Report: The lake was on fire today. First time I have been out in a week or so. Fished for about three hours and landed over fifteen fish and missed several others. Watermelon flaked 4 inch plastics carolina rig did the trick today. The biggest went about 3 lbs. while most averaged about 2 lbs. All nice chunky spots except one smallie. Fished out of Lime Saddle.

Report: I'm thinking of heading out to Quarry Lakes for the first time. I plan on bass fishing but I can't seem to find much info on the lakes. Maybe someone could help me out. Do both lakes hold bass or does just one of them? Do they allow float tubes? What are the depth changes and is there a main creek channel that runs through them? The main one I would like to know is which lakes hold bass. Thanks!

Report: TOOK THE WIFE AND KIDS UP FOR ABOUT 3HRS THIS MORNNING AND CAUGHT A COUPLE FISH. TWO KEEPER SMALLIES AND SOME DINK LARGEMOOUTHS. DIDN'T GET TO DO WHAT I WANTED, TRIED TO GET THE KIDS INTO ANYTHING TO KEEP THEM INTERESTED AND KEEPING THEM FROM GETTING HUNG AND WHAT NOT. I fished for an hour when they were not messing around and caught 2 keepers, it's not that bad, still a little early and I bet the bite would of picked up had we stayed until afternoon.

Report: Fishing this week was good but what I would like to talk about is the future of fishing at the lake. The BOR would like to close off certain areas where motor boats cannot enter to fish or water ski and of course that would include jet skis. These areas include all of the back of big island, Putah Creek and Pope Creek. If you have enjoyed fishing and boating at this beautiful lake in the past, please call or email the BOR and let them know the lake is for everyone and shouldn't have restricted areas. ===========================

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I fished on Saturday and Sunday. The bite is still very, very good and I had no trouble catching fish on either day. On Saturday I caught 39 fish using a rip bait and a shakey head worm. The largest fish was a 7-1 beauty that fell for the shakey head worm. My best 5 on Saturday went just over 21 lbs. I focused on Buckingham, below Shag Rock and over to Glenhaven. On Sunday I fished for about 3 hours and took 19 fish, my best 5 went just about 16 lbs, no big fish to speak of, however I did catch at least one fish at EVERY stop I made. Sunday I fished at Buckingham, Anderson Island, Dollar Island, Horseshoe and Little Quercus. The lake is still very clear, however that will change soon as I'm starting to see more and more algae blooms sprouting up around the lake.
      City: Petaluma, CA

Tips: Lucky Craft Pointer 128 American Shad Pattern rip bait. This works well in low light conditions.

Shakey head worm 1/4 and 3/8 oz and just about any color worm.

Report: Start with a swim bait, caught a nice spot, got tapped on a couple more. Main body was real calm. Went upstream caught a nice black on a 1/4 oz jig and a couple of spots. Cruised with trolling motor for most of the morning, a lot of big carp moved into jack's shack, at first I thought THEY were there. Left early.
      City: sac

Tips: Reaction swimbait in six inch size, 1/4 oz jigs. I'm sure almost anything will work. All fish were shallow, didn't go below 15 ft.

Report: Went out on the lake today with two of my friends it was their first time bass fishing so they were really pumped. We started out on the south end parking lot My second cast i picked up a about a two and a half pound smallie on a clear lake hitch rip bait. Then we went and fished the bridge on the dam my friends first cast he picked up about a two pound largemouth dropshotin a shop special. Then I picked up my swimbait and the fun began . Caught two three pounders on a chartruse and white 8" inch swimbait also a couple of twos and fours my biggest went about 6 and a half. Then we were down at the little cove behind where the dock is at the end of the dam and saw about a five sittin on a bed with her male so i put on a big green brushhog i worked her about an hour and finally i threw up on her nose and she went crazy so theere was another big on so after that i picked up three more and we split because the wind was pickin up and my friends weren't doin to good. So i caught over fifteen fish today my individual weight would of gone about 26 and a half so it was a great day to get out of the house and get on the lake.
      City: Ukiah

Tips: When the wind picks up you wil want a dark ripbait if you just want to haVE fun but if you are lookin for big fish have a big chartruse and white swimbait tied on leave your drop shot at home, well good luck and tight lines.

Report: Maybe its too early to tell but it apears Ruth may be on a downslide again.A recent tournament was quite disapointing to many anglers with 39 entries 22 did not way a keeper fish. This may be a cycle or the fish may be stunted again because of too many small fish.If you want a bass fry please take the 12 to 13 in. fish or take the pan fish or tout.If you catch a good fish that you want to have mounted you do not have to kill it. Take the measurements length ,gearth and weight and a photo, there are many places that do replicas.Fishing presure could be another factor with three tournaments scheduled for this spring and heavy prefishing preasure for several weeks before each tournament could really effect the bite. After the last few years of quality fish it would be a shame to see this lake revert back to what it was before the 15 in. limit was taken off.

      Tips: Release quality fish

Tips: No idea... drop-shot landed our only fish. Any hints?

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Pretty good day Sat. Caught 15 LM. The largest was 4.2lbs (first cast) and 3.1lbs (second cast)Caught them on Senko, drop shot Robo, and C-Rig Brush Hogs. The Senko fish were caught in calm waters in coves. The drop-shot fish were caught on points. The Carolina fish were caught on main lake mud lines. All were caught from 3-13 ft. The bigger fish were taken on Senko, med fish on C-Rig, and smallest on drop-shot. Nothing on jerk, crank or spinner bait.
      City: Foster City

Tips: Work different plastics in places from the shore to 15 ft. Let the conditions and depth dictate which bait to use. If you fish this lake then post your results - good or bad. If you don't, you risk being banished by J.P. (4-2-07 Post)to Parkway purgatory, slinging stink-bait from a leaking rented row boat.

      Water Temp: 63-64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I was concerned about the weather change as I drove to the lake today. No rain but very gusty wind made fishing tough for my clients. One was new to bass fishing as he was an experienced trout fly-fisherman. It was fun getting on him a bit as he kept setting the hook with the rod over his head like a fly-fisherman would do. He eventually got the hang of dragging the worm and setting with the rod tip down and caught 7 while losing 70, har!! His partner, the back seater, was an excellent bass fisherman and caught fish all day in tough conditions - hey, - I did my best controlling the boat in swirling wind! He even caught 2 smallie near 3 lbs and a 3-2 spot - nice fish! We just stayed in the narrows and fished off-shore structure and sloping points with a drop-off. We needed to do that because the fish had moved off the bank some. The air temp had dropped about 10 or so degrees today. Actually we did much better than I thought we would with 34 bass in the boat and a 7 1/2 lb channel catfish that had the back-seater pretty excited for awhile!! Our five best bass - not the catfish! - went a little over 14 lbs! The drive home is always better when the trip is better than expected!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I fished different baits while I had them Texas rigged with 4 and 6 inch Robo worms. Everything I did - rippin', drop-shotting, cranking, and jigs produced a big "0"! When I was split-shotting my Robo worms, I caught all the smaller bass. I got them out of the way for my clients! I think my biggest was 1 3/4 lbs - wow!! That's the way I like the trips - clients catch the big ones! They had a double hookup but one came off. Maybe because of the cool-down, the first hour or two were quite slow. As the clouds thinned a bit, the bite just got better and better inspite of the increasing wind. They were still biting good when we quit at 3 pm. Most of the quality bass were 12 to 20 feet deep. We used 6 or 7 colors with MMIII being the best in the morning. We went to lighter colors as the day progressed. It was fun to watch the fly-guy go through my box and try nearly all the Robo colors. I think he got a bite on nearly every color. Prizm Shad was the best mid-day color by far! Bass love those Robo's!!!
