Report: Sounds like you ound the Old Parkway Lakes. First, you need a loat tube. This place is almost impossible to ish rom the shore. Very, very limited as you discovered I'm sure. Fish the pond with all the stick-ups. You'll know which one I mean by just looking at it. Tons o underwater weeds! (and sticks) Stick with plastics and jigs in black, black/blue/, or june bug colors. They seem to work best. Two things: When tubbing, BE VERY CAREFUL! Alot o sticks in here and they can pop your tube i you're not careul. (Water is very deep with almost no shoreline. Wear your lie jacket just in case. Second, do not ish this water during the o Salmon months. Yes, salmon. Supposedly, steelies run through here and the rangers will shoot you on site. Just kidding, but you will be sited or ishing out o season. Good luck
      City: S.J.

Tips: Stick with Plastics and jigs. Keep in mind, a lot o weeds and wood cover.

Report: Night ishing good. Ended up with an 18lb limit (5, 4, 4, 3, 2). Got that 5 that I lost last week! Weighed 5.2. Same place, same lure. Didn't get a whole lot o bites, but the ones I got were solid ish. Also got an about 10lb catish. It pulled hard and gave my reel drag a workout. A couple ish were super shallow, like 3', and the rest up to 15'.

Tips: Medium sized plastics got it done or me(big dead ringers, hulas).

Report: Fished rom 4:30 pm till 8:30 pm. Zero bites. Oh yeah, they raised the ee - it's now $21 or one person + boat + tow vehicle! This isn't very air to bass ishermen which are primarily catch-and-release whereas the trout ishermen take home $5 - $10 worth o meat per trip.
      City: Folsom

Tips: Wait till November beore the night ishing turns on. A guy reported catching an 8 on a Senko during the day so the day ishing must be better than the night. Also, it appears they recently began planting trout. This may have drastically aected the bass' appetite, especially i the planted trout size includes some 7" sized ish.

Report: What a difference a day (or night) makes!!! I guided a father-son team that I had previously taken this spring for some great Oroville trips. Unfortunately, a strong delta wind made our Thursday trip pretty miserable at night - cool and windy. We started about 5:30 PM out of Markley and caught 3 before dark. I did catch one nice spot, about 2 1/2 pounds on topwater and the son caught 2 smallies - one about 2 1/4 on Magic worms. The topwater bite that I wanted so badly for them to experience didn't happen. Luckly - we were going to fish Friday too!!!! After dark, for the second trip in a row, the bite was dead at night. All the fish are suspended in the bait. In desperation, I tried one of my Amador tricks on a point in the narrows. I threw a one ounce Cordell Spot to the point - ripped it once and stuck an 18 1/2 inch spotted bass - a little over 2 1/2 pounds. Imagine that - on the first cast and first rip!!! Would it happen again? Not a chance. No quanity on this trip but great quality. I told them I thought the weather and the fishing would be better on Friday (I really did believe it!) and I was right on both fronts. We started about 4:30 PM and threw Chug Bug topwater lures in shadows. We caught a few. What happened the next hour was a dream come true. We found a cove behind Goat Island that was full of shad - herding in by largemouth!! My clients were so excited that they missed several good fish, but we did land many good quality largemouth from 1 3/4 to 3 1/4 pounds - with a 2 pound 6 ounce smallmouth thrown in for good measure. We wound up with 9 or 10 in the boat averaging a little over 2 1/2 pounds. The lake was calm, the sunset was beautiful, and no bass boats in sight. It just doesn't get any better. We even caught a few at night, with the son again taking big fish honors. I had him fishing my Berryessa special - a 7" black Berkley Power Worm. We were throwing to the shore in whatever shadows we could find - and that's where the fish were. About midnight, just before we quit, I saw his line move to the right in the black light and the fight was on! She was skinny, but a largemouth at 4 pounds 5 ounces is good anytime at Berryessa. Our five fish limit was an ounce or two over 12 1/2 pounds. Love those two day adventures - one of them has to pay off!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Timing is everything as I just told you, but the topwater bite is on - if you can find the bait and feeding bass. The lake should turn over soon. I was excited to see so many quality largemouth in one place. Most of the bigger bass were over a hump in the cove that was about 17 feet deep, with deep water nearby. That is exciting stuff!! These larger bass would hit when the Chug Bug was at rest. It was sort-of: blurp-blurp-blurp - pause - WHAM!! They didn't blow up on the bugs much, just sucked them under. We didn't try other areas - we hit the pot of gold and we wern't leavin'!! I finally got my first night jig fish - a terrific hit - but the only jig bite! The jig bite will get better as the water cools (I hope)!

      Water Temp: 64-65

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Another tough day on the Delta. My partner and I ended up with eight or nine keepers. Our best seven ish weighed in about 13 1/2 lbs. Big ish was 5lbs., everything else was about a 1 1/2 to 1 3/4lbs. Crankbaits and buzzbaits were the only baits that put ish in the boat. Weather was nice, oggy in the morning but warmed up to about 75 or so. Stripers were schooling, through rattle traps and boated about 10 to 15 but all were small ish.
      City: Modesto

Tips: Crankbaits and Buzzbaits have been consistent over the last month or so. Try and cover as much water as possible, ish have been spread out.

      Water Temp: 64

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Put together a nice day on a nice day with a partner in a club tournament. 12 ish approximately including a couple largemouth. Best 5 going 13.11lbs. We went bananas- more on that in a minute. Seasons past I have not ished this lake much during this time o year, but conditions coincided with the way I like to ish on this day. An early reaction bite delivered 3 strikes on blades and my partner got a rip ish. We stayed with reaction too long however, and we had only 3 in the tank by 11. We had been mixing in the worms or a while, but we were not on the best locations or sotplastics. We moved up north where the water had more stain. The boat traic was heavy and the lake is narrow enough to get muddy along the shore. I'd been waiting a week to ish this area. The obvious rocks recieve too much pressure, but going down the bank we got a 3lb largemouth and we culled a ew smaller ish by 2pm. My partner leaned on me to return to our irst spot on the main lake or a ew last minute casts. He nailed a 3lb spot there in the morning and believed it had to hold more ish. The lake has dropped over a oot and a hal in a week and I thought the area was now just a morning eeding location. I swung a worm out to the deepest water there- it's about 12 eet. My line began to move o as soon as the bait reached the bottom. We had less than 10 minutes to go and my partner nets another spot pushing 3lbs. Good call Kevin. We missed the win by .8, and third came in with only 10lbs and change. Results irst, meaningless banter second. Some o my club buddies carry some strong duct tape. Just could not remove all the bananas strapped everywhere on my rig. Every hatch too. Reach or a sotplastic- banana! I told my partner we were now team Chiquita, and we ish through the ruit. He attached two big treble hooks to a banana and we came in with a big yellow jerk bait hanging o his rod tip. My two best buddies got out Saturday and they said they hooked up aterward at the launch. They should have collaborated on the ishing. Blademan reminds me there are lots o pranksters in the club and Wildman asked me i I checked the livewell- another banana, what a suprise. With 13lbs, I ound the taste o those bananas to be quite delicious. Couldn't tell you about the taste o crow.

Tips: Fish are deep and shallow and scattered. It will be like this until turnover.

Report: Decided to head out to Oroville yesterday (Sunday 10/20), but orgot to check to see i Bidwell would be open. Luckily it was, although it was quite a jolt when your trailer alls o the end o the ramp. I thought to mysel, this can't be good. Turns out they were closing the ramp as I was leaving later in the day. I have just started ishing Oroville in the last couple o months (just a ew trips). And each time I have gone out, I have gotten onto a completely dierent bite. I think rom now on I will start o doing the exact opposite o what worked last time, and I will get on ish quicker. Last time I couldn't buy a bite on rocks, but ended up picking up about 20 in the wood. So we get there about a hal an hour beore sun-up and head strait or the wood and try a number o things without a single bite. So then we say, well we have got nothing to lose, let's venture up the north ork and check it out since we have never gone up there beore. Fished or another hour or so without so much as a tap! We were about two and a hal hours into the day thinking this is really going to suck getting skunked on a lake where limits are the rule. Then they turned on and we caught a ew ish on every rocky point that we stopped at rom the north ork all the way down to the main body. We ended up getting 37 ish over the next ew hours. Most o the ish were in the slot as to be expected. But we caught enough over the slot to ill a respectable limit. Caught 1 largemouth, 5 smallmouths, the rest spots.
      City: Roseville

Tips: Sleep In!!! The only bite we got irst thing in the morning was rostbite. Once the air warmed up, so did the ish! We caught every single ish dropshotting. But we weren't just camping over points and humps. We were casting to shore and working it rom the shoreline, down to about 25 eet. A ew ish were right on the bank, including two o the nice ones, but the magic depth seemed to be 10-20t.

Report: I went out midday Sunday to the Quarrys. I saw some people measuring one o the banks. So I went over and talked to them, and met Mike Riehl and Donald Osborne. These guys are working hard to get the structure program o the ground. I think this is a great program. It will help improve our ishery. I am going to be volunteering and rounding up a ew other guys to help January 11th. I also would like to thank the parks department, the water district, Pete Alexander and any others who have taken the time to make this possible. Thank you. JC

Report: Just ished the Anglers Choice Regionals. We caught ish on jigs, drop shot, split shot and C-rig. We heard bigger ish were shallow but couldn't ind any. Some claimed to catch jig ish deep. We caught most o our ish or 5 days ( over 180 ) in 35 to 100 oot o water. Mostly 45 to 54 eet. Points, humps and rock piles. 7 to 9 pounds in ive ish each day. Pond smelt everywhere.

Tips: Jigs in crawdad colors, worms in pond smelt colors. Carolina rigs in watermelon baby brush hogs or lizards.

Report: Fished Hook Tournament on Sunday. Very tought bite out there. Many guys did well or themselves, while many others bombed out bad. We started throwing cranks and buzzing right out o the launch due to the dense og. Finally got moving at about 9am when the og started to burn o. Didn't get a ish in the boat until 11! Started loating senkos in 6-15 eet o water, getting 2 more keepers and a lot o 11-12 inch ish (grrrr). Landed one more on a crank on the rocks to bring our total to 4 ish that weighed in at 6.09 pounds. Not a good day or us or many people. Looks like the jig bite won the tourney, not a surprise though.
      City: Vacaville

Tips: Throw cranks, buzzers, and blades to get ish. Throw jigs to get big ish.

Report: Foggy and cold in the morning with a moderate wind rom the south. Couldn't get nothing on topwater. Fished the weed lats in the south end and picked up one on a spinnerbait. Tried a luke in the weeds and missed one. Moved north and crainked the rock walls but had no luck. Found an isolated clump o weeds in a small cove, lipped a brown jig and hooked up with one about 1 1/2 pounds. Switched o between zippers and jigs. Jigs were the only thing to produce. Brown jigs all day, just changed the trailer to make things interesting. 5 ish total, biggest was 2 1/2 pounds all other were between 1 & 1 1/2 pounds.
