Don Pedro Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: On the lake at 0715AM. Tried top water around wood with no luck. Saw some schooling top water action but they were not interested in Pop R, senko, skitter pop or drop shot. Moved to a lat that bordered a deep water drop. The bass were stacked up on the drop. Picked up 8 very nice ish in about an hour. The biggest was the one I never got to the surace. Ater a long ight and taking some line I could not wear him out or get him close enough to the surace to see the ish beore it came unbuttoned (8lb test). Got most o the ish on drop shot with one on carolina rig and two on TX rigged worm. Fun time. I normally don't do well on this lake or some reason. Bite was over by 10:00 AM.
City: Foster CityTips: Sot plastics on steep drops. Drag it rom shallow to deep and they will hit on the break line rom 10-22 t. Only tried sot plastics. Cranks may have worked but I stayed with my conidence baits that were catching ish.

Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Have not seen a posting or this lake in a long time. Tried it today or the irst time in 6 mo and igured out why no postings. The lake is in poor shape. Low water, overgrown with weed mats and the skiers are still out in ull orce. Fished rom 0930 to 2:30 the worse time o the day. Caught 6 bass. All small. No pattern. Caught 2 on drop shot, 2 carolina rigged brush hog, and 2 senko ish. All were caught along the weed line. Jigs didn't work nor did tubes.
City: Foster CityTips: I don't recommend ishing this lake until conditions improve. I Calero is your only option, go early or late and during the week. Fish the weed line with whatever you have in the box that you have some conidence in. Lots o suspended ish in open water eeding on balls o bait ish. Could not get them to bite however.

Report: Launched out o Orwood at 7am. Fished sloughs up through sand mound almost to Franks. Threw red cranks and black buzzers or about two hours, taking two dinks and one about 2 lbs. Didn't get a ish or 4 hours ater that. Landed one dink on a chartruese DEEP diving crankbait in 17 eet o water, and another dink on a rock point loating a 4" purple senko is 10 eet o water. Tough, tough day out there, almost makes we want to hit the stripers. I'll be out again tomorrow to report back.
City: VacavilleTips: The ish are very scattered. Focus on points and inlets, wether rock or tule. Let your senkos sit or up to two, three minutes beore getting hit.

Water Temp: 70ish
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: 2 ish is what I told a couple club buddies that ran me down above the narrows a little ater noon. A 2lb, and a 3 that stuck a blade 3 times until I got a good set. Never seen such a persistent largemouth. Tough morning, then it seemed like I ran amuck ater that- kinda like the entire week. Got a 6lb 7oz largemouth on a Senko in the south Tuesday. That was the kicker o that day's bag. Then took the back seat at Clearlake Thursday and caught several, although my partner got all the ish over 3lbs. Once I arrived up north on this day it looked like the rocks in this area sit in water that's now too shallow. Darterheads took a ew keepers, and I handed the rod to my son who at age 5, likes to play them, but has reached the age where it's not the same i he didn't get the bite himsel. Then I moved to deeper water and slowed the presentation. My plan was to be in by the start o the Giants game, but then the un began. Another 7 or 8 with 3 over 2lbs in the next two hours. It's all good except my buddies told me about the boat that had at least 15lbs out here today. Maybe he can post.
City: El Dorado HillsTips: Cooler temperatures last couple days- deeper and slower

Water Temp: 77
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: What a dierence a ew days make. The Santa Clara Bass Busters had tournament on ths lake October 12. No limits were caught rom sae light to 4 PM...and it was a team ormat! The winner had one ish! All boats weighed ish but it was either one or two. Oxblood worms still did work but too many little ones. Dropshotting the trees was marginal. Better be more than 20 eet down though. Slitshotting or drop shotting on open banks was only a little better. There was a slight topwater bite on spooks in the morning with a couple ish caught. There was a moderate westerly wind in the morning that settled down to a lat calm bluebird day. Ski traic was light. Overall a nice day except or the poor ishing.
City: BelmontTips: Perhaps when the water cools and mirks up a bit the ish will go again.

Water Temp: cool
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit Sonoma with the little woman or my 33rd birthday Thrus night thru Sat night. Camped at Thumb...was very, very quiet until Sat aternoon. No one was on that arm until Saturday...pure ishing bliss...plus the little lady got naked or swimming! Fishing was interesting...and majorly dierent than any other Sonoma trip I've done...ALL SMALLMOUTH ACTION.Friday hit 4 smallies, all about 1-2 lbs, and all nice ighters or their size. Saturday got me 2 more, plus saw 2-3 steelhead running the channel into Skunk, and many rainbows(small). No luck trolling Needleish, KwickSilvers, and Blue Fox lures. For the Smallies I threw grubs, senkos, dropshot and lipped. Not much on that selection(blue, green senkos 4" and green w/ red lake twin tailed grubs dropped and darterheads). The best lure ALL WEEKEND was...well...I have to save that one. Keep yer worms, grubs, spinners, and spoons in the tackle box boys and think rattle-traps.Also, i you are thinking about camping in October, think WARM equipment. The days are beautiul, but the nights cool WAY down with that Lake Sonoma wind. I brought my mountianeering 4 season GeoDome tent, 30deg bags, and leese and was comortable. Good luck!
City: Santa RosaTips: Diving, lipped rattle-traps. Can't tell you the make or color since I'm going back next week!

Chabot Lake

Water Temp: warm
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I went out on tuesday(10-8)rom 5pm until dark. The water looked pretty murky and the warm weather caused the surace temperature to me pretty warm. I started out around the dam area using plastics and worked my way to coots landing, ishing any spot that looked ishy. I caught a 10 incher in dense weed cover(the cove to the let o the coots landing doc) using a purple worm with brass and glass. I then headed back in the direction I came, ishing the same spots I had already ished, only this time with a popper (since the sun was setting). On my irst cast around the doc at alder pt., I caught and released a 19 inch bass, weighed approximately 4lbs. Two casts later in the same spot I caught a 12 incher. 3 bass in 2 1/2 hours at chabot. Although two were small, it suprised the hell out o me. I don't expect to catch quantity at chabot, but I have seen many quality ish. Although chabot doesn't really have any cover besides a ew docks, the vegetation has made or some good hiding grounds. I've been targeting the weedlines that descend into about 10-20 eet o water. I headed back on thursday ished 1-5 in pretty much the same holes. The wind and the cold weather shut the bass o compared to the hot stagnent weather on tuesday. No bites in 4 hours.
City: san leandroTips: With the recent trout plants throw out castaics.

Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Windy as hell. We didn't get our lines wet until around 3pm or so. We were fishing based on our moon calendar. We were actually fishing Putah Creek, about 3 miles east of Winters, a secret spot of ours on a friend's private property. This creek holds far more largemouth than people might think, and we're talking lunkers. What was beautiful about today was that you could plainly see the fish. We saw 6 holding in one area, with one I'd say creeping around the 7 pound mark easily. We tried drop-shotting for a while with no success. We had about 8 inches between the weight and the soft plastic. We used black Renegade paddletails. The fish would inspect, just about take it, but bail out at the last minute. There was an area of cover about 20 yards downstream that I knew was holding fish, but the area was not accessable due to large amounts of poison oak which is easy to idenify this time of year with an almost flouresent pink color. I tried my best to cast in this area from where I was at with a buzzbait, mainly to locate the fish. It wasn't until my 8th cast I brought in about a 3 lber! We continued to cast in this area with topwaters and caught 7 bass within about 2 hours, definately enough to keep things interesting.
City: DixonTips: Putah creek is a great place for bass if you just want to go out for a couple hours and you don't feel like taking the boat out. Just keep a good eye out for the dreaded poison oak, and wear plenty of "Off!" for the ticks. Also, most of the creek is on private propery, so make sure you're not trespassing!

Report: Launched out o Ladd's beore sunrise and didn't put a ish in the boat until 9:30 (Lost a couple pitching Senko's - I keep orgetting to set the hook). Biggest ive wieghing in about 8 1/2 lbs. Not a great day but I got my limit and it looks like things might be turning back on. I have heard the last couple o days have been pretty rough.
