Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Was there I bit after open, the fog was so thick in Oxnard we had too slow it down. No fish, first day I ever been skunked. Did see some fish in the shallows again, three weeks straight. The ones I saw that day and caught the past weeks are similar in that they are very thick and lit up, seem so healthy. Admit I not much good with a jig, new to it, and that seems to be the ticket if you chat at the ramp. Past weeks fish were all on worms.
City: OxnardTips: Did find some very thick schools of shad at the docs and many of the fingers, several bass feeding on them. I threw everything I had but have never had much luck pulling bass out of shad schools. Relied on crank baits at other lakes, but doesn

California Delta
-
Water Temp: Didn't check
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: My young son and I went to the Delta Yesterday for a little striper action around noon-thrity. It was slow but we managed 5 in the 3 to 4 lb range, one at 8 lbs. which he caught by himself. And in the evening, I stuck one that ran about 25 lbs. on top water. I handed the rod to him so he could battle this very large fish. It was a great way to end the day.
Tips: Mostly on modified rattle traps and the one on a topwater bait. Big break- Sherman Island and the river just outside of Lauritzens launch ramp

McClure Lake

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Me and my 14 year old nephew took off up to the lake for a few hours before Turkey time. I sure am glad we did as he managed to stick his biggest bass to date, a 10.4 pig!!! He caught it on a Berserk Baits jig in about 40 ft of water on the main lake. We also had a few decent spots, along with a bunch of rats. All in all it was a fun three hours.
City: AtwaterTips: All fish came frome 30-50 ft of water on 1/2 oz berserk baits jigs. The color is called Melon Craw, you can find them at Snelling 76, The bait barn, and soon at Escalon bait and tackle. Or check out the web site at www.berserkbaits.com

Quarry Lakes
-
Water Temp: cold
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went out to Quarry last weds and got skunked. Lost one five feet from shore at my secret spot. Got three bites, hooked one, the other two were just tap and go. I fished my spot the last two hours and got hits from there only. Some people were there when I got there so we fished the peninsula. Way too shallow. Baits used were worms and powerbait. All bites came on worms.
City: FremontTips: Long leader, and find a good drop off. The fish are deep, really deep. Try an inflated worm or some powerbait on a small treble hook. The smaller the better, just barely cover the hook. Don't fish peninsula, trust me way too shallow and a long walk. Try right across from it, saw people catch some trout. Also cast far, try different lengths to see where the fish are. The leader length that got me the bites was about 15 inches or so. Fish early and late.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 56-59
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished from dawn to 4:15 pm. Caught 30 fish for three people to 2lbs. Very cold this morning. it hurt my fingers. I think the fish felt the same way and we did not boat our first fish until 8:30am. Could not find bait any where in the main lake so we found areas with 5 to6 fish on the meter and fished slowly to pick up two fish. Used all plastics. No reaction bite. I don't think the lake has turned over yet.
City: San BrunoTips: find any area that hold fish and fish slowly even dead stick.

California Delta

Water Temp: 57 degrees
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Tip for David! Buy yourself: Gamakatsu 3/0 or 4/0(whatever you prefer) EWG Offset Worm Hook, 2 or 3 pkgs of Yamamoto 5" Senko Worms, 20# quality mono or a 30# braid, and a quality 6 1/2 to 7' med to med-heavy graphite fishing pole (Powell's my favorite fishing rod now. It used to be G.Loomis) Then go out to the Delta and fish structure (Tules, wood, or anything that is different than the ordinary) slowly. Fish that bait weightless and watch your line for any line movement. If it hits the bottom lift your rod tip up to move your bait a foot or so. Then re-cast after you don't get any hits.
City: SacramentoTips: Take your time fishing especially now that winter is getting close. Oh! I forgot to mention that if you see any line movement. Reel down the excess line and when you feel your rod load up, then haul back. And hold on!

Water Temp: 57-60

Report: Congrats for David and Marty on some nice bass! Who told you night fishing was fun?! Not true, har!!! Speaking of fun, some of the fun has left and the nights have finally turned chilly - but bearable! I guided a guy and gal last night and we had a respectable trip. She is a good fisherperson, having caught a 9+ with me on a previous trip and caught her PB this summer at 12 lbs, fishing on her own. She had a chance for another good bass around midnight but lost it. Overall, the bite was fairly good but quality wasn't as good - lots of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 lb bass. He got a beautiful, stout 5-14, she got a skinny 5, and my 6-2 wasn't very thick either. Our 4 to 4 1/2's were gorgeous however! We did break 27 lbs for our limit - 29 total bass, so, ok I guess.
City: Yuba CityTips: Bright moon and clear water isn't the best combination for night fishing - look for shadows. Look at the shadow pattern on steep walls - it will be the same underwater. Every nook and cranny shadow can hold a bass or two. My gentleman client is still learning things and I had to reminded him to face the bass when setting the hook. Sideways hooksets don't provide the power needed to solidly hook a big fish. He did a beautiful job of fighting and controlling his near 6 pounder. Bass at night always want to come to the surface and jump - even in cold water. Remember, during daylight - bass move from the pressure, at night - they usually move to the pressure. A fight with a big bass at night can be very short-lived - be ready with the net very quickly. Try to keep you rod tip a little higher at night. I have had clients unknowingly reel the bass past the tip of their rod. They keep swiming to the pressure. We caught most of our bass on Power Hogs and brush hogs, dark colors. A few on Blade Runner jigs - black red. I tried cranking before dark - nadda! We fished from Horseshoe Bay to the south end of the lake - docks and rocks.

California Delta
-
Water Temp: 58-59 degrees
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I took the kids fishing yesterday in the delta. I am fairly new to bass fishing as well as new to the delta. The wind made fishing very challenging out at Big Break. At times, my 48 pound thrust trolling motor could not keep up with the wind and tide. I should have realized conditions weren't good when I was the only boat out there. I decided to escape the wind and fish in Taylor Slough. My only fish was a nice 2lb LM caught drop shotting with a robo worm MMIII. Kids had a blast!
Tips: I don't know enough to be giving tips.

Report: I drive by Brown's Ravine every day on my way to work. Last couple days the "Ramp Closed" sign has been out front. Hoping it's just temporary as this was the last open ramp on the lake. What a sad state the lake is in right now.
City: EDHTips: If anyone knows a decent dirt launch (Granite Bay?), please post.

Merced Lake
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished for a couple of hours staring around 11:00am to about 1:00pm. There was absolutely no one at the South Lake or Impoundment. I just brought my ultralight gear. I started with an F-5 Rapala in silver and black, 3" brown Senko rigged Texas and whacky style. after about 45 bminutes, I moved and switched to a 4" wooly hawg creature bait on a jig head, Tule dipping off of the pier.
I didn't get anything, but had a nice outing on my day off and smoked a great TTT Trinidad Dominican Cigar.

Berryessa Lake

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I wasn't able to make it to the lake this weekend. I understand it took 13.5 pounds to win the tournament Saturday. Some of my
fishing buddies called me and let me know that at the spots I had
taken them too had produced over 12 pounds for five fish. Still waiting on a few more people to call me to let me know how they
did. Thursday I went out of Half Moon Bay on the 'Hula Cat' with
Capt. Tom Mattusch for rock fish combo. Rock fish was fair at best but all nineteen people walked off the boat with limits of crab. I am chartering this trip again for next year. On Saturday I fished out of the Emeryville Marina with Capt. Harry on the 'Seeker' for sand dabs and crab combo. I caught around 30+. This is fun for anyone. If you are interested in going on either of these trips get in touch with me and I will give you all the information. Wishing everyone a 'Happy Thanksgiving'. 'til next week...............good fishing!!!!!!!!!! www.fishingconnection.net If you have any
