Report: thanks for the tips george, you left not one. here's a tip, use the weight formula by measuring length X length X girth divided by 1200. Here's another tip, senkos for the big fish on high tide.

Water Temp: 72-73
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: after a few weeks of deep water lake fishing, and not catching many fish worth braggin' about, finally brought my boat back to the delta. it was unreal the amount of quality bass that hit my lure, especially after battling the 80+ bass boats on the water. finally got my first 20+ lbs bag of fish, (easy for most of you here, but has been a challenge for me). Got a real nice crank pattern going near franks, and instead of burning down the bank, I stayed on fishing spots a lot longer, and plugged away as the tide was falling. picked up on a really great pattern where I would pull out a fish with crank, then stay in the same area with a weightless fluke. the fluke would was a great follow up bait and helped put the bigger bass in the boat. I noticed that each time my crank would hit the water, little shad or minnows would fly out of the water. So that's what gave me the idea to toss a fluke. 20+ fish pulled into the boat, best five going over 20lbs (only had my bogo grips to give me an approx weight)
City: el cerritoTips: stick to isolated tullie clumps and just watch the water for a bass ambushing the lure. too much fun!!

City: DavisTips: We tried top early, cranks and spinnerbaits but caught our fish on drop shot. Franks was our area for today.

Report: Nice try buddy. I don't think anybody will be giving you any fishing information until next week. There are tournaments on Saturday. You will just have to get out there and fish to find out what is happening in Franks.

Report: Hey blue daddy ranger, I really enjoy your postings and feel that you have good knowledge out on the water. I have a question for you. I fish mostly on the south side of the delta up to about fourteen mile. I have no knowledge of franks and was hoping to get out all day tommorrow to give it a try. where do I start and what type of water to I look for? It sounds like you throw your wake bait a lot which I do not. And it also seems like you tend to stay near visible structure like tullies and weed mats. I know that many people fish in the middle of franks but its all so overwhelming. Any info would help. thanks a bunch.

Report: Fun fishin with the wife today. About 10:30 get a nice jig bite around Franks. Turned out to be a nice 8.8 lbs. Moto mike has a bad back so I went with the wife. Bet he wishes he was there. It would have been a dollar fish for sure. Lots of different color jig worked but the depth was the key today. 15 foot.
City: orangevaleTips: You need good current and depth. Slow down and throw that wadda jig.

Water Temp: 70-73
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of B&W and headed for Franks. Really windy started fishing new water around franks. Noticed that the water temps have dropped to near 70 degrees, I wonder if they're dumping water in the river for the salmon run? Caught a nice 8lb 8oz girl on a lipless crank but the others were all small around 2 lbs. Best 5 may have gone 16lbs. My buddy Paul also caught a nice 7 or 8lb stripper on a lipless. Posted pics of the 8lb 8oz but she is really thin and wonder why she is so kinny. She should weigh closer 10lbs by now.
City: EDHTips: Fish new water and enjoy the day with friends

Water Temp: 72-74
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got another late start out Russo's,, bout 8:30 after BS'ing with the boys at the dock.. Tide was low a falling, no wind, water has cleared up a lot. Hit some docks in Piper with only a few little guys. Moved out to the track and saw a few followers and had a couple short strikes on the swimbait, but nothing impressive and only a couple in the boat. About 1030 the tide had bottomed and just started moving in,, now there was a slight breeze. Pulled up on a tule island and figured I'd give the drop shot (MMIII) a go.. bam, first one goes 6-7. I put her in the tank hoping to get another goodn' quick for a group photo,, 1/2 hr goes by and I get a couple rats and a 3,, then I stick another big dog off some wood,, she goes 7-10. I'm ready to head in cuz I don't want em in the tank any longer than neccessary. As I make my way around to the last unfished area I see some matted weeds and pick up the 797 magnum grass rod w an 1.5oz penatrator and a CA420 beaver.. Into the mat I flip and THUNK! She explodes on the hookset destroying the mat. I hadn't seen her yet but she felt big. Finally get a look and there's no way I'm gonna swing this one in..Reach out for the lip and she goes 9-1. I head back to Russo's for the flick and let em go back out in the track. Decide to give the Wake Jr. another try. The fish were repositioning with the incoming tide. Two hours later I finally found a few out in the current off a small island, stick a 3-11, 3-12, 3-15 and a 6-0 and that was pretty much it for the rest of the day. Best five went 33lbs1oz
City: TracyTips: How is is that wednesday fish instinctively know not to bite on sat or sun????? If I could ever figure that mystery out....

Water Temp: mid 70's
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Paradise at 6:00a. Found a weed flat on the San Joaquin as the tide started coming in and started swimming spinnerbaits/chatterbaits over the weeds and fishing the edge with Rat L Traps. In less than an hour, caught 11 keeper size bass and loss several too. Caught a bunch of small ones too. Biggest ones around 4 lbs. Best 5 around 17+ lbs.
City: dixonTips: Thanks god for 50 lb braided line. Had to drag most of the fish out of the weed flat.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got a late start launching at Russo's bout 8:30 w high water. Tossed a big worm around some docks and picked up two close to 4 each and two little guys. Then went out in search for a big swimbait fish that didn't happen. Saw lot's of 3-4lb followers but none would eat. For some unknown reason I reached for my spin rod w 10lb Seagaur and a drop shot Robo. Tossed back behind the sparse tules into the thick stuff, about 2 ft of water, and get a tick. I set, she feels alright, then my drag starts to zzzzzzing. I'm thinking I'm about to get worked over on this sissy rod by something probably not much more than 3 or 4 lbs... Then I get a look at her and she's a toad, wrapped up in tules, I give a little and she comes out on her own,,, lucky me,, she goes 8lbs8oz.. I poke around a little more and pick up a bunch of rats and another I guessed bout 3 3/4 on the drop shot. I don't want to keep her in the tank for too long so I head back to Russo's to get a flick and release her. I pull out on the minnkota and start tossin the Wake jr. around the docks,,, Kawoosh.. it's big and it's wrapped around a pilling.. Get her in the boat,, another 8lbs8oz even..a much longer fish w a big head just nothing in the middle to fill her out. No doubt a recent transplant. Toss the drop shot around the docks and get another 3 1/2... Head back out to the track looking for a big swimbait fish again and got just a few little ones,, shoulda stuck w the drop shot... Best five about 28lbs

Water Temp: 80
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: After a succussful Clear Lake trip on Thurs/Fri, we tried our luck in the Frank's tract area on Sat/Sun (7/28,29). Caught about 15-20 fish each day in the am (only fished half days). They were mostly small (up to 4 lbs). Fished the top of the incoming and outgoing tides on tule islands and found fish taking our texas rigged sweet beavers, senkos,Ikas, and spinnerbaits. Also caught a few on droppshotted wacky senkos in the deeper 15' areas adjacent to the tule islands. Still learning the delta, but can see all of its potential that is talked about. The frog bite was not happening on the mats we fished? Anybody having any luck on frogs?
City: San Diego, CATips: Ikas and senkos near the Sugar Barge wall. Sweet Beavers and dropshot near channel tule islands. Spinnerbaits midday windy areas near tules.

Water Temp: 70-75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Jason, Terry and I fished out of B&W at 5:45am with the winds blowing light. I gave the two some tour of the delta and some hints were and how. First to get out of the wind and hit some rocky banks and tules. With the high tide coming in it gave us sometime to try our frogs, spinners, spooks and buzz baits. We stayed close to the banks using sankos and craws in dark colors. Jason hit one that broke his rod tip and Terry got his bass working the points, rocks and tules also

Water Temp: 80?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I'm so sore. Headed out yesterday morning in what turned out to be an all day affair. Launched my float tube at 8am from Beacon and began hitting fish in the shaded areas behind the docks. Fish were hitting my jig and weightless t-rig senkos. Took a break from the water from about noon to 130pm. Launched back out when the tide started coming back in. Found a mat and tried to flip my senko into one of the holes. Senko landed ontop of some floating dead tules and BOOM!!! A fish just exploded on it! Turned out to be best fish of the day, 5+lbs. Waded the docks a little more and waited for the rec. boats to come back in. When it looked like most of them were in, I set out to the tulle wall across from the levy. From there, the fishing was insane. Every fish was at least a 3lber. All in all, a great day on the water! best 5 - 18lbs. My best limit ever!
City: SFTips: Get a tube. I love it. Senkos and Jigs did the trick for me. Target the shade. Under mats, docks, in the tules. Understanding the tide definately helps!
Being able to spend the whole day in basically the same area taught me a lot about how the tide affects the position of the fish. Thanks to everyone for the input!
