Both were taken on purple on purple pig and jig and got in less than 5 feet of water in spawning areas, with deep water close by.

      Water Temp: 56

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fishing was slow, fish are 30-35 feet. We caught our fish on Robo,s (Bold Blue Gill)throwing out towards deep water and bringing our worm uphill. Lake has lot's of debris. North end still has a mess. Need to be careful!due to debris everywhere. I was a little disappointed that you can't go al the way up the river channel like in recent years due to lots of silt that has come down the river. Rest of the lake is full. I think once the weather starts to turn nice the fishing should kick into high gear.
      City: Moorpark,Ca 93021

Tips: Throws jigs, orange color crank baits, Bold Blue Gill, fish slow

Report: Out with the Maine Guide, John Gray, once again. I've decided to make this a monthly habit - life is too short. This was actually a delayed Christmas gift for my 67 year old Pop, and my brother. All in all there were 4 of us fishing in two boats with John on Sat. and the first half of Sunday. You think he had to work hard? The bight was tougher on Saturday as we ended up with 20 fish over about 10 hours on brown tubes and smoke colored 4 and 6 inch worms. No reaction bites. The fish were caught in 5 to 25 feet of water on rock piles and rocky flats and banks.

Sunday was a different story. The reaction bite was on. The two of us in my boat landed 13 nice fish from 6:45 AM to 8 AM. Almost all on reaction bites, rips and cranks. The largest was a 4.15 Smallie. The other boat had a bit of a slower day , landing about 6 fish in 3 hours of fishing. The bite was considerably more shallow on Sunday. The fish are moving up. We got them in 2 to 10 feet of water.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Take a trip to Trinity, you won't regret it. It is funny to watch the crowds follow John around and mimic his patterns. Most folks were out on the deeper tailing piles and there is no doubt the fish are there too ... but they are moving more shallow by the day now. THANKS JOHN!

Fought it for about 3-4 minutes, got it to shore where it popped my 12 lb. line and swam away with my crank stuck in its fin. Then caught two bass crankin. Then had to leave for work.

Tips: Change your line every season. Bounce your crankbaits off bottom.

Report: Shaun and I went out today, got a late start about 10 am. Fished a hump by Folsom point for a few spots, biggest was a little over 3.5 on the scale. Next ran up the north fork, started tossing jigs up on trees, thump, brought a nice largie about 5-6 pounds up and lost him at the boat. kept working trees up the north fork with 2 more largies right around 4lbs on the scale. Its nice to see there are still some in the lake. Went back out to the main body, caught quite a few more spots and smallies up to about 2lbs drop shottin, split shottin' and dartheads. Overall a really productive day on Folsom.
      City: folsom

Tips: Brown and purple jigs, as the water temp warms, these fish will be moving up and getting ready to spawn. North Fork seems to be clearer than the south, and warmer. Dark brown worms, 4 and 6 inch, and morning dawn all productive colors. good luck and tight lines

Started off in Cherry Creek and Dave picked up a nice 4.1lb Large Mouth on a Salty Dog Texas rigged, then he followed it up with a 1.5lb. But from then on it was me for the next nine fish with my trusty Drop shot rigged with a Pinky Tescadero, nothing over 2lbs but 5 big enough to take home the overall weight. One of the highlites of the day was watching the drive by Squirrel Hunters! All in all it was a good day, sure beats work.

Tips: Skip work ... Go fishing. But wait until the water warms up.

Report: When you least expect it - the fishing CAN BE good! Second post-front trip in a row, but todays results were much better!! My client wanted to throw some swimbaits along with building his jig confidence. We started out of Markley Cove about 7 am. We wound up with an amazing 17 1/2 pound limit - which featured his 4-13 and 5-9 swimbait largemouth. He lost the biggest one - that would have been some limit!! He also caught a 3 lb largie on a brushhog and a 2 1/2+ smallie on a jig - which pleased both of us greatly. I had a big spot and several good fish on a Berkley Pulse worm. We caught 7 apiece but he was the star! What a good fisherman! I was helping him prepare for a tournament, so I can't say much more about where we were fishing or the swimbaits he was using. I can say that mine didn't work!!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: We found all sorts of confused bass - from 5 feet deep to about 30 feet. Bait was hard to find today. Again, I was surprised at the quality of the fish considering the cloudy morning and some north wind.

      City: sacramento

Tips: spinnerbaits, crankbaits, buzzbaits and senkos

      Water Temp: 48-50F

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: 1st trip to this pond. Nice calm, cold morning, fishin' w/ my dad. Found lots of interesting structure throughout the main body. Four spots, 1.5 - 3.0 lbs (missed 3 other bites). All fish were solid chunks, in 5-15 feet. Jigs, hula grubs, & senkos. OK for a little over a half day. I'll be back.
      City: Castro Valley, CA

Tips: Studied the map the night before, then spent probably 1/3 - 1/2 my time looking at structure on the graph. Not something I'm real good at, but it seemed to pay off.
