Report: We wanted to get a whole day of fishing in, but didn't actually start fishing until 9:30am. First trip to Ruth this year. We stuck over 80 fish in about 6hrs. We had one solid 6lb on my 3rd cast he hit 2 times before I stuck him. I had to change plastics. Also about ten in the 2 1/2 to 3lb category. approx 17lb bag limit.
Not a bad day for Ruth Lake. Gotta love it practice catch and release.

Tips: When pulling up to the spot you want to fish, don't give up after catching a couple fish. The bigger fish would come after we landed the smaller more aggressive fish. Good Luck

Report: My cousin and I went out early Friday morning. It was very windy and we were getting blown off of our spots. We fished points and coves on the main lake from 0600 to 1100. We caught a total of 24 fish. We caught spots, smallmouth, and largemouth on jerkbaits, spooks, and dropshotting minnow imitations. Most were keepers in the 1.5 to 2 pound range. Trolling motor quit at 1100 and the wind was getting worse so we called it a day.
      City: Citrus Heights, CA

Tips: Have a dropshot rig ready for the fish that follow hooked fish to the boat.

Tips: Tried a lot of stuff (buzz baits, frogs, Rat L Traps, senkos, and a variety of different colored spinnerbaits), but no takers on them. White spinnerbaits were either 3/8 or 1/2 oz.

Report: Got 7 bass to 2.5 #'s. No 6-9#'ers for me. Fished all over the lake from 3:00 to 7:45. Anywhere there is cover which is everywhere right now. Buddy got 3. Saw lots of big schools in open water (trout?) on the finder.

      Water Temp: ???gettin warm

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Tried for crappie again and found around a hundred again but did not catch any quality crappie so I did not keep any. Bass caught all day and are all along the shoreline. Fished panfish tubes, drop shot roboworms, and zara pups for most of the day. Topwater is fun but the larger fish did not cooperate with me but I'm sure others are having luck with catching them. Also fished spinnerbait and a frog with some results. Largest bass was about 3lbs, in the end it was a fun day on the lake again.
      City: manteca

Tips: Take kids and friends who have never fished on this lake because they are gaurenteed to have fun catching a lot of fish. Some of the fish seem to move deeper to around 15ft in the afternoon but still bite zara pups or spooks while some are still along the shore.

Fished the West Branch throwing jigs and stik baits (senkos) made by Alluring Baits out of Lubbock, Texas. Caught a fish on almost every cast but nothing over 15". Better fish made be had up in the forks but didn't have time to go there. Would be a great time to take a kid fishing. Still lots of debris and the skiers are out. Good luck to you 100%ers and future pros this weekend. Still takes a 14lb bag to win
      City: Paradise

Tips: Try everything for a chance at better fish.

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Rick Tietz and I made another trip to Pardee to have some fun and probably see the last of the spawn. Many bass have left the shallows now and are crusing around offshore structure. We still saw some on beds and caught a few. Rick's best for the trip was a 4-2 smallie and my best was a 3-13 smallie. He was dropshotting his Basstrix Bait-Fry in the chartreuse/blue color and I was using a white jig or a Berkley 4" Power worm. We fished mostly in the south end and a little in the river arm. We threw swimbaits a lot and had three hits but no fish. Many of the quality smallies were spawning in 10 feet of water and floating pollen on the water and breezes made sight fishing difficult after noon. Rick also caught some on his (Blade Runner) Swim Spin with a Basstrix 4" minnow attached. I was pleased that my two biggest smallies (3-8, 3-11) were not caught sight fishing - just split-shotting a Berkley worm. We ended our day at 4 pm with 3 small bass and 15 from 1 3/4 to 4 lbs 2 oz - best five about 18 lbs. No big largemouththis trip! The next trip should bring on the post-spawn pattern.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I don't have many tips because things are changing rapidly as we go into post-spawn. The topwater bite - if it hasn't already - should turn on real soon. I expect the water to clear even more in the coming weeks. Most of the driftwood is now high and dry - thank goodness!! One of the bigger smallies spit up a nice size crawdad, so, don't forget to try a jig.
