Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Clear Lake was looking good for the 3 day weekend. Not too hot, not much wind, and I had 2 outdoor dinners with no bugs at Rancho Ricardo! I fished some on Sunday around Oak Cove with my wife and friend Rob. They drop shotted I threw a Spot Remover with a green pumpkin Trick worm. It all worked. My wife got 4, I got about the same, all late in the day in about 45 minutes. But I had a guide trip Monday so it was early to bed. The trip was on fire! It was so good my friends will never believe me. I was out on a guide trip with Bob Myskey of www.fishclearlake.com and my friend Rob "Mr. P." a middle school teacher from Pleasanton. We (Rob and I) wanted to try topwater in the morning, we met Bob in Lucerne at 6:30 and headed out trying some spots on the upper east side of the lake. We didn't land many, and moved towards the Narrows, not much action there either. So Bob said reel them up and we moved to fish the next 4 hours on spots above Shag Rock. Man it was on. Smaller fish were up tight, bigger fish were deep. Rob had the big fish over 6, I had a big fish over 5, lots of 4's in the mix our best five were close to 25. Total for the day was 64 healthy hard fighting fish (lots of jumpers) most in the last 4 hours from 7:30 to 11:30. It was hard to stop. It was an unreal day! Even the boat traffic wasn't that bad. Thanks Bob!
City: Oakland/ClearlakeTips: The water was still pretty clear. I love seeing the fight with these fish. I saw one about 10 feet from the boat shake his head about 10 times in a row really hard and fast and right in front of me. That was exciting. Bigger fish were deeper. We caught the fish on drop shot, very little action, almost dead stick. Not much seen shad in the water, hope that isn't a bad sign.

Report: JIGS JIGS JIGS....I finally have confidence in my jigs. Took my 4 year old son Kobe, 7 year old daughter Michaela and the wife to CL for a family fishing trip. Arrived at 1pm and told myself figure out the jig and thats it. Well about 20 fish later (mostly 3-4lbs)I have the confidence I need to Throw it whenever now. Kobe caught his first 3 fish ever, one being a 4 lber. Michaela got a 3.5 just before dark on a senko and the wife....well she'll get lucky later.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: On day 1 the 26th, I fished from the dock at Reel Inn trailer park 3:30pm to about 7:30pm with about 4 other park fishermen. Everyone was catching fish. Biggest went about 4lbs. Most of us were using shakey jig worm tech. Margarita Mutilator worked well and Watermelon. Others were using drop shot. On the 27th went out in the boat with my fish buddy Frank for about 4 hours. We landed 25 fish to 3lbs. Shakey slayed them again. Most all fish were caught were bolders were prevenlent along the shore line. 28th I went by myself and landed 20 in 5 hours on shakey again! I missed at least as many or more though. Most fish 1 to 2 lbs. I stayed in about 20 to 15 feet of water and just cast towards the rocks. Most fish hit on the fall. Wake & Ski boats plus wind made the water rought at times. This lake just is the best I have ever been on.
City: WindsorTips: Thanks to Scott & Justin from the Rohnert Park Pro Shop for you tip and how to use the Shakey Jig Worm technique! You have to set the hook very hard or else! I was using a light-med spinning rod 8lb test. I think I will upgrade to med-heavy next time though for more hookups.

McClure Lake
-
Water Temp: 75 Degrees
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 8:00 P.M. until 2:00 A.M...caught about 20-24 fish, average size 2 Pounds. The best rig was Black/Red Flake Senkos hooked wacky style. Fished the point near the McClure Point Dock, and all of Ski Cove. Also caught a couple of decent fish on Topwater....Lots of fish jumping, (and lots of Carp!!!)
City: Merced CATips: Throw anything black at night, if the moon is out..I like red flake...if it's dark..then plain black...the lake seems to be better in the afternoon/evening than in the morning....I think the water becomes stained, and gives the fish cover...whereas the lake on the south end is crystal clear in the morning..just my opinion. Seems that the slot limit is making the average catch a little bigger each year.

Pardee Lake
-
Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 6:30 to 12:30 and only caught a few fish. Actually the backseater did. Threw topwater, ripbaits, Senkos and crankbaits. But the only thing that produced was the dropshot. Infact it was a shallow bite with a cast and not a vertical retrieve. Took three fish, a 5.2, 4.6 AND A RESPECTABLE 0.9 smallmouth. The other two were spawning largemouth (still had eggs and bruised tails). Caught those fish at 11:00.
City: OakdaleTips: Good luck and try the topwater early on the points of the main lake, didn't think of that till later. Duh.

Water Temp: Unknown
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished both the Island Pond in the morning and the Arroyo "hidden" lake in the afternoon on Memorial Day.
Bite was pretty slow on the Island Pond. My buddy, LTC, and I basically got two bites in the morning and caught one just around the island near the shore. Tons of tubers out and I didn't see many fish being caught.
Arroyo was a bit better. I caught a 2 pounder and missed a bite pretty much during midday. I didn't deviate from my baits other than color and was throwing a weightless Senko into cover.
My buddy had TONS of success throwing a frog. With all the weeds starting to clog up the water, the frog is definitely a good option right now. He got 7 or 8 bites at least.
City: San MateoTips: Bring your sun screen. It's getting hot as hell out there.

Cachuma Lake

Water Temp: 62-67o
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Gold Coast Tourney today with 19 boats on hand. Early low fog at 6AM launch with weather reports saying sunny to low 70's and 9mph winds. Well, temps were close but not till after 1 and the winds were close as well but failed to add that 14-15mph gusts. --- Cachuma Bay is clearing from last week but still chocolate colored but fish are there. Partner and I had a great start on top water with three in the boat on our first stop but all were too small, headed to second stop and the same, small fish. Partner finally pulled a keeper and we headed out towards the river. Only hit and miss so moved towards the dam looking for more weight. Hard day with only three in the hole and a dissapointing 13th placing.
Winners in with 23 and big at 6.58, second in with 11.53, third in with 10.81, 4th at 9.48 and so on. arted with jigs on a spot they hit the week before but switched to a senko weightless back in the river area where they stayed pretty much all day.
City: Santa MariaTips: Smaller fish were in close and bigger post spawn fish were holding on points in small areas. Senkos are always a good choice worked slow as was Sweet Beavers weightless. I hit a good top water AM bite on a silver MegaBass popper but didn't get to try the Rico as it shut off. No crankbait fish today which was sad.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Clear Lake Oaks around 8 am with a late start I started on walls immediately at the ramp and started catch some 2.5 pound speed trap fish. I then moved over to the east side of Anderson Island and caught several more speed trap fish but move out to around 20 feet and caught a few on a jig. Move up to Hey 20 side across from State Park and caught some more speed trap fish and jig fish but the wind was picking up and with all the boats on the water I felt like a cork bobbing up and down so i move back into the Keys catching a few on speed trap but main the jig. All in all about a 45 fish day with a 5.9 for my biggest.

Water Temp: 70 -76
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Arrived at the Red Bud ramp at midnight - we slept until 5am and started right at Beeman island, did not even start the big motor and caught 15 to 20 fish before the sun came up. :) My friend started off throwing wacky riggged senkos and caught two fish on his first three casts, both around 3lbs. I was throwing a spook with no takers, I switched over to to T-rigged sweet beaver and whacked about 10 fish up to 3lbs. We then moved over into Jago bay and started working the docks and tules in between. Found most of the fish had moved out a ways and caught them on the texas rig ROBO 7" MM. It really did not matter what I put on as it was more the areas we fished it seemed like. What was cool is that you can be fishing behind other boats and still pick up fish if you do opposite what they did. We fished until 1:30 pm and then got some rest. I would say we caught 60 to 80 fish in that time.
Got back on the water at 6pm. A little windy and the boat traffic was a little heavy as the wakeboaders -skiers were coming as close to us as possible. We did manage to pick up about 15 more up to 3lbs that came on Senkos for my pard and I was using a 10" power worm in Blue fleck and Junebug to get the bigger fish. 6 plus lbs. This was at night until 10pm. Weird, but No spook or frog fish on this trip. :(
Sunday 5am head right over to Baylis point and fished all the way over to Lakeview point w/out using the big motor and caught 30 fish up to 5lbs. Wow, What a phenomemal fishery this is.
It got to the point that if you did not get bit after 10 minute you thought something was wrong. Yep, casting accuracy comes into play once the sun gets up and your target area gets smaller and the fish move into the shade. Easy pickings once you figure them out. Now go fishing to Clear Lake...
City: Santa ClaraTips: just go..... Use sunscreen, wear a hat and drink plenty of water.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The wife and I had a great day today. We caught decent numbers of fish. She outdid me with the most fish, she had 35 to my 32. I however had the biggest fish of the day a 5-6 taken on a shakey head worm. I also caught my first ever smallmouth on a MMII drop shot, that was quite a surprise to say the least. We found fish everywhere we stopped and caught fish on the shakey head, LV 500, drop shot, senko and jig. The fish are starting to show up in their summer haunts and many of the fish we caught today were quite wore out from the spawn. Their was a TON of boat traffic on the lake, but we had no problems finding plenty of water to fish.
City: PetalumaTips: Get out and fish, the bite is pretty much wide open. However you like to fish should produce. for use today it was watermelon and MMIII worms and brown jigs that produced the most fish for us.

Water Temp: 72-74
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit the lake on Sunday with the crowds. On the water around 10, waited 30mins for my turn to launch. We swam and fooled around until a wind came up at around 1pm...fished the mudlines (thank you wakeboarders) for fast action. 30 fish in about an hour and a half, mostly Aarons magic robos and flukes
City: BeniciaTips: The fish were suspending in 12 to 25ft under the mudlines. Look for banks that the wind blows into.

Don Pedro Lake
-
Water Temp: 67 Degrees
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the C&C tourney today with my wife. We maged to stick several fish many small males and some suspended females. Maged to get the full bag of seven fish at 11.73 pounds.
Really had to work for our fish today. We used 6-lb florocarbon line drop shotting small 4-1/2" robo worms off flats, main lake points and secondary points. Alot of the fish were suspended.
What a great tourney to fish, I reccomend this one to all Ranger owners. Everybody wins in the raffle lures, hats, rods, reels etc. and a free tri tip bar-b-q. All for a measly $50.00 bucks entry fee. Paid out to 21st place with top prize $2,100 bucks. See you all next year at the annual C&C tourney at Don Pedro.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I took out a father, grand father and grandson out on one the busiest weekends of the year. Boats, house boats, jet ski's all over the lake. To keep it enjoyable we kept to rocky walls, some what away from the baots. We only used senko's and tubes to catch nearly 80 bass with 5 over. It was really great seeing 3 generations all catching fish. Lots of double and one triple hook-ups. We fished from 6:30am to 1:00pm. on the West Branch to the main body.
City: ParadiseTips: Rocky walls using pumpkin and water melon senko's and tubes in brown craw, motor oil and clear sparkle colors.
