      Water Temp: 46 to 52

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: We started out on the West Branch and then fished the North Fork. Early morning top water bite was not on, crank bait bite was not on,so we started with drop shot, tubes and senko's to pick up our bass. At the end of the afternoon we had 52 bass 4 were close to 3# and 12 were 2# plus.
      City: Paradise

Tips: Change methods until you find out what the bass want. I would like to crank all day but if its not working find out what the bass want. We keyed on points, coves, walls and fresh water. We just kept moving and changing.

      Water Temp: 50

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished with a buddy on Sunday, got on the water at Jones Valley around 8:00 after talking to several flw pros. Headed up the Pit past dark canyon, fished several cuts, most fish seemed to be in 15-20 ft. on main lake or secondary points, found very few in the creek channels. Caught about 30-35 fish all 1-2lbs, texas rigged, and drop shotted Petes' Six Shooter sharks, and Robo Worms, and we also caught quite a few on tubes. Fished behind four different pros on several banks and boated lots of fish behind them, never saw three of the four boat a fish in two hours. Those clothes and boats and 300.00 rods/reels are nice to look at but the fish don't really know who or what is on the other end of the line. Couldn't figure out why they were all wearing Gortex jackets and pants when is was pushing 70 degrees outside, I guess they don't want any of us amatures to mistake them for one of us poor ignorant fishermen.
      City: Susanville

Tips: Here's a tip for those pros who think they are better than us poor amatures, you might learn something by trying to have some at your job once in a while, also your not going to give up any of your top secret fishing info by saying hello "first" to a couple of amatures out on the water that are just trying to have some fun. By the way, Good luck this week to all the pros that we talked to that did have a little class.

Report: Mr B, Thanks for the info, not trying to step on anyone! click on his link & no one home, when that happens, gets me wondering, unless they're on the up & up. As for being there, I make it a point to stay away from tourney days. I like my fishing to be peace & quiet.

Report: Same basic Report as o-heim. Launched at first light from B&W. Fished the central Delta (including Franks), Whites, Disappointment, etc...fog to start the day, no bites. Bumped around all day. Water for the most part was muddy. Most of the guys we talked to were also struggling. My buddy Scott caught a couple of keepers.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 6:00 am til noon, tough bite. I split shot, jigs, ripped, dropshot, and threw swimbaits. The only success came on a jig and a split-shot lizard. I missed a few jig bites where they bit off tails.Post front not the greatest conditions.Water was up 2 feet from Fridays water level. Two fish total.
      City: Granite Bay Ca.

Tips: Don't go , the real story is the floating wood. It's posted 5 mph and one has to respect that.It took me 25 minutes to get to G B launch from half a mile north of Anderson Island. Normally thats a 4 minute trip.

      Water Temp: Cold

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished North and South lakes and Impoundment. On the North Lake at the pier below the boathouse, I threw out a 4" Senko along the tule wall between the pier and boat ramp on my spinning rod. Put the rod down with a slack line. I went to get my stuff from the other end of the pier. On the way back to where I had cast my bait, I see the rod tip bouncing around. I ran this fat old body as fast as I could to my pole, picked it up and it was over...well, that was the excitement of the day for me...

Saw a basser in a yellow kayak nail a couple of small fish on a chartreuse spinnerbait at the South end of the South Lake near the bridge. Fished with a couple of guys at the boat docks. Gabriel from Merced, CA who showed me a pic of a huge bass he caught a couple of weeks ago - and Takahashi from Japan, who had never fished the Lake before .
It's back to work tomorrow, but I had a fun time at the lake for 3 hours - anyway.
      City: Daly City

Tips: If you cast out your line and leave it alone, you'll be sorry (maybe).

      Water Temp: 53 to 55

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went up early Sunday and did pretty well even after the front moving through, fish average lb , biggest 4lb. Fished up Riverand caught fish every where using brushhogs and roboworms. Had to just let it sit there and twitch it a little, tried blades for a while but no takers. Wife even caught around 15 fish, alot of times the line just felt heavy, ended up with around fifty or so fish
      City: Modesto

Tips: Green and brown seemed to work best and fish super slow

      Water Temp: 48-53

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: My buds Todd and Rich were with me on Sunday, had a fun day of Casting on the lake! Launched from the Spillway and headed out to find some coves. Rich caught a 3.6 spot on a blade and that was it for the day. Started early and got off the lake at 3 PM. The water on the main lake was pretty clear, I could see my baits a little ways down around 5-6 feet in places. Main lake temps were from 48-50, some of the coves got to around 53.6*. We just couldn't get a pattern going. There was a 100% Bass tourney going on that day, I here tell the winning weight was 18Lbs!
      City: Plumas Lake

Tips: With the rain expected on Monday and Tuesday, who knows what will happen to the clairity of the water. But with the warmer weather coming on maybe some more of the bass will move up closer to the banks despite the outcome of the water clairity due to the rain. Patience!!

      Water Temp: cold

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished both of the back two ponds and caught 2 bass. One in each pond. Surprised I even caught anything because the water is like chocolate milk. Could barely even see my flippers in front of me. Caught one on a bleeding tube and another on a zoom super hog.
      City: Morgan Hill

Tips: Dont fish the back two ponds until the water clears up. Fishing is slow... Water is way up and pouring out of the small island pond.

      Water Temp: probably shrink

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: I thought there was a tournament on Sat. What happened no one showed or was it cancelled? This Gene Cardle posted a fake email. tried to get him to post results & it came back unknown. I was planning on going today 3/27/06, but, with all the rain & cold air, probably nothing has changed since I was up last. Calif is wet, up in the praries of Canada is so dry, they're not planting this year if it doesn't rain. Poor Canada.

      Water Temp: 50-53

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: First trip of the year to Berryessa with my brother. Fished the northern end of the lake mostly in Putah Creek. First fish was taken by my brother at Rancho Monticello campground, about a 1.5 lb smallie. Picked up 2 more smallies before heading up the creek. First stop the boyscout camp cove. Nothing. Went up the creek and fished the south side in flats from shore to 15 ft. Picked up 6 fish mostly smallies but 1 largemouth at 4.5 lbs. Headed back down to the lake and fished the shoreline south of the boyscout camp and picked up 5 more, mostly smallies, 1 spotted and 1 largemouth at 3 lbs.
Used ring worms in a variety of colors and caught fish on all of them. The 2 largemouth were caught on brush hogs. Rain off and on most of the day. Fished from 9AM to 3PM.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: The largemouth are sluggish and not on a reaction bite as the water is still too cold. Smallies hit like a rocket. Fish the points for the smallies. Once we get some warmer weather the largemouth will be on a great bite.

      Water Temp: 51-55

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I had a busy week with guide trips Tue, Thurs and Fri. I guess I have covered the world now having had clients from as far as Japan and now from South Africa. He and I fished Thurs and Fri and did quite well for smaller bass. Big females were hard to entice. He started well on Thurs morning with his FIRST cast producing a 2-7 spotted bass on a chartreuse/white Blade Runner spinnerbait! Welcome to America!! He is a bass pro from S. Africa and he landed that bass like a pro!! I think he is in second place now in their national circuit - an excellent fisherman!!! He loved that spinnerbait and I couldn't get it out of his hands for two days and gave it to him as a souvenir! After 18 bass and 20 or so misses on that lure in the two days - it was still in perfect shape. The unfortunate event of the two days happened in Wragg canyon after the rain started Fri afternoon. We pulled up on a point and I got a 2-2 smallie right away on a brown/orange Rodstrainer jig. He had picked a baby bass color small fat-free shad to throw, catching a few on it. As we moved to the inside of the point which had deep water near it, he threw - cranked once or twice - and stuck a hog. I'm not sure what happened but we never saw that crankbait again as the 12 lb test broke and the fish never surfaced. Not a nice California welcome!! The gentleman was not used to tangling with bass like that!!! Thurs was the only warmish day of March and the bite was fair but we only put 12 in the boat. We didn't fish every minute as I showed him much of the lake. He loved it! Lots of missed fish on jigs and spinnerbaits. We were throwing big baits looking for big fish. Friday I went to a smaller bait, landing a near 3 lb spot on a 4" Berkley green lizard. As the rain moved in the fishing picked up a bit and I lost count after 20 bass in the boat. Our limit Thurs might have gone 10 1/2 lbs. I had another excellent fisherman with me on Tues and he did well getting a limit as the fishing was very slow. I caught a few myself and a trout of all things! We studied the meter a lot as I was showing him some of the nice off-shore structure Berryessa offers. He was doing well on a purple jig of his. The highlight of the day was only seeing 4 boats - and only 2 were bass boats.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: It is hard to give constructive tips when the weather is so stormy and the lake is not only above full pool but still dropping a bit. Lots of trees have fallen in the water in the narrows as a result of storms. We saw several mudslides too. The reaction baits were working the best certainly on Thurs and Fri. The jig bite has slowed a lot - at least in my boat. I imagine small baits would work well, but we didn't fish them much even though the big spot fell for one. We threw swimbaits a lot on Tues and I threw one some on Thurs - nothing.
