Trinity Lake
-
Water Temp: 74 - 80
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Made the summer camping trip to Trinity with the family. This year I promissed to fish a little less which was tough. With the good bite I could get the line pulled good a few times by 9:00am and still spend the day with the family. The bite was pretty good in the morning after sun up and late afternoon before sunset. Middle of the day was tough with hot weather and only a couple small fish to show for a lot of sweat. The fish were in summer pattern with most found on main lake rocky areas near deep water. There were a lot of small fish shallow, but the bigger fish were mostly deeper (20-30 feet). The fish were concentrated and areas that produced fish would produce many. Each of the 3 morning trips and the one afternoon trip produced 2 fish 4# or over. In total had a 6.2 LM, 5.8 LM, 4.3 SM, and a 4.2 SM that were scale weighted. Also had 2 other 4# SM, a 5# LM, and a 4# LM there we eye ball weighted. There were many other fish from 4" to 3#. Of the 3 trips I have made to Trinity this years bite was the best for me.
City: BrentwoodTips: For baits/techniques I tried reaction baits but only had a couple small fish on topwater and a couple taps on spinners baits and swim baits. Best techniques were a 3/4 ounce jig with a watermellon hula grub and drop shotting watermellon 4.5" worms. Short leader 4" to 6" worked best on drop shot. The SM wanted the baits worked faster or would eat it on the drop. The LM wanted it worked slower or dead sticked.
All fish were released so that our children can enjoy fishing this special lake.

Anderson Lake
-
Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Caught and release 26 bass with the largest only 2lbs. Caught them on drop-shot cut-tails and AArons Magic shakey head in 3-15 ft on main lake points and rocky shoreline. Lots of boats but few fishing. Tried crank and C-rig but no joy.
City: Foster CityTips: Mud lines, mud lines. Find them and fish them.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 80-84
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Had a very nice guide trip yesterday at Berryessa - weather was hot but the fishing was at least warm. We started out of Steele Park with topwater and got a few with one of the fellow missing a good one! We then ran up to the Big Island area and threw worms and jigs. The 4 and 6 inch Robo worms worked well with morning dawn and prizm shad leading the way. We did some drop-shotting in 30 feet of water with Basstrix flashtrix minnows. We were targeting any off-shore drop-off we could find - most held some nice bass, including smallies to 2 1/2 lbs and largemouth to 2 lbs 2 oz. We only caught one dink spot and the other was about 2 1/4 lbs - nice fish. We caught well over 20 bass with a nice limit of 10+ lbs.
City: Yuba CityTips: Topwater is still happening but with the now very warm water it may slow. Mornings should offer the best bite now since the water is in the 80's. The jig bite was kind of slow yesterday though we did get a few. We looked for bait and bass on the X-26 and then dropped a drop-shot or worm to them and they ate. Our best bite surprisingly was 11 am to 1 pm.

Cachuma Lake
-
Water Temp: 73
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Arrived at Cachuma about 6:00 am. There was an Anglers Choice tournament with about 20-25 boats. Not crowded at all though. Didn't get to see what the biggest bass or largest bag was. I started off at Harvey's cove and threw a Zara Spook. I had a couple small smallies hit it but nothing major. I then moved along the Cistern and caught about 10 smallies and largemouth on a Rapala Xrap. Largest around 2 pounds. After that I cruised over to Johnsons canyon and worked the walls. I caught another 10 - 15 smallies and largemouth on Rapala Xrap's and Senko's. Nothing huge. I just wish I could catch some bigger fish. Maybe next time. How did everybody else do?

California Delta

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Went solo sat.Launched at Riversend Marina and headed toward Discovery Bay. Wind was howling and tide bottomed out at 7:40 and I launched at 6:15 am. Decided to try topwater and swim bait first. Fooled around with them until 9am. Nothing ! Headed into Disco Bay and started a steady pick around the docks on Senkos And Black texas rigged 8" worms. The worms were the hot ticket. Stopped at a nice restraunt for Breakfast at noon. Then headed toward Victoria island. The tide was dropping and started getting some good size bass around the points working the weed edges. On one point with the wind and tide howling around the corner thought I saw line move and set the hook. Largest bass this year, just a hair under 10#s. I shook the scale several times but it stayed under 10#s. Ten minutes later 6.5#s. Ended up catching 30 bass for the day and biggest 5 fish 28.4#s. Not a bad day. That kicker sure kicked the weight up.
City: BrisbaneTips: Try different things until you find what works. The water was real muddy and I still find Black to work the best in mud, or real clear conditions. If I had to choose only one color of plastic it would be Black.

Water Temp: o
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: This report will be kicked off by cooch or his buddies . Fished around coochies' house because he always dumps a bunch of big ones there. Sure enough the fish were not hard to get. I would estimate a limit about 17 pounds. Not very big weight, but I can use the info for a culling tool later on for a tourney. Deep with shade with 8'' inch drop shot in margaritta.
City: sacTips: Think of his area as a bass factory.

Water Temp: 77
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Dissapointment at 0600 hours. Air temp 74 degrees, wind 5 mph out of the north and water temp at 77 deg. As I was approaching the marina I saw what looked like fog and I said no way. When I arrived at the marina everything and everybody were covered with insectecide from a farmer who was crop dusting everything in sight. Boat, truck and myself completed covered with a powderey substance. Not sure if he missed his mark or if it was done on purpose. Decided to fish for 6 hrs. Fished Mildred and started off with swimbait and immediately hooked into a 3.5 lber. Next cast a huge blowup but no hook up and I didn't even get a chance to see the fish. No more blowups on swimbait. Decided to throw crankbait and hooked 3 more fish a couple of 2 lbers and then a 5lber. It appears that fish are settling into their summer pattern. Lots of pleasure boats on the water so be careful.Best 5 may have gone 13lbs.
City: EDHTips: Crankbaits and swimbaits worked for me today.Be careful of crop dusters and pleasure boaters.

Camp Far West Lake
-
Water Temp: 84.
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished CFW for the first time in about three months. Took the kids and didn't get out until about 6:30 PM. Lots of boat traffic on the water, but that is to be expected. Fished up near the river looking for some clear water. Managed a few smaller fish on a luckycraft. A few more on plastics, I do agree with the earlier post: It seems like the fish fought better than thier size. After sunset the topwater picked up and we had lots of fish striking, with a hookup about every third strike. Best fish was on topwater @ 3.14 Not a bad three hours fishing. :-)
City: LincolnTips: Don't be afraid to switch up your regular routine

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 80-83
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I guess I have to guide on more Saturdays since today my clients and I had a triple hookup and landed them all! I have had those at other lakes but not Clear Lake. That was a good omen since we had a good day along with more pleasure boaters than one would ever want to see. I think I am still seasick, er, lakesick!! One of my clients had only bass fished a few times before but did well on green pumpkin worms, though he lost several. I worked with both of them on their hookset. I was jazzed early when I stuck a 6-6 in an area I hadn't caught a big bass in years. I decided to try a blue/black jig since everyone had been raving how good they have been. I added a #157 (purple) Yamamoto single tail 5" grub as a trailer and that big bass wacked it, along with many others! I had the other client use the #921 Senko (brown/purple) and he did very well. He then used the Hemphill Special brown/orange jig with #180 grub and he caught a few, but not many. That's what I have been using the past few trips, so, maybe they shut off to that color today. I was going to try it later but didn't get around to it. I tried the LV500 and got my first crank fish of the year. A really fun trip ended with 31 bass in the boat (many were lost) and a nice limit a little over 22 lbs.
City: Yuba CityTips: I am keeping my eye on the overall quaity of the bass since the shad population is way down. Some bass seem a bit underfed but a few we caught this afternoon looked like bass of old - fat and heavy. I guess the jury is still out. We did catch many 2 and 2 1/4 pounders today, maybe because they bite on weekends!! Deep water access was the key for us today - sudden dropoffs from approx 15 to 27-30 feet. The Oaks arm had some pretty good color while some of the rest of the lake is still pretty clear. I wonder if that will change with the heat? I took the fellows to Henderson Point - my first visit there for awhile. One of the guys got one on the first cast but it was dead after that. Could be timing. Might have been good early. Anyway, we are all used to the great fishing at Clear Lake, but each and every time, remember - many folks around the country are wishin' they could fish this amazing lake - and it is in our own "backyard"!

Eastman Lake
-
Water Temp: 79.4-83.7
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got on the lake at 6 AM and caught fish until we left at 2 PM. Me and my partner caught 30-35 fish between 8-12" and 5-10 fish between 13-17". We used top water, crank baits, and Oxblood 6" worms(most were caught on these). The water is getting low. It has dropped atleast 25' in a month and half.

Folsom Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Same problem as Duhman. Waited in line at the gate of Ganite Bay so we got on the water later than we wanted to for the top water bite. Straight out of Granite Bay and to the right at the Penninsula. Fished the wind blown side of 2 islands that are out of the water. My partener had several blow ups and hooked 2- 3lb + large mouths on a Nip- dinger. I threw spooks, buzzbaits and various top water for nothing. Moved up the north river arm fishing rocky banks and points picking up 2 on drop shotted morning dawn and 1 more on a white Norman crank bait. Wind and wake boards ended our day at 10:30.
City: loomisTips: If you only have weekends to fish folsom. Fish from 5:30 to 10:30AM and get out before the mayhem!!!

Report: Couldn't get on water early, gate was closed to well after the good topwater bite. Turned left out of Granite upriver points, using spook. Got only keeper spots (four). Threww dartheads for a while caught a few more but they were clones. Left before it got hot.
City: DavisTips: Poiunts and topwaters early, when bite slows go deeper.

Pardee Lake

Water Temp: 76 degrees
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Sonora Bass held a club tournament on Saturday. 17 teams competed, only 3 teams caught limits. Jim James and George Broekema took first place with 21.18 lbs. James Smith and Jason Wood took second place with 20.75 lbs. Nick & Karen Chipponeri took third with 17.26 lbs. Most fish were caught on plastics. Drop shotting, dart head, texas rig & shaky head. Geen pumpkin and watermelon. The fish came from 1 foot to as deep as thirty feet. As the sun got high, the fish hid just out of sight, around 20-25 feet. Rod Bayers caught a 4.58 smallie that was beautiful to look at. Tony Serrano caught a nice 4 lb smallie as well. Honorable mention goes to Carol Krawchuk because she caught all the fish and her husband Dave did NOT. For info on the club call 928-5803
City: SonoraTips: Catch them early. Use soft plastics in green pumpkin & watermelon. Good Luck.

Pinto Lake
-
Water Temp: 74
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hadn't seen a report on this Lake for a long time, so decided to go and make one myself. Caught 5.
2 dinks on a white buzz bait in the early morning. The rest on a 4" weightless Senko in watermelon and black and red flake. The largest was an even 2#. All fish caught tight up against the bank in heavy cover.
City: MontereyTips: Tried a black and blue jig with a blue trailer without success. Next time I'd try a black and blue
jig with a dark trailer with red flake based on how they inhaled the Senko.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I was not on a boat. I charged up Yorty Creek to see if there were any cats there but there wasnt, not a single bite. I strapped up a thomas boynton lure and caught bluegills for shits and giggles but there I caught a 2.5pd largemouth near the yorty creek boat launch. A few days later I tossed the same golden thomas boynton on the right of the swimming area and hooked up on 3 good size crappies. (all this fishing was at 8:30pm)
if anybody charges up to sonoma, i charge there every other day. call me up 408 655 3839...i dont have a boat hahaha
City: Santa RosaTips: just work the weeds and beds on the right of the swimming area and you will succeed. i caught a small bass off of a floating jointed rapala a couple days ago too.( crappies will go crazy in that area if you have a gold thomas boyton/rapala)

Report: Fished the north lake early in the morning, first cast using a spinnerbait and hooked on a 9 to 8 lb. LMB after i casted about 3-4 times i hooked on to another good sized LMB it came up to the surface but threw the spinnerbait away. After fishing for about an hour i got bored and decided to move to south end of the lake and was catching little 1 to 2 lb. LMB using a jig and trailer. i caught a carp unexpectedly using that same jig to so it was a good weekend at lake merced. caught about 10 fish over the weekend.

Report: Got a day off, fish have disappeared from last trip. Went to main lake underwater point caught three backs and one smallie. Two were keeeper size. Threw top water spooks early, got a few blow ups , but no hookups. i should have thown a pico, something smaller. Went up the river caught four keeper blacks and one smallie about 12 inches long. Boy this trip was bad.
City: stocktonTips: maybe i should have thrown smaller baits and dart heads. They didn't want the bigger stuff.
