Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Friday with Jim Malm out of Wimpy's, spent the first part of the morning back in the narrow slough to the right of the marina (low tide). Headed down to Beaver and found some small black bass with senkos, stripers with a rip bait. Moved down to the Hwy 12 bridge and found more bass and a 3 lb striper.
Went out Saturday out of Pardise Point in the fog and light winds. Found in the back sloughs some nice bass upto 3.0 lbs and about 10 dinks, 4 stripers with a Green Pumkin Senko. Riped a 4" black/silver bait, picked up small stripers and black bass. Super Brush Hog and Brown/Purple JK jigs with a Sweet Beaver trailer. The North winds came in around 11am and turned off most of the fishing.

Tips: Rip, crank and finess slow, replace your hooks with better ones. Red hooks are good too. (bleeders)

    Water Temp: 59

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Just got back from a 2 week vacation where I didn't touch a rod. Went out on Thursday (3 of us) and Friday (2 of us).

On Thursday, we fished Beaver, Hog, and Sycamore -- caught 5 stripers (7-9 lbs), 4 salmon (11-14 lbs), and 3 bass (1.5-2.5 lbs). Salmon were real fighters -- lost 2 salmon that jumped a least 2 ft in the air and threw the lure back at us. I lost another salmon that swam around the boat and rubbed line on a submerged structure and line broke.

On Friday, we fished Disappointment -- caught 6 stripers (3-7 lbs) and 12 bass (largest 3.5 lbs -- best 5: 12 lbs). Caught a lot of shaker size stripers on both days.
    City: Dixon

Tips: We used 3/4 oz Rat L Traps (w/upgraded owner 4x hooks) about 90% of the time. All of the traps were either the chrome w/blue back or the chrome blue bleeding shad. Definitely need to make sure you upgrade the hooks -- the salmon can straighten out the factory hooks during their struggle. Be alert at all times, we caught several stripers and salmon that hit the lure within 5 ft of the boat.

Report: Took mike deans new 619 out on maiden voyage. Fished north delta. third cast caught my dollar fish 2+lbs on rip bait. Mike makes a cast same spot he nails a smaller one. See strippers going nuts he catches a 10 or 12 pounder. His ranger is really nice to fish out of. Very stable and well laid out. Don't know why more multi fishing boats aren't sold out here. We ended up with 20 bass mostly small, 25 strippers 3 to 12 lbs.Bring your insect repellent for when the wind dies down. Those skeeters are huge.
    City: orangevale

Tips: Blacks are everywhere. Rip, blades top water swim baits, crank baits all worked. Outgoing tide was by far better. I gotta flip more when tide is all the way up.Strippers go nuts on the change of the tide. Look for bait and birds. Don't go running over your fish with trolling motor or big motor. When they are feeding try spooks and woodchoppers. They are so much fun.P.S. put bigger hooks on them.

Report: Fished the NCCC over the weekend and caught a bunch of fish cranking the outside weedlines on a deep diver crank in crawdad pattern in the morning. Was overcast all morning. But when the sun broke out, we lost the crank bite. However, by early afternoon, we caught some fish on a blade up on some sparce weed in ~3-5 feet of water. Did also managed a few here and there on some plastics, but it was not the major bite for us.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Crank and blade ... put the motor on high and cover water till you find a concentration of fish. Then slow and see if you can coax a few more w/ worms.

Report: Excellent day on the Delta, started a little late, dead batteries, on the water by 9:00, started with a chrome jerkbait, action right away, even had a 5pounder try to take the bait from a smaller fish and caught both at once, that was fun, jerkbait worked well until noon, had 25 fish in the boat by then. Then I switched to a Senko with a a splitshot to get it down and caught 10 more by 2:30. Fished down south, low tide. Very fun day, fish are aggressive right now. best 5 was probably aroung 15lbs.

Report: Black bass are still biting, I was the extra boater in a tourament out of Russo's. 15 clubs, 5 of the top boaters and non-boaters from each club had a day to see who was the best of the West. The day started out with a light rain and a lots of clouds with light winds. After blast off I found some water running out of Frank's tracks with tules and rocks. No body was around so I used a speed trap in sliver/blue getting four nice bass with one keeper. spinners did ok, Rattle Traps ok. As the tide moved out so did I, cranking and draging. As the tide started back in I looked for fast moving water around eddies, points with rocks. texas rigging a brush hog was the way to go for me, finding 30 plus bass and 10 keeper my best was 10.25 lbs. Not near my best, but a fun day in the Delta. I left at 2:30 before the tourament boaters came in.
    City: Rocklin

Tips: find moving waters, tules and rocks. Around docks, pipes and inside pockets.

Report: Spent another rocking day on the delta. Caught many fish up to about 3.5 lbs cranking the rocks and spinning blades over the tops of weeds. As the day progressed I decided to slow down and work some plastics. This was the first time that I tried drop shotting little beavers on the edge of the weedlines. Okay, that won me over and proved to be very productive. While "big Momma" didn't show up, the numbers and quality of the fish was outstanding.
    City: Walnut Creek

Tips: Search for classic ambush spots in current.

There is a new Club in the area, Devil Mountain Bassmasters. We are looking for both boaters and non boaters and meet at the Copper Skillet in Walnut Creek the first Tuesday of the month. If you would like more information, give me a call at 925-639-7724

    Water Temp: 62-69

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Pre-fished a few days over the last week for the Hook tournament....which Gene appropriately called off due to high winds..better safe than sorry... Anyways, topwater had been kicking out some decent fish lately(south and central), a big black buzzer was getting several 3's a day along w a 4+ and a 5. Not a fast paced bite but consistant all day long. Mon I intended to focus on cranks but conditions weren't in my favor, it was flat calm, w/clear sky and the tide only moved about a foot in either direction. About noon I decided to run North and flip around some areas well known for big dogs but I rarely fish. Pitched my senko up to and isolated tule clump, tap, set and oooh what a pull. I quickly checked my drag thinking it must be loose, nope she's just pulling hard. Turned out to be a beautifull 10lb 10z toad. Lukily a DFG warden drove up on the levee just as I boated her and offered to take a few pic's since I was by myself.

    Water Temp: mid 60's

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at 7:00A out of Paradise. Spent most of the day in Disappointment. No morning bite. Most of the fish caught after 10:00A. Off the water by 2:00P

3 of us caught 18 keeper size bass (largest 3+ lbs) and 3 keeper size stripers (largest 6 lbs). Best 5 bass weighed around 13lbs. Most of fish caught on shad colored Rat L Traps close to weedline or over weedbeds.
    City: Dixon

Tips: I used a 3/4 oz Rat L Trap for most of the day while my cousins used 1/2 oz. Bass are real aggressive -- we caught several bass that were about 4 in long on both size of traps. Use heavier trap if you want to get some striper action -- I caught 2 keepers and lost 2 others that were keeper size.
