Report: Well last week I banged almost 50 fish!!! Saturday I nailed 0!! My girlfirend got 1 on a Senko and I missed two bites on a Beaver. What a difference a week makes!!! Talked to lots of boats on the water and they were all giving the thumbs down, only heard of 2 other fish caught. The wind kicked up around 3 and we called it a day. Better luck next time I guess!

Report: I hit the water with a new Devil Mountain member in his champion. With a early start, we were able to work the wall in franks before the tournamet blasted off, but only managed to pick up one 2 lb fish on a drop shot. With boats coming in from the tournament coming out of Russos, we hit several more spots in franks, picking up a fish here and there on beavers. but the bite was tough. Went into sandmound looking for bedding fish and still didn't find any in the area that we were fishing. With the wind coming up we moved to taylor and threw a frog durring the mid day with no takers. finishing the day in Dutch, I put the beaver back to work, pulling a 3 pounder and an 8 pound momma to cap off the day.

Interestingly, while the 8 pounder was in a spawning mode, she wasn't full yet and I think we are in for a great April.
    City: Walnut Creek

Tips: Over the last few months the devil mountain bassmasters has been inviting new members to join the club, some are deeply experienced and others are self taught. They have all the right equiptment and skills, but lack a network of friends to help them grow as anglers. If you find yourself to be one of those people, find yourself a club and grow your skills fast.

Yesterday, I was throwing a beaver and catching fish. My partner was throwing a beaver and not getting bit. This being the first time we fished together, I didn't want to tell him what to do, but I did offer him the color (sprayed grass) that worked for me. Still no luck for him. At the end of the day, we talked about it again. He was throwing 20 lb test, 3/8 lead with a bead and a 4/0 hook. I throw it on 15 lb flouro, 3/16 titanium, no bead and a 3/0 hook.

    But remember, presentation is everything...

Report: Thanks for the feedback John. I just fished a similar area last week in Franks, AND COULD NOT BELIEVE THE AMOUNT OF BASS BOATS JUST FLYING BY ME!!!! I thought for sure somebody would at least stop and share the hole , but no one did. I totally respect you keeping your areas to yourself. I am always searching for new information, but I understand that TOO much shared information on the net could clean out "good spots" THANKS AGAIN.......

Report: I did not catch my fish in Franks. I fish a lot of tournaments so i don't want to give exactly where i'm fishing away. There are still many quality fish in Franks and you can find the same types of areas there. The community hole would be one area. If you want to go have some fun catching a lot of quality bass, give sherman island a try.

Report: Went out yesterday as well as today. Fished yesterday in a shallow spawning bay and hammered the big ones. Caught a 10, 8, 7, and numerous 3's and 4's. Caught all of my fish dragging around a senko and jig in 5-12 ft of water just like the previous report. It's nice to get a tug and not a nibble. Went back out today and went further east and fished a flooded island. Got one to come up on a spook in the morning. Then started dragging around and found some fish again in the 10 ft range. Got only 5 fish today but those five weighed around 22 pds. The weather made it tough to fish today so left early. And with the grumbling between you guys, i think what nick was trying to say is that local delta fisherman have a big advantage in the delta. I've been fishing the delta for years and it shows time and time again that when a local angler fishes a large tournament here, they win or come very close to winning. nick couldn't have said it better that time on the delta is key to success. and if not given that time, just get out there and toss a senko in the tules these next couple of weeks and catch a bunch and maybe the fish of a lifetime. But as for now, with the unstable weather, drop back and fish a little deeper.

Report: you guys are taking my last posting the wrong way. the bassmaster anglers are great fisherman. its hard to be consistant for four days straight. especially after the flw was there the week earlier. i went out today and i'm still focusing on pre spawn bass. the wind was terrible and made me fish in protected areas. i've been catching all my fish on a black and blue jig or worm. that is also how a lot of guys are catching their biggest fish. i fish very slow and key in on any hard structure off the bank in about 5 to 12 feet of water. you also want to follow the top of the outgoing tide. it seems to be making all the difference right now. the fish just seem like they are not up in the tules like last year. it may be from all of the pressure. whatever it is the main thing to catch the big fish is find hard sructure offshore where not a lot of people are fishing. by hard structure i mean wood, pete burms, or rock. the jig seems to be catching the biggest fish even though the senko is very popular. just get out on the water and find a pattern. time on the water is everything. good luck and have fun fishing.

Report: i fished the 100 percent tournament today and if you think the bassmasters weighed in some big bags take a look at the 100 percent bass results. my brother and i weighed in 24.77lbs with an 8.8lb kicker and took 9th place. 1st had 31lbs. Big fish was 12lbs and some change. 5th big fish was 9.7lbs. Now that is pretty impressive. Us local guys now our stuff.

Report: Fished Discovery Bay at high tide (outgoing) and didn't get anything. We tried senkos, top water, spinner baits and crank baits. Stirperman mentions some hogs on beds. We are relatively new to delta fishing, so where are the beds? Do you need to fish low tide to see them? Are they on the rock wall or the behind the docks?
