Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went to Clear Lake for only the second time ever and fished for 3 days. My Dad and I caught so many fish it was unbelievable. We started in the afternoon at Shag Rock and fished to Buckingham point catching many fish near rocks and structure just offshore with Senkos "Wacky and Texas, #208 and 301" The biggest was a 6lbs 10oz toad (my personal best) and many 2, 3, and occasional 4. The next morning we started near Long Tule point with Frogs and Spooks and had a couple of blow ups but only a few hook ups. We also caught a few on Senkos there (same colors) but nothing much so we decided to try Anderson Island. There caught a bunch over there on Senkos from the shore out to 12 feet. I also caught some split-shotting with a brush hog. In the afternoon and evening we fished around State Park and caught several small to medium fish on crankbaits (casting parallel to the tules and making contact with the bottom, ripping it out then they would strike) as well as Senkos and drop-shotting MMII's near the submerged, isolated vegetation.

On Friday morning it was our best day ever. We started at Lake Side Park and fished to Quercus Point. We were casting Senkos in every color imaginable (we literally caught fish on 12 different colors). Most fish were 2 to 3lbs, but we did catch several 4's each and at least three 5's. Most were up against the tules, some were also right off the first break where it goes from 3 feet of water to 5 feet. We must have caught a fish every 5 to 10 minutes. After working that stretch several time we noticed some cruisers and other bass off the shore a ways (wind was so light could see them really well) We then started to sight fish a few and had the best luck with a Shakey-Head and a MMIII worm. One fish wanted nothing to do with it until I drug it up to him and tapped him with it. He sucked it in and it was 4.5lbs fish.

This Lake is on fire and even being new to it we were able to catch fish after fish. You could probably catch fish on Senkos all day, but we did enjoy seeing different parts of the lake and catching them with different techniques.
      City: Fresno

Tips: When the wind was calm and and the water was clear we stayed back off the tules and made longer casts. A lot of fish would come out of the tules to hit the Senko even if it wasn't at the base of it. If they did not hit it on the fall we would wait 5 seconds, drag it about 2 feet and let if sit again. Many of the fish hit it pretty hard and others you would just see your line move.

Make sure you also bring some lotion for your hands because they get tore up from catching so many fish!

      Water Temp: 71

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Met a friend from Red Bluff at 6am at Limit Out. We launched right there and within 15 minutes had 17 pounds, just like that. We moved that number to 22 pounds by 2pm when we quit. Big fish was 5-14. The lake is on fire. I agree with the previous post about lure selection. We stayed south of the narrows and fished docks and offshore breaks. The lure list was Vixen, Spook, frog, Senko (wacky and Texas), jig, Norman D-20, Beaver, wooly grub. Like about everyone else, we caught 40 fish, too. Clear Lake is just amazing.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I took a couple out Saturday that were up here on business and wanted to see and fish our beautiful lake. We started on the main body with some pop-r's fishing in the shade. With only small fish responding we went up to the N. Fork to fish the walls and points. Useing senko,s and tubes they did very well. By 11am the boat traffic and wind made it difficult to use senko,s and tubes so I changed to spinner baits. They were having so much fun catching bass on the spinner baits they extended their time to fish longer. They ended the day with 30+ with 1 over.
      City: Paradise

Tips: top water in the early morning, tubes in clear sparkle and motor oil and senko's in pumpkin and water mellon on walls and points and white and chartruse spinner baits on points and rocky walls.

Report: Vis good generally, stained in narrows. Still fishing the Senko on the rocky banks. Found a couple off Cachuma bay in 25 ft and also a nice #4 in the narrows. Things are changing though so time to find new fish.

Tried the wacky jig thing first time off Bobcat in 25ft, lost 2 small fish; interesting new technique but the hooks are a "odd" angle.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of Paradise hoping to get on a frog bite but it never happened. Tried throwing the black trixie shad with success either. Fished Dissipointment, the pump house, the main river and whites all with no success. I did catch a 6in fish on the frog and a 1-1 1/2lb on a senko wacky. It maybe due to the winds that have muddy up most of the water in the areas that I fished even White's was more dirty then normal. I also tried the jig and lipless cranks with little success only 6 fish from 6inches to a pound and a half is all I could get. I wanted to run to Mildrens and Franks but was searching for new productive areas but none found today. Boy it was hot today a 103 for the high and the low was 74. I guess any day on the water is better then sitting around the house. Any advice from the regular delta rats or from the pro's. Please email with advice, all will be accepted.

Report: Great fluke bite Thursday evening and Friday morning. Thought heat would drive them deep. Not quite yet! Solid 10# limit both days. Best fish was a 3.5 + (est.) Largemouth.
Throw on some sun screen and head up the North Fork. Most points held fish, Coves not so great for us.
This is one great lake! Not crowded, lot's of action, a variety of shoreline structure, and tons of wildlife watching you "jerklips".
      City: Oroville

Tips: Pearl Zoom Flukes, Yamamoto grubs (Pumpkin/green), tubes (3/16 dart), and Robo Worms. 5'-30'.

      Water Temp: 77-80

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I decided to see what effect the heat would had at Amador in the evening and at night. It had an effect - bad! After a few good topwater evenings during the cooler weather, last evening was dead! I did get 2 on a Blade Runner black buzzbait just before dark. After dark I only 3 - the biggest at 3 lbs 5 oz off the dam. They all hit 10" Power worms. I did loose a big one on that worm. Pretty slow as the bass adjust to the now warm water!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: There may well be some deep bass but not many showed up on my Lowrance X-26. Most of the bait is right near the surface. Frogs didn't work probably because the bass had suddenly move out of the shallows!

Report: While a welcome wind continues to blow and the heat of the day will leave you thankful for even the smallest bit of shade, there was a solid bite going on in the delta. Today, I had the pleasure of fishing with one of my club buddies and we covered some water and threw many baits. We are in a summer pattern, so top water is working all day. Plastics and jigs continue to deliver fish. Darker color senko were delivering better than other colors, with the hot color being June bug, which I promply ran out of. Looking back, I should have been throwing a spinnerbait too. but I didn't.

As you would expect, the bulk of bites were in the 1-3 pound class and our biggest fish, a lovely 4-13 was picked up by my partner on a lizard.

If you would like to join us, the Devil Mountain Bassmasters will be fishing our July tournament in the Delta. For more information, please go to www.dmbass.com or give me a call at 925-639-7724.

Tips: It's a good time to use up all those plastics that are sitting in your garage...

Report: Started in the Break about 8am throwing frogs and spooks with low and falling tide. Got a couple 2 1/2's on frogs in the marina then moved out. Found a little patch of off shore grass and got a 3 on the spook. Next cast got a 5.2. Proceeded to catch 12 off that little clumb, one dink and all the rest nice 2 3/4-3 1/2lb limit fish.. very aggressive. Saw several follow hooked fish to the boat. Made a few moves, got a 3 3/4 on the swimbait. Went back to the spook and the frog again and had a huge explosion, saw this giant head and mouth come out of the water and I was sure this one was a double digit. Got her in the net and she's totally spawned out,,very skinny.. weighed in at 7.14. About noon the tide was near slack low and my topwater bite wasn't paying off. Moved towards Franks and switch to flipping a tube. Got 5 or 6 rats then nothing for about an hour, but I kept at it hoping from spot to spot flipping anything that looked good. About 2 the tide started moving in pretty good, I came up on some junk,, flipped the tube and stuck a 3 1/2. Flipped right back and Thunk! Swung hard, dragged her out and swung her in the boat.. a perfect looking 6.11 football.. reminded me of Clear lake fish. Now I'm in the zone,, two minutes later I flip into the same junk and as soon as the tube falls below,, Thunk! this one tries to take the rod away from me.. I'm still in free spool, so I thunb it and drill her on the set. She's big, no she's huge. My Lamiglas 797 extra heavy grass rod is doubled over like never before. I engange the reel and she strips about 3 feet of line straight down and then she's gone. Now this is my frog set up w 50# braid and that drag is as tight as it can be. What happened? I check out the bait and it's absolutely perfect. That toad clamped down so hard my hook point never even came out of the bait. You've got to be kidding me.. Now I'm just sick to my stomach. I catch a few more 3- 3 1/2 lb fish flipping the tube but never really get my Mojo back. Bets five around 26 1/2 - 27lbs

Tips: I have none.. too depressed,, gonna lose some sleep over the one that got away.

      Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I contrast to what the previous report said, I found the water visability to be around 20 feet! I visited the lake for three hours - 5:45 to 8:45 am, just throwing topwater! The Chug Bug was my lure of choice and it nailed a 1 3/4 lb largemouth right away. After missing a nice one, I saw my bug disappear in a shadow area and I had a nice one I thought. She jumped once and I thought smallie! About 30 seconds later she cleared the water by three feet - maybe the biggest jump I have ever seen from a bass. I also say - "they are lean and mean" after the spawn. I had to loosen my drag twice and finally netted a 3 pounder (on photo page). These bass need "accuracy training"!! I had 4 more blowups - two from big bass, and they totally missed the lure. Amazing. The water clarity defies imagination - stay in shadows as long as you can.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I didn't do any other type of fishing - just tried to make the topwater happen. If I could have gotten one or two of the ones I missed, it could have been a pretty good trip! I tried a Sammy quite a bit also - no takers!

Report: Fished 5 hrs with Bob Thein today caught 60 Bass 3-5 pds drop shot in jago bay. My fourth trip this year with Bob and another GREAT trip. Never went 5 min. Without a hit just when you think it can't get better it does. There lake is unbelievable.

      Water Temp: 76-79 Degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started at 7:00 P.M....Fished up and down Cottonwood with some success. Caught about 10-15 between my buddy and me...all 12-14"..best were on a Chartreuse/Silver SpinnerBait...the rest on plastics: Delta Bug, Silver/Blue Flake Grubs, and Cotton Candy 6" Lizards...Caught my first "Toad" of the season at the point across from where the house boats used to be right outside Temperance...8.5 Pounds, 25" Long Black..caught her on a 6" Black worm with Chartreuse tail-Texas Rigged...strangely enough her tail was all torn up, wonder if she is a late spawner? Anyways we did well overall. All fish were caught in 6-10' of water, best off of points and rock piles...
      City: Merced CA

Tips: The wind sucks..but it helps blow the shad in..as my buddy Anthony Tanachion would tell me...focus on points on the south end..and if possible run up river...awesome cover is now exposed since levels have dropped almost 20' since the spawn..the water is now stained pretty good by afternoon, so think alternate colors, watermelon/Red, Brown/Red with Chartreuse Tails or Off-Shad colors....don't forget about blades at sunset...
