Water Temp: 55
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Primary focus for today was to see if spawn was on or near (staging). My answer was a definite "no bite" Used weenies, cranks, jigs from 8AM to 2PM at Italian, Old River to Victoria & Widdow Is. Outgoing tide, good water, 6 mph wind, 55 deg water.
Got 5 bites all day, 4 from one very aggressive 1.5 lb male that I eventually hooked.Tips: Take Team Dean's advice

Water Temp: 49-52
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I did not take the custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" out this afternoon since I was "on call" for my family. As nice as the day appeared to be this afternoon while I was walking the banks around Ladd's Marina and the Sail Boat club across the street. The jig bite was still going good, largest bass cuaght/released this afternoon went 6 lbs. using a brown jig w/punkinseed & chartruese power craw trailer. With the second month of 2011 almost gone I'm almost out of jig supplies as well. The water clarity still needs to improve from the last storm, but spring is coming soon. :-)
City: StocktonTips: Must keep looking for clearer/warmer water, sprint time is around the corner.

Water Temp: 49 - 52
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Still haven't serviced my Custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" yet and the motor told me so. I just worked my way out to 14 Mile sluogh and back. The jig bite is still on, though I lost every jig I used becuase still trying different knots to combine braid and flouracarbon. Just before typing this report I learned how to tie the Duoble-Uni Knot. It looks good, also applied superglue to it hopefully to help it to move more smoothly through the guides while casting.
I was getting bit from 5 - 10 feet of water using black and black/blue jigs and pork chunk trailers. All my jigs I lost this year were rebuilt jigs up to 1/2 oz. in size. Good excuse to buy "new" jigs soon. :-)
The coves along the main channel reached 52 degrees today and a little clearer. I found schools of bait fish around the sail boats and the graph showed fish were on them. Tried a small jigging spoon in about 8 ft. of water around these schools of bait fish, no bites. Crank bait bite hasn't started for me yet, but tried bumping the riprap with a firetiger pattern.
For me the bulky jigs worked better than plastics today, tried finesse up to 10" Power Worms with out a single bite.
City: StocktonTips: Look for clearer and warmer water. Keep the boat moter serviced so you don't ruin your fishing day. :-(

Water Temp: 49
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went out today and didnt even fire up the big motor, dropped the trolling motor and started fishing. Scratched out a limit for 13lbs dropshoting a 6" 082 red flake worm, tried other colors and never got bit. Not bad for my first time dropshoting i guess. Stayed in the marina all day, I know some big females gotta be there staging, maybe they will eat next time.
City: modestoTips: deadstick, shake short and gentle and deadstick again.

Water Temp: Cold again!!
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Rain, rain go away. Come back again another day, please. I've been tying flies for this years bass fishing season. This is the first year tying deer hair poopers and it is fun killing time waiting for the weather to get better.
City: StocktonTips: To service my custom Valco boat "BassBuster1" I'm have a hard time finding this particular model spark plug (NGK DPR 6EA-9), any suggestions?

Water Temp: 49 - 52
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched "BASSBUSTER1" out of Ladd's today noticed motor starting to sputter so did not travel as far as I wanted, time for service lol.
Any ways decided to work the main channel points before the wind came up. Looked for outside weed lines and drop offs. Black/Blue jig&pigs in 10 - 15 feet of water was the ticket for me out to 14 Mile Slough and back.
City: StocktonTips: Look for the warmer water temps, coves were 1 to 2 degrees warmer than the main channel. The north wind forced me off the water.
-
Water Temp: 50
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched outta Ladds. fished the shollow wood on the point to the main channel leaving Ladds on a jig and lost the fish, felt decent.Fished two more areas just off main channel with no bits, so i headed south. Went to victoria got one 4lber pn a corlina rig in 8' of water dragging a six inch worm, got one more bite and missed the fished, need to let the fish swim with it a little before setting the hook. The damn wind came up so i headed for home.Drug a jig in deep water most of the day with no bites.
City: modestoTips: night temps need to rise and the bite will improve.

Water Temp: 52
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Try this knot. I call it a Collin's knot. For any size line to any size line, but especially good for flourocarbon or mono to braid. For right handed person: Double about 4 to 6 inches of braid in your right hand. In left hand, hold the tag end of the mono or fluro, pointing towards your right hand. Twirl the doubled braid 7 times around the mono or fluro from right to left, starting at a point 3 inches from the tag end. Now, without letting go of the braid, take the tag end of mono/fluro and run it through the little loop formed at the end of the braid while pinching the mono/fluro to form a hard tight 180 degree in the fluro/mono. With the right hand, pull on the braid standing line and tag end simultaneously, while with the left hand, pull the standing fluro/mono against the braid slowly while providing spit or chapstick for lubrication. Maintain the 180 degree bend by pinching the bend point when drawing the knot tight. I have used this knot sucessfully on largemouths to 180 yellowfin tuna without fail. This may seem like and albright knot, but is not. Actually I was trying to tie an albright when a customers salmon got tangled in the prop and I had to cut the line and resplice. I have been using this "wrong albright" for over 20 years, and never broken it on a fish.
City: Half Moon Bay, CATips: With some practice, this knot can be tied blindfolded. Simple, easy to tie, very strong.

Water Temp: 51
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Rivers End at 6:45 am. So foggy on the water. Only 100 feet visability until 8:30. No Stripers busting on top, found one about 5 Lbs on a white spinner bait. Then started hunting Blacks. Got two early wacky rigged Sinko in 8 feet of water. One 5 lbs, and the other 3.5 lbs by 9am. Then not a bite until 1pm. Then I got a 8.3 lber on a purple finese worm out of a weed bed. A few minutes later got a 4 lber on a wacky senko. went another hour and got 2.5 lber on the finese worm. That was it for the day. Five bites, but over 23 lbs. Where are these fish on tournament days ? The difference is I was the only Bass Boat out there.
City: San FranciscoTips: Work them slow. Fish seem to be holding in 8 ft outside the weed lines.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Google or Youtube the Tony Pena Knot. It takes some time to master but well worth it. If tied properly it forms a cone shape that goes through the line guides better than any other. Again if tied properly it gives you over 100 percent line breaking strength. Test it for yourself, tie some 17lb floro to 50lb braid with a two foot leader and a flippin hook, put the hook on your traier hitch and set the hook like you would if you just got bit, the knot to your hook will break before the Tony Pena.
City: ByronTips: Take your time and tie it right!

Water Temp: na
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Double uni knot has never failed me. i've used it to join fluoro/braid, fluoro/mono, braid/braid, braid/mono, whatever/whatever.... and many combos have been different lb test. I normally make 6-7 twists on each side.
City: folsomTips: i'm inconsistent on super gluing the knot; mainly on the braid tag just to stop fraying. but never broke off or came undone even if it wasn't super glued.

Water Temp: 48
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Launched at New Hope - Fast running chocolate water, at least we didn't run into too many floating trees! Ran past Hog, Beaver, Sycamore sloughs looking for less chocolate...no hits, even in stained. Used everything in the arsenal. Guess I'll clean out and detail the boat.
City: FolsomTips: Wait a couple weeks unless you know exactly where to go for clearer water...we don't. May try Folsom Lake for some dropshotting since it's our backyard. But prefer the Delta.

Water Temp: not sure, maybe
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Yup, the secret is out, the secret fishing hole had many boats in her today (6 total), caught none in there, but heard that some of those boats were fishing tournaments, great take more of the big fish out of there and release them some where else. Very cold out today but fun time fishing with my Bass buddy, thanks for the food buddy.
City: LathropTips: Do the opposite of me I have been in a slump for about a month now.
