      Water Temp: 75 degrees

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished out of Russo's marina (didn't want to fight the ramp traffic at Big Break tourney). Fished the perimeter initially for some striped bass (rumor said they were in) but no luck. Shot over to Mildred and along the way caught about 15 fish on wacky-rigged worms in the main channel near and across from the tower. Then on to the perimeter of Little Mandy and found a 20 yard stretch adjacent to a point where my buddy and I slayed another 20, catching them on a red crawdad-colored crank bait and Bass Pro "Sure thing" Stick-O fished wacky. Great day on the water. Saw a coyote walking the trail, and then an F-14 practicing a few barrel rolls right over our heads. The sky was clouded over all day long. My biggest fish was caught top-water on ribbon worm skimming on the retrieve. She was about 3.5 pounds. Fun day. Most fish caught on outgoing and incoming tide

    • Report: Whoopbass » Sat Jun 04, 2016 10:53 pm

I was out there today and the best bite I had was off crawdad colored cranks. Caught quite a few up to 2 1/2 pounds. Biggest fish I caught was a 3 pound fish early on a spook. After I caught that fish I noticed my boat was taking on water and had to run back to the ramp so I missed the prime top water bite. The pump to the livewells broke and water was coming into the boat at a pretty good clip. I would have been in deep doo doo if I hadn't noticed it. Went to West Marine and bought a baitwell plug and plugged of the hole and went back out. Caught fish off a variety of lures but the best bite was on rip rap with cranks. The big fish eluded me once again.

    • Water Temp: 69-73

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: This is just a short report about the good bass fishing at Berryessa. I guided a nice couple that flew in from Texas to fish the lake. Fishing was very good during mid-day as a breeze came up about 11 pm - and so did the bite! We landed more largemouth than previous trips in the past several years! Between 11am and 1 pm, he landed a 5 lb 2 oz and 4 lb largemouth and I landed one at 4 lb 5 oz. Several 2 1/2 to 3 lb largemouth, Only caught 1 or 2 spots, but a few quality smallmouth up to near 3 lbs! Our 5 best a bit over 18 lbs. We caught most of our bass during those 2 hours in about 8 to 15 feet. The wind soon died and so did we (of the heat)! I also had a great trip last Friday, before the crowd hit! Fishing was excellent for many hours and nearly all bass over 2 lbs - biggest a spawn-out largemouth at 4 lbs. Smallies up to 3 lbs 10 oz hitting nearly all day!

Tips: Last week we used Robo worms of several colors. Yesterday, morning dawn was the best color as it was last year in early summer. Yamamoto creature baits were good last week as were Senkos. Bass were a little deeper last week, Both trips were in the narrows and main body (mostly west side).

    • Report: Delta Report…Great Weather for #FishOakley as Anglers from Throughout the West start rolling in for the Wild West Pro-Am in Oakley’s Big Break Marina. Up Next Russo’s Marina host’s the Yamamoto Big Bass event June 11-12. Then on Father’s Day at Big Break the 3rd Stop of the Dan’s Delta Tournament Series which will include Fathert’s Day Lunch for participating anglers and their families .

Isleton Hot summer night pattern prevails for bait tossing anglers. Catfish start to show in better numbers with Mackerel. Mackeral, Sardines and livers are the best bets. Smallies are also grabbing baits throughout the area. Craw patterns are key. Striper Trolling and plug casting has been ok the last few days. Trolling the Angry Eyes and Savage Preys is the best bet. Sturgeon anglers moved West .

Rio Vista- Warm seasonable weather ahead finally for anglers, and forecast to stay stable. Shore bound anglers are scoring both species. The best place to score a striped bass or sturgeon remains Sandy Beach and the area of the Power Lines, use Sardines or Shad. Trolling is scoring many limits stripers and occasionally, a 10-12 pounder caught. Savage Prey and P-line Angry Eye lures are key for the trolling anglers.

Walnut Grove . . Bank anglers tossing shad and Sardines prevail for an occasional Striper and nice catfish. Those looking for bigger bites try drifting live baits for stripers cracking the 10 pound plus keeps anglers smiling. Trolling Savage Prey baits colors 8 to 10 foot deep is key as the spring push continues. The Dirty “D” is clearing its name and conditions are improving for Black and Smallmouth Bass in the area. Spinnerbaits and Swim jigs are working in the Hog Area

Central Delta Where’s the punch bite? Most Blackie anglers are sticking with 3/4oz Jigs and small swim baits paired with Fatsack Swim Jigs. Frog Bite should improve, yet still not consistent. Stripers had another cameo appearance this week yet it was very brief. Catfish and Bluegill also had a improvement this week.

Frank’s Tract Black bass bite is at a consistent yet, tougher than normal bite. Sweet Beavers and Senko’s drawing a lot of attention. We are seeing a few big Black Bass with ¾ ounce Jigs Others looking to score are starting to crank Lure Fan’s new cc70’s baits and DDO custom Craws are solid options.

West Delta The stripers are here anchovies and sardines in many areas for bank anglers, Antioch Pier and along Sherman Island rd. Stripes to 28 pounds have grabbed baits . Trollers it’s getting started on both sides with Red Barn being the top choice, if they aren’t there move to the Eddo’s Side. Chartreuse patterns are the best bet.

Contra Loma – Try fishing for catfish at Channel Point, Loma Island or from a boat with nightcrawlers or chicken liver. Trout are biting on nightcrawlers at Channel Point, near the swim area, or from a boat. Black bass fishing has been tougher again this week, biting on artificial baits/lures or nightcrawlers anywhere around the lake. Try fishing for crappie or bluegill with jigs or worms at the boat ramp area, Loma Island or Channel Point area.

Los Vaqueros The Best bet is fishing with cut baits with all the hungry small stripers around. Trout are a bit slower but still caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Peninsula Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers is garlic scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmasters. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. With the continuing plants, trout fishing has been ok with some limits being caught from all around the reservoir.

Del Valle Find fallen trees, weed beds or the tulle patches. We would recommend throwing either a weedless senko or crawfish on a ½- to a 1-oz football jighead. Anglers are also catching them on shallow to mid running crank baits. Trout has slowed down due to the warm weather, most anglers are catching them on either garlic or colored Power Bait or nightcrawlers.

    • Water Temp: 78

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got out there after work in the blistering heat, hoping for a frog bite. Worked the cheese mats and hydrilla on the low tide. Started pretty slow with a few little fish and some missed strikes. Tide changed to incoming the current started flowing started getting more bites , but not in the $#!+, but near it. Fish weren't grabbing the bait that great with 1 hook getting em and some tossing the bait, So time for a change. Tied on a different snag proof perfect frog in a completely different color and bam, started getting bit more rapidly with the bait down the throat. Got a call from the wifey to see when I was coming home so I deployed the Tallon to talk to her, but still fishing. Made the cast to the slack area let it sit, hung up the phone looked away to put the phone down looked up frog gone with little sound. Set as hard as I could and dragged an 8lber out of the junk. Only big one of the day, but lots of 3's.

Tips: Big girl came while the frog Sat for 20-30 seconds. Patience even with the heat. Smaller fish came while working it moderately fast.

    • Water Temp: 72-73

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Guess the holiday boat traffic didn't both the fish much, great trip today. Seemed like every cast a hit. Launched about 6:35am at lime saddle, stopped fishing at 10am when it got hot. Fish were deeper today, with most fish caught 25-35 feet. 38 fish today, with one 15 1/2" in the picture, the others no picture as the camera battery died and no back up with me. The other two were 16" and 16 1/2", 4-5 14-14 1/2" and the rest basic 12-13" fish. Never made it to the N. fork, blowing winds kept me from that area, so fished the lime saddle area and a little out at the end of the west branch, trying to stay out of the winds! Roboworms the trick today, no wacky rig fish!! Picture in fishing forum.

    • Report: Well, I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately here there was a tragic accident this past weekend, one which should remind us all the importance of wearing one’s floatation device.

Saturday three individuals went in the water off of Anderson Island and only two came out. The body of third individual was retrieved Monday from amongst the wreckage of the boat on the bottom of the lake. So please, put your vest on, our families deserve at least that much from us while we’re out playing.

Ok, now for the report. Crappie, Crappie, Crappie! I must have had a dozen inquiries regarding the Crappie bite this past weekend; unfortunately I just don’t have the time. Rarely do I check my PM’s and my emails are blown up with reel questions most weekends, so here ya go. I apologize if I disappointed anyone....

Crappie can be found all around the lake with the Jago, Jensen, Rattlesnake, and County Park areas topping the list. Tulie lines, docks, and shady areas are all holding fish in the 1-3lb range. Crappie jigs, 2.8 Keitechs, and small underspins are all catching fish. Seriously, they are everywhere, and one hundred fish days are not uncommon for two anglers most outings.

Bass on the other hand are a little more difficult to find, at least quality fish. Yes, there are still some bedding fish but you obviously have to find clearer water, which may not be all that easy after this past weekend. Chatterbait, and underspin fish can be found on most flats, with most running two-three pounds. Fish a jig deep and you just might come across a couple better bites, and as usual, Kermit is beginning to put fish in the boat in a big way, still average is 2-4lbs, mostly fry guarders.

Lake level continues in the sixes, at 6.45 Rumsey, and the forecast is for HOT weather all through the week and into the weekend. My suggestion, chase the topwater bite in the AM, then cover some water with a chatterbait or underspin, then go play with the crappie, and end your day tossing Kermit! See ya out there!

    • Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took the kids out for a crappie trip today. I've never been had a successful day catching crappie and I've not fished Clear Lake in years. I heard the bite was good, so we took a chance. Boy was it worth it! We caught and released more than 300 crappie (did keep a few as well) in 5 hours. The kids were spoiled rotten and had a blast catching fish non-stop. Nothing big, maxed out at just under a pound.

Tips: Try crappie jigs in white, red or yellow below a slip bobber. The fish in the mid-morning started off biting in 8 feet or so of water out in the deeper weeds. As things warmed up, they eventually came up tight to the tules in 3-4 feet of water. To cover all depths, try throwing small plastic minnow imitations on a 1/8 ounce head, very slowly. Throw it near the tules and slowly reel it back letting it drop deeper as it pulls off the bank. This will help you locate the depth. I did this while my kids used the bobber. As we found the fishing moving depths, I adjusted their bobbers. Move along the bank until you start getting bit. Once we found a school, we caught 300+ fish in a 50 foot stretch of bank, working back and forth. We were told that the south end of the lake was producing better, and we were not disappointed. Try near Clear Lake Oaks in the rattlesnake arm, but they are literally everywhere. Have fun, and practice catch and release so we can experience this world class fishing for years to come!

    • Report: Delta Report…. Memorial Weekend Bite looks Awesome! Great Weather for #FishOakley as Anglers from Throughout the West start rolling in for the Holiday First Major Events of the Year! FLW Costa Pro-Am going now at Russo’s Marina arrive at Big Break this weekend.

Frank’s Tract After being beat up by crazy winds for a week, we some of the best water conditions of the year. Black bass bite is at a consistent yet, tougher than normal bite. Hematoma Beavers on over cast days also working well. We are seeing a few big Black Bass with ¾ ounce Jigs. Others looking to score are starting to crank Chartreuse Shad 6th Sense baits and DDO custom Craws are solid options.

Contra Loma – Continues as one of the best local bets! Try fishing for catfish at Channel Point, Loma Island or from a boat with nightcrawlers or chicken liver. Trout are biting on nightcrawlers at Channel Point, near the swim area, or from a boat. Black bass fishing has been good again this week, biting on artificial baits/lures or nightcrawlers anywhere around the lake. With the continuing plants, trout fishing has been very good with more limits being caught from all around the reservoir.

Del Valle . Trout has slowed down due to the warm weather, most anglers are catching them on either garlic or colored Power Bait or nightcrawlers. Staff would also recommend using small spinners or smaller jerk baits, Lucky Craft, or yo zuri. Anglers have been catching trout in the deeper waters, as the fish are staying down at depths of 15-20 feet. Black bass are hitting pretty good. Find fallen trees, weed beds or the tulle patches. We would recommend throwing either a weedless senko or artificial crawdads on a ½- to a 1-oz football jighead. Anglers are also catching them on shallow to mid running crank baits.

    • Water Temp: 72-75

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Another successful fishing trip on Black Butte for Memorial weekend 2016.
Even battling 30+ MPH winds, we managed to catch quite a few fish. Most were caught during the first 2 hours of day light and the last hour each day once the wind died down. Between five anglers, we boated 73 fish in three days. Surprisingly, we caught crappie off the rocks by the dam and bass just about everywhere. The larger bass were found up in Stoney Creek, around the trees in about 5 feet of water. Our biggest 5 largemouth were 3lbs 13oz, 2lbs 9oz, 2lbs 6oz, 2lbs 3oz and 2lbs 1oz. Although most were around the 1 lb range. Biggest crappie was 12.5 inches long. Majority of the bass were hooked using a Texas rigged green 6” Zoom lizard. The crappie was hitting 3.8” Keitech swim baits slowly swimming across the rocks. Good time and everyone caught fish (even the kids!)

Tips: Take a kid fishing, they will remember the experience for life!

    • Report: Clear Lake this Holiday Weekend

Lake level is 6.57 Rumsey, and with the weather stabilizing and the warmer temperatures, the bit is improving daily.
Top water frogs, hollow as well as solid along with jigs are all beginning to produce better numbers, as well as quality, as does the drop-shot.

Rattlesnake, the south Keys, and Rocky Point areas of the lake are all kicking out fish.
Another encouraging sign the post-spawn may be winding down, at least for the majority of the fish that have already done their thing, is that the crank bite is also beginning to take hold.

Water conditions have improved immensely as well. Algae at this time is at a minimum, and with the decreased winds, one can get around without too much trouble.

The crappie bite is on fire in the Rattlesnake arm so if you want to get the kids on an afternoon bite they are there for the taking. Any of the usually set ups will work on these lil battlers, bobber or non-bobber, both are working equally well.

Overall, with the forecast for nice weather this would be the weekend to get up here and run around.

      Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started today at 10am out at rattlesnake island then moved into the keys at 1pm. The fishing was very slow. The fish where chewing very softly. Started off in 15 feet of water looking for a jig bite for nothing and moved to drop shot. Started to catch straight away with small fish. I did catch a 16 lb 10 oz catfish on the dropshot. By mid day the fish moved to the back of the reeds. The fish seemed to be chasing Bluegils and Shad. The fish that I caught seemed to be around the gil beds. I did not catch any big fish though. Once we moved into the Keys we caught fish under docks but no size all 2-3 lb fish.

Tips: Drop shot early in open water around the weeds in 15 feet water with shallow weed beds.

    • Water Temp: 67-68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Took my son Jesse fishing, one of our two trips each year. He's not a fisherman, but loves to see the lake and catch fish now and then. We did a lot of sightseeing of the lake, more then fishing. Started in the south fork, went as far as the bridge. He's not a rubber man, so set him up with night crawlers on a Carolina rig. Worst part was, me having to bait the hooks, take all the fish off hook, he can't stand touching either! and un-stick his hang ups on the bottom. Fished an hour or so, caught a couple small 12-13" large mouth and a few spots and decided to go to the end of the middle fork. At 21mph, this takes some time in my boat. Went to where the middle fork turned to river, just far enough to see the water fall, beautiful area. We fished about another hour and managed to catch 18 fish total, with him getting the biggest of the day, just shy of 15" Doing some serious fishing next week. Picture in fishing forum.

    • Report: Clear Lake this week 5/23/2016

Well, June is nearly upon us and this has to be one the most unusual Springs we’ve seen in a long time. If it’s not the wind, it’s the lack of water clarity, or grey skies, or rising water etc. etc. etc. One way or the other you’ve had to be versatile to say the least in order to be successful to this point, and yes, if you haven’t had a spinning rod on your deck, at some point during the day you wish you had.

Now approaching the Summer, it will be interesting to see how things develop as our lil green friends begin to come out of their post spawn blues, which from the looks of things just might be happening now as witnessed by this weekend’s BBT event on Saturday. Eighty boats participated and it took 33lbs. to take the victory, and nearly 21 lbs to crack the top 10. Looking closer, the number of 5 lb plus fish weighed in was much higher than the past couple events held here, twenty teams weighed in at least one 5 lb plus fish. Not bad!

Meanwhile, while the water level continues to drop, and is now 6.2 or so Rumsey, I would suspect the rock piles should begin to hold some more numbers of fish willing to eat, and the flats will definitely start kicking out some top water fish if this past weekend is any indication.

North, South, East, or West? Well, that would be the question of the week, but considering the North end went first, it should also be the first area the fish begin to start chasing in earnest. Finding schooling fish chasing bait would be my early morning hope, and I’d start focusing on docks and top water weed areas as the afternoon progresses.

Underspins, Dropshots, Frogs, Buzzbaits, and smaller Jerkbaits have all been catching fish. Move around and cover water to find the more productive areas, don’t grind it out, move around and cover water and you should be able to find the more productive areas. Hint, it can change on a daily basis, so look around!

Weather forecasts for this week are for milder temps, lighter winds and some cloud cover so top water would be my first choice, and a drop shot around docks would be my second pick, but that's me!

    • Report: Attention All Boaters: Lake Chabot Marina will be closed for boating on May 26th and June 1st from 6am till noon. The public launch will also be closed at that time due to treatment of the algae. Fishing will be allowed beyond the first dock. We are treating the lake with Pak 27 which is a hydrogen peroxide based chemical that has no impact on fish and wildlife.
