Report: Well last day of my three day trip to the Delta, all I will say about my second day on the delta was it suck, one small black bass. Now on the third day instead of launching at B&W I went to Sugar Barge to try that area. The weather look bad but I felt I should give it one last chance. Launch at 1PM and went to the northwest portion of Frank's tract and for the first hour nothing. At 2pm the rain came down in buckets and that is when the fish started to turn on. Caught five bass cranking blue/chrome speed trap on a point of tules with current. Went up the side of the tules and got one blacky and a small striper on the speed trap. Than I moved south heading towards Sugar Barge and caught three bass on a tule point flipping a red flake senko. After that no current no bites. At 5pm I was cold and came in. Not to bad for a few rainy, cold hours 9 blacks all 1.6lbs to 2.1lbs and small striper. Heading back to Lompoc, if you gays and gals get a chance to come south to my area email me I can give you some tips and areas for Lake Cachuma, Casitas where I do most of my fishing.

Report: Fished for a few hours in the South during the evening to take advantage of a cloudy day. Found blade fish on riprap in old river and middle river. The flip bite was good as well, found fish shallow in tule pockets with current using Senko's and worms. Most fish were between 1.5 and 3 lbs but it was fun to catch shallow fish.
    City: Tracy

Tips: Overcast day kept the fish up and made for easier fishing.

Report: This was my 4th trip to the Delta and second tourney there. I bombed big time! My girlfriend and I launched at the mouth of Disco Bay and fished the entire area from our tubes. My very first cast resulted in a 12 1/2 incher with a white spinnerbait. Then nada until noon when I picked up two more 12 1/2 inch shorts, both on the same white blade. I tried craw pattern cranks, white buzzbaits, white blades, white frogs and flipped senkos in a half dozen different colors and 2 different sizes. I even put a glass rattle in one for a short time. We tried shallow and deep. It just wasn't my day.

Report: Fished in the evening every day this past week, usually started around 6:30pm and finished up a few hours later, right after dark. Did all my fishing in the Sac Arm above Antler's Resort. Caught a good number of dinks on worms and reapers, had a few hit a pointer minnow, caught decent sized fish on an Iviono Splash-It fished up against rocky points.

Tips: make sure your lights work and be safe if night fishing

Report: Fished Whites and 14 Mi today. Got frog fish early and Senko fish the rest of the day..mostly flipping shallow next to deeper water. Best 5 only went 12#. Couldn't get bit during low tide...tried everything we could think of. Once water started moving again, the bite resumed.
    City: Fair Oaks

Tips: Look for current on riprap walls with deep water nearby.

Report: Went out of the Hook again this Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Lost one at barge cove on spinnerbait, so moved over to northwest side of big break near the San Joaquim. Spinnerbaited weed/tule clumps, no luck. Started throwing rattletrap on points with current and within 5 minutes hooked something big (slow, heavy headshakes - striper?) that was pulling the drag. Chased it with my trolling motor for a while but eventually it got off. Caught several smaller schoolie stripers, but no black bass, so moved upriver to Little Frank's, started tossing 'trap on channel side of openings into tract, and caught 5 nicer blackies, 2-3 lbs each. One near 4, which ended up being the biggest fish of the day. Started methodically fishing inside and outside of cuts into Frank's tract, and picked up fish on a regular basis, mostly blackies - occasional small striper mixed in. Ran to Mildred to a spot that has been consistent for me and hooked, fought and LOST 3 better fish. Each time as I got them close to the boat, they would make a last minute dash into heavy weeds and come unbuttoned. Ran down to Coney island area to pitch jigs along channel sides, had three good hits but could not connect. By now I had missed as many fish as I had caught, and was getting frustrated at the numbers of escapees. Ran up to Quimby area and had no luck on jigs or crankbaits. Cruised back out to Franks and started picking up 1-1.5 lbers on traps in openings with current as has been the case on these last two trips. Drifted over a school of feeding schoolie stripers at the end of the day and literally wore my arm out casting and fighting baby stripers from 1-4 lbs! was getting hits on multiple consecutive casts, and had the hooks ripped off my rattletrap baits twice - could see multiple fish following hooked one and trying to steal bait from hooked fish, which I think was how hooks were getting ripped off of baits. All told, about 30 fish, half blackies, half stripers, no size again, but much fun and better quality fish than caught Tuesday.
    City: Half Moon Bay

Tips: The rattletrap looks to be a safe bet for filling out a quick limit or adding a final fish to complete a limit. Only caught fish near gaps draining water from or into Franks, little franks, big break, and mildred.

Report: Launched early in the south to get topwater bite, lots of dinks but no keeepers. Falling tide and pumps on. Decided to forget topwater bite and throw senko's into pockets. Caught a few fish to 2 lbs. Most of fish were around points and current, fish were hitting the senko on the move. Changed to bomber 7A and that was what they wanted today. Boated about 12 to 15 fish, nothing over 2.5 lbs Tried dropshotting a senko in 20 ft had one bite and broke me off, 12 lb test dohhh!!! Hmmmmmmmm.....
    City: tracy

Tips: No decent topwater fish for me, but the crank bite is steady with moving water.

Report: Fished 14mi, Bishop Cut and White's with Netster. Spent most of the morning throwing frogs and other top water. Got a few good hookups but slow overall...by 10:00 switched to Senkos. That did the trick! Netster nailed 10# 14oz beauty and five minutes later I added a 6 1/2 to the limit. Continued to fish Senko's and catch fish, although, after handling Netster's hawg, everything close to 13" looked too small to keep! Hahaha!
    City: Fair Oaks

    Tips: Senkos are still working.

Report: Had a couple of rough days this weekend. Fished a club tournament on Saturday and only weighed 1 fish for about 3#. Had a lot of blowups on frogs, but only caught the one. Fish were in the shade under weeds in 1.5-3 feet of water. Nothing flipping. Went back out after the weigh in a caught 3 from 1.5 to 3#s on Senkos inside the Break in the clear lane between weeds and tules. Sunday went out for a couple of hours and looked for some new current spots. Caught a 2.5# on a ReAction Gator Dog and a 3# on a Senko. Both came out of 3.5-4.5 feet of water on edge of current with deep water near by. While it was a slow weekend I still learned a few things.
    City: Brentwood

Tips: Have had best luck flipping plastics, jigs have not been producing very well for me. Be sure to add a couple of glass beads inside your frogs. Did make a difference on the number of blowups between me and my partner on Saturday.

Report: Launched out of Hollands at 5:30am. Fished the rock bank to the right all the way down to the fork. Had 6 blow ups on a buzz, no hookups though. Got a few on a jig, few on a 7" red shad and a couple crankin a fire tiger wiggle wart. All in all a slow day only had 7 or 8 fish, largest went 2 1/2. Off the water at 11am.

Report: Fished out of thee break and found some fish willing to take the buzzbait. ,They are only slurping them. I waited for the tide to bottom and started hitting blade fish. Most of the fish were in 3 feet but very close to 15. The current was key. All were 2-3's. I was havin so much fun wih the blades I did not need to go to the frog until 2:30 when a 7+ munched happily. Best 5 went 16.5. The fish are as sick of the bluebiird skies as we are. Fall is around the corner. Keep it slow.

Report: fished the pro teen today with a great pro named Wayne and we had a fun day and caught a bunch of fish but no hawgs. He put me on fish and taught me somethings about cacching the hawgs on the delta. We got our limit, being 7.56 pounds and got 25th place. Even though the wind was blowing a 100 mph at the break his 2000 ranger handled it great. thanks NCBF for the pro/teen and thanks Wayne for a great day and hopefully we can fish together again.
