Report: Any stillwater flyfisherman out there who have fished Contra Loma for bass or trout? Any input on fishing this lake with flies or for other methods for trout would be appreciated. I know this is a Bass webpage but I live 5 minutes from this lake, have a small boat, and would like to get my young kids into some fish.

Report: Fished South Lake today for 1 hour. Stayed with a black and blue jig and pumpkin green curly tail grub trailer. Flipped the tules around bank and off of the DPW pier. No luck today. I did try out a bass scent called Ultrabite Black Bass. It smells like decaying shellfish. If you have ever ate steamed whole crab and thrown away the shells, afterwards your garbage smelled like holy hell...well you get the idea. It is made in the U.K. I really have no idea if the stuff works, I'll keep using it when I jig fish and I'll report on my success, or lack thererof.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Went to CFW and tried fishin this morning, my buddy Rich and I caught some local chatter that the Bass were doing decent around some of the coves on Chart. Tubes. It was a really nice morning...so, armed with a great bit of fishing advice we gave it a heck of a shot!! But the wind picked up and it got a bit nasty, so off the lake we went at about 0930. It was rather chilly out there ta boot. The water temp wasn't too bad saw alot of 50-51 degree areas, but on the south/south east side the temps varied from 48-46. We'll get'm next time!
City: Plumas LakeTips: None really to offer sorry Yall...

Casitas Lake

Coyote Lake
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Float tube. Nailed a 4+ pounder flipping big senkos into trees in the south end. Only bite all day. Fish didn't hit a Huddleston swimbait or jig/trailer. Water level is high and there is an abundance of cover to flip. Another float tuber reported a handful of 3 and 4 pounders, with his friend nailing two 8 pounders. However, I didn't see the fish, so who knows.
City: Belmont, CATips: Senkos into cover always seems to work at some point in time, esp. when fish are staging for the spawn. Look for shade/cover combo.

Report: Fished North Lake along bank from West End Tules to long pier. Arrived at 12:00pm and left at around 3:30pm. Flipped the tules with a black/smoke colored 4" Senko and drop shot a 4" Roboworm along the back and sides of the pier. Got one light bite on the Senko and that was it.
A beautiful day at the Lake. Met a fellow San Franciscan and basser named Norman Mackenzie. His son is Scott Mackenzie (who currently fishes on the Stren Tournament circuit). He stopped and chatted with me for a while on the pier. We both have wonderful experiences of the Lake and fishing with our kids there. He has probably forgotten more about bass fishing at Lake merced than I will ever know. Believe me - he hasn't forgotten a thing! He is a fine gentleman and I hope to see him out there again, soon.
City: Daly CityTips: Should be some fine fishing here, in just a little bit. Work the baits real slow and be patient...the water is going to warm up, soon.
