Report: I had the day o so I igured I'd head up to Amador ater I got my lazy butt out o bed. I got there around 12 and basically had the lake to mysel except or 2 other bass isherman and some shore trout isherman. I had to get the irst ish out o the way so I ran to a point in Mtn. Springs and started dropshotting. First ish came in 5 minutes but only about 12 inches. Ater than I started throwing black and red jigs. I got 4 more on those all in Mtn. Springs and also got a 3 lb Trout on a jig. I ended up with 14 to 2.5 lbs. and a 3lb. Trout. All o the other bass were caught dropshotting in about 25-35' o water. It didn't seem to matter what color o the worm or where I was. The shad were all over the place and wherever they were, thats where the ish were.

Report: We were there the same night as Rick's previous report (Wed) and the results were similiar - a little better, but not much. Rick Tietz and I started ishing about 1 pm and I soon hooked the biggest ish o the trip - maybe 4 or 5 pounds on a Weapon Jig - but somehow lost it - ugh!! We only caught 3 beore dark up to 2 1/4 pounds on jigs - thought we had a sandwich at the coee shop. The spoon bite wasn't even happening - two hits - that was it. Ater dark I didn't get bit but Rick landed 5 bass on an 11" Gator Tail worm. The only ones that would bite were shallow. I worked a big jig most o the evening - but no takers. I really can't remember the last time I havn't been bit at night at Amador, but I guess I won't have that problem now, har! As the previous report mentioned, weather conditions were ok, but a north wind blew high og over the lake during the day and it didn't have a chance to warm up. At night, a south wind came up and blew the og north. Stu like that can aect a good bite. There is always next time!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: We saw ish as deep as 110 eet - wow!! The deep ish just wern't active day or night. Bass are still working the shad in 60 eet o water. Don't give up the worm bite just yet. I'm sure I could have drop-shotted a ew, but I have been doing too much o that at Collins Lake lately! Need a change!!

Report: Well, we should post both good and BAD reports here right? I've wanted to go night ishing in December or severalyears and inally the weather worked out. Everything was perect, well, almost. Great moon phase, no og, warm air mass, the winds died down, a nice blanket o clouds sotened the moonlight (like the bass love, right?) and all the critters were active (owls hooting, ish jumping) except or maybe the bass. Fished rom 2:30 pm till 9:30 pm. Threw deep diving crankbaits, swimbaits, jigs, and 12" power worms. Got a ew bites, missed one good one, broke jig o on a hookset (on the cast beore I was thinking, my line is nicked but - hey it's 20 lb test XT so why bother...) inally caught a 12 incher on a 12 inch power worm (black). That's it. Lake is still very clear and about 18 eet rom ull. All bites came rom about 25' - 35' near deep water. Three rom underwater humps, the others rom the main body. Only one worm bite, all others (5?) on the black/chartreuse jig.
    City: Folsom

Tips: Use a big black jig with a Yamamoto 5" smoke silver lake grub doused with Smelly Jelly and/or Kick'n Bass and put it down around 25+ eet where you see ish on your meter and then have patience and lots o it. Better yet, ind balls o bait and use spoons - my electronics aren't working well enough to ind bait these days.

I got a couple bigger ish drop shotting shallower (12-20') o water. Biggest was at 3 pounds. Couldn't buy a bite on a jig today...all drop shot ish.

    Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I guided Friday and Saturday day trips and ound the ishing to be air at best. Friday was ok with the usual all problem - ish jumping shad all over but not hitting topwater lures as in the summer. They are chasing shad to the surace and then going right back down to ind another bunch. We got one on a topwater and one or two on grubs thrown to the suracing bass. I tried a little spooning with a Duh! spoon and did manage a 2 1/4, 3 1/2, and a near 4 pounder - landed in open water at about 40 eet. We drop-shotted a ew and wound up with 7 or 8 bass, about a 14 lb limit. I ished the evening some and a little while at night and did very poorly. I talked to a riend that ished Sat night and he did poorly too. The Saturday trip was very slow, cool breeze, and very inactive ish. Not a touch on a spoon or a jig. My client did learn to drop-shot and caught 3 or 4, though they were not too big. Two o three other bass guys out there were rustrated too, could not get the eed ish on top to hit anything. The ones that were caught were small. Better ishing is around the corner - I think - I hope!!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Two or three weeks ago the ishing was good when the shad bite started and some big bass were caught. Last week there were some good bass caught in my boat to nearly 4 pounds. This week the eeding ish were really small. Did not hear many good ish boiling. The night bite may be good ater 1 or 2 in the morning but with day trips, I didn't stay up late enough to see. Once the shad surace bite slows with cooler water, the night bite will probably pick up again - it usually does.

Report: Started at around 7am in the launch ramp cove, partner caught irst ish on a Sammy we both proceeded to catch a ew on topwater and lukes. Ran back to Jacksons to look or some bigger ish but nobody was home. Shad were busting all over the lake and like Larry said it's tough to get these ish to hit anything else. So we decided to pick up the dropshot rigs and continued to catch ish with the largest going around 2 pounds between the two o us we probably caught around 20 ish mostly dropshotting the outside weedline. Pulled out at around 1pm.
    City: Carson city, NV

Tips: Bass are all getting ull on shad. We threw jigs, crankbaits and towards the end o the day tried senkos with no luck. Dropshot caught most o the ish with a ew caught on topwater in the morning. Bring on the Fall weather!

    Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I ished part o two nights and part o the in between day and ound the bite to be very slow, especially at night. The irst night I caught only one, about 3 3/4 pounds on a 10" Power Worm. The next morning I only tried or big ish with big baits and struck out. No takers. I did catch one or two on topwater and should have given up on the big ish sooner and had some un. The bass were all over chasing shad. The day bite was tough until about 6 pm when a riend joined me and we caught 3 beore dark. He threw a 6" weightless Yamamoto grub to a rising bass and she took it right away - she was a little over 3 1/2 pounds. I got a 3 on a Devil's Horse and another under three. Ater dark we ished or awhile and I got a nice 2 1/2 on a black crankbait. The worm bite was nearly dead - we did miss a ew. I hope this is the calm beore the storm!!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: When Amador bass are eeding on shad in September - they arn't interested in too much else. The night bite is oten slow or about a month. I had heard the ishing was good last week. I don't like to hear that because it usually means it will change or the worse when I get there!!

Report: Maybe ater this report, Ken will giving me a call, har!! Anyway, my best ishing buddy Rick Tietz and I teamed up to try our usual assault on Lake Amador - hoping or some quality bass in spite o a 10 degree drop in temp rom the day beore. When we started at 5 pm the delta breeze was howling but we ound that we could still ish deep structure. We caught six bass beore dark and none were under 3 pounds. Rick caught the biggest on an 11 inch Gator tail - a 5 1/2 pounder. I was using brown/orange Weapon jigs with a Madman craw trailer. They were really on a good jig bite! All my 5 bass were rom 3 to nearly 4 pounds. Unusual not to catch a small bass or two even when trying or larger ones. The bass were not active on the surace because o the wind so we didn't try topwater. Ater dark it really was slow. Rick got a small one on a topwater lure and I cranked a 4 pound catish and a keeper bass. About 1:30 am, I was using the new Berkely "Gulp" Turtle Back 10" worm (black) that I had so much success with last week at Clear Lake. Talk about a gulp - this bass nailed it hard in 30 eet o water! I set and it pulled out my "locked" drag with my 30# test Fireline. I told Rick not to worry about the net - it HAD to be a catish. Luckly he was ready anyway as 7 pounds o bass hit the net! Wow, that was worth the drive!! Things started picking up as the night got cooler and damp. Usually the ish shut o in those conditions. We caught several more towards dawn with Rick getting his big one o the night at 6 1/2 pounds. Our good eeling about the trip went sour or awhile as Rick hooked a monster dragging the 11" worm in the submerged timber. He brought a 10 to 12 pound bass near the boat but lost it. What a bummer!!! We ished the irst hour o light which this time did not produce much. I tried some topwater but the bass were chasing shad up rom deep water and would go right back down and so, were not willing to hit a topwater lure. We wound up with 17 bass and one catish. We had a good limit in spite o losing the monster - 5 bass or 26 1/4 pounds - a good night at my avorite lake!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Rick and I were quite concerned about three bass that appeared to have some kind o problem with one side o their body near the tail. Scales were coming o and their body had some bloody areas. We had never seen that beore. Hope it is nothing serious. We spent hal o our time casting and the other hal dragging in deep water. We ound most o the quality ish below 25 eet, away rom the weeds, on various o-shore structure that has some rock and wood. It takes lots o years to learn these areas and they sometimes pay o in tough conditions. The worms seemed to work better at night and the jigs were best during daylight. Lots o Smelly Jelly (crawish salt) seems to help. We noticed that when we worked a point rom a dierent direction the bite was better - probably because o wind currents.

Report: Started ishing about 7:30pm without many takers. Decided to have dinner and try when the moon came out. Andrew caught a nice 2 pounder on a shad spinner bait up in Jackson around 11:30pm. ater that is was quiet until I hooked up with a nice bass near the dam on the boat dock end. Unortunatly I did not remove the clear plastic protector rom a brand new spinner bait rom Bass Pro Shops and at the boat he got o. Andrew swears it was the 6 pounder I have been looking or to break the 5 pound barrier I have been in. Monday morning we ished again with no luck, lots o ish near the dam busting the surace ater shad, but no takers or anything we tried. Maybe its time to call Larry or a trip and learn how to ish this lake!!
