Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I launched out of Granite Bay on 11-17-07 with no problem. You just neeed to follow the signs down to the ramp. The fishing was not bad. Caught them on reaction baits, dropshot, and spooning.
      City: Sacramento

      Water Temp: 58-60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started cranking points w/ timber on main lake, no luck, quit after surrendering two favorite cranks to the branches. Moved up to Yorty and promptly broke one off that wrapped me up in yet another branch. Branches 3, me 0. Kept flipping black/blue jigs w/ hula grub trailers at the wood, and finally got two cookie cutter smallies about 1.5 each. Started throwing a king shad swimbait, and got popped by about a 3.5-4lb LM appx. 2-3 feet off the bank. Lit up some scattered schools of bait in about 20-30ft, tried deep cranks, nada. That was the day, 3 in the boat, and I'm guessing at the weight, as my digital scale wouldn't work.
      City: San Anselmo

Tips: Reaction bite seems to be hit and miss, but better fish than plastics and jigs are producing. Mucho smelly jelly. Dark colored jigs in the muddy/stained stuff. Lotsa luck!

      Water Temp: 60-61

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of Browns Revine which just happens to be the only ramp facility that is still in the water. Slight bress out of the NW decided to motor down the south fork at 5mph which is the posted speed limit for the entire lake. Water level down 80-90 feet and falling. It is sad to see folsom with such low water levels. Fishing has changed on the lake with current conditions and the fish are stacked up in 25-30 feet. Partner and I only fished for 4 hours with no bites. That's a first for me, usually I can at least get a few rats. About 10 boats on the water and all fishing the South Fork.
      City: EDH

Tips: Get out and Fish if you can because I feel that this is going to be a very dry winter and the lake is difficult to fish at it's current water levels. So get out and re-learn the lake. Good luck-And keep posting..

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Shipwrecked on Clear Lake at 10 pm - no power except a small oar! I thought that sounded dramatic! Actually, I went with a friend who has a "new" '01 bass boat. After some great night fishing, his boat lost all battery power and we (I) paddled to Shag Rock. I had my cell phone - and with the help of Terry Knight of Lakeport, was able to get ahold of the sheriff who boated down from Nice and rescued us. He towed us to Brados Marina and jumped the batt and got us going! Thanks a million to the sheriff's dept and to Terry!!! My friend didn't have his medication with him so we needed to get back. To top everything off, the fishing was simply great after dark on brush hogs and 10" Power worms. We had 17 in the boat up to 7 1/4 lbs and I lost my first "hog" of the fall. In about 4 hours we were able to muster a limit of 24 1/4 lbs. Some were pretty shallow - maybe 8 to 10 feet.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: It used to be that one would never see another boat on Clear Lake in November. Not any more! I'll bet we saw 5 - one or two bass boats. Who could asked for better weather - it was not cold out there last night - very unusual. We didn't get to fish a lot of areas, just around Buckingham Point to Horseshoe Bay. We found the bass to be schooled a bit - we seemed to get more bites in some areas that others. Outer dock piling were holding some bass. Deep bass didn't seem to be as active, though I landed a 5 pounder in 25-30 feet of water.

Report: 10 fish all on breaks or drop offs 10 - 30ft. Brush hogs, drop shottin and a few jig fish. best 5 was only 12 lbs but at least I found them today.

      Tips: use your electronics.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started today at 9:45 am with my daughter on fishermans row. Left at 2:00 pm with 4 trout. We were the only ones who really had luck.
All were caught on chartruse power bait with glitter. I've been noticing i've been catching more males.
      City: Union City

Tips: Smaller the ball of power bait the more attention its been getting. Barely cover the hook. I dont know if it really had a factor but it seemed to get bit more often.

      Water Temp: 60's

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went to Spring Lake after school around 3:00 and fished until 5:00. Too bad I cant drive yet or I would have gotten there quicker! Anyway, fished with a smoke black senko with purple and had no takers, then I switched to a purple senko with blue. Once again, no takers, so I moved to the launch ramp with the purple senko and only had one bite and of course I didnt set the hook well enough and it got away. Felt like 2 pounds max. Worm was rigged wacky, and i worked it SLOWLY (maybe too slow! lol). Might be going with a buddy on tues. any help would be great for this time of year for me.
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: I think that the fish are closer to the middle of the lake. Using a jig or flashy purple worm in the weeds in the middle of the lake might get a big one. Anyone who has good experience on this lake advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sure do miss the Texas lakes, but finesse fishing is okay once in a while keeps out the boredom.

Report: Threw a swimbait most of the morning. only 1 fish. 3lbs. found a GIANT school of threadfin shad, amazingly big. fish finder just showed 2ft of bottom, when I know I was in 15ft. fished in and around that. 7lbr.......Catfish..... man did I think I had a big one on! Started drop shottin a break line and got 2 more up to 3.5lbs. It was a little windy and I avoided a few spots because of that.
      City: Petaluma

Tips: Your always rollin the dice with the swimbait, but it works year round for me. Drop shot will always get you something.

Report: I've been telling everyone lately that the Trinity Center ramp was good to 86' down. I fished today with the lake @75' and the back tires on my trailer were 6' or so from the end of the ramp. So apparently my memory has deceived me again. Anyway, unless we get some rain or BOR stops sending so much water over the hill, this may well be the last week of launching at T.C.
A lot of you have asked why I haven't posted in a while. Here's the story....... This summer while returning clients to the Wyntoon docks a couple of fishermen came up to me, politely introduced themselves, and proceeded to tell me how much they enjoyed reading my reports and how helpful they were. My first reaction was " you gotta be sh*ttin me " but they seemed sincere as well as clueless. I kept my cool and told them I was glad they liked my reports as they had just read the last one. Then I got in my boat and left. One of the guys had a limit of smallies that would have gone about 18 lbs and the others' limit was only a little smaller. I know this because they were holding up their stringers to show everyone who walked by. Needless to say, when I found out that I had been contributing to the slaughter I became phisically ill, and it's taken me this long to get over it. I now realize that teachin people how to catch more and better fish is a large part of my job, and I enjoy it. I guess I'll have to work harder to teach catch and release.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Started fishing aroound 7:30 a.m. Went around hitting points. Found a few but couldn't get them to bite. Around 1 p.m. caught 3 spots split-shotting. Biggest going 14 inches. My partner caught one largemouth on a jig around 15 inches. Went home about 3 p.m.
      City: El Sobrante

Tips: Look for calm areas with direct sunlight. Shady areas weren't producing at all or even showing fish. Good luck

      Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took the float tube out with my new depth finder today only to be surprised how shallow the Arroyo is. Found pockets of 10-20ft but the majority was around 3-8ft. Anyway, spotted fish in the middle of the lake but found numbers of fish still along the bank to 5ft. off the bank. Used senkos and was still able to catch a couple. (1) 2lbs. and (1) around 3.5lbs. Only out there for about 2hrs.
      City: Pleasanton

Tips: Senko's watermelon in color jigged weightless along shore and grass.
