Anderson Lake

Water Temp: 59
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: We headed back over to Anderson on Sunday and we had minimal luck. What a difference a storm can make.
The pre-frontal bite on Saturday was awesome while Sunday proved to be a very tough fishing day. We were throwing carolina rigged brush hogs, crank baits, swimbaits, and jigs. We did manage to pull about 6 fish into the boat but they all were very very small. We did mark some fish but couldn't get them to take anything.
I'm waiting for the weather to warm up a bit to get some bigger action.

Water Temp: 57
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Was it windy out there today, man oh man it was BIGTIME. I was able to scratch out 22 fish in between the swells and rain showers. The majority of my fish were taken around Buckingham and Anderson Island when I could hold the boat in position long enough to actually fish. I also caught a number of fish in the south lake just south of Windmill point. All fish were taken on the shakey head worm and they were all pretty small, the largest was just over 4lbs, best 5 went 12.5.

Report: fished last few sundays with 15+ fish per trip.many pre, spawn and postspawn fish to 9lbs.all were C & R. Too bad for all those starving fishermen who had to keep many prespawned fish.not cool ( my opinion)large plastics and spinnerbaits worked for me.

Report: Fished the Arroyo back lakes on 4/15 and 4/22. Back to back 10 fish days. Caught a 5 lber and 4 over 3 pounds. Bass are biting hard now. Caught fish in the reeds and in cover. The trick is to throw in close to the cover or in the reeds. Throw close to the shore. 5 pounder hit only a foot from the shore.
Threw senkos all day long. A bunch of colors, really didn't matter, but I'd stick with dark colors.
City: San MateoTips: Fish are biting. Get out there!

Anderson Lake
-
Water Temp: 58
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Sat started as a tough day. Water temps had dropped 3 deg with the recent rain and that impacted the bite. I went to the usual places in the south end and used the usual baits with little sucess. I met up with Papa John who was working the north end with the same luck. We fished a couple of areas together that produced a couple of fish. When he left at 2:30 I only had 4 fish in the boat. Decided to make a run up north and that is where I found some active fish. Ended up with 13 bass with a couple of nice fish over three lbs. Caught all fish in coves - nothing on the main lake shore line. Caught them on Crig plastics and drop shot rig fished horizontally in very shallow, stained water. I got a few suspended fish that hit when the bait was falling. Tried senko and spinnerbait with no luck.
City: Foster CityTips: Fish the coves where you can find some stained water. Fish from 3-10 feet with whatever plastics you have confidence in. My best luck has been on darker plastics in watermellon with red flake.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Finally - I was able to get on the water this week. Even though it was only for a couple of hours I was loving every minute of it. I had my neice and son with me so I spent more time trying to get them into fish than trying to get myself into fish.
Anyhow, I've always fished the south end of this reservoir but today I decided to go north. We made our way into one of the coves and we were catching fish in minutes. We caught about 8 fish with the biggest being 2#. The kids had a great time and right when the fishing was about to get good the kids wanted to leave. I was torn - leave before the rain or stay on the fish.
I couldn't do it, we headed for home with part of me still wishing I was on the water.
Used: Carolina and Texas rigged baby brush hogs.

Report: Fish are staging to spawn depending on location. Several 1.5-2lb males caught up tight and frequent female 3-4lbs fishing real slow with recent cold front.
City: Santa BarbaraTips: senkos and brush hogs. VERY SLOW. Delta is more of PRE-spawn than spawn. Big girls are still staging. Very few on beds thus far.

Report: Went out Sat to check some different water and look for a flip bite. Well, I just had the itch to throw that damn swimbait again. Just one cast, OK just one fish, three bites later, OK just afew more more casts. Then comes a 6.13. OK I really need to focus here so I make a move and flip for a bit. Get a few little guys but not what I'm looking for. Then comes that little swimbait demon voice in my head again, the tide is right, the weather is good, the area feels right. go ahead, no one will know, I cave in and stick a 3 1/2. Makes a few more moves and stick another 3 1/2, then a 7.0, then a 5.10.. all this and I'm leaving each area after the first bite cause I'm supposed to be prefishing. Finally force myself to get off the water, best five about 26 1/2.
Sun fished the A/C sp. started off slow for me with the big bait but my partner was flipin small senko fish at every spot. I stuck with it and finally got em to eat about noon. Never got the big dog but put together a limit of 3's and 4's for 19lbs. Winners had 22lbs
City: TracyTips: don't beat em up during practice like I do

Report: Got on the water with our club tournament. Launched out of Holland. In 30 min after launch we had 6 keepers in the boat on (2) on popper, (2) on buzzbait and my son hit (2) on a frog. Ran to the next spot and tried a chatterbait with no luck. Next move the fish were on fire, we hit 30+ fish w/ 75% of the fish on top-water. (popper, spook). Open rock bank we threw a chatterbait and they were eating it. Stayed on that bank the rest of the day, even made a second pass before heading in and hit 5 more. Lot of fish but the kicker did not show herself. Best 5 only went 12.30. What can I say... TOP-WATER...
City: FremontTips: Throw Your favorite "TOP-WATER" Bait. Popper, Spook, Buzzbait and don't forget that FROG. Bobby said to me... Throw it anywhere...If its not in the water, you can't catch them..... Good Luck.... Catch You on The Water....

Report: The Devil Mountain Bassmasters came to the Delta in force with expectations high. With pre-front conditions, we launched out of Lundborg and had the place to ourselves. It was a tough day for most, but their were some big (club) sacks brought in. Our newest pre-member got hot on a beaver bite in Franks and put together a solid sack to win the tournament, official win went to last years angler of the year with 17+ lbs and a 9.6 lb bass for big fish. He was closely follow with big bass of 8 and 6.5 pounds. The rain held off until we finished and the wind came up and then layed down in the middle of the day.
The jig counted for a few fish, as did blades and the 6.5 was taken with a chatterbait. But plastics ruled the day. For me, it just wasn't my day. I lost fish, broke a big one off, caught a nice 6 lb ............................... squawfish? Missed bites and only managed to bring 4 small fish to the scales.
When the day was over we sat at the outdoor seating at Lundborg, had a few beers, shared stories of the day and lots of laughs. Proving that while it is better to win, but nobody loses when you are fishing with friends.
Devil mountain is about great days of fishing with friends. We compete in a monthly tournament format, but we are about bass fishing, sharing information and having a network of fishing buddies. If this sounds good to you, please go to www.dmbass.com or give me a call at 925-639-7724. Next meeting is May 2.
City: Walnut CreekTips: A beaver with 3/16 oz... swim it, then let it rest.
The Lundborg ramp has broken planks, call before you launch there. -

There was also 2 bass about 6-7 pounds cruising around in about 2 feet of water.fish shallow with weightless 6 inch roboworms. Purple/brown. cast out and jig them alot dont let the worm just sit there unless a bass comes up to it if the bass comes just let it get close and then jig it fast to get a strike.

Came out of there moved across from New York in big cove, senkoed three and started using a white chatterbait catching one here one there. Moved on out to main lake point caudht about thirty on the bait, just working back and forth.

Report: Continuing the report, sorry about the incomplete first post.
Caught 1 about a pound on a 297 green pumkin senko. He had a crawdad still stuck in his throat that was dark brown with reddish orange markings, for anyone who's interested. After catching a dink on a t-rigged tube, I switched to a white spinnerbait as the wind settled down into a nice ripple on the water. Caught one at around 4-5 pounds, very fat and healthy (my first decent California bass.) Missed two more and had one good one jump off. I was burning the spinnerbait, waking it under the surface, getting hit mainly near what appeared to be drop offs.
City: oaklandTips: Caught fish slow and fast, with all the quality bites coming while fishing fast. Keep in mind it was very overcast.
