Contra Loma Lake
-
Water Temp: 50
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I have been hammering this lake pretty much every day. I have yet to catch a bass, but I know it will be soon. The water is not as clear as its normal , but its clearing up. Still pretty cold. I am getting sick of these powerbait fisherman with their sea rods, and 5 pound weights out there, jeez. Trying to make a good presentation , when all of a sudden a huge weight and gob of powerbait comes crashing down to the water. Trout fishing is alright, it isnt as good as it usually is for me though. Picked a couple up off slow crawling some nightcrawlers, and rattletraps. I have been trying dropshotting, with no luck. Had bites, but no hook ups. Any one that wants to meet up at contra loma, let me know. I am looking for a fishing partner. I live only 5 minutes from contra loma.
City: antiochTips: GO SLOW

Pardee Lake
-
Water Temp: 48-53
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Heard great things and fished hard from 9-3. Caught a trout to salvage a eventless fishing trip. I fished points up the arm,by the launch area, and the main body mostly. I worked jigs, dragged worms and craws, and swim baits. Not a bite anywhere!!!!! Ouchhhhhh! Others said the same at the ramp as well. Give it another week or two of warm weather and it should turn it on!!! I did mark only 10-20 fish all out in 31-36 ft off of points!
City: elk groveTips: Go anywhere else until water temp increases a few degrees!!!!!!

San Luis Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Well first time here since my last report.Got a late start about 9:30 lake was like glass when I arrived and stayed like that all day.First started along the rock's where there's water on both side's of the Highway and threw Rat-L-Trap and jerkbait nothing. Then I ran back over and fished where I useually fish below the windmill's.Fished about a half hour and finally picked one up four pound's.Fished until 4:00pm and cought 8 fish all the same size 4-5 pound's all on Ghost pattern Husky Jerk.Lost two on Rat-L-Trap.
City: SalinasTips: All the fish this time came on point's no other type area's produced. Also use as light of line as you can I use 10lb floro nothing bigger as this water is very clear.good luck and just stick with it right now.I would catch one about ever half hour or more

Shasta Lake
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: thew road into packers has been cleared of snow and downed trees, maybe shasta rec can do what they are supposed to do and put the other dock segment in at the ramp
City: Shast Lake City

Sonoma Lake
-
Water Temp: 47-53
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: ABA tournament was won today in the back of Warm Springs. Jigs, brushhogs, worms. I think they had 21lbs. Warm Springs is fishing so much better now, because they are pulling so much water out and the Warm Springs side is least affected(more stable) when they do this. Dry Creek arm fish are more affected(unstable) and suspend and are harder to catch.
City: PetalumaTips: Fish the Warm Springs for a better chance of catching fish right now. Still gotta fish slow, but try blades when the morning starts to warm up.

Spring Lake

Water Temp: 49
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: big crappie is on photo page now.
sorry i didnt take picture of 5+lb bass.
City: santa rosaTips: large plastics/swimbaits(6-12" trout/minnow)
fish slow. -
Water Temp: 47-49
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Well I started off at the main parking area with my fish cat. Threw a rip bait shad pattern to test out my old loomis out, but no takers. I knew if the fish were going to bite it would have to be plastics. I practically fished the channel all the way to the north end near the damn with many different booyah jigs, no takers. At one point near the point break where all the beds are I had one quick bite and missed him.
Then I fished at my spot near a big section of just beds between two tule sections in 9-12 feet of water and started throwing a senko. I worked it in different ways but the best way is to texas rigg weightless style it. JUST DEADSTICKING IT for 10-15 seconds after every fall I caught this amazing fighting 5+lbs LRG BASS. too bad i different bring a camera...but after that I was satisfied and started trying to find different fishing holes. About 15-20 yards from that spot I got a tap tap and decided then it was time to set the hook. I CAUGHT A 2-3lb CRAPPIE...had to be 13-14 inches. I thought it was another bass but smaller. I took a picture of that but ill get that picture up later.
City: santa rosaTips: work your big plastics in 8-15 feet of water and just deadstick after the fall of the plastic. maybe even a 6 inch swimbait will work if you work it very very very slowly.
THERE ARE BIG ONES OUT THERE. THROW BIG STUFF.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 48 to 51
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: first time out this year. Beautiful day. I found five nice spotted bass all around three pounds on a steep bank in the narrows. My buddy Doug fishing with me did not get a fish. The fish were biting real light. I got mine on shakey heads with a brown trick worm. We ran to the northend to look around in the afternoon, metered fish and bait. No takers though. water was cloudier in the north end.
City: brisbaneTips: Slow down. look for steep banks. I did not try dropshot which might have worked also

Report: 3 Tourney's crowded Frank's Tract pretty well. I fished from 7:30 am until 3:00 pm. Sun was out all day. Caught only 1 fish (7lbs). Caught it on a 1/2oz green pumkin jig in 4 ft of water on a tule point leading into Frank's Tract. It was very hard to find a spot to fish there were boats on every spot. A couple weeks of this weather and its on.
City: FairfieldTips: PATIENCE!!!!

Water Temp: cold
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished weed beds in Mildred Island early.Cold and slow but managed 2 bass on weedslingers. Not a bad day being that I haven't fished the Delta since October.
City: FarmingtonTips: fish slow and dress warm.

Water Temp: 51-54
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: It's been tough for everyone, including some of the veterans I hear, but Cooch and Blue Daddy Ranger seem to know something we don't. Congrats guys, my hats off to you! I did manage one bite for 3 afternoon hrs of fishing. Water temp was around 52 degrees. I found the clearest water around from what people keep reporting and I think it made all the difference. It was a reaction bite in 3ft of water. Very subtle bite but it pulled like it was a donkey. She got me hooked up in a submerged tree and broke me off but not before my partner got a quick peek at her. He's convinced it was a giant! Hopefully that means more females are soon behind looking to feed. Can't wait to get out there again. Good luck!
City: mantecaTips: Just as everyone else is saying, follow blue daddy ranger or look for the clearest water with some warmer temps. The big girls are coming out finally with this warming trend we're having. Watch out for wake boarders, I've seen them out already this year!
-
Water Temp: cold
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished with my dad in Holland's Cut on Saturday. Saw a lot of bass boats zooming back and forth. We were using senkos and jigs mostly, near structure along the rock wall. My dad caught 2.5 and a 4 on brown/purple jig with a cinnamon w/black and purple trailer. I missed one setting the hook. It was my first jig fish.
City: san anselmoTips: With the water so muddy, cast so much you hit them on the head!
-
Water Temp: 47-51.9
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished 4 hours. Found 51 degree water but couldn't get the fish. I know there in there. I've been using dark colors in the muddy water Maybe that's it. Will continue the work.
City: S.LTips: none
-
Water Temp: 46-48.5
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Called some people to get some advice on where the water is cleaner. Gave it a shot today but still finding very stained water with only one fish caught. It is still very tough out there and I know that White's and Mildren is cleaner but so does everyone else. Lots of boats out today with a couple of Tourney's not many fish were caught today at least that's the word that I'm hearing. Hopefully the water will warm and clear up by Saturday's tourney.
City: EDHTips: Search for cleaner water and you must fish real sloooooow....

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 41-44
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Found water with only 1 foot of visibility and found water with 6 feet of visibilty but it did not matter, they did not want to bite. I got one 3.5 lber at 5:30 pm on Sat on a 1/4 oz shakey head with a 6 inch warmouth Robo fat body, I fished from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm Sat with only one fish. On Sun I fished from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM with only one fish at 1:00 PM on a pumpkin seek 5 inch curly tail worm drop shotted. I fished a fav area for 45 minutes using drop shot, shakey head, rip, crank & 3:16 swim bait, got one smack on the swim bait but did not commit so I left for 45 min, I came back to same spot and there are 2 guys using minnows and the guy in front lands 3 fish in 15 minutes right where I could not buy a bite so I switched to a curley tail worm and dead stuck it, I did not feel the bite but I lifted the crucial drop shot rod and my line started moving ever so slowly and a 2 lber was on there, these fish are eating for sure but they want to see gills moving so that is why I went to the curly tail and it worked but only for one fish.
My 3.5 was in 15 feet of water and the 2 lber was in 25 feet of water. I spoke to a few Won bass guys fishing the vinard circuit and they were the AOY team last year and only had one a pc at 2:00 PM so I did not feel so bad, I spoke to a number of people and it was the same, zero to 2 fish per boat. If the weather stays this good for 2 more weeks we will see a huge turn around.
City: San JoserTips: If you want to just enjoy good weather go now, if you want to catch fish wait for 2-3 weeks but look for at least low 50's in water temp before heading out. It's going to bust open and I will be there. Go to the Delta and follow Cooch around and see where the heck he is getting those toads!!!:)

Water Temp: 41
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hit it hard on Saturday. Fished Rodman Slough for 2 hours. Threw everything. Jigs, Huddlestone, Senko, Staysee 90's, Slow rolled Spinner-baits, Drop-shot. Not a bite. Moved to Rocky Point and repeated. Fished deep water, Shallow water, Wooden Docks, Standing Timber even punched laydow tules with a Sweet beaver - nothing.
Went out Sunday afternoon and headed south to fish Cache Creek and surrounding area. Didn't get a bite.
I think the water is too cold. If anyone has had some success I would love to know what worked and where?
City: NiceTips: Make a sacrifice to the fishing gods!

New Melones Lake
-
Water Temp: 29-53
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: tough bite, lots of angling pressure prior to the weekend with blue bird skies. after we pulled out we heard that salt/pepper was producing, with fish in the 30-35-40' range, but go slow slow slow. we caught 2 keepers, one on watermelon trick worm on shaky head on a 30' hump, and another way upstream against the white cliffs in 35' on a redish 4" worm drop shotting. one rat in 35' on a mm3 sculpin dropshoting. god I hate this time of year, bring on the frog bite, it just can't come soon enough
City: Sonora

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 44-49
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished two back to back club tourneys on Sat and Sun. Sat only 1 team out of 12 cought a limit. Bite was very slow and reaction bite was off, however, the key was to find fish within the fist three hours of daylight because the bite was done by 10am.. All of our fish were caught on brown or green tubes, some teams caught a few on worms and jigs on sat but most fish were caught on tubes. Big fish for Sat was a little over 3lbs. and winning weight was just under 10lbs with five fish over the slot. Sun was a better bite for some teams and there were 2 limits weighed in out of 16 boats. Big fish was a 3.77, first place was just under 11lbs, and second was just behind by a few ounces. Both limits had all fish over the slot. There were reaction fish caught in the morning before the sun hit and then the bite shut off. Some teams reported catching several of their fish later in the day which also showed improvement over Sat.. All in all it wasn't too bad considering the water level of the lake and the temps, but it was definetly the slowest bite we've seen in a while for our tourneys.
Tips: Fish slow in the 15'-40' range-fish are scattered and hard to graph, but once you find a few they will bite in the mornings. Use tubes, jigs, and reaction baits. No real pattern as far as location or type of structure.
