Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched out o Orwood at 5:00 AM with Tourney partner preishing or Western Bass on August 3rd. Fished an area I've been saving in the middle Delta or him and we hit some quality ish...up to 4.2 lbs on topwater (Frogs and PoPr)...The winds hampered us a great deal so we went to another area where I used Cranks/Spinnerbait and he used Senko's and Brush Hogs...Caught too many ish to count...Most o the ish were in the 1-2lb class...Multiple dual hookups and a couple triple hook ups with his son using brush hogs...Which leaves credence to the idea that once you ind ish don't leave...A large number o yearlings in the mix...All in all a good day that gave us conidence we can ind a quality 14-16lb limit at least.
      City: Discovery Bay

Tips: Topwater in AM and Senko's will always work this time o year. Best tide is outgoing rom high to low or me right now. On missed blow ups throw a bulky bait right behind it and 9 out o 10 times you'll get hammered. Stay sae and enjoy the waterways. Rock, current, weedline, or lot's o green cheese are sae bets to a un day...

      Water Temp: 78

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: In the two weeks since I have been to Amador, things have really changed! The water has cleared up a lot and many o the weed mats that had ormed have broken up, maybe 'cause the water has dropped 2 eet. Anyway, tried a Snagproo rog or an hour beore meeting my client and had 2 air blowups and then had a 7 or so pounder leap out o the water ater the rog, but missed! What a kick to see, though!!! My client and I started ishing about 6 PM (Thurs) and ound ishing very slow. It didn't surprise me because the terriic Sierra thunderstorm activity was spilling over into the oothills and I have always ound that weather pattern to slow the bite. About 9 PM I was ishing a brown/orange Weapon jig in the main body and elt something "chewing" on my jig - NO bite! I set anyway and was rewarded with a 6-12 bass - somewhat skinny but a strong ighter. Ater dark we couldn't get much going - both o us were working worms. I was ishing a point in Jackson creek when I again elt a little pressure on my black/chartreuse 10 inch Power Worm. I set with all the orce I could, knowing my 30# Fireline could take it. One o the greatest eeling in bass ishing is when you do that and NOTHING MOVES - at least i it is not a snag! Finally she bucked her head and the ight was on. A beautiul, at bass showed up in the net, all 8 lbs 11 oz o her! The next bass on the 10 inch worm was a 10 inch bass!! Talk about variety! I managed another 3 pounder near the dam and that was it! My client had three bites but wasn't able to put one in the boat. However, he was very excited to learn so much about the lake and see how these bass are caught. It really was slow, but I guess one would have to say that it was a pretty good "slow night"! Three bass or 18 1/2 pounds is a good average.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Some o the bigger bass hanging around shallow water have now seemed to have moved to deeper water - probably as a result o the major heat wave o last week. The two big bass were about 20 eet deep. Because o the rontal movement, there were ew eeding bass on the surace and the shad were deeper. I think the summer pattern has begun. Good luck. It is nice to know the they will still take a jig, although not with much enthusiasm.

Report: I took a ather and two sons to Oroville Wed or a day trip. Since they had to drive over rom Clear Lake, we didn't get on the water until about 7:30 AM. We started up the north ork and ished some walls and lats on the east side. I was thrilled when dad hooked the irst ish on a 6" Witches T Magic worm and it was a good one. I had told them how good the spots ight. It turned out to be 17 1/2 inches and weighed a little over 2 1/2 lbs. Good start. We used that color and morning dawn, but the darker color seemed to work better because o the algae bloom that day - the water wasn't clear. We ished a ew bushes in the back o a cove and he throws the worm in about 4 eet o water and gets bit! It was a 15 1/2 inch largemouth. Actually the rest o our bass were quite small with several under the slot. We did have another largemouth and spot in the slot. Wednesday was the coolest day (nice or ishing), but very windy by noon. Had to ish in Potters and didn't even get bit. The ish really shut o in the aternoon. At least everyone caught several ish which was a nice change rom Clear Lake!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: We didn't try a lot o other baits and these clients were doing well with worms, so we stuck with them. Obviously we missed the early morning bite which was probably better. In spite o the airly green water, the bass were 20 to 30 eet deep and more on walls than points.

Report: out with the Cottonwood Bass Team or a night tournament, in at Packers with the lake down past 45 eet, air temp 106 degrees at 5 pm, poor Ryan Pearson was unortunate enough to draw me as his boater, spent the evening dealing with dinks as did most everybody else withe the exception o Je Pyles who won the event and John Coyle who managed a 7.40 largemouth or the big ish prize. There were a number o short limits, me and Ryan included but I did manage to put a 2.41 smallmouth in the boat and got the smallmouth pot, everybody had trouble inding ish and when they did, they were usually small, no breeze to speak o and the lake is a mess. Since then I have been out once or more dinks in the Jones Valley with most coming on rip and topwater baits very early. Drop shotting the MGM #109 3 inch sluggo and smaller baits have been productive including the #127 in a 4 inch. Things are very slow, heavy boat traic and we are nearing 50 t down which will put the ramp at bailey cove out o the water by the 27th.

Report: Fished the annual Basin Bassmasters tourney on 7-19. Overall a tough night. We started at 7pm on Fri. and weighed in at 7am on Sat. There was a total o 12 teams and only 2 limkits were weighed in the irst hal and 0 limits weighed in the 2nd hal. I lucked out and got 8.9 on a topwater and that with a small earlier limit was good enough or my partner John Kort and I to win the tourney with 15 1/2 pounds or so. There was also an 8.2 weighed in the second hal that ell or a 10in. PW. As you can see by the previous report rom Larry Hemphill, it is tough out there with the alling water and hot temps.
      City: Roseville

Tips: Tough to say. We caught most o early ish on topwater, but they were pretty small. We also got some ish on darter heads in 20 t o water. We tried shallow and deep during the night, but only got the one big ish on top. We did have to more blow ups on top water right beore day light that didn't hook up, but they were huge blow that sounded like the same size ish I had caught earlier. Also, caught some nice catish on blades and cranks. Even though it was slow, it was a beautiul night or ishing.

Tips: Main lake points in summer. with or without rocks. Bring lots o gear or the breakos that come rom ishing around submerged stumps.

Report: Spent the last week at tulloch and was airly impressed with the ishing. Past years were never very succesul. Despite the 100 degree weather and ishing in the heat o the aternoon we caught some nice small mouth bass. we never caught a whole bunch but ususally about 5 or 6 in a ew hours or so, some o our biggest topped out around three pounds. We used live crawlers and when we ran out switched to 4 inch dark blue worms. Both worked well but we caugh more bluegill with the crawlers. Those ish seemed to bite almost as hard as the bass and also cost us a bunch o worms but it was a good time. we also saw some huge carp so i there are any bow isherman here have at it.
      City: Visalia

Tips: we ished near shore letting the worms sit in about 8 eet o water our biggest ish came in about 20 eet so theyre all over.

Report: launched out o holland @0600 ished the buzzer right o and picked up a 1 pounder on the second cast. ished a while without any other blowups. threw on the senko and lipped some tule burms with some slight current and picked up several smaller ish most under 1 pound ( starting to think i'm the best small bass isherman on the river, havent caught a decent ish in the last 2 trips)switched o between a blade and the senko throughout the day. larger ish tended to come on the blade with one toad that came unbuttoned ater 2 jumps he didn't exactly come unbuttoned he pulled so hard he broke the wire my titanium spinnerbait (TOAD) oh well you win some you loose some. o the water at 1240 all in all about 15-17 to the boat, not wide open but lot o un
