Report: Went out Sat to check some different water and look for a flip bite. Well, I just had the itch to throw that damn swimbait again. Just one cast, OK just one fish, three bites later, OK just afew more more casts. Then comes a 6.13. OK I really need to focus here so I make a move and flip for a bit. Get a few little guys but not what I'm looking for. Then comes that little swimbait demon voice in my head again, the tide is right, the weather is good, the area feels right. go ahead, no one will know, I cave in and stick a 3 1/2. Makes a few more moves and stick another 3 1/2, then a 7.0, then a 5.10.. all this and I'm leaving each area after the first bite cause I'm supposed to be prefishing. Finally force myself to get off the water, best five about 26 1/2.

Sun fished the A/C sp. started off slow for me with the big bait but my partner was flipin small senko fish at every spot. I stuck with it and finally got em to eat about noon. Never got the big dog but put together a limit of 3's and 4's for 19lbs. Winners had 22lbs

Tips: don't beat em up during practice like I do

Report: Got on the water with our club tournament. Launched out of Holland. In 30 min after launch we had 6 keepers in the boat on (2) on popper, (2) on buzzbait and my son hit (2) on a frog. Ran to the next spot and tried a chatterbait with no luck. Next move the fish were on fire, we hit 30+ fish w/ 75% of the fish on top-water. (popper, spook). Open rock bank we threw a chatterbait and they were eating it. Stayed on that bank the rest of the day, even made a second pass before heading in and hit 5 more. Lot of fish but the kicker did not show herself. Best 5 only went 12.30. What can I say... TOP-WATER...
    City: Fremont

Tips: Throw Your favorite "TOP-WATER" Bait. Popper, Spook, Buzzbait and don't forget that FROG. Bobby said to me... Throw it anywhere...If its not in the water, you can't catch them..... Good Luck.... Catch You on The Water....

Report: The Devil Mountain Bassmasters came to the Delta in force with expectations high. With pre-front conditions, we launched out of Lundborg and had the place to ourselves. It was a tough day for most, but their were some big (club) sacks brought in. Our newest pre-member got hot on a beaver bite in Franks and put together a solid sack to win the tournament, official win went to last years angler of the year with 17+ lbs and a 9.6 lb bass for big fish. He was closely follow with big bass of 8 and 6.5 pounds. The rain held off until we finished and the wind came up and then layed down in the middle of the day.

The jig counted for a few fish, as did blades and the 6.5 was taken with a chatterbait. But plastics ruled the day. For me, it just wasn't my day. I lost fish, broke a big one off, caught a nice 6 lb ............................... squawfish? Missed bites and only managed to bring 4 small fish to the scales.

When the day was over we sat at the outdoor seating at Lundborg, had a few beers, shared stories of the day and lots of laughs. Proving that while it is better to win, but nobody loses when you are fishing with friends.

Devil mountain is about great days of fishing with friends. We compete in a monthly tournament format, but we are about bass fishing, sharing information and having a network of fishing buddies. If this sounds good to you, please go to www.dmbass.com or give me a call at 925-639-7724. Next meeting is May 2.
    City: Walnut Creek

Tips: A beaver with 3/16 oz... swim it, then let it rest.

The Lundborg ramp has broken planks, call before you launch there.

Report: slow day for the most part. Crazy windy weekend, so didnt bother fishing on saturday. Went out on sunday hoping the winds calmed down. launched out of russo's, slight breeze in the morning, started off with one about 3 lbs in the first 10 min of fishing. then everything went dead after that. jumped around, but couldnt find any clear water. eventually found some "clearer" water up at fishermans cut (as did 4-6 other boats hahaha) camped out in one spot, and picked up 5 fish biggest about 2.5 lbs. bite died out, headed up towards mokelume...hooked a few more, but the wind and current was getting too strong for us. packed up, headed back down to franks for one last hoorah...then BAM, 7 lber. sure glad we didnt go straight back to the marina. caught another 4 lber chucking cranks. Not a great day, but satisfying. best 5 only about 15 lbs.
    City: el cerrito

Tips: find some clearer water. fish are there, but just cant see your bait. all fish held tight to cover as most do when the water is dirtied up like that. traps and big body cranks (wide wobble) seemed to work for us. also got some fish on big roboworms. CHARGE YOUR BATTERY well!!!! i learned the hard way =(

Report: The reaction bite on was on Thurs. Boated 20+ keeps with big fish of 8.9 and 8.15. Best five about 28lbs. Plus at the end of the day I dumped another biggun about 7-8lbs right at the boat after her 3rd or 4th jump.. Would have been into the 30's w that one. Went back out Fri and.. well, not so good, not at all..think I was just too stubborn to put the big bait down.

Tips: Caught some spawned out, others were bloated with eggs, and saw some on beds... all three stages for sure.

Tips: Senko's green pumkin/black flake, if they don't eat em on the fall let them sit for fifteen seconds with intermitant shake.

Report: I had the chance to fish noon to 3:30 today with a new Devil Mountain member. He had been out in the morning and I was happy for the time on the water. We flipped jigs and plastics around franks and little franks. The plastics out produced the jig today, but I think the real story is what is going on in Little Franks. The water is an ugly brown tea color. We still managed to pull a few small fish out, but all in all, the fishing in there was slow.

The best part of the day was fishing with a new club member. I showed him some water and a few things that I do to catch fish and he showed me a ditch in franks that I didn't know was there.

Report: I have been catching some fish most in the 1 to 2# range with the occasional bigger fish.I'm not having a problem with the smaller fish but can't seem to get on to the bigger ones.I think my problem is staying too long in one place. The other day my partner and I fished a good 10 hrs. with 25 or so fish with 2 over 3.5#.But we only fished 4 areas,I'm wondering if I'm staying to long on one spot and not looking around a little more.I don't want to leave fish to find fish but if my quality isn't up to par should I look more. Thanks in advance for any help you can give and old non tourmenent fisherman.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Franks today. Last week during the WON pro/am most of the fish were still holding out deeper. This week, the water cleared, we had several days of warm weather and the fish moved up big time... just look at the monster 1st day weights of the AC TOC. Started by fishing shallow tules looking for a crank and swim bait bite w no love. Tossed a senko and boated a 5. Made a few moves and about 2 hours later boated a 4 punching some junk w a tube bait. A few moves later got a 3+ off a clump of peet w a drop shot. 3 fish at noon was definately slower pace than expected, but at least the quality was good. The tide was getting low and the sun was high, bed fish were everywhere. I bounced around but couldn't find any big ones locked. Got a few dinks and another 3+ off a bed w a drop shot. Got a little afternoon cloud cover and breeze to go w the incoming tide. I went back to the Osprey swim bait in the tules and got a few tail biters. A 5+ followed all the way to the boat but wouldn't commit. Hmmm. Came up to another peet clump and made a long cast to it. A few slow turns and Thunk! The rod loads and I figure this might be a good one. Then I see the head of this giant Delta Donkey wallowing with my swimbait deep in its mouth. It was a short fight thanks to a heavy 8' swimbait rod with 25lb Big Game. A solid 10lbs 14 oz makes it my first double digit swimbait fish. SWEEEET! Best five about 26lbs.

Report: I headed out to Frank's tract yesterday with a couple of my buddies but ended up getting sidetracked at ski beach. Stayed there for a few hours until we realized it was already 4. Headed back fished the boat docks around Holland's tract and also the boat docks around the Sugar barge. Hooked into a couple small ones nothing really big. Saw a couple of fishing hanging out in the stalls where the light was penetrating. Saw a few bedfish also none of them were very big though.
