Report: Only one ish today. It was a beautiul day out. Jigs didn't do it or me today. Got a reaction strike rom a 3 pounder on spinnerbait. Awesome ight! Thought it was another winter hawg. Fish came out o about 3 oot o water using a slow retrieve. Hard to tell what the bass are up to. Just gotta wait or more stable weather or more consistent action.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: No ishing today. Was in the area and thought I'd give the lake a look. Water level has gone up about a oot since last week. Bailey cove looks great! Should be a very good year. Come on spring!
    City: San Jose

Tips: Didn't have my rod today. Water is still pretty cold, but a tad warmer than the previous weeks. I'd guess low 50's.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Well the ull moon always seems to kill me. Nothing or the second day in a row. Water is still pretty cold and on top o that it's still rising. From Thursday to Friday, the lake level has gone up anywhere rom 6 to 8 inches. I did notice that water was lowing rom the spillway at the northend by the big dam. Bailey cove just might be ull in time or the spawn.

Report: I was on ishing rom the shore. I rarely give away my spots, but I will say this: Fish on the south end o the lake in areas that weren't available or the past couple years. This should give you an idea o a couple areas to try i you know the lake well.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Ater hooking with a three pounder this past Saturday, I decided to give the lake a try again. There was a 20 minute period inside my two hours o ishing that was the most winter excitement I ever had. Got bit by a 3,6, and 5 pounder! (In that order) All ell or a 3/8oz. Terminator jig tipped with a 3-inch Yamamoto twin tail grub. The 6 and 5 were back to back to boot.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Stuck with dark colors with the murky water, which by the way is slowly clearing. Fish slow and keep a tight line. The strikes were very distinct and the ight was pretty cool rom all three. They also came rom the same 10 yard stretch that I was ishin'.

    Water Temp: NA

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: The Winter pattern is on!!! You gotta ish it slow, though. Well, at least it was that way or me, today. Zero on Monday, zero on Tuesday, and 7 bites today with 3 committing. The bites came in about 20 eet o water. Plastics in natural colors were the ticket at this spot.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Try spinnerbaits and spoons irst in LIKELY SPOTS. I nothing transpires, bust out the plastics and be very thorough in the same LIKELY SPOTS.

    Water Temp: 45-55 degrees

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Spent an couple hours checking out the lake since it has illed up. Was rewarded with a nice winter HAWG, 6-7 lbs. Looks like she was getting ready or spring. Used a 6" Bacon Rind, Texas-rigged. All I can say is ish slow and cover areas that you might have been able to ish the past couple years. With the water pretty murky/muddy, I ished with dark colors that could maintain its identity. Nice way to start the year!

Report: Fishing has been decent in the recent weeks with plenty o nice reaction ish.Kinda tightened up or me this trip. Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Me too. I was slabbin' when all o a sudden the Carp were hitting. I thought maybe it was one o those rare Stripers pumped in rom San Luis, but nope!!! It was a Carp. Ater that, I caught 5 more (all lip hooked). My ishin' buddies still doubt me 'til this day. They are ools!!!

    Water Temp: cold

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: You too, huh? Well, I've been ishin' this lake or many years with a 10 pounder to my name. But, Carp? Yes, I was jigging a spoon when all o a sudden I was ighting a hard ight. I actually thought maybe it was one o those San Luis Stripers pumped into the lake, but inally reeled it in and it was a Carp. I thought it was a luke but 10 casts later I caught 5 more (all lip hooked). My ishing buddies still don't believe me 'til this day. These Carp ight pretty good, huh?

    Water Temp: 54-56

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished with a riend rom 9:30 to 2:30.Caught 5 bass and 1 carp. Bass on darthead worms and carp on a darthead also. Fought the carp or almost 5 minutes on 6lb line and thought I would inally break my record on this lake or a bass. No luck but did land it. Bass were sporadic. Saw huge balls o shad in 40' o water surrounded by larger ish darting in and out o the schools. All bass caught were ootballs and a really nice way to see these Calero bass that can oten look pretty skinny. Once the water temp drops below 50 the shad should thin out and the bite should pick up or the bass.
    City: Mountain View

Tips: Darthead worms did the trick, the lighter the better. Shad color or the worms.Jigs just wouldn't get bit. Not sure why but the condition o the ish caught showed there was no problem or the bass to eed heavily on the huge schools o shad that we metered on the graph.

I also lost one using a watermelon colored hula grub. Fishing seemed slow, talked to a ew other boats and no one else was catching anything.

    Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I tubed Calero today rom 12:30-4:45. The irst two hours were slow or me, but I didmanage a 3.2 on gold blades o a rocky point in about 8 eet o water. Kinda interesting as unlike most ish out o Calero, this ish did'nt have any marks in it's mouth rom being caught beore. Eventually I ended up at the submerged islandand ound ish on the south side in about 10-14 eet and took 6 o them between 2-3 lbs ona green pumpkin Brushhog. I talked to a guy in a Pro-Crat, he said he had been out allmorning without any action, then he headed to the shallows in the aternoon a naileda decent 4.4 on blades. It looks like thebite is starting to pick up a bit, but most action seems to be in the aternoon.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Not too many suspended ish, most ish I marked were hunkered down on the bottomand near structure. Get o the lake on time,or prepare or a lecture....killin me

    Water Temp: 62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: A lot o ishermen are leaving the lake early because they are getting skunked. Low water combined with heavy winds are making the shallows muddy. Unortunately i you want to ish deep you have to contend with the high waves thanks to the wind and the water skiers. Time to ind a new lake to ish.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Bring out the jig and pigs, drop shot rigs and spoons.

    Water Temp: 67

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Water dropping rapidly and the rocks are starting to show. The ish are still scattered and not schooling up. The weeds are starting to die but many o the best ishing spots are still totally covered by thick cover and there is no way to get into them. I have spoken to quite a ew bass boaters coming o the lake and very ew are catching or even graphing large ish. You can still catch small ish to 1 1/2 pounds i you ish slow and deep. with Jigs and plastics in darker colors. I we could get a ew weeks o colder weather, the ish should turn on and the water skiers and jet ski crazys should start staying home.
