    Water Temp: 72

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Sat. morning from 8:00 till 12:30 PM. Haven't been out to Callero for 4-5-months was thinking I might get a little topwater action with all of the shad I saw and the occasional boils. No luck at all took me awhile until I finally tried deeper water. Ended up with four 12" - 14" all off a point in 15-18' of water. All came on a watermelon spidergrub on a 3/8 oz. football leadhead. Wish I had made the adjustment earlier.
    City: Newark

Tips: Fish deep and make sure you have contact with the bottom.

    Water Temp: 70-71

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Brent and I float tubed Calero Friday from about 8:30AM-5PM. Weather was calm, cloudy, and warm untill about noon when the wind picked up. It also rained (!?!?!) on and off for the first few hours. We saw bass busting at shad on the surface, complete with diving birds, but we were never there at the right time. Tried a Splash-It and a Castaic Threadfin Shad where we saw them busting but no takers. We ended up catching a little over 20 bass dragging worms and jigs in deeper, 17-30', water. Nothing over 3 pounds. We couldn't catch anything in water shallower than about 15 feet. There were also some suspended fish, but we didn't go after them. I caught one of them by accident when it grabbed a jig on the fall.
    City: Mountain View

Tips: Fish jigs and worms in natural colors (greens/browns) on the deep end of rocky points.

    Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I got to Calero around 9:30 am on Wednesday and tubed a couple of the rocky points on the south side of the lake. Splitshot a purple Power worm and didn't get a strike . Made my way toward the second point and the water was a little deeper there. In 19 feet of water I switched to a football head jig with a junebug Yamamoto spidergrub. On the first cast I thought I snagged the bottom, but it turned out to be a 2 lber. proceeded to catch three more in the next ten minutes( all around 2 lbs ) After that...not much else.
    City: santa clara

Tips: fish the later afternoon- early evening. The fish are really digging the topwater bite. Moss Frogs, flukes, weightless plastics all produce out here.

    Water Temp: ~80

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Brent and I float tubed Calero again this Friday. It was dead calm untill noon, and very hot. After that the wind picked up and the water skiers came out creating some good wave action. The fish were biting, though not many big ones. We caught almost 30 fish, and lost quite a few more. Two were about 3.5 pounds, 4-5 were in the 2 lb range, and the rest were dinks. One fish coughed up a dead shad on the way up, but we caught all the fish on crawdad colored worms and jigs.
    City: Mountain View

Tips: Split shot green weenies in 15-25 feet of water for numbers. Use jigs for larger fish.

    Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Nicolo and I fished Calero today from about 7:30 to 4:30. We eneded up with around 27 fish. We had a couple of 2#s and 3#s and all the rest were smaller. We caught most fish split-shotting 4 1/2" Green Weenies in about 10'-30' of water. Pretty good day in all. -Brent
    City: San Jose

Tips: The blue bird conditions and hot weather pushed the fish pretty far from the bank. At least until the mudlines were formd, then some came up shallower. Just drag the worm slowly. Once you fisnd a fish there are bound to be more in the area. We found two or three spots where the fish seemed to be schooled.

    Water Temp: High 70s

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Nicolo and I tubed Calero from about 9AM to 4:30PM. We found fish while split shotting 4" Green Weenies in 10'-20'of water. We also found fish along the mudlines on jigs. We landed 12 fish including a 6 pounder and two 4 pounders. All others were about a pound or so. Tight lines. -Brent
    City: San Jose

Tips: Most fish were deep from the three consecutive dyas of miserable heat. So back off the shoreline, out past the weeds, and start dragging.

  • By

    Water Temp: 79-81

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Brent and I float tubed 8AM - 4:30PM. It was very windy and VERY cold untill about noon. We worked the shoreline on the opposite side from the boat ramp. Frogs, spinner baits, and crankbaits were useless for us today. We did find a lot of fish though, and ended up with a 6 lber, two 4 lbers, and about 10 dinks.
    City: Mountain View

Tips: For quantity, split shot green weenies in 15-25 feet of water, just about anywhere. All three of our large fish came on jigs, one in 20 feet, and the other two in 5-10 feet once a mude line from the water skiers had established. The big fish were all near heavy rock cover with some weeds.

    Water Temp: ??

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the east shore, near the dam, as the sun went down; quickly turned to topwater, since the weed growth on the bottom was such a drag. Even my suspending jerkbaits got caught up in the muck. Had some *ferocious* attacks on my chrome/blue Chug Bug, but only got one all the way to shore. The fish didn't go for a Spook, Splash-It or buzzbait, but they sure went after the Chug Bug!
    City: San Jose

Tips: Now's the time for some late-evening topwater action (in the morning, too, I'm sure; I just can't make it out then, during the week).

    Water Temp: 72

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Troy and I were able to sneak in without reservations. We only had a few hours to fish and since we wanted to work jigs we fished every downed tree we could find. We nailed a couple fish in the 2lbs range and missed a few real nice fish. We also spent some time in the backs of coves working baby bass colored flukes.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Have your fishing license on. With the summer crowds and new rangers you will be checked.
