Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Spent the last week vacationing at Shasta. I launched out of Bridge Bay. I started out throwing the Lunker Punker swimbait. My quality fish seemed to come off the bait in the mornings. I stayed shallow most of the week. I must have released about 200 fish over the week. I look forward to next year on beautiful Shasta.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: If you want quality fish throw the bigger surface swimbaits.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished with clients on Thurs and Friday. Thurs trip was pretty much like fishing in a washing machine with high winds. Caught a few fish and the back-seater, Jack may have caught a lake record, but it had to be released as it was caught outside the mouth. I'm guessing it would have topped 250 lbs and was caught on a ball jig just above the ear. Watch your backcasts guys.
Fridays trip was much better fishing as the wind didn't come up till 10:00. Showed the guys how patience really pays off when fishing topwater. They caught some pretty good smallies on top and a few fish on cranks before the washing machine conditions started all over again.

Tips: Hope the Cottonwood and Chico clubs will let us know how they fared this weekend.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: What a great day on the lake Had blow ups all day through the afternoon took my wife and kids , both my daughters caught fish on plastics it was crazy I fished top water all day and produced some nice fish. Fished my normal spots around markley cove and no fish, couple dinks, went to the narrows fished the rock banks, nope !nada! So I picked up and looked for some new fishing grounds and booom... found some coves that were packed with smallies and large mouth had a good time, 25 plus fish through out the day with a kicker 4.5 lb large mouth cought on bill dance top water lure, all in all, had a good time for my last day on vacation ,
      City: Elmira Ca

Tips: Most areas have been fished heavy , Dont be afraid to venture out to new areas, some coves dont look so good on the bank, but have lots of stucture under water moss beds trees etc. So even if it dont look good try it anyway. Was trowing top water over areas with underwater points that went out a long ways they were smashing it off shore 25 to 30 feet

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Most of the water is clear and back of the coves are stained. Went out Wedesday,Saturday and Sunday with three different anglers. First thing in the morning the bass were up on the banks within 2-7 ft. I was using a small single tail crub on a dart head 1/8 oz. Let the crub sit and the bass will just pick it up. A worm on a dart head works also. As the sun hits the water move back with a drop shot using a worm in brown/purple. Most of the water with deep water near is good. After 9am I went to a Capt Jack's Jig in Green pumkin with Green/Purple flake with a Brown/Purple double tail grub or a # 180. Most of the bigger fish cam on a Jig. After 11 am the bit died off so by noon we went home.
      City: Rocklin

Tips: Let the grubs sit and pop it slow.

California BASS Federation Nation State Team is looking for some good Anglers for next years State Team.

There will be a qualifing tournament in Aug. 3-4 at Clear Lake to get the top 12 for next years team. For more Info send me a email.

Report: First time I hit the lake in two weeks and boy what a day did I have. I started the day with a 4.4lb. Largemouth and followed it two casts later with a 2.8lb. spot. Both fish came on white fat free shad bombers. Later I swithced to a carolina rigged 6" Zoom lizard and really started to nail em. Bagged another 12 in an hour before I had to call it a day. Only fished for about two hours. Top five fish for the day went a little over 15lb. Best day I have had on the lake in several years
      City: Paradise

Tips: All fish caught near shore line anywhere from 2-6 feet deep.

Report: Where are all the bass!? I was catching them left and right about a monmth ago using senkos and now Im not getting a bite. I'm fishing the same spots using the same strategies. Any suggestions on baits that are working? or is the cold front just killing the bite?

Report: Clear Lake dished out some punishment today, but we fought back. We arrived at the ramp at 5:00am and the wind was howling and waves made the launch a mess. We soaked our selves in a 5 minute run to 4 walls only to see that it was not to the place to be today. We decided that we would run across the lake and get out of the wind to try and get some fishing in..........bad idea, as we got even more soaked. We did manage to find a cove to get out of the wind and began the day of one fish after another! We put over 25 in the boat on jigs and Senkos while trying to keep the boat in one place. Another fantastic day at Clear Lake and on the way home by 11:30 with wind and waves making life tough. We had a great time and caught quality fish again today.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Fish had moved out with the weather change and we sitting on the grass lines waiting for a meal. Pull through the grass and hang on! Tight Lines! Color did not seem to matter, green pumpkin, brown, dirty sanchez and purple all worked well as usual.

Report: Today I took two clients out that are very good fisherman. We fished the North Fork from 7am to 2pm. Started out with top water action then went to tubes and senko's. By the end of the trip we had over 150 bass. Only 8 over with most of them in the uper bracket. They had an awsome day!
      City: Paradise

Tips: The pattern that worked the best was senko's on steep walls and breaks at 15 to 20 feet with 5
inch pumpkin and 4inch water melon with chartrouse.

Report: Hey fish4fun, if Almanors' smallie fishery was in immenent danger of going down the tubes due to heavy bed fishing pressure, DFG would section off major spawning areas in the lake and make those areas off limits during the spawn. But they have not done that and believe me- their biologists monitor that lake, its second to only Trinity in terms of quality and Almanor has a compairable population of 2-3lb fish. I dont know why you decided to complain about the issue this year? Anyone who actually fishes Almanor on a weekly basis knows that for the heart of the spawn this year, many of the excellent areas on the lake have been nearly unfishable due to 15mph+ winds which tend to murk up the water and make some nice size whitecaps, too bad for us- "all for the $$$" tourney guys who just like to go out and compete against our local friends. Just so you know, a first place finish and big fish check now days will scarcely cover the fuel cost to go out and fish for the day. So if your gonna fish you might as well fish one of the Mtn./Westwood Bass Club or Honeylake Bass Clubs' tourneys and win back some of your gas $$$.

Tips: Start early and pray for a calm day! Dont forget your glasses.

Report: After guiding Pardee, I napped a little and fished Amador from 7 pm to midnight. The same cool delta breeze was hummin' on the lake so I wasn't too excited about the possibilities. I tried worm and jigs with no luck and finally went to the Chug Bug about 8 pm. I got a nice 2 1/2 pounder and felt I could go home happy. I tried some other points on the Mountain Spring side and we pleasantly surprised - I had a topwater bite goin'! Landed 4 more from 2 1/4 to near 3 lbs on the bug and they were eating it! I missed two good ones - right at dark! I decided with that action I would try the after-dark bite. It wasn't great, but with my trusty 10" blue/fleck Power worm, I got three more - 3-3, 3-8, and 4-2, and missed 2 or 3 others. Soon I noticed heavy dew on the side or my Ranger and said it was time to go. Heavy wet air always kills the nite bite! But it was better than I thought it would be! A very pleasant 22 hr day!!!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: This is a great time of the year for topwater at Amador! They sometimes will hit all day because of a lot of week growth. We may ever get a frog bite of the weather warms enough. Rip Ratl/traps right thru the weeds. The Berkley Power worms work day and night. Maybe bite a little off the 10" worms for daytime fishing. Green pumpkin and red shad are great colors!

Report: I walked the shore for a little while before making a cast and saw that there are still a good number of fish on beds. I enticed one small male to bite on a chartreuse senko and got two more on a junebug senko. Two of the fish were accompanied by other fish that followed them all the way to the shore as I reeled them in- a pretty cool thing to see. While I was coaxing the small male into biting, my wacky rigged senko got hung up on a branch and instead of pulling hard to free the lure I just shook it until the fish pulled it off the branch for me... thanks for the help. Overall, not a bad day for a small amount of fishing.

Tips: I've caught some on rattle traps other days, but today they wanted it slow.

Report: Wed went out down south hoping to get on the swimbait bite again. The mood of the fish definately changed for me. Got a few 2-3 lbrs and could tell they weren't eating it right. Boated a 4 and she was barely hooked. Started seeing a lot of followers and rolls that missed. I dropped two 5's and another decent one about 4. I watched a 5-6lbr come up and bump the bait with it's nose but didn't try to eat it. This was getting frustrating. Finally stuck what I thought was a toad, huge boil, the drag even slipped a little. Turned out to be a 5 with the bait stuck on the back of its head. Being the swimbait rookie that I am, I failed to make the right adjustments. Finished the day tossing a swim toad in shallow grass at low tide and got a bunch of 1-2lbrs. Best five about 15lbs. Thurs went to the Break and started w the swimbait again. The fish were eating it beter but no bigguns, 2-3lbrs. About noon I'd had enough. Saw some cheese and picked up my frog rod, bam, bam, bam, they were on it, and eating it real good. More 2-3lbrs and one decent one that weighed 4.15. Gotta love froggin the mats! Got a few sight fishing w a drop shot but I couldn't get the big females to play. Saw a sweet looking mat on the back side of a dock and tossed the frog over the walkway. A few hops and Kawoosh, it was like a giant toilet flushed. In one I motion I set, bounced her completely over the dock and in the boat. Thanks to 50lb braid and a 797 magnum grass rod..She went 6lb12oz.. I bounce stripers all day long but she may be biggest largy I've bounced yet. Best five about 20lbs.
