Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: 8lbs 7oz off one of the main points (my secret spot). Spotted her following my worm all the way up to shore...she did this three times, just followed the bait to shore. On the fourth cast she took it in about 4-5 feet of water, 15 feet from shore.
      City: San Jose

Tips: I've been going out from 5-8, I'll work the points and mudflats from 5-7, and then move back close to the picnic grounds area and fish the shallows. work worm super slow, all the bigger ones seem to be hitting on the drop, or when the worm is motionless.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fish a half day on Friday so we stayed close to Franks track. My buddy caught a few fish using a brown jig with a smallie beaver trailer in the 2-3 pound range. I was throwing black and blue and not getting touched. I could get bit on plastics, but the quality wasn't there. The best fish (3-5 Lbs) came on a reaction bite, blades and red rattle traps in 3-6' of water.
      City: Walnut Creek

Tips: The best way to improve your fishing is to get a network of friends and put time on the water. Devil mountain bassmasters is a group of friends that fish together, share information and our goal is to have the best on the water experience. We are an active club that hosts speakers and offers a friendly, but competitive monthly tournament each month. If you would like to join in on our fun, please go to www.dmbass.com and come check out a meeting, we have room for more boaters.

Report: Went out from 4:30 pm. til past dark. I was happily suprised about the fishing conditions. We caught 'em on everthing we threw. We had numbers and good size for summer-time bass'n. Fish were shallow, and we caught them on bottom, suspended, and on topwater. Best 5 were just over 15 lbs.

Report: Glad to see the posts here. I haven't fished the Lake in a couple of months, but did catch a very big bass a while back. I didn't have a scale with me, but I would conservatively estimate around 9 lbs. Someone on a bike, riding the trail at the South Lake bridge saw me bring it in and came down to see the fish. He said he didn't know there were such large bass in the lake. Unfortunately, I have no pictures. Hope to get back soon...

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of Paradise with a friend and ran to some new water in preparation for Saturday's Stockton Bass Tournament. Can't tell you much bit we fished mostly in Franks using jigs and worms. My friend hooked into some really nice fish and we managed to land them all without a net. Talking about old school, try landing a 7lb bass by lipping it oh Yeh! Anyway he caught a 7lb, 5lb and two 4lbers best 5 going almost 21lbs. I'll post pic's of his fish after Sat tournament. Great job Paul (You're a good stick), I had a great time fishing with you and look forward to more trips in the future.
      City: EDH

Tips: I used ledge fishing technique that I learned last week while guide fishing with Rich Thiel. He's a great guy and I highly recommend him if you want to learn delta ledge fishing.

Report: Went out for a little night fishing. Not a great bite only boated 5 fish. 4 of them were dinks, but one was my new best! An 8lb even. The water is still dropping I think the lake will be just a puddle in a few weeks.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Water sucks due to an amazing amount of boat traffic, and large drawdown. Caught some on plastics, but very few on reaction baits. Might as well fish an entire arm to get 10lbs... but you may only get 7lbs. Fishing is terrible at this point.
      City: Redding

Tips: Go catch some frog fish on a lake with some cover.

Report: Fished for three days. Caught fish in a wide variety of sizes. (Yes, small ones too) It does not take much to get me excited. This was the second time I have fished here during the summer months. Nightcrawlers were doing there thing. We caught a ton of bluegill, over half were longer than 6". Also got several legal size bass and catfish. Yup, there was also a 4# LM that got away. Awsome trip.

      Water Temp: 74-78

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished a half day with a 12 year old boy. We started with top water action as the bass around Lime Saddle were everywhere. We caught a few bass in the bracket and then moved to the bank to try some drop shot and tubes. Caught a few more as we worked out to the main body. The wind was increasing so we started to throw some lipless crank bait. That started a power fishing expereince. We ended up with 75+ bass by 12:00 and there was no sign of the bite slowing. All bass were in the bracket with 6 at 15+.
      City: Paradise

Tips: When we started the lipless crank bait, we looked for mud lines to fish. Most of the bass came from 1 to 10 feet deep. Colors ranged from shad colores to blues and chartruse.

      Water Temp: very high

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: got there at 4pm. started out with a weedless purple grub and had no luck. then tried crank and no luck. tried senko and then i got two quick 1.5lb largemouth bass in 1/2 hour. switched over to a xrap shad minnow when i saw three big lunkers hanging out. one of them followed it but i didnt have enough room to work with. caught another smallie largemouth but with the xrap and then left. THE BIG ONES STILL THERE BUT DONT SEEM TO BITE.

but wow! i saw big fish. atleast in the 5 lb category just swimming around waiting for the train of threadfin shad. i tried to drop a senko in front of them but they wouldnt take it. i think they are too spoiled with the shad. the smaller ones are active though because the weather being so hot and all....
      good fishing buddies!
      City: santa rosa

Tips: drop a senko if you want action and go when the water is clear and not windy!!! you can see the interesting structures in the waters.

if you want the big game go with a big rapala shad/minnow jerkbait or maybe even a buzz bait.

      good luck.
if you ever go out there this week or next. call me up or email me. 408 655 3839

      Water Temp: warm

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Met someone today that said his biggest from the North Lake is 12lbs. Talked to many people that claim their best from Merced are 10-13lb. I'm pretty sure I hooked onto double digit bass but couldn't get them in. I have not seen one over 8-4 (my daughters) and don't need proof. I KNOW they're out there. Caught my personal best (7-10) July 2nd on a pumpkin baby brush hog using light spinning rod with 6lb test. The worker in the trailer when the concession was running said there are more and bigger LMB in the south lake because people used to bring them back from clear lake and berryessa released them. Picked up a one pounder today on the same rig as the 7-10 a few weeks ago.
      City: Daly City

Tips: The bass here are very finicky and it's not easy to get them to bite. Like all the other successfull bassers advise, fish slow. These fish have probably seen everything and been caught a few times because of the limited shore access, try something different.

Report: Got started in Frank's Track on a calm morning with hardly a ripple on the water. Fished the Tule Islands shallow side first throwing jigs, plastics and a few spinner baits. Not much action. Switched to a Chrome/Black lipless crank bait and got immediate action, but not much size. Biggest a 2+. Moved to the deep side of the Tules and picked up a nice 5+ with an 8" snake as it fell off the drop. Action stopped so we moved a bit south and fished points. A fish here and there but nothing big on plastics and crank baits. Finished up in Sandmound area and picked up a couple of 3's with Brush Hog and Sweet Beaver aournd high tide on the outside of docks. Best 5 around 15.
      City: Concord

Tips: Still learning the Delta and fishing the tides. Plastics still working best for us for our bigger fish.

Report: Started at 6 a.m fished a double bladed buzzbait, no trailer, near marina.Fished the edges of reeds and stickups. 6:10 2 pounder smashed the bait, hooked almost near the gills. Moved after 20 minutes towards stickups close to shore near Wadleigh Arm another two 2 pounders nailed the buzzbait. Finally, one more hit and he headed for the reeds and got stuck. I lost the buzzbait.I tried Zara spook and spinnerbait, but they seemed to like the buzzbait best.Met a guy at marina who caught 12 BIG crappie. I mean BIG.
      City: Oxnard

Tips: Fish early near the reeds and stickups or between them.
