    Water Temp: 49-50

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Picked up a couple of small fish on a Football Jighead with a Yamamoto Twin Tail Grub, Purple Smoke color. Fishing from the bank to the deeps, getting hit in about 20 - 25 feet of water. A fellow I spoke with said, he got a few early cranking a red firetiger speed trap right on the bank. I got blown off the lake at 11:30. PS: The lake is really low!
    City: San Jose

Tips: SLOW, SLOW, SLOW, your personal choice of deepwater confidence bait.

    Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I dragged my kickboat out and fished from about 10-3:30PM. I spent the first three or four hours trying to spoon up some fish. There were a lot of schools of shad down there, mostly in 30-40 feet of water. Never got hit. After watching another guy stick three small fish in front of me while I wasted my time out in the middle of the lake I decided to try the shore. I caught about 8 bass to 4.5 pounds in the next hour or so. All of them were in very shallow water, mostly 5 feet deep or less. All came on a brown/red jig. They were very fat and healthy. And hungry, a few nearly swallowed the jig.
    City: Mountain View

Tips: Fish jigs very shallow on steep rocky banks.

    Water Temp: lo 50's

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Tough day; I got skunked. Most other boats reported just one or two for the day. The one guy who camped out at the main rocky point (whatever they call it -- the one that leads to the 2 back coves) had at least 7 or 8 fish to 4.5 lbs. He showed 'em to me out of his livewell -- no lying here! He said he was fighting off other boats all morning long, but he held his ground! He was catching 'em with a slow-crawled jig, inched back to the boat sitting in 15-25 ft. of water. Another guy on the shore said there was another boat hammering 'em on zipper worms, pitched to the shallows and/or dragged at 10-20 ft. depths. Beautiful, sunny day; little wind, few ski-boats. Unfortunately, not too many fish being caught.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Slow & deep -- jigs are probably the best bet. I don't imagine the fish are moving too fast, or too far! Use your electronics to narrow down the search. Then maybe a spoon?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished sunday from about 2:00-3:30pm. Fished south of 1st dam. slow retrieving spider grubs with lead heads. My buddy's first fish of the day was an 8.4lb moose. Setting a new boat record for us (we're both rookies). Caught 2 more fish after that, weighed neither, since they looked like minnows compared to the first fish. Were probably 1 - 2lb. range. Fish were all caught at about 20ft. Threw some cranks, and other plastics, with no luck.

    Water Temp: Cool

Report: Fished north of the 1st dam from 7:00 until 9:00. Threw cranks and spinner baits with no luck. I switch to a 5 inch reeper, green and brown. Caught a nice 2.5 - 3 lbr. That was it for the rest of the morning.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Slow drag a green and brown reeper in about 20 feet of water.

Report: Launched at 9:30am. Fished until Noon. One fish, 3.4lbs., on a green/red flake Yam. spider grub fished on a stand up jig head. Caught him in about 15ft. of water off a point. There must have been fifty fish in this area, and my fishing prowess brought me one! The fish were all marked at 15ft.+ of water. Water level on the south end is incredibly low. Very calm day. Everyone I talked to said it was a tough bite. Even tougher when your'e still learning.

Report: Launched at 1pm. Fished for 2.5hrs. No hits, no bumps, absolutely no action at all. Even hit the usual 'gimme' spots using the usual 'gimme' baits, still nothing. Watched one guy fishing get sprayed by some idiots in a ski boat with a wakeboard tower on it. About four guys wakeboarding. They are out there quite often and are a menace. If you see this boat, make a complaint. These guys shouldn't be out there.

Report: Launched at 8:30am. Fishing was slow until about 10am. Which happened to be about the same time the wind picked up. Caught five fish between 10am and 1pm. All on plastics. All fish were between 1.3-2.0 lbs. Slow retrieve, with pauses was bringing strikes. Fish were just taking bait and running. No topwater bite in the morning today.

    Water Temp: 61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at 7:30 AM, water level is low so the south end is mostly dry. Not even a bite in 4 hours. Other fishermen were catching fish all around me. The only difference is that I was using lures and they were using live minnows.
    City: Fremont

Tips: Don't Go to Calero without minnows this time of year. Fish the submerged islands in 7-20 feet of water.

Report: Hello everyone. I understand that Calero can be one mother of a tough lake, but right now is not one of them. I am just an average stick, and I don't want to p' anyone off, but fishing aint that hard right now. I've been throwing plastics and traps and hooking fish everywhere. The average depth has been 15-18' for good consistant fish using plastics. I'm talking bottom depth, not weed depth. Trap fishing has been best early on, in shallow water. They want to rip the rod out of your hand. Yee haw!! On Saturday I was out for only a half day and caught at least twenty fish. Yeah, some were dinks but the rest averaged a pound and a half and up to four pounds.
    City: San Jose

Tips: The baitfish are everywhere and they're swimming shallow. Find the baitfish and defined weedlines and throw traps. Find weedlines and a few baitfish and throw plastics. Weightless has been the way to go. Not flukes, brush hogs. Watch out for the idiot skiers. Carry 1 oz. spoons.
