      Report: We had a great spring like day for our seventh and last Berryessa Pro Team Tournament of the year, the air temperature was 70 degrees and the water temperature was 63-70 degrees with 10’-12’ visibility. After two months of constant pressure and after a tournament on Saturday, the teams all caught limits with double digit weights. Thanks to the 14 teams for coming to Markley Cove for the April 17, 2011 Tournament, our smallest turnout for the year. Hopefully we’ll have a better turnout next year with Berryessa kicking out some great sacks this year. Blast-Off was dry and warm, and at the weigh-ins there was a little wind that kicked up, all-in-all a beautiful spring day. The lake was hammered the day before, but most teams weighed in solid bags; with the top teams each weighing in a big bed fish for 20# plus bags. The top teams managed to find some nice largemouth that moved up, fishing spawning areas throughout the main lake from 0’- 20’. The majority of the teams had a good day, bringing in a lot of nice largemouth, a couple of spotted bass, and very few nice smallies. Some fish were caught on jigs, senkos, and swim baits in the main body. Teams reported fish being caught in 0-25 feet of water, with the fish starting to move up for the full moon spawn. Third Place went to Dave Raper (Vacaville) and Anthony Piccardo (Sacramento) weighing a solid 16.72# bag. Again Thanks to all the teams for fishing the Berryessa Pro Team Circuit and another great tournament on Lake Berryessa!       Report: Nice day on the lake for a Tourney. I must have pushed my custom Ranger a little to hard on Saturday while I was pre-fishing because I couldn't get her off the trailer on Sunday. Me and my partner were forced to fish from the shore.
      Which was probably for the best since I was forced to work the evening shift at Wal-Mart and had to be off the lake by 3 anyway. Anyhow, the bite was pretty good from the shore out near Spanish Flat, I caught 4 within the first 45 minutes on an all chrome with a chrome bill crankbait (I call it my ice bait). Then I switched to a hand poured purple and green craw and landed a 7 lb pig. All the fish were really fat and healthy, the pre-spawn feeding must be in full swing. Before I left for the day I threw out some life craws and pulled in a pretty nice striper and a few crappie which will make a nice dinner. I thought that was a good stopping point and headed off to work.

      Tips: Never give up. If one method doesn't work try something else. Mix up the presentation. Don't be afraid to throw a color the fish aren't used to.

      Report: Fished from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Caught 8 fish all over 2 lbs with the largest approximately 5.5 lbs on Swim Baits and LC Rip Baits.
      All fish were in 2ft or less of water. Bite was not wide open, but steady through the day.

      Tips: Fish slow and on the bank. Cuts and points with rocks.

      Report: went out at 5:30 and fished the dam and caught 10 small mouth. drove into yordy creek and cought 13 small mouth and a couple large mouth. had a 23 limit in and 1.5 hours.

      Report: Took my son to yorty creek around 10am. We caught 3 fish in about 2 hours yet saw around 10 others caught. Being it was the weekend it was pretty packed out there, biggest fish we caught went about 4lbs.

      Report: 22lbs for 5. Broke my spot record three times over today in a club tourney. Two 5s and a solid brace of 3-4s. Fishing was slow, only got a dozen bites today, but the best four went 18lbs together.

      Tips: Extended, flooded points and island tops. Not wind = no reaction bite. Got most on a darterhead, and one of the 5s ate a slow rolled blade when the wind came up around 2. 20-40 feet deep for the bigguns

      Report: This report is about a week late.
      I launched my custom built 15' Gregor "Bass Assassin" at that free ramp off Diablo near downtown Stockton. I loaded up my gear and my "old lady" in the "Bass Assassin" and headed out. The "old lady" has been on a diet so the "Bass Assassin" was able to maintain it's 25 mph top end speed. I made a long run and there was quite a bit of boat traffic and the "Bass Assassin" took a small wave over the back of the transom when I slowed down to get over a yacht roller. I got the ol' "Bass Assassin" mopped out and proceeded to my first spot. The tide was low and the place was screwed up. Caught one small bass off a senko and missed another off a jig. Got out of there a couple hours later and headed back to the port downtown because the "old lady" wanted to go to the Asparagus Festival. I battled the wind and waves from those big offshore boats and finally made it back in my trusty "Bass Assassin".
      I dropped her off and dropshotted a few more bass downtown. Nothing big but it was some action.

      Tips: I think it has been tough out there but some guys are getting them. Hit it as often as possible because its gonna turn on soon.

      Report: Fishing flats and rocks was the trick for 25 plus fish day. Most 1lb or so. Two 3lb spotties, and a mix of largemouth and smallies too. fished 8:00-2:00 nonstop bites, action. All fish on plastics. Did'nt change up cause it never shut down!

      Report: Caught a nice bass on a wacky rigged smoke senko. Had some other good strikes as well. Saw some very large fish; one chased my Huddleston into shore. Creatures did nothing. Same for flukes. Best fishing was two hours before dusk. Also fished surface lures and no takers.

      Tips: I had to reel super slow with the wacky rig. Fish and good hits came right after a strong twitch. I fished the Huddleston too fast and paid for it.

      Report: There are a good number of bass in the 2 to 2 1/2 pound range.bass are shallow 1/8oz finesse jigs 4" twin tail grub trailers. Baby brushogs & senko's are working. Traffic is light after easter weekend call for info lake my be close for repair work on rock slide & wall 559-689-3255.

      Report: Comming off good sucess at Don Pedro, came to a screeching halt at Mcclure. LMB and SMB dont bed like spots, and as a result I didnt really see any beds today. Fished with the family, to get tuned up for the Mike Van Guilder Sr. Tournament. Wife caught her first bass. And I was able to boat a couple as well all in the Temperance area.

      Report: Nice day at Millerton today. Great weather, lots of 14-16 inch spotted bass willing to bite all over the lake. Only fished the points on the main lake and probably managed 30 spots in about 4 hours fishing.

      Today we used jigs as our main bait and small 4 inch texas rigged Keeper worms as our secondary bait. Both baits worked supurbly. Again, this is a great lake to take a kid fishing.

      Report: Bite was tough today, overcast then the sun came out around noon, thought it would bring fish to the shallows but couldn't find them. we stuck 5 big squaw fish, ahh, finally went back to pogi piont and stuck a nice 4 lb large mouth on a junebug lizard texas style on edge of weeds. that was it for the day. Water was very cold, had a few good bites on a swimbait but did not hook them. Bite should be better in a few weeks. Water temp got up to 59 degrees at end of day.

      Report: Fishing was tough today. I had one bass while drop shotting in coves with floating wood. A couple more using a crawdad crank bait on rocky banks next to wood but not in or on top of it. I did not see any beded fish.

      Tips: The water level seems to have drop a good 3 feet in a week, although there is water flowing in. The h2o temp needs to rise. I was at Berryessa two weeks ago and the h20 temp 59-62 and Conn Dam last week with h20 61-63. Those fish are scouting out beds and cruising the shallows.

      Report: This report is a bit tardy but conditions haven't changed too much, so hopefully it still helps. Fished the Delta all day with a bubby on the 10th and 15th. All fish hit on 4" and 5" Senkos in shad and craw colors. No takers on cranks or spinners.

      10th: Launched out of Tower Park and found clear water in Little potato and White's slough, as well as Honker Cut. Caught a 2lb-12oz in Little Potato, a 7lb-1oz and 2lb-4oz in White's, and two 2 pounders in Honker Cut. Fish were in weeds in 2 - 6 feet of clear water a few feet outside of the tullies.

      15th: Launched out of Sugar Barge and went south to Sand Mound slough for 2 fish, and then north to Piper slough for three more - all around 1.5 to 2.5 lbs - and all in 2 to 10 feet of water tight to cover. We found a number of males guarding beds around Frank’s Tract that weren’t interested in any lures.

      Tips: I’m doing better spending lots of time in areas where I find clear water, rather than spending that time searching out more clear areas.
