Report: GOT ON THE WATER BY 6AM THROWING A DROPSHOT WITH A 4IN X-MAS TREE COLORED WORM. BETWEEN MY PARTNER AND I WE BOATED 4 FISH IN ABOUT HOUR AND HALF. THREW PIG AND JIG,TOPWATER,AND BACK TO THE DROPSHOT. NO LUCK!9:30 AM SWITCHED TO OLD RELIABLE, THE TEXAS RIG! 6INCH MARGARITA MAULER. 1ST CAST, A SHAKE OR TWO, AND THERE HE WAS3LBS+ THEN ABOUT 5 MORE FISH AT 1 TO 2LBS EACH. I HAD ONE WORM LEFT AND MY PARTNER SWITCHED TO TEXAS RIG, SO I OPENED UP A BAG OF 6INCH OXBLOOD LIGHT AND PROCEDED TO OPEN UP A CAN OF "WHOOP ASS" ON AT LEAST 15 MORE FISH FROM 2 TO 4 LBS.11AM: SOMEONE TURNED THE SWITCH OFF. NOTHINGFROM 11AM TILL 12:15 AND IT WAS TIME TO GET HOME TO THE WIVES. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THIS WAS ONE OF MY BEST DAYS AT AMADOR LAKE. FINALLY IT WAS WORTH PAYING THERE FEES.
    City: ELK GROVE

Tips: SAW SOME GUYS WORKING THE TOPWATER BUT THAT WASNT THE CASE TODAY. DROPSHOT IN ABOUT 10-20 FT OF WATER AND A 6 INCH WORM BLACK GRAPE,OXBLOOD LIGHT,AND MAYBE EVEN AARONS MAGIC. BY THE WAY, THEY WERE ZIPPER WORMS BY ROBO.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got on the lake around 8pm. No ish activity whatsoever dead! Caught rock bass? or some kind o crazy sunish slitshotting but that was it until 10pm . Caught 5lb bass on black Exude worm 10' deep on point. Moon came up around midnight and bite improved.Boated our more keepers and lost two others due to lame hooksets on black Exude 7 1/2" worms and black brush hogs between 10-2:30 am. Bite was going strong but I couldn't keep my eyes open so tied up boat and went to sleep. Awoke at 5:30 and got going again and caught 4 ish on buzzbaits beore sun was on water.I boated 9 keepers in all with the best ive around 17 lbs .What a zoo around the dam with all the trout anglers in tubes/boats. Does anyone know i the umes o powerbait attacks and kills the brain cells o unsuspecting anglers because some o these people are clueless/navigationally challenged.
    City: Pioneer

Tips: 10-15' seemed to be the depth or me at night . The weeds are everywhere so cast shallow and crawl the worm thru the weeds. The bites would come when you cleared the weeds and contacted rock. The ish would hit and and there was no doubt when you got bit. These ish don't look or act like post spawn bass . They were gorged with crawdads and everyone put up quite a battle. the buzz ish all dove into the weeds once hooked so heavy line is a must .

Report: Fished rom 7:30 pm to 5:00 am. No topwater bite. Decent worm bite started about 11 pm and kept going till I let. I got about 7-8 ish with the biggest at 6.9 pounds and missed 1 or 2 bigger ish. Overall, the ishing was good ater 11 pm.
    City: Folsom

Tips: Fish were inside and outside weed edges. Use worms with sharp head to mimimize how much grass they catch. Fish the weeds - it's a pain, but that was where most o the ish came rom (incl the 6.9). Use a no-stretch line so you can jerk your rod tip to clear the weeds o the bait during the retrieve.

Report: I I was on Survivor last Saturday, I'd go hungry and probably get voted o o the lake. Only got 3 dinks during the day in Mt. Spring. Two o them were as big as my lure(5 in. brown worm). The other was maybe a pound. At night, Skunkcity. Threw a 10 in. powerworm all night. Had to call it quits at nidnight because my partner ell asleep in the back o the boat and almost ell in. Damn! This lake has been tough lately. Oh well, it beats work anyday. At least I caught 6 Bass Ale's during the moony evening.

    Water Temp: 84-86

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Amador with Rick Tietz Thursday aternoon and night. We thought the heat (104) might get us, but we made it, and elt much better as the sun set. But the sudden hot spell did get the bass, and moved them to deeper water. What a dierence rom last Sat - there was NO topwater bite at all, and very ew ish were rising. Rick commented that it seemed like winter conditions - the bass were deep, and trout were actually rolling on the surace - we couldn't believe it. Anyway, we caught 5 beore dark on 5" #297 Senkos, but they were ew and ar between. They were solid bass - rom 1 3/4 to 2 1/2 lbs. When night ell, the bite picked up. We ound bass hitting 10" Power worms, and 8" Dead Ringer worms (junebug) on main lake points. We caught several good ish, including 2 at 4-11, and a beautiul 9 1/4 that my partner caught in 25 eet o water. She looked like she had not spawned! Impossible, right? We wound up with 13 or so, or a 23+ lb limit. Great trip during not-so-great conditions!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: When the water temp rises rom 76 to 86 degrees in 5 days, and the lake drops another oot, the bait is going to move, and so will the bass - and they did! They will eed more at night and irst light when the weather is that hot. The worm bite is really turning on now, and Senkos are working well in the evening. I the water temp cools some, as it probably did in the next ew days, the crank bite and topwater will probably turn on again.

Report: Arived at 8pm with thoughts o doing pretty well with the moon out. Turned out to be the worst trip that I've had a Amador this year. Only managed 3 keeper size ish maybe about a pound and a hal a piece. Had enough at 1:30. Maybe the day bite is better right now.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I sort o made a promise to mysel during the 28 years that I have been ishing Amador, that I would never ish there during a major holiday, 'cause I would probably be depressed when I saw so many boats on the lake at once! Well, yesterday I broke that promise when some olks wanted to be guided Saturday, 3 or a day trip, and one ella or a late-aternoon night trip. I really didn't expect a whole lot o success, except early in the morning maybe, and at night. Was I ever in or a pleasant surprise - the bass didn't know it was a holiday. They were biting!! We caught 13 on the irst trip and 18 on the second, or a total o 31 bass. I haven't done that well sometimes when I have the lake to mysel! We started on a point in Mountain Spring and the guys had a triple hook-up, using Magic worms. They lost every one, amazing!! One was pretty big. But they soon made up or that, landing several up to 3 1/4 lbs. Ater a nice breakast at the lodge, we went out again, and started ishing Senkos, which worked well right up to quiting time. About 1 pm, one o the guy landed a 3 pounder on a bubblegum Senko, and missed several others on that color. Green and chartreuse Senkos were working well also. Our 5 biggest were about 13 lbs. My evening client was pretty new to bass ishing, so we tried several techniques, until he ound something he liked. The Senkos wern't working as well later in the day. We threw rattletraps and landed three, in the Jackson creek arm. I saw a ish boil, threw a salt and pepper Senko at it, and the bass nailed it - about 2 1/2 lbs. Great un! I started throwing a Chugbug topwater lure as soon as I thought it would work, and picked up a ew in the Carson arm - one about 2 1/2 lbs. As the sun set, we made our way to the main body where we both threw topwater, and Mr. Client got the hang o it!! Ater a couple o missed ish - he landed several, including the biggest o the trip at nearly 3 lbs. The topwater bite was awesome on the Chugbugs (Tennessee Shad), not so good on buzzbaits or spooks. I think we caught around 10 on topwater. We night ished with 10" Powerworms on main lake points, and caught about 6, but only up to 2 1/2 lbs. The weather was really cooling o ater several warm nights, and I think it slowed the night bite. He was very pleased as he caught his irst worm ish, at night, no less! Needless to say, it was a long day or me, but I was very pleased, as any angler or guide is when the ishing is "better that expected"!! I would like to apologize or the guy driving a white bass boat in the late aternoon at a 60+ MPH speed. I see somebody do that during most o the trips to Amador, but why when the lake is packed with boats?
    City: Yuba City

Tips: The weed situation is out o hand, and as the lake drops, the weeds will be right on the surace. I would suggest the lightest baits you can ish, such as Senkos, weightless worms, etc. Rattletraps and topwater will be a good bet. How about rogs?

Report: Hit the water at 7pm. We got a good luke bite at dark. Ater dark caught a ew on big lizzards and dead ringers. We caught about 15 all together. All good 2+ ish. I had one brake me o at the boat. But I did get a look at her. I igured 5+. That hurts. O the water at 2am. By the way we heard some people talking about some kid caught a huge bass at the dock. Maybe it was that 15?

Report: Fished Amador today with Gold Country Bassers. I had a great day! Fished green Senkos on inside weedlines all over the lake. Caught about 25 ish with biggest 7.75 and best 5 went 18.81. My partner Roland Ericson also caught quite a ew with a 4 pound big ish and total weight over 10 or 5. We had a ew ish on topwater, cranks and rip baits, but the Senko was king.
    City: Marysville

Tips: Pitch to the inside weedline, let it all on semi-slack line. Watch your line careully, you will not eel many bites.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I'm being honest, this is my irst trip in 10 years. I'm mostly a delta rat, Lake Amador has always been my avorite lake since my childhood. Now that I have my own boat I plan on making more trips up here. I started out getting amilar with the lake by ishing the major points. It was pretty windy today. So I took my custom Valco bass boat to the calmer side o the lake. I started by using 6" and 8" worms but no bites. I tried spinnerbaits several times. I had ollowers but no hook ups. I had know bites with my crank baits, except with a Rat-L-Trap late in the evening, but I missed the set. I tried Brass&Glass with 4" and 5" worms but no bites. I did have some ollowers to the boat. I did not even bother picking up my poles that had 17 and 20 lb. lines. Last resort I switched to my spinning rod and started split shotting a 4" magic worm. It was red in color, with small red lake, and a dark blood line down the center. I observed some local bassers working submerged trees. I decided to do the same in between points. My mother was with me ly ishing in a laot tube. She is a regular out there. We kept radios to keep in contact with each other. She told me to keep an eye on the white bass boat with the blue trim. She said he's a regular. Any ways the split shotting paid o or me. I worked down to about 20 t. and caught several bass rom 10" to 15". When it started to get dark I tried top water. I tried zara spooks, buzzbaits, chugbugs, and spit-n-images. I got no bites rom a bass. On the spit-n-image I did catch a strange looking ish. It wasn't a bass or a trout. It had a body o a trout. The color o the body looked like a walleye. I wonder i it was a giant oversize chub minnow. It was an exciting, awesome, and an educational experience. I'm not use to seeing this kind o water clarity. I'd like to plan uture trips. To make the cost o ishing up there worth while I'm asking anybody with tips, patterns, suggestions on what to use and where to ish at Lake Amador. Please email me at bassbuster11@hotmail.com Thanks, Micheal Dowling "Bass Buster"
