Report: What a difference a day makes! Yesterday was full sun and very little wind. Today, whitecaps in the river, overcast and cold. My bite dried up. Fished a FBC tourny and while most people culled small limits on jigs, i only caught a few that way. Most of mine came on a texas rigged light purple worm and a dropshot in various collous. Winner caught a 15 pounder. That fish alone was enough to win the tourny. Said he caught it on a jig.

Report: Yesterday (2/17) was a beautiful bluebird day on the lake...sunny, clear, very little wind...and a tough bite! I managed only one 2 1/2 lb bass on the black Swimming Senko, from the back of a small cut, in about 6 feet of water. Beside that one fish, John and I had no other bites and no other fish in the boat. Except for a couple of bank fisherman who had caught a couple of nice bass, we saw no other bass fisherman catch anything...and there were plenty of other boats on the lake...probably more than either of had seen before. Today (2/18) the weather reports called for winds of 10-12 mph all morning but fortunately they were wrong. After some early morning breeziness while loading the boats, the wind settled down about 30 minutes later and remained mostly calm until about 11:00 a.m. The overcast sky made for what should have been a great day of fishing...NOT! Neither John nor I (nor any of the other bass anglers we could see) caught anything all morning...a very tough bite. Again, there were lots of boats on the lake, and many more bass anglers than usual (probably because Coyote Lake is closed to launching). Lots of pressure from a lot of anglers. There was a steady procession of bass anglers proceeding around the bank casting and retrieving all sorts of lures...the bass have probably seen most of what is currently favored by local bass anglers. Very few fish showed on the depth finder in the shore zone from zero out to 30 feet. Again, in some areas of the main lake basin, lots of fish showed from 40 to 60 feet over a bottom at 80. Fishing deep and slow produced no bites in those areas.
City: MontereyTips: No help today...nothing we tried worked.

San Pablo Lake

Water Temp: medium
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Me and a two other buddies went out thinking we could catch some of the 7,200 pounds of stocked trout. And after about an hour of fishing for trout we said screw this, lets step up like men and try for some bass, Within about a one and a half hour period we caught two bass, each roughly about 2 lbs, with a couple other small strikes. Both were caught on a redish skinny plastic 6" worm with a flat tail. Both fish were also caught off points about 200 yards before the tower.
City: DanvilleTips: use baits they can see(baits that move) the water is murky. try drop off's close to shore.
-
Water Temp: unknown
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished San Pablo for the first time this season with my son. Fished from about 7:30 to 3:30. Caught four bass all together. First bass was the largest, 7.30 lbs. Other three between 1.5 - 2.5 lbs. First three were caught near the launch. The last one was caught on a point on the East side more or less across from the launch. All were caught on a Huddlebug - fished VERY slowly.
City: OrindaTips: Threw swimbaits, crankbaits, lipless cranks and dropshots but only caught fish on the Huddlebug. Bass didn't seem to want a reaction bait yet.

Water Temp: 60-64
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went out with two teens[my cousin&his friend] to hopefully take advantage of the recent hot bite.arrived at 10:00 went to skunk &yorty not a bite. We saw a lot of salamanders in the shallows But oops forgot half my plastics at home no lizards or anything close. the boys wanted to sight fish. 1 hour later we saw no fish. went to warm springs side to try road beds & ledges in the 10 to 15 foot range. threw a lot of different stuff they experimented with some pretty weird rigs& weird colors but hey they were having fun. Finnaly I pulled up to a rockpile and broke the ice with a 2.5lb keeper. Immediatelly they were asking for a crankbait like mine. threw them both my sonoma secret crank in shad color. those boys were chuckin & windin as I bagged another keeper.I showed them how to slow real and feel the rocks. Ihooked a good one and lost it at the boat 4-5er. then my cousins buddy yanked one of the rockpile Oh yeah thats what its all about thats why im here so the youngsters can catch um I can go anytime I want the boys to get these fish.I ended up pulling six fish out of that one spot, six I wished the boys had caught.so ifound a similar rockpile first cast another keeperand another and another.I was trying to make bunk casts but they wanted my bait over theirsfor some reason. So I must have had around 12-14lbs for 5 fish nothin big but everyone of them fun. My cousin got skunked but last outing we did at sonoma he got a 8.5 off the dam. So i finished the day with well thats just fishin guys. they were all smiles anyway just the fact of being on a bass boat thrills them they had fun.
City: guernevilleTips: Even Know it is tough sometimes and it tests your patients and lots of snags. Bring them kids out once and awhile its rewarding trust me.If my grandpa hadnt took me fishin would I have this healthy constructive hobby? It kept me busy and out of trouble as a teen hope it does the same for all the youngsters I take. I still have a lot of time for the big guys too.

Water Temp: 51-54o
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Summary??? You want fish today at Cachuma, you needed to bring your own! Tough is the best word here --- Water is really clear and we saw carp, bass and three huge, I mean HUGE catfish crusing by the boat. With conditions so clear, fish were scattering from twelve feet away when they say the boat. We sw bass crusing in as little as 4 feet off the banks in 3-8 feet of water but alas, no takers.
I basically tied my tackle box on to my line, tossed it out, jerked, dropped, cranked and slow retrived it back and nothing in the box was intereting to anything, even carp! If we had to wight in, only one keeper for the day. SAD! Need that rain before the Gold Coast tourney next week! Water needs to have some stain in it or it will end up being a harsh outing again.
Looking at the weather conditions for the wee may be the culprit. With the possible front moving in and the extra warm weather, the fish were being finiky. Saw a few boaters hitting on a drop but most takers looked to be smallies that probably wouldn't hang. Water temps are up which is a good sign but the lake is down a lot now and it still is a 'hunting' game for quality keepers. The big producer two weeks ago on the south end walls was a 'skunk' today.
City: Santa MariaTips: Finding fish near the brushlines or drop off's may be the points to look for. Still looks like fish are holding in that 30-40 foot range and the thermocline was about a guess of 35'.

Calero Reservoir

Water Temp: 55 - 57
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: We fished from 12:30 to 4:30 and pulled in a 5 pounder on a flourecent green jig. We fished the entire rocky back just opposite of the boat ramp.
City: San JoseTips: The lake is really low on water at the moment. Watchout for rock islands...
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: caught two across from the ramp using a wacky rigged senko. they were both about 2.5 lbs and were in 10-12 ft. of water. Perfect weather!

Water Temp: 54-57
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: 3:45 p.m. launch until dark with 7 keepers, best 3.5 lbs. No giants but all were good fish. A couple of 2 pounders as well.Red color around the mouth...hmmm.Not sure why. The 3.5 had a belly of eggs. It was like 70 something degrees outside. Saw guys fishin/scouting for beds.Incomming tide.Been catchin em in all tide conditions. On fire with 7 fish in 2 hours!Git em!
Tips: All my fish came on points with good dropoffs to 15 feet and current. Texas riggin plastic with 3/8 weight to get it deep. Jig did get me 2 but most action came driftin the plastic.Bass bite is hot if you can find em.Don't overlook the deeper/faster water. The fish are there.Good luck!

Water Temp: 54.5

Report: Absolutely beautiful day on Disappointment Slough. (7 am till noon) Fishing not so great. One small bass and one small striper on red/black/yellow Rat-L-Trap. Tried up close to the tullies. Tried outside the weedlines. Tried spinnerbaits, Senkos, jigs, creatures etc. Nada. The one bass did come out of the tullies so maybe they are beginning to move up. Had fun anyway.
City: StocktonTips: Gotta keep your lines wet....

Camanche Lake

Water Temp: 51 - 54
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Peter and I fished the El Dorado Bass Club tournament this last Saturday on a beautiful February day. We boated 6 keepers for the day on jigs either green and black or brown and black. Bite was very soft or just a slight weight that felt different then all the rocks, mud, wood or weeds. First place went to Gregg & Rod whose five fish total weight was 19.66 pounds with Gregg's big fish of 7.70 pounds. My partner and I were fortunate to take second.
City: El Dorado HillsTips: Main body seems to have the bigger fish and we worked our bait very slow off of primary points or humps.
