Report: Fished the Sonora Bass Club tourney on Saturday. 20 boats with all catching fish, but only about 8 limits. Top 3 teams had 13+ pounds for 7 fish, with most bites coming on plastics drop shot in the 25 to 40 foot range. Dead stick (very little movement)seem to work best. Most fish are suspended and tricky to catch. Fish your graph and fish verticle.
      City: Sonora

Tips: Baitfish are real small (1 - 1 1/2 inches) and drop shotting small white/natural color plastics seemed to work best. No reaction bites (tried top water and ripping)!

Report: the red bluff bass anglers club used to do a tourny on this lake. i know several people interested in a toury here. after all is our local lake and the local clubs would have affordable tournaments with a great tourn out if they would fish here year round. people wold not struggle so much here if they would fish it more often... they would realize how great this lake really is.
      City: red bluff

Tips: there r huge fish here.. i have caught bass on on every thing in the boat here all year long.

Report: took a couple buddies that only fish from shore for whatever. started throwing cranks without a bite. started fishing points in main body heading up creek. not getting bit at all. finally looked on graph and saw monster school of smelt. so much that u could almost walk on them. then the jig bite went off. they couldnt get bit so we hooked em up a darter head and a drop shot. well the drop shot picked up fish all day darter head zero. switched other guy to drop shot and finally he hooked up. i got limit about 9 lbs best 2.5 jig and drop shot. the guy who never caught a bass before caught his limit dropsshotting and is hooked on it. the other guy just liked setting the hook alot. usually nobody home. but he did get one fish and broke off a 3+ at boat. bummer. never flip in a three pounder on six pound test. oh snap!
      City: plumas lake

Tips: find bait find fish. bellies and mouths full of smelt. jig in brn and purp. and drop shot in dark colors.

Report: Dwayne lucckesi and i got on the lake at 7:30 am and moved out off the east side third ramp in 15 to 30 feet of water. Dwayne and i boated 16 bass between 2 to 4 pounds and we also landed 12 small bass from 7 to 11 inches long.Dwayne came out on top with 12 of the bigger bass. The weather was nice cold in the morning but warmed up quick with the bass action. We caught all of are bass on 1/4 oz bullet head jigs in light green pumpkin barb wire and we use watermelon red/black flake 4" double tail and 5" single tail yamamoto grubs as are trailers. We were off the water by 2:45 pm

Tips: fish slow long cast keep good contact with the bottom when using a jig i swim the bullet head back to the boat and never lose contact with the bottom it also work with arkie or football head jigs also or if your using brushogs.

Report: started about 730 in the narrows and caught a couple small spots..made our way to the main body and drop shotted a couple 2-3 lb smallmouth in about 35 ft... the wind pushed us into a cove by spanish flats and hooked a 8 lb large mouth shallow...huge fish!! the wind died down and we went back deep and caught a couple more nice fish...
      City: yuba city

Tips: on the way back thru winters stop and eat at the world chinese rest. great food and a good way to end the day...catch and release always!!

      Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Slow down if you want to score at Calero. We started fishing deep points (along with the MANY boats on the lake this Wednesday) without much success. Went a little shallower (12-18ft) and were able to score some fish. Nothing huge, but just your average 2lb Calero bass. Couple dinks mixed in for flavor, but we caught 12 for the day. Best 5 went 12lbs. Slow retrieving Baby Brush Hogs, Gulp Minnows and Yamamoto Double Tail Grubs. Did see a substantial amount of Crappie on the graph (quite a few crappie bites on the plastics) and watched a guy pull out some nice ones close to Dam while dropshotting for the Bass. Get out before it gets too cold.
      City: Pacific Grove

Tips: We caught some fish shallow around weed edges along bank and most in the 12-20ft water depth range. Many bites after deadsticking for 30-40 seconds then gently moving the bait. Also, any drops you can find should hold fish... pull over a rock or something deep and let it fall, get a bite. Fish it while you can players!

      Water Temp: 59

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Nice day on the lake. Caught 8 bass up to 3.5 lbs. Caught 3 on shallow crank bait and 5 on drop shot. All fish were in 12 ft of water or less along steep rocky shoreline. Recent trout plant had a lot of boats out at the south end by the swimming area. Bite actually turned on after 2:00 when the water warmed up. AM bite was very slow.
      City: Foster City

Tips: Cover a lot of water with crank bait. Slow down with drop shot when you find fish. Better fishing in the PM when the water warms up a deg or 2.

      Water Temp: 62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Had a nice day of fishing. Got on the water at safe light. Hit the dam and hit a few nice ones. After sun up I hit rocky points in 15 to 18 feet with brown jigs. Best five going 18+. Biggest came on crank bait early. Few small ones on dropshot 3 to 4 lb fish on jigs. All in all good day

Tips: Bigger fish hit slow slow presentation. Work points slow. Multiple fish off of same locations.

Report: Entry to the lake through the back, pass the horse stables, has been closed until further notice. I ran into a gate right at the ranger station in the back that had a sign saying "no public access". I spoke to a ranger and he told me the horse stable's lease had run out and the county/water district did not renew it. So while they're cleaning out all the horse stuff in the back, there is to be no trespassing up that road to the levee until further notice. He told me it could be a while but wasn't sure when it would be open again. I just hope it's open by spring.

Report: Went out bait fishing today around franks track. Caught a crap load of small ones (12"-16") Landed one keeper (24"). Frozen shad worked alot better then the frozen anchovies. On the way in tried some rattle traps in franks got nothing but did have a few decent followers, didnt spend much time on em though as it was getting dark.

As for the sherrif situation, we were out about a month ago and the sheriff came over to check our licenses, fire extiguisher, life vests and throwable floatation device. Unfortuantly we didnt have our throwable floataion device in the boat and we got a fixit ticket. Sure he maybe should have gave us a warning but we got the ticket, got it signed off yada yada yada. The point is we didnt have it so we had no reason to argue with them, they are just doing there job and that is what are taxes pay them for, to do their job. But whatever it will always be on the boat now. (I also made sure our lights worked today)

      Water Temp: 62.3 to 64.9

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Moved out to 18 to 30 feet of water and throw 1/2 oz football head jigs/green pumpkin barb wire with 5" inch single tail 208 yamamoto watermelon red/black as your trailer. That was the ticket sunday for us. The bass range from 1 1/2 to 4 pounds putting a pattern together here is simple this time of year at the lake. Brushogs we also work in watermelon red/blk flake.

Tips: I make long cast using my flipping stick and bump the bottom all the way back to the boat never losing contact with the bottom. There not shy about about picking up a 1/2 oz jig at all.East side of the lake was holding the better fish.

      Water Temp: 64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: launched at Markley Cove with and old timer from town, started fishing the narrow around 830 am. The old man started drop shoting and I went with a jig and a small tube. It took about 1 hour before we started getting a good bite. Most of fish were not deep this time, they were real shallow. They were real spooky and most of the time only snap at the bait. We got over 40 bite and our combined 5 best fish would give us over 15 Lb. He had two spotted bass 3+ pound er and had a 4+ smallie (biggest one I ever caught). The keys today were to let the wind drift you to the back of the cove, only fish the real rocky one( the hot spot are where the rock end and the mud begins). I'm not sure why but the big fish were mixed in with the little guy today. The old man had never caught spotted bass and was real impressed by the fight, he also learned not to
      City: Rio Vista

Tips: When things get slow change color, and then the type of bait. today the loud colors were the key not the naturals. Alway use wind as a tool. Good luck and be safe.

Report: Started at 11AM. First bass on a spinnerbait in 10' of water in back of cove. Wind kicked up and started throwing ZaraSpook. Had couple topwater hits in coves and points. Saw baitfish headed toward back of coves. Had a hit on crankbait in cove. Drop shot is usually good to me, but not today.
Bass Club Tournament out of Markley Cove. Shure would like to known how they did, what they used and where they used it.
