      Water Temp: 60's

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: went up for a week 9-13th. caught 174 bass up to 2-1/2 lbs. mostly spotted. some on beds. Highlights when my son ryan caught a 1-1/2 pound crappie on a rip bait. I put on a crappie jig right away and caught and landed a 2lb-5oz crappie (picture coming soon) caught 3 more crappie over 1-1/2 lbs. These were the biggest I've seen ever in shasta and i have been fishing here since the late 70's. the 2.5 was my biggest ever. i have caught many near 2 lbs in lake berryessa and clearlake but never shasta. the guys at shasta marina have never heard that size coming out of shasta before. Have great spot where i caught them and all i can say is hit trees in deep water near shore. 15-35ft. will post pictures soon.
      City: pleasant hill

Tips: Rip baits, drop shots (some with tubes)craw cranks, and spinner baits did most the damage. white/yellow crappie jigs for crappie.

      Water Temp: low 60's.......

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Spotted bass fishing in the Sac arm near Sugar Loaf resort was good. Lots of bites, relatively small fish, but very aggressive. Saw many on beds already. Trout trollers were getting spots along with their trout.

They hit everything. Most fish were picked up in 20' of water using grubs and various plastics. Drop and split shot rigs with wacky worm presentation. I was float tubing, so I only covered a small body of water.

Question, we only saw a handful of fish over 2 lbs. How do you find better quality at Shasta?
      City: Pleasanton

Tips: I did best when the wind and rain pushed a chop on the shore producing a stain in wind exposed coves.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I was hoping to show a fellow from Washington state why Clear Lake was the best in the nation. This was his first visit to the lake. Well, he was having dinner Friday evening at the casino and got serious food poisoning. He only had one hour sleep but still met me at 6:45 am at Clearlake Oaks Sat. morning to see if he could give it a go. Man , I felt sorry for him! He was in agony! Well, he did make it for the 8 hours and caught 8 or 9 up to 5 lbs. We had lots of 4's and 19 bass total. And five best at 21 1/2 lbs. I am certainly glad he didn't make the trip for nothing!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Because of his condition we couldn't really go far. We stuck around Rattlesnake Island and a little on the west shore of the Rattlesnake arm. I really had good areas to fish in mind but we couldn't travel since there were some small swells of the lake. We used 6" Robo worms, brush hogs, and lizards (in green and brown shades) - throwning in scattered tulle berms and up again the shore. All bass were 3 to 10 feet. The very cold morning (35 degrees) didn't seem to hurt the bite.

Caught several on Booyah spinner baits and the rest came on berkely power worms and senkos. Fish were everywhere. Aggresive bites during time I was out and I did not even hit the water until 10 am.

Report: On the water at 11:30 am. Threw reaction for 1 1/2 hours with no takers. Went to the worm and that was the ticket 3rd cast 5.25 pound LM. Really happy to say that 9 of my first 11 were LMs. Around 4:30 the wind layed down a bit and the clouds covered the sun. Broke out the topwater and fished it until 7:30, with plenty of action. Ended up landing 17 keepers, with my best 5 going 18.5 lbs.

Report: Did a little afternoon fishin' with my buddy Mark. We launched at 5pm and stayed until after dark. Fished the Southfork the entire time. Went into New York cove tossing reactions and jigs with no interest. A large portion of the cove is really muddy and full of carp. On the other side of the cove (in clearer water) we were able to hook three (up to 2.3 lbs) on a darthead with 6" Roboworms. Moved up the Southfork and added a couple of more on the Robo just before dark. One of them was a beautiful 3.1 lb Spot. Had some interest on a Spook Jr off a point and a bump or two on a Mission Fish...but the real action was on worms.

Tips: Try a weekday afternoon rather than dealing with all the pressure of a weekend. Beautiful out there right now. 1/4oz Darthead with a 6" Warmouth (or Aaron's Magic)Roboworm. Dragged real slowly on a chunk rock bank.

      Water Temp: 61am-68 pm

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: First time I fished this lake in about 10yrs, and forgot how beautiful this place was.

We got a few smallies in the a.m in skiers cove with red robo worms, and pretty much got my a-- handed to me for the rest of the day. Lost about 6 or so on the Senko (watermelon)and deserved it because I tried it Carolina style and not "Wacky" like I should of, but got several bites on it.

Later day was tough. Charted several at about 16ft on the sand flats along the shoreline, but couldn't get any takers on either Senkos, or 6in plastics in purple, red, or green weenies.

Learned some lessons this day, but read Larry's reports carefully if you haven't been here for awhile as it sounds like he is obviously dialed in. I myself probably should have paid a little more attention to his postings!.

      Anyway good luck!
      City: San Ramon

Tips: Fish slow! and good Pop-R movement in the a.m by docks at skiers cove!

Report: I have been catching some fish most in the 1 to 2# range with the occasional bigger fish.I'm not having a problem with the smaller fish but can't seem to get on to the bigger ones.I think my problem is staying too long in one place. The other day my partner and I fished a good 10 hrs. with 25 or so fish with 2 over 3.5#.But we only fished 4 areas,I'm wondering if I'm staying to long on one spot and not looking around a little more.I don't want to leave fish to find fish but if my quality isn't up to par should I look more. Thanks in advance for any help you can give and old non tourmenent fisherman.
