Report: Launched New Hope 715am; headed straight to Sycamore area, island just before it. Picked up several barely keepers, 1 and 2 lbers on downsized shallow crank in red craw (rick clunn rc2) which i had to use spinning gear, and 1/4 oz red eye shad in red craw w/chartr belly. picked up a few more along the wall and tules with junebug senko. ran up to mokulemne to fish the tules and picked up more 1 and 2lbers with the shallow cranks and senkos...junebug senko brought in a 2.9 which was best for the day. nothing real sizeable. also threw spro frog (green/white belly) and had 6-7 blowups and only 1 took it down.. 1.5lber.
      City: folsom

Tips: we worked the cranks at diagonal from tules out crossing the weedlines. hits came between tules and inside weedline or just as it passed over and just past the outside of the weedline. senko hits came inside the weedline or just outside as it dropped after dragging it across the top.
please post your reports without the smack talk. thanx.

Report: The Fishing at Clearlake still remains fair with very little changes from the typical summer patterns currently working. We are starting to see big schools of juvenile bass (three to four inches in length) congregating in the backs of marinas & protected coves. As the summer goes on & the lake level continues to drop, these juvenile bass will begin to make there way out into deeper, more oxygen rich water, which in turn should improve the topwater & swimbait bite. The North end of the lake is still heavily weeded over so keep on the move untill you locate the fish. If you should get a blow up or catch a fish, chances are ther are more fish in that area, so fish it thoroughly. Your best bet for being successful in the north end is to get on the early morning topwater bite which happens pretty fast like 5:30am to 8am and use buzzbaits & Super Spooks. Mid lake & the south arms have been kicking out some decent numbers of fish on deep rockpiles and docks adjacent to deep water with crawdad pattern jigs & crankbaits. There has been some fisherman doing well fishing at nite at places like Shag rock & Henderson point using dark colored jigs & drop shotting worms. The Catfish action is definantly hot right now with fish ranging from five to fifteen pounds being caught on cut baits & nightcrawlers in both shallow & deep water all around the lake. One thing is for certain, there has been very litlle fishing pressure out there. The lake has been like a ghost town mid week with very few boats on the weekend. Troy Bellah (Clearlake Outdoors)

Report: Way to go MF Kenny, Your report was so obnoxious you actually managed to shut down the reports page. Just keep your illiterate thoughts to yourself. I think we will be just fine without that huge steamer you submited as a fishing report.

I launched out of New Hope and headed down the moke at low tide. I was suprised how clear the water was and as I move back in Hog, it cleared even more. It was a cool to see the holes in the hydrilla way in the back. I threw a whith 3/8 oz chatterbait with a 3" lake fork shad swimbait as a trailer. Tons of fish in the 1-2 pound class in the holes. No takers on the frog but a couple blow ups. I moved to the main Moke and started to really catch them on the chatterbait. Started to find fish on the frog as the tide came in but nothing big. Topwater bite didnt really happen at dusk but a pretty good day overall.
      City: West Sacramento

Tips: 3/8 oz chatter in white with 3" shad lake fork trailer where you find current. Ish fat frog in Da Man worked pretty well. I think the big ones are deeper but in the same areas with current. Good luck. Submit reports not garbage.

Report: Caught 4 LM yesterday, biggest was just under 8#. Caught 2 today in half a day of fishing. None of the other LM went over 2# and all fish caught on a deep diving shad crainbait thrown tight to shore and worked out deeper. The biggest hit on the splashdown 1 foot from the steep bank. All were caught in the shadows.

Tips: Cover water. Tube, carolina rig, jig, swimbait all wasted a lot of my time before going for reacton strikes. North end is better than south end per my last 2 outings the past 2 months .

Report: Well finally got the "Stink" off my fishing pole.
Caught one (1) lg mouth @ 2 lbs 6oz. Much nicer
size than I usually catch! Used a 7in plastic worm tea color rigged "Carolina". The cast was 6 in from
the shore line and must have hit him on the head, scarfed it up pronto. Sure could handle about 5 of them!

Report: Finishing the previous mini-report, Mike and I found the bite to be pretty good. I had a slow trip - only landing 2 - but caught the biggest - a bit over 5 lbs. Mike had a great trip landing around 12 or 13 - several in the 4 to near 5 lb range and brought a 6+ to the boat which broke his line! Our limit was 22+ lbs.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I fished a frog quite a bit up to sunset without a hit. Sad! The worm and Senko bite was pretty good. After dark we found fish quite shallow - hitting Berkley Havoc baits and brush hogs. The hour before dark produced the best bite- after dark was spotty. We pretty much stayed in the Clearlake arm.

Report: Thank you Fresnobassman for your tip on using shrink tubing to rig Senkos. I think this is a great idea to prevent Texas rigged and wacky hooked Senkos from breaking. I will definitely try this the next time I go fishing. I will also add that shrink tubing comes several colors so you can try to match it to the Senko. The innovativeness of fisherman always amazes me. I also appreciate your willingness to take your time and share this idea with many other fishermen. Personally, I also enjoy helping or sharing information with fisherman out on the water or at the dock.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Friday, 7/27/12, the good thing about fishing Friday was the beautiful day on the water that my buddy and I shared. The only issue was that we were fishing but not catching. We tried North, East, South and the Narrows and if we would have had more time, we probably would have also fished on the West side. We did manage to catch a few small fish in about 10 feet of water. And according to other fisherman at the dock, they were having about the same success. We caught our small fish drop-shotting Roboworms. The guys at the dock said they were using Senkos. During our search for fish, we observed on the fishfinder many large bait balls. These were usually in at least 20 ft of water. Almost always, there were a group of diving birds nearby. Deep diving crank baits and swim baits were pulled through these bait balls with no success. Perhaps, jigging a spoon might have worked but we didn’t try this.

Report: We fish the Delta frequenly and noticed the tip on using o rings on senkos. Try our method of using a short piece of shrink tubing. 3/8" will work for 5 and 6 in. senkos. just cut pieces of tubing about 1/4" long and work it up the senko from the pointed end. you can strech the senko slightly while installing. the fit is tight. run your hook into the shrink tubing about 1/8" and back out again. the hook sets perfectly perpendicular to the senko and the shrink tubing is super strong and can be used over and over again. you can catch several fish on each senko this way. its a great alternative to o rings and the worm cant slip out. works great. heading to delta sat. will report then...good luck guys.

      Water Temp: 75 - 83

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Wednesday 7-25-12, my buddy and I launched from Rivers End Marina at low tide (7:00 AM) and fished Coney Island. The tide had just started moving in. However, I don’t think it was the tide making most of the water move in but it was the large pumps at Rivers End. The last time I fished there, I actually saw the water running in the wrong direction, that is, toward the pumps rather than out as would be expected for an out-going tide. We ended the day at 3:30 PM with about 38 fish. One was 3 lbs 2 oz, a few were in the 2 – 3 lb range, many were in the 1 -2 lbs range and perhaps 7 were dinks. The first fish I caught was with a Texas-rigged 6-inch Senko. Then, because I missed hooking 4 fish in a row, I dropped down to a 5-inch Senko and started to catch fish again. Now the only problem was that I was only catching one or two fish per Senko before it broke in half. The solution was to rig the 5-inch Senko wacky style using an O-ring around the Senko. Problem solved. My buddy caught most of his fish drop-shotting a 6-inch RoboWorm. We found most of the fish stacked on a ledge where the water dropped very rapidly from about 3 feet to 10 feet. This ledge can be found close into shore or as far as 150 feet out in the middle of the channel. Just look for it with your depth finder. Fish were also caught around points with weeds and moving water.
      City: Pinole

Tips: To save Senkos, rig them wacky style with an O-ring. Make sure the O-ring fits tightly around the Senko. If not, the Senko can slip out of the ring during the cast and be lost. For the hook, I prefer one with a wire weed guard that loops over the point like a Falcon Hook. Just make sure the loop of the guard is adjusted so it doesn’t get caught behind the barb and prevent it from opening when setting the hook on a fish.

Report: This is more of a Thank you than a fishing report. I happened upon a fisherman near Disco Bay, who was generous enough to share some topwater tips with me.I was able to utilize some of his tips and catch 5 fish on a popper, which is alot for me. No big ones, but they were fun. Anyway Byron, thank you for sharing your knowledge and I hope to see you again.
      good fishing!

Report: Hot summer day. Fished dead horse with topwater, drop shot first thing, no takers. Set up near dam with Berkley Havoc blk/blu Skeet Pit Boss 3/4 bullet weight flipping into grass. Caught a 4 pounder using a 1-2 jigging. Fish hit perfectly after secong jig and hard too, set the hook immediately. My only one for the day, but a goody!
      City: Oxnard

Tips: Watch a video of Chris Lane when he won the Bassmaster classic 2012 flipping the Ugly Otter and use that style, it worked for me. I hadn't fished in a while, but I wanted to put a recent report. Flippin' in the grass with a big sinker and creature.

Report: Last week fishing was good but this week the bite has turned to HOT. My clients Thursday boated an estimated 75 bass from the bracket to a 2 1/2 lb large mouth. Many over the bracket on reaction baits and then senkos and worms in the afternoon with the reaction bite still on. It was a great day with fish all day even with rain in the morning. Hard to beleive it was July.

Tips: I look forward to this time of year for the reaction bite and it is on!!

Report: Luanched the Custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" out of Ladd's about 7:30 a.m. and was out of the water by 2:30 p.m. My original plans was to run to Disaapointment and White Sloughs today, but never made it that far. The bite was on in 14 Mile Slough between ski beach and "T" intersection that would lead to LVW Marina or Disappointment Slough. The awesome bite lasted until about 11:30 a.m. Between 7:45 and 9:00 a.m. I had 13 buzzing swimbait bites. Lost a duoble digit at the boat. I lost several so I no longer had confidence in the treble stinger hook I was using and switched back to single trailer hook. Today I had a total of 56 bites and caught/released 24 bass ranging from 2 to 7 pounds. The bite was wide open using buzzbait, spinnerbait, california swimming jig, flipped/pitched black jig w/sweet beaver trailer, punched strike king green punkin tubes, zoom super flukes double rig, mojo shot zoom trick worms, and most fun I had with was good blow ups was using my white frog as an open water topwater bait during the bottomed out low tide. I stayed in the main slough most of the time, but did catch a few of the bass in the two cuts flipping my jig along the outside weed line.
