Report: shasta recreation has sent out the 2009 ramp pass letters, they put in a float at centimudi, its quite an affair, its 4ft wide about 15 ft long and if you tie up one boat thats the end of its usefulness. don't step on it unless you can jump from shore and land in the middle, it will drop you into the lake. 27 vehicles using the facility this am, three had passes, the others did not so no sense in paying for the use when nobody else does. we are getting ripped off, they could have put something in months ago, they sent their bills out and had to de something. do not buy a ramp pass for 2009, they willl not do what they are supposed to do. The forest service needs to find a vendor who will do what they are paid to do. watch out when you attempt to use the float at centimudi. you might end up swimming

Report: Today was by far the best fishing trip I've ever had at Quarry Lakes. I don't know if it was the cold weather, the recent trout plant, or the upcoming full moon, or maybe a combination of all of them, but man THE TROUT BITE WAS HOT!!

I caught 9 trout total and kept the 5 biggest. I had about 12 or 13 bites though, but some came off. I had one 3 pounder, 3 in the 2-2.5 lb range, and the rest were from 1.5-2 lbs. On top of that, I only fished for 2 hours (between 2-4pm). All of them came off of a combination of different spoons and one came off a kastmaster. I was also soaking some powerbait and a night crawler, but didn't get any hits off that. The guy next to me was bait fishing and he was getting a lot of hits too. I fished here last week too, and only had one bite in 3 hours (what a difference a week makes).

Unfortunately I am going to have to withhold the location, as it is now my new favorite spot.

      Water Temp: 57.5

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Friday I went out by myself, filled up the tank, got minnows so I would be ready for Saturday morning. I fished for about three hours and only caught four bass. Two were caught on brass and glass by the boat docks as I threw into the empty slips and two were caught by structure. It was a tough bite. My fishing buddy wanted to go out for trout while I waited for him to come down I caught two trouts at the dock on the surface chasing minnows with a minus lure. The water was 57.5 degrees and there was a difinite chill in the air. We headed straight towards the narrows and we trolled from the boulders pass the ski school with not even one bite. I trolled a minus lure on one end and a repala that went down six to eight feet in a shad color on the other end with no luck. My buddy threw to shore a top water lure and no blow ups. The water was like glass not even a ripple but no fish breaking on the top. I met Barney and Ed and they were fishing with a minnow and a split shot on the bottom and they only caught one bass. I told them to follow me to my favorite cove and let's see if we can change your luck. There was a slight drift and they started at one end and came towards me. Their first fish that they picked up at the point was an 8 - 10 lb catfish. They did the drift again and caught a trout and a bass. Then they came to us where the markers were and I told them that was where the crappies were they saw them on their screen but they had to leave. They caught all their fish in the shadow and let me tell you if it was cool in the sun it was cold in the shadows but they said it was worth it and thanked me for bringing them there and showing them this new spot (see photo). I caught a 10 lb catfish on mackerel which is a great bait for cats. 'til next weekend..................................................good fishing!!!!

Tips: No tips. The water is clear in the central part of the Delta near Mildred.

Report: Fished from dawn till 10 both Saturday and Sunday. Fished for big fish using swimbaits 80 percent of my time. Not a tap. Switched to spoon on Sunday in the last half hour and caught one 3 pounder.Bait is suspended just out of sight depthwise in the backs of coves. Saw many slashing boils but could not connect. I used a lavender dd22 shad on both days without a bump,< I need Bryon's music :>) )Seriously tough but I did learn a new spoon trick...See tips below
      City: Ojai

Tips: I metered around deep water from 80-45 feet until I found a layer of shad 10 feet thick sending my color meter into a yellow/red layer from 55 to 65 feet. I lowered my spoon to the bottom and procedid to molest the shad. Then I noticed on my meter that the rucuss I had created by scaring the shad had made some fish begin to stir that were evidently just under the shad.Caught one and missed two. Saw one swim down 10 feet on my meter and missed it when it bit. I was still trying to figure out what the slowly descending line from 45 to 65 was when whack...swing and a miss. Now I know what that line is ;>) In hindsite it seems that you can just hang the spoon and raise and lower it slowly just off ( within a foot ) the bottom and be extra ready for a quick bite outta no where while spoon'n in shad stew in 65 feet. This bit looked like it got stronger as the day passed but alas I had to go.

      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Caught our fish up early then deep after the sun got on the water. Color was critical. Tried several "other" colors but they wouldn't eat it. If we put the "correct color" in their face they would eat it immediately. Wrong color and you'd swear there weren't any fish there.
      - go fish!

Report: Followed Rick Tietz advice and was finally able to spoon and dropshot quite a few fish. Thanks Tietz for the post! Found the fish in the Narrows in 50 ft of water suspended 10 ft off bottom. Dropshot worked best at 11am - 1pm. At 1pm 3/4 oz spoon bite picked up. At 2pm a light wind picked up, the sun was down a bit and a haze covered it (all causing the water to darken quite a bit), the 1 3/4oz Duh spoon bite was going!
      City: Elk Grove

Tips: If spooning not working, try using dropshot in the same manner just slower...

Report: First time back here since June. I didn't do as well as last time, I only caught two trout that were about 1.5 lbs off of white power eggs and a night crawler. I fished from about 1pm to 5 on the first dock on the east shore. I was tossin kastmasters and different types of small crank baits and I couldn't get them to bite off any lures.

Report: Sounds like somebody went to the lake and did some LICKING. Har. TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH bite. As Billy always says "THAT LAKE SUCKS". Har. D.B.COOPER
      City: Petaluma

Tips: Tacklewarehouse will be getting in some large shipments of this licking cream called THE CREAM. We will be selling it in the parking lot at Sonoma before the Redwood Empire christmas tournament starts, that way you will not have to wait in line. Just apply this stuff LIBERALLY after you come off the water. The pain will go away after a few days.

Report: How many people across the country can complain that they only caught 3 1/2 to 4 pounders on a bass trip? Well, I'm complainin'!! Just kidding!!! I tried hard for a 20 lb limit but fell short by half a pound and couldn't even stick a big one. I fished myself out of Red Bud for 6 or 7 hours, checking out some areas. The bass seemed to be schooled a bit more - some area had nothing and others produced quite a few bass. I fished rock and ledges - didn't get any dock fish. Biggest was 4 lbs 6 oz and I did catch a few small 2 lbers. Several were 3 3/4 lbs - looked like clones. Cloud cover was good for awhile, cleared about 10 pm but didn't seem to slow the bite. 30 degrees when I left at midnight and no fog.
      City: Yuba city

Tips: I used Yamamoto Kreature baits, brush hogs, and two of the 3 biggest took a ChatterBait about 20 feet deep. One would think the bass would start to nail baits now as the water cools, but not for me. It is still a subtle pickup in my boat. I lost more bass than usual for some reason last night - they didn't seem real committed. I wound up with 18 bass. Same depth worked for me, 10 to 25 feet.
