Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Sugar Barge at 4pm and fished til dark. Caught a few on drop shots. One 4.5 pounder on a perfect cast! Then after a few more beers, i decided to throw a hula popper in front of the tules and lily's. Fished patiently with it, then after a couple good pops, I see a swirl on top the water and Boom, fish on! A 7.9 pound bass! My personal best. Good day.
City: Pleasant HillTips: Pop lock and drop it. Be patient, stop throwing what everyone else throws. check out my pics on westernbass!

Don Pedro Lake
-
Water Temp: 74 degrees
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished Don Pedro today w/ a friend of mine. It was really nice to get out on the water again. Fished from 7am to 12pm - stayed around Fleming and Roger's. We caught somewhere around 10 or 12 fish total w/ quite a few missed bites. Most fish were in 20 to 30 feet of water on rocky points. Most fish were small - I think we had 4 tournament keepers - all fish were released. Best fish was around 4+ on a jig in about 15 feet of water.
City: AtwaterTips: Tried alot of different things but best bite was on a dropshot w/ light line using 4" shad imitation type soft plastics. Should be getting better over the next few weeks. Only caught 1 on the jig but it was by far the best fish. Jigs will always produce nice fish on these lakes - not as many bites - but better quality fish.

New Hogan Lake
-
Water Temp: 73
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished from about 8 til dark. Didn't see any boils in the morning so we started out bass fishing. Fish were off the hook on flukes. Not much size but a few decent ones. Violent hits too. Ended up with over 20 bass for the day. Boil fishing stunk. Found our first boil about noon. Not a lot of boils the rest of the day. Got on a couple but didn't hook up. bummer. The bass fishing made up for it though.
City: ConcordTips: White or Albino flukes did the trick for us. Biggest fish went about three pounds.

Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Took the kids out for 3.5 hrs on Sat got 9 fish to 1.5 lbs on drop shot 5 inch watermellon green zoom worm wacky rigged, tried my black and blue creature bait for a few cast and a Zara but only for about 10-15 minutes, hard to fish these with my 3 little ones in the boat:) There are a ton of bait fish and bass in the back of all the coves in 3-8 feet of water.
City: San JoserTips: Been fishing this lake for 35 years, I always catch a few, one guy got a 8 lb on top water Sat, my best out of this lake is 7.3 so thinks are looking good, I got a 4.11 last Sat on Black/Blue creature bait, the Ranger makes sure there is no poaching going, I mean they watch this lake like a hawk and you can not fish it after dark anymore so I would say the lake is in the best shape it has been in a long time, just needs a little more water.

Camp Far West Lake

Report: Can we go back to Keith O's report- what bait does HM stand for? I'm not familiar with the initials...it's probably something I'll slap my forehead and say, "oh, I shoulda known" but I don't. So could Keith O or someone tell me what the HM is?? Thanx!
oh, btw, thank you to the guys that supported Jim's report. Or at least his willingness to share his experience.
oh, my report: a week or two after the 5mph went into effect, my brother and i fished the main body just outside of brown's ravine. we worked the hazard buoys with drop-shotting at 10-15-18ft and hooked up fairly decent on spots and largies. brother got a nice 3-4lb smallie but it did a quick-release at the boat.
City: folsomTips: keep sharing tips...thanx! all my drop-shot success was on aaron's magic 5", mostly wacky but some nose rigged. brother used perch and also hooked up on jig/trailers and c-rigs with same plastics.

Water Temp: 76-77
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Wow - the previous post is a new definition of the word "brief"! Big news of my trip last night (Tues) with a friend is that I finally caught a small bass - 10 inches! We did see many small bass chasing Silversides just before and after dark. I hadn't heard that "rain on the water" sound Silversides make for several years! All that action did make for one of the best "first hour after dark" bites I have ever experienced! It was "on fire" for an hour, then slowed quite a bit. Don't know how many we hooked, but put 35 or so in the boat for a best 5 limit of 18+ lbs. I decided to try one of my remaining 10" black/chartreuse Berkley Power worms (they arn't made anymore) on a shallow rock ledge - hoping it would look good in the bright moonlight. It looked pretty good to a 5 1/2 pounder - big fish for the night.
City: Yuba cityTips: Again, no carp rolling in the moonlight. What is going on?! We used many types of baits and colors for lots of action - even before dark. I can't say any more because my friend is fishing an upcoming tournament. As was last Friday night - the night was gorgeous. That will change some as a cold front is moving in today.

Report: The ramp at Jones Valley is almost unusable...You got about 6 feet of asphalt left then a 1 foot drop off the edge. The dock is out of the water. No idea what the USFS ("piss-fir willies") or the so-called Shasta Recreationx intend to do now.

Report: Went fishing on tues. morning got on the water about 9am after having problems with that stupid ticket box that refused to give my ticket after puting 15 bucks in it and this is not the first time, finally found a park ranger to take care of the problem what was wrong with filling out the old envelopes and dropping the money in the box never had problems with that. well we finally got on the water and caught 5 fish total all on dropshot with a morning dawn robo worm. all in the 1 1/2 lbs range with one going 3 lbs

Report: I'm new to this board and this is my first post. I'd like to respond to Jim's report from 9-13-08 where he claimed catching over a hundred fish. I was one of those four boats (white Triton) he referred to in his post. I don't know how many fish he caught, but I know he caught a lot of fish. I saw it.
I was fishing up by the bouys, a couple hundred yards from his hot spot, when he left. He stopped when passing me and we talked for a couple minutes. He seemed like a nice guy who just had a terrific day on the lake.
I was surprised when I saw the Jim Scarlett's Gay post. Where did that come from? I have seen Jim Scarlett's name on the message board before and it wasn't very complimentary, but, again, I'm the new kid on the block and I don't know what's happening.
What I do know is that Jim's post was probably accurate (with a little leeway for a fisherman's ability to count)and that the Jim Scarlett's Gay person didn't have the balls to sign his name.
Round 1 to Jim.Tips: Be nice.

Water Temp: 79-80
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: lots of algae blooms ,water is extremely low, watch for submerged rocks herd a guy hit one. got a few on spinners bur really disapointed in the management of this lake. if the water drops a few more feet u wont be able to use the docks. seen lots of baby bluegill , two bald eagles an some deer was a fun day.
City: mercedTips: they are feeding on all the blugill.

Water Temp: cooler
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: What the guy said was true as I watched the show from about fifty yards away. After he left about eleven thirty, I moved onto the spot and had a darn good time. You weasels need to respect the man because he can catch um and you evidently can't.
City: LoomisTips: P.S. I don't see why NCBF lets anyone on this site without a verifiable website to bring names out into the open which would prevent "weasels". My input.
