      Water Temp: 55.6

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: After the storm on Friday, Dennie Howard and I took a 1/2 day off and hit Folsom Lake from 1pm to 4pm. The water is now coming up again but still cold air. We found a bouy just out from Grainte Bay with balls of bait, using drop shot, carolina rig, greenpumkin lizards and leach. We got three nice fat spots and smallies upto 3 lbs.
There bellies are full of shad getting ready for the long winter. Slowly drag and shake something on the bottom in 25-45 ft. moved around in the warm afternoon sun for December looking for bait and large arches on my screen. Within the three hours we picked up 5 fair bass.

The next day out with Joe Miller in his Triton (my pro craft at home), the day was a little different. Light to medium winds and cold. The same at the day before but also using JK brown/brown Jigs with a # 180 double tail. All I can say is dress warm and fish slow. Joe and I had our best was 11.75 for our five.

      Good luck and be safe
      City: rocklin

Tips: If you can get down with a split shot 6 lb test line works and 50-60 ft with a 1/2 oz jig.

      Water Temp: 58 Degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On the water at 10:30am waited for clear skies. Fished right after stormy weather hoping to get a reation bite going. Started by Morman Island which is now completely exposed due to water level dropping dramatically over the last month. water level is down 40 feet and falling. I could not get a reation bite all day. Fished both the North and South part of the lake. Found a lot of fish between the 15-40 foot level which is probably where thermacline is. I did not want to drop shot today and that is probably why I did not get any bites. Had one fish follow my crankbait around 3:30 pm which is when I noticed the fish coming to the surface and busting shad. I saw about 5 or 6 other bass boats on the lake fishing. There were no skiers on the lake due to low water temperature. I thought for sure that the storm would kick these fish in gear and send them into a feeding frenzy and thus a reation bite. No so, these fish are getting ready for the long winter and have started to decend into deeper water......Good luck. Oh by the way, I want to say thank you to the Idiot who thought he was cleaver by flying by me at 70 mph in shallow water just to get to either his spot before me or to see if he could actually out do a 115merc 4stroke with his 200 merc. I hope you made it to your spot without any damage to your boat? People like you are the reason why real fishermen stay away from Folsom. You and your buddy from what I could see were rather young thus the reason for your immuturity. Next time you may not be so lucky and come up against someone who will take offense to your stupitity.
      City: El Dorado Hills

Tips: Fish are deep so you may have to drag a worm or drop shot a worm. And, stay a way from white bass boat about 19-20 feet in length with a couple of young Idiots on it. They might just cut your boat in half just to get to "their spot"!

Report: The water was warmer than the outside temp, 42*. We caught around 30 or so fish most in the slot, 6 over the slot. In the morning till about 9 we used crank baits, then drop shotted light colored worms. Most of the fish were in the 50 foot range, caught some at 90 foot.

      Water Temp: 54deg

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the rockwalls just outside the launch area with cranks and dropshots, nothing. cruised to the old bridge area and just inside the 5mph zone fished the south rock walls. Caught one on turqiouse/yellow crank in 8' of water. Spooned just under the bridge with no luck. Moved back into the creek just passed the bridge and got one to go on a Robo FX peoples worm. Rain came and that was it.

Tips: Shallow running cranks on submerged wood, dropshotting in 25' off rocky points/flats. I think next time i'll spend more time spooning as i believe these bass are suspending big time right now. Slow down and fish thourough(i did not this time and I think i shouldve patterned those suspended bass more)....keep the reports alive, post if u fish. Tight Lines.

      Water Temp: 60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the launch area, 15 - 30 yards from the launch ramp. Found a drop-off with rocks, that's holding a school of fish. Caught fish from 1 - 3 lbers, using droptshot with zoom finesse worm. Presentation is the key. Also, caught suspended fish jigging a spoon.
      City: South Bay

Tips: When using dropshot, cast to a spot and do not move the bait, just shake it and let it sit there for a while (1 - 2 minutes). Be patience, until there is weight on the line. For jigging spoon, pay attention as the the bait flutter down, that's when the fish would hit.

Report: Launched at Russo's at 7am and headed to west Franks tract. First dozen casts with a super spook pearl had 3 explosions. Stripers. Oh boy I thought we are on them now. Then nothing????? Hit a couple more points same thing. Switched over to you guessed it chrome-blue rattletrap 3/4 oz. 2 hook ups right away. 5 and 7 lbs. My buddy is just looking at me pissed off. The wind starts howling, and I mean cujo style. Managed a 6 blacks biggest 3lb 2oz. 5 bag went only 11 lbs. The white caps were huge. Thought I gone outa half moon bay. Called it a day at 12pm. Chilled to the bone, wind blown back home.
      City: bethel island

Tips: Rattle trap chrome-blue back 3/4 oz. for stripers. Had good luck with crawdad pattern shallow running cranks.

      Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Another "first" for me at Clear Lake! No, not the fishing - although I did take a brother and sister for the first time in my career! The "first" was when we arrived at the Clear Lake Oaks ramp about 9:30 am (this time of year I like to guide 'til dark), boats were pulling out! The lake was really getting nasty windwise and one or two guys told me they caught nothing. So I gulped and said to myself "here we go"!! We motored over to Rattlesnake Island to hide from the wind (that lasted about 10 minutes!) and I set up their rigs. It was even hard to fish there but we managed. They were using Dead Ringer worms and he landed the first - near 2 lbs. Soon she has a good one on and I netted a bass that looked 5 but was only 3 1/4. This was the fattest bass ever to come into one of my boats. She looked like she swallowed a trout - no kiddin'!!! I may post a pic so you can see! Anyway, the bite wasn't too good and the wind would not let us do anything, so we made the decision to pull out and go over to Konocti Resort and launch. It was a little better there but not much. The wind never let up and was swirling at 25-30 mph. Talk about boat control - that was a joke. Sis had the touch though and landed 4 quality bass in the 2 1/4 to 3 1/4 lb class - all on worms. Brother only landed the one. I tried different baits when I had a chance and did land 4 or 5 to near 2 3/4 lbs. We should have drop-shotted earlier - that was working next to docks as we flew by them with a 30 mph tailwind!! Her four and one of mine gave us about a 13 lb limit. I'm happy we had a limit at all! It was interesting to feel the temp drop a few degrees every hour as the post-front set in. At least most of the rain was over.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: It is always interesting to me that when the big fish are off the bite, the dinks have run of the place. I caught 3 or 4 five to seven inch bass - a good sign for next year. We couldn't fish any off-shore structure, but did find fish at the ends of docks on the deepest pilings. Docks with the steepest drops held the most fish but the wind just didn't allow us to do much very effectively. I was able to help them learn some techniques and a few good areas to fish - when conditions are better!!!! We really enjoyed the day in spite of the wind.

      Water Temp: 57

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Shata during the Thansgiving holidays, Thuirsday through Sunday. The weather has changed significantly from two weeks ago. Thursday found most activity in 35 feet. Friday the temps dropped and rain. There was a rather brief, shallow water reaction bite but then found the bait and fish moved out to 45-50 feet. I only fished the Sac arm area. Caught most fish drop shottin 4" Aaron's Magic, Robo Worm. Also got a few on 20 foot flats on brown/orange jigs. In total got about 70 fish. Most were small keepers. Largest 2.5 lbs.
      City: Sam Ramon

Tips: As usual, if you are on the water at first light throw reaction baits on long casts. Then, move out and find the bait. Fish drop shot or dart heads. If you like throwin jigs, you can get some quality fish on the flats.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Walked the shoreline between the rain showers. Used a Carolina-rigged lizard off the points and caught 2 bass. One was about a pound and the other was probably 3lbs. They were both deep and on the bottom. The water is getting cold and the fishing is getting tough.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Fish the points and rocky shorelines slowly with soft plastics.

      Water Temp: 59

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Can't believe I went fishing in a rain storm but I had not been in a month and needed a bass fix. Cold front was moving through as I got on the water at 1130AM. With the wind rain and overcast I started with crank bait. Nothing. Tried shaking a tex rig worm and carolina rig - nothing. Switched to drop shot Robo worm and picked up 7 fish under 2lbs. Pattern was rocky shore on points in 25ft. Bite lasted a couple of hours until the wind shifted to out of the north and the temp dropped and the bite shut down. It was cold and miserable and possibly not worth the pain. There were only a few other boats out. Talked to an Anderson regular who only got 2 fish which made me feel better about not putting more fish in the boat.
      City: Foster City

Tips: Don't fish during a passing cold front. If you do go dress warm and fish soft plastics in deeper water along rocky shoreline.

Report: This message is for the last post from Bill.
I am taking the wife out tommorrow striper fishing, I would like to hopefully help her catch some fish. If you could help what areas were productive for you? Incoming or outgoing tide? I appreciate any help I can get.
I have not had much success the last two times I took her out.

      Thanks,
      Pineapple

Report: Went out at Wimpy's on Friday in the rain with big Capt Mike and Quency Malone looking for black bass and stripers. Crankin, Swim baits, Rattle Traps did not help. Found some small black bass with Senkos when the tide was coming back in. The sun came out and the fish went in. Three hours in the water and it was time for lunch at Wimpy's great cheeseburgers. Sunday might be a good day and try again.

      Water Temp: 55 to 58

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: fishing here for bass from 1 1/2 to 2 pound bass is fair to good brown jig in 3/8oz with twin tail watermelon grub trailer works well also watermelon baby brush hogs work well on brass and glass reaction baits work early for shallow fish but most fish are in 15 to 30 feet of water. rock piles and drop offs are your best bets. also long points fishing bothdeep sides of the points hold nice fish. trout plants are coming here soon too check for campground sites.
      City: kerman ca

Tips: slow your lures down keep in contact with bottom at all times they like a bait that you can swim and keep in the strike zone.
