Water Temp: 56 to 57 in the

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: This week we finally got a warming trend with a couple of days of stable weather. I saw fish on beds these past couple of days and fish starting to move up and hold around the tules and docks. I had customers out this week that caught a 10.2 lber, a 8 1/2 a 7 1/2 and several in the three to four pound class. This Saturday we have the future pro tour going out of the Konocti Resort, there will probably be over a 150 boats in that Tournament so the lake will be a little busy. There is a small front expected to move through this weekend. If it's not to cold or windy, I think these fish will still hold and bed up. We have a full moon the 24th and this has been a DELAYED, spring and the fish need to spawn bad.
Fish this week were caught on lucky craft lv 500's and small swim baits. The bigger swim baits have not seemed to work as well as the smaller ones. The 10 lber this week came off of a bed, the customer had a ball trying to get her to go.
      City: Nice

Tips: Work your spawning areas, work outside as well as look inside. Throw the five inch mission fish in the tules and work the smaller River to Sea's on the outer edges of the tules. Use 20 lb test on your swimbaits and a rod with some backbone to it. I use a 7ft rod made by Phoneix and also a 7 ft Kistler rod. If your into bed fishing, now is the time to start looking. Feel free to e mail me for any additional info needed. (all of my customers fish this past week were all caught in the upper end of the lake)

      Water Temp: 65-68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got there 7:45pm to 9:30pm. Got home 10:15. I ran to the lake for 15 min knowing exactly where I wanted to go. The sun dropped over the mountain and in 5 min I had my first fish about 1.5 on a white pearl fluke it jumped off right at the bank, no worries. I hopped back in the car noticing the full moon. This was just the night I was waiting for. Parked in Donolan with little light now that the sun was down. Ran as fast as I could to the spot catching my breath as I got there, adrenaline got me over the hill. Back at the spot the very first cast with a new fluke on yielded a solid 4lb. The very next cast the lure hits the water, sets for a few seconds, "twicth twitch" boom!. I set the hook twice on a fish that seemed not even to budge. After the second hook set my line goes light and the fish comes to the top of the water and shakes her head. "Oh my God",was all I could say. There was no one around and the silence is completely broken by the sound of this fish shaking her head sideways through the water. The fight seemed like an eternity. I probably had the fish in, in 6 minutes. The fish I estimate was easily over 10lbs. It was, not exaggerating, as long as my arm and full of eggs. I ended up catching five more fish to 5lbs. Did not bring my scale. But a few consecutive cast yielded 2 fish at 3+, 2 fish at 4 and one probably right at 5lbs. There a few fish smaller around 1 to 2.5 lbs. They bit after the bigs girls. All this damage was done in an hour. By far the best night of fishin ever for me period. I switched to a darker fluke when I couldnt see my line they saw the fluke just fine. Best five over 30! Wow unbelievable
      City: Oakley

Tips: No tips really, I think this trip was just timing. Watch your line. The big one just made my line completely straighten out. When I couldnt see my line anymore I just reel the slack in a little and I could feel them swimming with it.

Report: A buddie and I hit Eastman shortly after sun up. Went to the dam and pounded the shore counterclockwise to the keep out section. My buddie Chris slayed some nice fish on a spinnerbait as I nabbed a 2pnd trout and two dinks on a drop shot and darter head. It was a little windy at the start, but it died down after a few hours. When the wind left so did the blade fish. Senko and drop shot fish took over after that.
      City: Tulare

Tips: Wind = blades, no wind = plastic: (For us anyways) Q: can someone email with the reason for the closure of that nice looking piece of lake. I've only been to Eastman 4 times and I have always wondered.

      Water Temp: low 60's

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: At 10am I caught a small bass on a silver and white spinner-bait with a clear grub trailer at the point by the bridge. About 1/2 hour later I landed a 4-5 pound female in the corner cove. (Coleman and Winfield Rd.) I could see her nesting under some timber and although she saw me I still decided to see if I could get her to bite. I flipped a drop shot rig at her with a 4" roboworm and just let it fall beside her. She came to investigate and then "wham", she nailed it. Set the hook and brought her in. Slow day overall, but it beats workin'!
      City: San Jose

Tips: Presentation and patience. Since the water is clearing up, take more time presenting the bait.

Report: Fished Tuesday on a windy sunny day with my wifeon our new Ranger. Caught 16 total with 15 coming on Little Beavers pitched tight to rock corners in shade on the lakes South end. The other came on a split shot bloodline worm on a point. All fish really shallow. Moved off to try and find Grandma but no one home.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Bite Subtle. Know the weight of your line and bait or it will be very frustrating for you.
Draging the bait worked well while hopping did not produce squat

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Chesbro throughout the weekend for a total of 10 hours with no bites with a white spinnerbait from shore. I tried all along the dam up to the first cove at the end of the dam. Some other guy pull out a small 1 pounder with a small 4in worm on a texas rig. Fairly windy conditions makes it hard to cast far enough to get to where the bass are.

      Water Temp: ?????

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished with my 11 yr old son and a couple of good friends Saturday, and found the fishing tough to say the least. We launched out of County Park and headed to the mouth of Kelsey Creek for a little swimbait/spinnerbait action...NOT! My son threw a chartruse blade and I threw a hitch swimbait and we got skunked for the first two hours. He changed to a white blade and caught a 1 1/2 lber and that was it. We moved to Horseshoe to see how our friends were doing and found they were having as tough a time at it as we were. The wind pushed us out of there in a hurry so we decided to head north to Nice/Lucerne and fish some docks which turned out to be a little better. Had to pick up the ol' dropshot rod and started to find a few fish on a 6 " Roboworm in softshell craw but nothing that made you want to call Bill Dance to schedule a guest apperance over. We then headed to Lakeport (had to burn at least a 1/2 tank of gas to ensure
Exxon/Mobile makes that 2.8 billion profit this quarter) for some good ol' tule fishing. Again, caught some, but nothing big (1-3 lbs)on dropshot worms in craw and purple. My boy lost a 3 lber at the boat on a worm and I tripped over his bottom lip for the next 1/2 hour but he pulled it together and had a good time. Ended up at Trailer Park slough and was amazed at what I found. The water was so brown it looked like Yoohoo, and it was sooooo plugged with shad that my depthfinder wouldn't show me the bottom, it was just black from top to bottom. I thought it was curious that there was a Stratos owners tourney going on and I was the only boat in Trailer Park at noon?!?!?!?!?
Now I see why. I know there are big fish there this time of year but with food so readily available, why would they eat a piece of plastic? We had a friendly competition going with my two buddies, and we spanked them (they only had two fish all day) but it was a tough bite for mid- April. Saw some big hens warming their eggs under docks so bedding is about to get serious. Can't wait for that!
      City: Ukiah

Tips: Heard there was a 41 lb limit brought in on Saturday...hats off to them. We couldn't get it going until we picked up the dropshot rig. They seemed to be in front of the tules (see Larry Hemphill's posting for splitshot report)and off the front of the docks but I know we just didn't do something right. Had fun with my son though and that, my friends, is what it is all about.
      Good luck!!!
