      Water Temp: 60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On the water at 2 pm started with crankbait and flippin jig noaction. Switched to drop shotting focused on standing timber and caught starting getting plentiful bites. Several 1 pounders and three 3 lbers. For a quick trip had a good time. Lake closed at 5 pm.
      City: Pleasanton

Tips: Fish appear to be holding to what little cover there is. Lake is VERY low.

      Water Temp: 59-60

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: This lake is not for the fait of heart. I was out for only 2.5 hours in the mid-morning to "prefish" for some relatives in town this weekend ... Result ... I ain't takin' 'em to Folsom.

I didn't have a lot of time so I worked from the Peninsula to the mouth of the S. Fork. Charted scatered bait and some fish. Most activity seemed to be between 32 and 26 feet down.

I tried dropping darterheads, drop shots and spoons to no avail. You can tell these fish are super negative right now.
      City: Auburn

Tips: We need a change of weather. This storm might do it. The weekend could be different. But with the Striper action on the Delta, you might just be better off going for those Tuxedo Fish.

      Water Temp: 58-60

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Haven't fished this lake but one other day this year. it was toughout there. But I did take my 7 year old son and he had a blast. Caught one fish from 7 am to about 12:30. Fish came on a darthead in about 25 ft, way up the north fork above the bouy line.
      City: Roseville

Tips: If I stuck to it and didn't have a little one with me, I could grind it out for a limit. Best of luck.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Got out for two hours late and fished till dark. Caught 14 bass, biggest was 4.42. Caught fish on rattle traps, speed traps, swimming jigs and brush hogs.
      City: Novato

Tips: Fish seemed to want the baits moving. Don't give up on your cast. I caught more than half of my fish with 2-3 feet of line out and dragging it in front of me. Works in the spring with spinner baits too. Have your drag set a little loose, cause the fish I caught were hot.

      Water Temp: 58-59

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out for a couple of hours in the morning. Started with my favorite ripbait. Only caught one bass that went just under 2lbs. Also caught a 15lb. carp on the ripbait...go figure. Moved to deeper water with the dropshot and ended up with 2 more bass that were 1.8lbs and 2.2lbs. Off the water at noon.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Water is cooling down. Late afternoon on the sunny days is probably the best bet after the water has warmed up a bit. Deep fish are there. I was marking both bait and bass in 25-30 feet off most of the points.

Report: Check it out pal, I have been bass fishing for a couple of years now and get to the water once a month if i'm lucky! Most times I go to closer water like almaden lake park or guadalupe, for which I have posted some reports! (this past spring if you look) Sometimes I get a tip from someone and learn something new! Most fishermen will tell you what worked for them if you ask them! Since I hadn't been out to calero since this past spring I checked out the latest reports, the ones that reported nothing about fishing! So check it out pal, maybe if you share info you might learn something new!

Tips: flashers, rappala broken backs. Power bait Bright green.

Report: Another incredible day on Trinity Lake! I fished again today with my buddy, John Gray. Wow, John can really find these fish! We pulled up on a spot about 7:30 am, first cast 6lb. 6oz. largemouth. Next cast, 6lb. 5oz. largemouth! A few casts later, 5lb. 4oz. largemouth!! About 10 minutes later, another 6 lber. came unbuttoned as I was about to lip her. We gave them a chance to rest for a while, then John answered with his first fish of the day, a 4lb. 12oz. largemouth. Things slowed a bit after that. We searched for a while and the bite had definately shut off. We went to the ballpark area, John had a feeling there might be some takers there. He was right. Within a few minutes, I had my new personal best smallie, 5lb. 1oz!! That was the last fish of the day. The 5 fish total was 27lb. 7oz. These last two trips to Trinity with John have been two of the finest days I have had on any lake in over 15 years of bass fishing. As always, each fish was safely released after a quick photograph.
      City: Eureka

Tips: Don't be afraid to make the trip to Trinity in the winter. The fog can be very thick on the water this time of year in the a.m. Please use caution when boating, visibility can be very low. If you're looking for a guide, that's easy! John Gray can really get it done up here. I thought I knew this lake pretty well before I fished with John. It makes a world of difference to fish with a someone who can share the specifics of this great place.

Report: I had another "crowd" in my new Ranger 520 for a guide trip on Sat - a father, 12 year old son, and 19 year old cousin. I decided to take them during the same time frame as last week - starting at 9:30 and fishing 'til dark. Once out of Markley Cove, I parked the boat and got out the rigs and explained some basics of bass fishing as this was everyone's first bass trip. We started with Camanche Jack's 4 and 6 inch worms - Texas and split-shot rigged. I had the 12 year old up front with me as we started fishing a big shadow area. Was I excited to see that they all could cast like pros. It was amazing. Within the first 15 minutes, the boy puts his first bass in the boat - about 12 inches. Then his second - near 14 inches - and his third - 14 7/8 inches! Wow - a natural! I can hear his thinking - "boy, there's nothing to this bass fishing"!! Of the 17 bass we caught, he caught 9, 8 tournament keepers!!! The 19 year old did ok, landing 4 and loosing a big one. I fished a little and landed 4 also. Dad struggled and didn't land any, but did take a ton of photos! We just fished the narrows since I didn't see a need to go anywhere else. We tried to fish shadows most of the time and I think that was a good decision. I knew there would be some really deep fish, but it is hard to get newcomers to fish 60 feet of water. Luckily, we found plenty of quality bass in the 15 to 35 foot range. I tried rippin' and topwater for fun, but no takers! Our limit was only about 9 1/2 lbs, but these folks are already planning a spring trip - and a night trip - and who knows what else. New converts to this great sport!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: We saw the houseboat carrying the government folks involved in the Saturday meeting in Winters. They were touring the lake before the meeting and were headed back to Markley Cove. We boated over to the houseboat and waved to everyone, showing them how pleased we were to be fishing such a great lake. Nearly 700 people attended the meeting I heard. People better start paying attention to this situation if we are to continue to enjoy this great sport on this great lake! Back to the fishing, morning dawn and purple ghost worms were the best colors for us in the clear water. Points with sharp edges, as they usually do this time of year, held a lot of the fish we caught. Shadowed walls with brush also held nice bass. Our biggest bass was only about 2 1/4 pounds. The 12 year old did himself proud with a 2 lb 3 oz largemouth. He's hooked on bass fishing for sure!!

Report: Fished all day long... sunup - sundown. Nothing. The fish were deep = along bottom. Even when we were there nothing bit. Most everyone the same - a few fisherman along shore with 1 or 2 non-legals.

      Tips: Dress warm. 46F am.

      Water Temp: 62.5

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished between 10AM and 2PM. Not a very good window of time, and the fishing reflected it. It was tough. Fished from 25 to 40ft of water. One sluggish bite and I missed him. Fished tubes, worms and reapers with nothing to show. Talked to one other "regular" and he had only one small 12" fish to speak of. Just a tough day. Blue skies, 75 deg, and no wind. Not a good combination for fishing, but a beautiful day to say the least.
      City: Clovis

Tips: Fish early or fish late, but don't try the middle of the day right now!

      Water Temp: 62-64

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The lake is in flux right now and bites are hard to come by. Did find bait and fish on the main body in 20-30 ft. but only caught a 1.5# in that area. Moved over to a ledge in the Mormon Island area and caught a small keeper in 47 ft. Bait in all places I fished was scattered and hard to follow. Dropshot and darthead were the deals of choice.
      City: Roseville

Tips: We need a cold and wet storm to come in and finish the turnover. The 70 degree days with little or no afternnon wind are keeping this lake in the tough bite mode. Some report fish up shallow in the afternoon, but I can't find them. I stayed deep with a dropshot & dartheads. Probably could get a small limit at around 8 lbs. if I stuck to it. Good luck.

      Water Temp: 58-60

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished on Sunday with Paul Addi from Las Vegas. We strted out in Big Break chasing Salmon and Stripers on traps. To our surprise, we got into a nice school of blacks. First fish Paul hangs an 8 lb 4oz largie with a belly sock full of something REAL hard, and still movin! What a pig! LOL We bounced around the river fishing mostly big rocky points, catching fish on jigs and plastics, and an occasional dropshot fish. We then finally found one small tull eisland loaded with shad. We began tossing the rattle traps and caught a bunch of 18" stripers, then on one erroneous cast into the shallow grass right on the point where I saw a swirle, a 7 lb. 14 oz. largie grabs my trap. We then started to slow roll spinnerbaits in 10 feet outside this islands edge and caught another 10 blacks to 3 pounds and countless 18-22" stripers.
      City: Oakley

Tips: The striper bite is wide open, move around and toss traps and pencil poppers. The largemouth bite can be spotty, expect periods of inactivity when the skies are blue. Bounce around the points of rocky ledges and tulle islands to find the better fish.

      Water Temp: 62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 6:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. Brother-in -law and I caught 29 bass between us. Ranged between one and four pounds. Larger fish came early on topwater and spinner baits. Used drop shotting later in the day. Caught fish between five and fifteen feet deep.
      City: Rancho Cordova

Tips: Fish are grouped up. Would catch three or four fish in five minutes in a small area, than go thirty minutes with nothing. Have to work around the trout fisherman, but worth it. Only saw two other bass boats on the lake.
