Report: SORRY THE REPORTS A LITTLE LATE(FISHING). HIT THE WATER ABOUT 10PM OR SO, FISHED THE DAM, BOUY SIDE WHEN MY BUDDY CAUGHT A FISH ON HIS FIRST CAST. BAAAAD LUCK! RAN INTO GILL, HE SAID THE FISHING HAD BEEN SLOW BUT TO STICK IT OUT, SO WE DID. DIDN,T CATCH ANOTHER FISH FOR THREE HOURS OR SO ,FEELING A LITTLE TIRED AND FRUSTRATED WENT UP TO JACKSON TO TRY AND CATCH SOME WISKERS BUT FAILED AT THAT TOO! SUN WAS COMING UP SO WE FISHED MOUNTAIN SPRINGS. MY BUDDY CAUGHT A BUZZ BAIT FISH GOOD FOR 2IBS. WENT BACK TO THE DAM AND FISHED THE BOUY SIDE AGAIN! AND TO MY SURPRISE I STUCK A 6.2IBS ON A 10IN. POWER WORM. I PROCEEDED TO THROW A BIG BLADE 2OZ WITH A GIANT TORRO TUBE FOR A TRAILER,(WHICH WAS A GOOD CHOICE)WHEN A BIG FISH HIT AS SOON AS MY LURE HIT THE WATER,IT PEELED LINE SO FAST THAT I COULDN'T TURN HER AND SHE CAME UNBUTTONED. BUT ON THE NEXT CAST I CAUGHT HER TWIN SISTER RIGHT AT THE BOAT, SHE WENT 8.4, A GOOD ENDING TO A SLOW NIGHT.
    City: SAC

Tips: IF YOUR GONNA GO NIGHT FISHING STICK IT OUT TILL THE MORNING FOR THE PRIME BIG BASS PERIOD, IT ONLY LAST A SHORT PERIOD (30MIN. TO AN HOUR)YOU CAN REALLY SCORE BIG.

    Water Temp: 81

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Hit the lake at 7:30 pm with a good riend and ished until 2:30 am. Fishing was very slow - we got about 7 ish, all about 2 lbs. and under. My riend got one big bite and missed it. Even though the day was pretty windy with the Delta breeze, ater 9 pm it almost dead calm. We igured the cooler weather and nights without cloud cover had a lot to do with the poor ishing. It should pick up Saturday when the warming trend inally arrives. There was no topwater bite. The best (still pretty lousy) action was when the moon set around 2 am when we picked up a ew 1-2 pounders on crankbaits and jigs.
    City: Folsom

Tips: Crankbaits, worms and jigs. Fish were pretty deep except or the crankbait ish.

Report: Work was lousy so decided to make up or it by going night ishing. Fished rom 6 pm till 11 pm. Only picked up two dinks or a total o maybe 1.3 pounds. Fishing was dead. Tried topwater, worms, jigs, crankbaits and blads. I've experienced this same situation beore last year and was rewarded at 3 am by an 8 last year. Couldn't stay out so late this time.
    City: Folsom

Tips: I don't know why the ishing was so bad. Perhaps because no moon in summer, or at least during a hot spell, means lousy ishing. Who knows. Try the underwater humps at 3 am - 5 am.

Report: Fished 7 pm thru 3 am. Lots o topwater action but only one hit - a 2+ on a spook. Next ish came at dusk o Mountain Spring on a crankbait, about a 3.5. Next three ish came on junebug power hogs. Last ish, a catish, was on the power hog. Last three ish were about 1.5 - 2.5 - nothing to write home about. No big ish were out - all missed bites were tail biters and so were likely small. All ish were shallow.
    City: Folsom

Tips: Give the topwater a try in Rock Creek during the evening.

Bite was slower than my previous trips but the highlight o the day came when I elt a tick on my line and set the hook on a quality ish o about 6-7 pounds on a baby brush hog. Between the two o us, we caught and released about 8 bass averaging 1-2 pounds.
    City: Sacramento, CA

Tips: Points, points, points. Slow crawl and bump your plastics. Again, set the hook ast because these ish are hungry!!!

Report: I took two ellas this week anxious to learn more about bass ishing - and the bass taught them a lot!! These guys were into saltwater ishing, so a Snag Proo rog or one and a Senko or the other was QUITE a change or them!! We started about 6 pm on Tuesday evening. Ater catching a 2 1/4 on a green rog pre-ishing or them or a ew minutes, I igured we would try rogs since that one was pretty aggressive. I showed the ellow next to me how to ish a white rog and he was doing a great job o casting and working it. Ater he worked an area or awhile, I made a cast beore we let and got a 4 pounder on the same green rog. I switched him to green and soon he got a great blowup on a big ish but was probably too stunned to set the hook hard. My Senko man was hung up and as I looked back to see the problem I elt a jerk and saw that my rog that had been thrown in an open water shadow was gone. Another 3 1/2 pounder. We moved to a ew new spots and missed a ew, including a near 7 pounder that came o ater a ew seconds. That hurt! As the sun set on a perect evening weather wise, I told them we would see bass rising to eat shad. Well, we saw maybe 8 total - weird - perect weather and no eeding action. I had the Senko man try a Chug Bug in the middle o a cove, telling him i he got a hit it would be a good one. It was!!! Ater missing one, he set on either a good one or a small one with a lot o weeds. Luckly it was the irst way - 4 lbs 11 oz - his irst topwater bass. Wow! And ive minutes later, the rog man inally connects - a skinny 5 pounder - but what a blowup and ight! I always tell people that give largemouth no respect as a ighter - you ought to catch one about a month or so ater the spawn - when they are lean and mean! This ish was a prime example!! We caught a ew more topwater ish beore dark and then had some dinner. And now or the exciting night ishing news! There isn't any!! It was dead!!! We caught some small ones up to 1 1/2 pounds only. We talked to two other boat with the same story - not much ater dark. We did wind up with 6 big ish hooked beore dark - 4 landed - with the ive biggest slightly over 20 pounds. Maybe resh water will replace some o their salty ways, har!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Actually, this was a very typical delta breeze summer evening at Amador. Most o our local lakes oer the best ishing during these cooler days in the late aternoon (warmest time o day) up to dark, and the night ishing is kind o slow. All the lakes I guide on at night seem to ollow this pattern. You will catch bass as night but they are usually small. Night ishing is always best during very hot weather.

Report: Fished Amador last night rom 10:00 pm to 6:00 am (no moon). Partner and I caught 12 ish up to 4 pounds and missed 4 top water bites and 5 or 6 hits on plastics.Best ish (4 pounds) came on a buzzbait at 2:00 am...what a thrill! Also caught ish on 7" Cuttail worms (green pumpkin, rootbeer) ished with a 1oz bullet weight pegged 5" up the line, 9L Senkos (green pumpkin, watermelon seed, and black/blue) ished wacky/weightless, jigs (black/red) dragged along drop os and Dead Ringers (black/red) ished T-rigged. Note: all productive colors were dark. Tried chartreuse, white and clear with no bites. All ish came in less than 20' with most in less than 10'. Missed top water ish between 10pm and 1am. Probably would have had better success with a slower top water bait like a Spook. But, in the pitch black, the buzzbait was much more orgiving when tossed into trees or up on the bank. Also, broke o a toad on a Senko at irst light...hit in 2' o water.
    City: Fair Oaks

Tips: When daytime high temperatures shut down the bite, switch to night ishing.

Report: I was planning to ish Amador with a riend o mine but wound up ishing solo as he didn't eel well enough to come. I ished only about 6 hours - getting some evening topwater (smaller bass up to 1 3/4 lbs) and then some night ishing When I irst started a 4 or 5 pound bass hit my spook right at the boat - but pilot error - I think I set too quick!!. The leet was out, probably because o a previous post. Probably the most boats I have seen in the dark o the moon - many let early cause the ishing wasn't that good. I did ok, catching my biggest at 4-13 right at dark on a junebug Dead Ringer worm. Ater dark I used Berkely Power worms, Camanche Jack 10" zipper worms and 11" black Gator Tails. The best bite was about 20 eet. I caught lots o bass that actually were eeding - they hit pretty hard. I don't know how many I caught, but my 5 biggest were about 15 1/2 lbs. One o my 4 pounders was so skinny that I could have put a tip on her nose and shot her as an arrow! Now that is skinny!! Nothing great to report considering the heat, but a good trip anyway.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: I did not ind many ish on points, mostly on walls and creek channels. Topwater ish were all over!

Report: Camped at Amador or three days, Monday being the best or ishing or us. The Carson Arm produced the most numbers or us, all on white spinners and crome Kastmasters. My eight year old son caught his irst bass on a crome Kastmaster, 1.6 lbs on a rock wall out o the wind in the Carson Arm. I did catch ish all over the lake as has been recorded on others previous reports. Huge thanks to "Lunker Larry" or the great tips on the phone a couple nights prior, wish I could have given more notice so we could have had a day on the lake.

There were a ew boats on the water, i you guys saw a lantern shining bright on the north shore, that was me!

Tips: Fish slow. Set the hook as soon as you eel the ish pick up the bait. These ish are hungry and wont hesitate to swallow your plastic worm whole.

My irst ish over 5lbs. It elt good to break that barrier. Finally went to a drop-shot rig and caught another 12 in the 1-2lb range. Finished just ater midnight.
    City: Folsom

Tips: Darker colors with red lake seamed to work the best on the drop shot. I'll keep the top water bait to mysel or now.

Report: I ished Amador on 5/21, i had un catching 7 bass all 1-2 lbs. Nothing big, I caught all my ish splitshotting inesse worms in the Martens magic color. I ished rom 6am to 11am. I concur with the previous anglers report about the bass being on secondary points near spawning areas. I ished the creek arms. later i tried or a big ish o some o the main lake points with a yamoto 8" grub, and an 8 " worm. I had a ish boil at my surace bait (rebel broken back-rainbow trout color). That was irst thing in morning. I have to say my bass ishing has improved this year and i have beneited rom getting tips rom John Walton at Walton's Pond in San Leandro, He always gives me tips on how to ish speciic baits, and is always willing to give advice on how to ish a certain lure, what lakes to ish at that time, where in the lake to ish. I recommend going there, as he is always riendly, and he is a big bass expert. Also i had the pleasure o ishing with Larry Hemphill (a bass guide)at Amador a couple o weeks ago. He is as advertised, when i ished with him, we had a hal hour stretch where every cast we had a bite.He truly is one o the best bass isherman around. Again i recommend hiring a guide like him, as you will learn so much in the 8 hours you ish with him.
    City: Hayward

Tips: 1-2 lb bass seem to be plentiul, use inesse techniques, in creek arms. Especially plastics such as 4' worms, brushhogs, senkos etc. Try night ishing or your trophy bass, Larry Hemphill hooked a huge bass that snapped 20 lb line, at night when i ished with him.

Report: Tried some night ishing ater the ull moon. I had a great time catching approximatly 16 bass up to 4.5 most ish were in the 1 -2 pound range. There were some beds still visible (no emales though) and the two biggest ish were males that were worn out rom some very receint activity rom working the beds. I tried to minimize any handling and ASAP put the ish right back in the water.Dark colored grubs and Senkos were the ticket or me. The points not ar rom spawn areas seemed to produce around 12-15 eet. The trout isherman were out in orce as well.
    City: Concord

Tips: Post spawn and ish slow
