    Water Temp: 59-60

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: For a rainy afternoon the anglers from Basin Bassmasters still held a T.O.C. out of B&W marina. My partner Jason Rodiguez and started cranking just down from the marina next to the tulles and got out first two keepers. The cold front started coming in and the tide went slack.
We moved into Frank's, crankin, pitchin, floppin. Got our next bass (keeper). back to our first sport near B&W and picked up two more keepers. Our big fish was 3.78 and total weight was 10.44 to win our TOC.

    Tips: good luck

    Water Temp: 60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Took a gamble and tried to fish, knowing a rain system was going to pass through. Can't say it was a total success, but we were able to land fish throughout the day. Tons of dinks (I thought dinks were only caught during summer time), but we were able to pull out a few decent sized fish as well. All of our "quality" sized fish came from senkos. That phrase "the quiet before the storm" was about as literal as you could get. slow tide movement, no wind, could cover, and just a calm serene feeling on the water. PERFECT topwater conditions....only if the fish knew that too. I threw a popper and got strikes, but I couldnt get the fish to commit. A lot of the strikes seemed like tail slaps. I got anxious on my first strike, which started with a big tail swirl behind the bait, then one pop later...a big ploosh...but no fish on the other end. I got way too excited and pulled the bait away from the fish, and ended up sticking my friend with the lure. Tops, Cranks, ripbaits, and blades only produced small fish for me. Found a good senko pattern where you would cast it tight to the tule brush, and just dead stick it. Fun day, even in the rain, best fish went 4-1/4.
    City: el cerrito

Tips: Green pumpkin senkos either wacky or t-rig. water was calm enough for weightless presentation. Also had a decent shaky head pattern going too with a Zoom speed tail worm. While wacky wormin', use the "flick" technique as it falls to the bottom and just let it sit still once your line touches bottom. Watch your line just take off. too much fun!!!

Report: My first time on the Delta. After reading all of Cooch's articles on jig fishing and watching all his videos, had to give it a try. Made a two day trip of it, launched and camped at Russo's, Friday 9 Nov, wx was clear and sunny. Nothing on the jig. So thanks to the earlier report started throwing the chrome and blue RatLTrap. That was the ticket. Ended up with around 10, biggest going 3# for the day. Picked a few up in the East side of Frank's Tract and then all the rest in Taylor Slough. Saturday was another story. Cloudy and then rainy in the afternoon. Thought that was supposed to be good for fishing! Decided to explore some different areas. Tried Connection Slough and Holland Slough. Nothing on the trap and only caught a couple of dinks on the jig. (Brown WhaddaAJig with purple and black pork trailer ;) Watched the Christian Bass Anglers Club Tourny weigh in. They seemed to have no trouble. Winner had 18#'s +. Even got to meet both Cooch and Richard HookPoint Theil and thank them for all their postings. Great fun both days. Bass fisherman's heaven.
    City: Monterey

Tips: Don't go out without a map! Had to constantly keep checking it in that maze of sloughs and islands.

    Water Temp: 62.5

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out Wed 11/7 with a new friend who fish's in a lot of tournaments. Left out of Rivers End Marina at about 6am. Tide was rising until 11am. At first a couple of top water stripers near Clifton Forebay some follows but not much. Went to willows for nothing. Went to Victoria Island for a couple of small fish. Then headed up toward middle river and got a pattern going on white spook and white Pop-R . Got about 12 legal stripers and some fat Blacks. The stripers were skinny esp. considering the amount of shad in the delta. Came back down at flood tide and worked Willows again for the same results, zero. Tryed a few more areas near there and got a few legal blacks. Then went exploring some areas that I have never been before. Old river was the main one and not much happening. All told a nice day on the water and over 30 fish between Stripers and Blacks. I have never seen the Delta water so clear.
    City: Brisbane

Tips: With the water this clear You need to stay way back and make long casts. Plastics did not do much except dropshoting along the edges of the weeds. Work the top water baits real sloooow! Throw them and wait until the circle is 6 feet then just twitch it,let it sit. Spooks leave it sit and then work it real slow. About half normal speed. They will crush it !

Report: All the fishing shows and all the small talk with other anglers from years past, all have boasted that FALL time fishing is great. To be honest, I've had maybe one good Fall fishing season in my life time...maybe 2. It's not exactly a super slow winter bite, but boy was it tough out there on saturday. My dad and I were out there fun fishing and saw alot of boats from local tourneys and WON BASS. So maybe they took all the fish? Anywho, worked on my jerkbait technique (something I've never put much time and effort to learn) and boy was I glad i did. I didn't catch any big fish, but I was really impressed with how fun and easy JERK BAIT fishing was. Just worked tule islands with DEEP drop offs (20+ ft) and kept the bait paralell to the tules. I played around with the cadence and found out 2-3 second pause, then drag the bait, and pause again worked out best. Lost a really good sized fish at the boat, she just nailed it right before I was about to drag the bait again. If you've never tried the LUCKY CRAFT STAYSEE, now is the time of year to get your hands on one. These baits suspend with perfection, and dive deep enough into the fish's target zone. I ended up catching 12 bass for the day, while my dad couldnt catch anything. He got to the point where he just put down the bass rod and went crappie fishing. And when I saw him pull up 10 crappie+blugill in 5 minutes, I did the same thing. Bass bite was frustrating, but fishing with dad and enjoying the water made the day all good!!!
    City: el cerrito

Tips: When the bass aren't hitting, go for either stripers or crappie. Wish I was a better fisherman to give you a better tip....Good Luck everyone.

Report: Fished with a new club buddy on Sunday. We started the day looking for Stripers in Disco with no luck and after a few hours gave up and went bass fishing. It was a brutal day over all, my partner got one blade fish at about 10:00. Otherwise, not a bite to be had. After working the south delta most of the day on an out going tide, I suggested that we work our way back to the Franks tract area and water that I knew well and should hold fish. The tough bite continues for the next few stops Holland, Gino's point and Rondo's cut. When we got to the condo complex (Named because when a fish moves out, another moves in and all of my Devil Mountain buddies know where I am talking about.) I decided to break out the Bang and douse a beaver. Sure enough, I popped two keepers at the condo and my buddy got another. The next stop, produced another 2.5 pounder. With the day almost over, I told him that I had a striper spot to try. I couldn't beleave it when he popped to keeper in the 8 lb class on a tail spinner.

If you are tired of fishing alone, the Devil Mountain Bassmasters is the place to be. www.dmbass.com or call me at 925-639-7724

Next meeting Nov. 7, 7:00 at Legends and Heroes in the Diablo Creek golf course off of highway 4. Please come join us.

Tips: When the going gets tough, go heavy on the scent, I was using craw.

Report: Went out for a bit with the better half, been slayin em crankin the grass. Top was around 9 lots in the 2-5 range. Been a great summer/fall for cranks, blue and silver worked best for me hands down, though craw a close second. As always cover is the key, run the cranks right through!

    Water Temp: 63.5

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got to Rivers End Marina only to find 40 boats getting ready for a tournament. Got out 15 minutes ahead of them got to my spot off Clifton forebay, and got two stripers right away. One small keeper and a 6# keeper. Then here they came, not only the 40 plus boats from Rivers End, there were 60 boats from another marina. Over 40 minutes of boats flying by which put the stripers down and killed the bite. Headed off to find Black bass and everywhere I went there were boats parked on the spots. Went to middle river and discovery bay, all loaded with boats and all the boats complaining, NO FISH . I ended up with 5 bass that totaled 13#s. My friend with me got only 2 small fish. we got out before the tournament boats got back. When they came in the first few boats had No fish. We left before the rest got in. Blacks came on top water and spinnerbaits fished real slow. Stripers came on top water also.
    City: brisbane

Tips: get away from the crowd. should be a crankbait bite but it is not on yet. Fish topwater SLOW. Pop it and leave it sit, then pop it again. Spinnerbaits gently laid down, then just tick the tops of the weeds as it falls.

    Water Temp: 62-64

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Franks tract all day incoming tide for stripers is the key right now for me,look for the sparse "grass beds" not weed beds and throw 5-7" swim baits of your choice around them fish all sides of the grass front, sides, and behind.
You will see there is a pattern. No big fish but several keepers.

Tried for Largemouth very slow, no flip bite,no crank bite,Im only fishing outgoing tide might be better on incoming, caught several on senkos but all small, did catch one on a wake bait he was one inch bigger than the bait...

south water was 64deg west is 2deg cooler

    FOR STRIPERS>>>
    GRASS BEDS!!!!
    40+ fish today.
    City: elk grove

Tips: white swim baits cover water
    points
    tule bluffs
shallow grass beds near 8ft of water.
    good luck.

Report: Launched out of B&W resort, fished False River. Bite was slow, only hitting Senkos, no crank bite, no top water. Jig bite slow nothing over 2 pounds all in all a decent day for 3 people in the boat with over 30 fish but no real size.

Tips: keep moving with the tides, fish areas with easy access to deep water. experiment with colors. Use different colors throughout the day

    Water Temp: 61

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: My buddy and I went down to the delta today to target stripers. Incoming tide all morning. I caught a 7.2lb Striper in Franks Tract on a rattletrap. This was the only keeper we caught all day. We saw about six stripers in the 5 to 7lb range caught by other boaters in the Franks area throughout the day. It was not red hot but still a lot of fun.
    City: Citrus Heights

Tips: Look at the previous report for tips. All I know is, if you through a rattletrap long enough you'll run into a striper.

Report: Launched out of wimpys, slid own to horseshoe and sycamore area. Thanks to (Dobyn's Rods) spinning, 702 model, 1/4 oz jigs(woochie jigs). Caught some nice fish on jigs and basstrix(ayu) 6", 6/0 hook. Plenty of fish on reaction and slow presentation. Dopbyn's rod had the power and the sensitivity to get the job done(KUDOS).
    City: sac

Tips: Try reaction and slow presentation, sometimes both work well.

    Water Temp: 63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Had a mini tourney between friends. only 3 boats, but each boat had 3 people in it (too many people, not enough boats). So basically just 3 teams, best 5 win from a boat takes all. We were catching fish, but nothing worth bragging about. I did land a nice 6lber cranking false river. thought i had a nice pattern going until the current and wind combo had my boat all over the place. it was pretty tough holding on to areas to fish slowly. The other boats didnt catch much, and they even "cheated" by using live minnows. So it was a small victory for our team...
    City: el cerrito

Tips: Fish are really fat in the belly, reaction bites are good when you find that one school. stuck with tullie berms that had quick access to deep water. caught almost all on cranks. Anything with chartreuse worked for me.

    Water Temp: 65

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Here are some striper tips,
I have read recent reports and this may help some of you.
I DID FISH A WEEK AGO AND IT WAS GOOD ON INCOMING TIDE AND SLOW ON OUT GO,THERE WAS VERY LITTLE CURRENT OR TIDE FLO THAT DAY.
    City: elk grove

Tips: Here are some things to think of.
Stripers like current,if it's not moving find a better spot.
Stripers like when current is blowing into a bank forcing food into the bank much like a big large mouth ,they can corral the bait easier this way.
Try topwater in the A.M spooks and pencil popers will get bites.
Do not set the hook untill your rod loads up!!!!!Some fish may swirl 2 or 3 times before crushing your bait.
If you fish like this 20-25lb test or 65lb braid is best you need 3to4x strong hooks and better split rings to handle the very possible fall monster that may crush your bait.
Top water is your best chance for a big one>>>>

Now for some action rattle traps and small swim baits will work well right now.
    Fish 1to10ft of water.
    Use 10-15lb line.
    Fish bays Franks,Sherman,BIg Break,Mildred Island
Fish Rivers and sloughs San juaqine,Mokulmne,Beaver,Hog,Potatoe slough.
    Parralell tule or rock banks.
Throw in and around weed beds.
    colors:
Rattle trap crome when sunny and water is clear.
Chartruese or white when cloudy or muddy water.
Swim baits shad colors or chartruese colors will work.

Spooning will work too right now 1.5 oz perk minnow trout or chrome and black or blue.
    10-30ft.
    Use 15lb test.
Spoons,Rattle Traps,Swim baits will catch more fish average 1-10lbs with a occasional big one.

The big key is you must have bait if your not marking bait, leave and find some!!!!
Look for Birds diving that tells you stripers are pushing the bait up to the surface.
You may see stripers boil at this point throw a swim bait in there and hang on..

Guys please think before blasting your boat full speed to feeding Stripers if you ease up on them we can all catch more fish instead of scattering the bait and having to wait for the bait to re ball up to begin hammering them again.
THis is way frustrating last week a boat did this several times in one area where there was alot of fish, sure you catch one or two quick ones like this but ive caught 25-30 fish in a spot if the bait dosent get scatterd by our boats.
Please ease up and respect other fishermen.

They are gorging on shad think shad..

If you are not a lure caster

Fish in the bays with cut bait,
Fish on sand bars or ledges.
slider rig will cath a bunch.

    Troll with big rapalas.

The biggest thing is please let go any fat plump female stripers as they are the future of this fantastic fall oppertunity.

If you use bait use big hooks so you dont kill little fish that would tend to swallow the hook.

hope this helps some of you..

well time to sleep im off to the delta in the morning.

Black Nitro if you see me ask and I will help you..

    good luck.

Report: Fished out of Tracy Oasis. First time on the Delta without a guide. Launched at 7:15 ran up to the rock dam on Grant Line for some stripers, but to many boats. Went after black bass and fished a few different spots 4 small ones all off the rocks with crank bait, spinner and senko. Ran back up to the dam and a slow day turned fast with a double hookup on 7# stripers, they were busting bait on the surface and didn't matter what you through caught them on traps, skitter walks and even a saltwater Hedon catch 2000. A few other boats moved in on us and the bite slowed after a while to mostly shakers.
    City: Danville

Tips: Don't move in on top of somebodys water.

    Water Temp: 65

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Started to watch the Raider game and not far into it Raiders down 14-0. Called a buddy and we decided to go look for some stripers. Launched down south fished nothing but points, some with shallow drops and some with deep drops. First 10 casts and had a 10# on and boated it on top water bait. My buddy got a 7 and then we only had all the rest just short of keeper size or way less! Threw almost all top water baits the whole time, did get a few 2-3 lb largies on rip baits, but spook was the main ticket. Just a great afternoon, weather was perfect! Two of us totaled about 25 fish with only the 2 keeper stripers. The big ones may not be down south yet. Was much better then watching the Raider game!
    City: Tracy

Tips: I love catching a good keeper striper when there is bank fisherman watching, then releasing the fish and they just have a fit! I just say I want to catch it again when it is a 20 lber.
