Water Temp: 59
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: My Dad and I spent about 3 hours on the water on Friday. I hooked into only one fish on a carolina rigged brush hog. There was a lot of pressure on the lake that day.
We heard that a guy on a pontoon hooked into a 12# - if it's true that must have been awesome!
Wind wasn't as bad as it had been most of the week and I thought the bite would have been better.
Good luck!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I had the chance to fish noon to 3:30 today with a new Devil Mountain member. He had been out in the morning and I was happy for the time on the water. We flipped jigs and plastics around franks and little franks. The plastics out produced the jig today, but I think the real story is what is going on in Little Franks. The water is an ugly brown tea color. We still managed to pull a few small fish out, but all in all, the fishing in there was slow.
The best part of the day was fishing with a new club member. I showed him some water and a few things that I do to catch fish and he showed me a ditch in franks that I didn't know was there.

Water Temp: Unknown
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The bite was slow. This was my second time out in the past couple weeks. One day I got 8 total with the largest at 3lbs. Last Friday I caught
a total of 4 with the biggest 2 lbs. I tried the swim bait thing until I was blue in the face
and did'nt even get a strike. I through it hundreds of times.
The only thing that produced any fish for me was
a purple senko weightless.
I'm no tournament quality fisherman. However I've been at it since I was 12 years old. I'm 50 now. I certainly am a decent bass fisherman.
I know what I'm doing. I honestly don't believe the reports I read in this column about people taking 30 - 40 - 50 fish in a day. In my humble opinion, it's Fish Tales.
I've spent DOZENS of 10 hour days on the lake throwing everything but the kitchen sink. The biggest one I've caught was a 5 pounder. The most fish I've boated in a day is less than 10.
I have a house over in Kelseyville 3 miles from Konocti. Maybe it's just a slower bite on that side of the lake. You tell me!

City: PetalumaTips: dont use a swimbait if you want a big quanity of fish.

McClure Lake
-
Water Temp: 63-65
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Started fishing at about 6:30 PM. Wind was calm no clouds. Headed up to bagby and fished under the bridge hwy49. Cought 1 large mouth about 1lb. cought a spot 2lbs. boths on watermelon red flake senko wacky style weightless. Then headed over to McClure point at dark and cought 15-20 on green zelamanders in about 2ft of water. All were in the slot but one 17" spot. got a lot of bites that i missed due to the smaller fish holding onto just the tail.
City: TurlockTips: Fish at night with a black light and florecent line it helps tremendously. email me if anyone is interested in going up to the lake at exchanging different techniques.

Water Temp: 54
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Belated report here. Fished the 12th with a friend from Red Bluff in his boat, a great little Viper. Got 17 that day and 14 the next. Day one on the north end and day 2 on the south. Big fish on day one remains a mystery as my friend's scale only went to 10 lbs. Monster fish for me, my biggest ever. The scale would click over 10 lbs with a substantial portion of the tail still on the deck. We should have taken it over to Bob's and had him weigh it but we revived it and slipped it back in on the spot. Big fish on day 2 was 5-10. Senkos in the tules were primary but got good action on swim baits and jerks as well. We have Larry booked for May 5 and I want him to fish with us as much as possible. He is so generous with his information just on his posts and I can't wait to see him in action and learn all I can. I hope he keeps doin' what he's doin'.

Water Temp: 60's
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: went up for a week 9-13th. caught 174 bass up to 2-1/2 lbs. mostly spotted. some on beds. Highlights when my son ryan caught a 1-1/2 pound crappie on a rip bait. I put on a crappie jig right away and caught and landed a 2lb-5oz crappie (picture coming soon) caught 3 more crappie over 1-1/2 lbs. These were the biggest I've seen ever in shasta and i have been fishing here since the late 70's. the 2.5 was my biggest ever. i have caught many near 2 lbs in lake berryessa and clearlake but never shasta. the guys at shasta marina have never heard that size coming out of shasta before. Have great spot where i caught them and all i can say is hit trees in deep water near shore. 15-35ft. will post pictures soon.
City: pleasant hillTips: Rip baits, drop shots (some with tubes)craw cranks, and spinner baits did most the damage. white/yellow crappie jigs for crappie.
-
Water Temp: low 60's.......
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Spotted bass fishing in the Sac arm near Sugar Loaf resort was good. Lots of bites, relatively small fish, but very aggressive. Saw many on beds already. Trout trollers were getting spots along with their trout.
They hit everything. Most fish were picked up in 20' of water using grubs and various plastics. Drop and split shot rigs with wacky worm presentation. I was float tubing, so I only covered a small body of water.
Question, we only saw a handful of fish over 2 lbs. How do you find better quality at Shasta?
City: PleasantonTips: I did best when the wind and rain pushed a chop on the shore producing a stain in wind exposed coves.

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 64
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I was hoping to show a fellow from Washington state why Clear Lake was the best in the nation. This was his first visit to the lake. Well, he was having dinner Friday evening at the casino and got serious food poisoning. He only had one hour sleep but still met me at 6:45 am at Clearlake Oaks Sat. morning to see if he could give it a go. Man , I felt sorry for him! He was in agony! Well, he did make it for the 8 hours and caught 8 or 9 up to 5 lbs. We had lots of 4's and 19 bass total. And five best at 21 1/2 lbs. I am certainly glad he didn't make the trip for nothing!
City: Yuba CityTips: Because of his condition we couldn't really go far. We stuck around Rattlesnake Island and a little on the west shore of the Rattlesnake arm. I really had good areas to fish in mind but we couldn't travel since there were some small swells of the lake. We used 6" Robo worms, brush hogs, and lizards (in green and brown shades) - throwning in scattered tulle berms and up again the shore. All bass were 3 to 10 feet. The very cold morning (35 degrees) didn't seem to hurt the bite.

Report: Another awesome day at the lake despite the rain and wind. Landed 16 spots up to 3 lbs and lost another half dozen or so. Only fished for about 3 hours or so. Caught several on Booyah spinner baits and the rest came on berkely power worms and senkos. Fish were everywhere. Aggresive bites during time I was out and I did not even hit the water until 10 am.
