Report: From Lake Camanche
Lake Camanche is now at 89% full with an elevation of 228.96′. Lake Camanche’s release was approx. 365 C.F.S. while receiving approx. 140 C.F.S from Pardee Lake. Pardee was reading at 98% full this week, again at the time of this report. Some guests are reporting warm water but not stating the temperature.
It’s been a slow fishing week due to hot weather and lots of boaters visiting the lake.
NOTICE: A gasoline leak has been detected at the North Shore Marina. At this time and for the immediate future we are unable to sell or supply gasoline from the north shore marina due to this leak in the pipeline. We have shut off the pump to avoid contamination of the lake. Since the leak is on a section of pipe under water it will not be repaired until the lake level has dropped enough for technicians to get to it.
NOTICE: Gasoline is not available at the South Shore Marina due to a much-needed update of the pumps.

Report: From Glory Hole Sports
Camanche
The Trout fishing has slowed some as the hot weather picks up. You can still find a limit of Bass or Bluegill if you put in the time. Throw top water lures like the Whopper Ploppers being my favorite first thing in the morning then pull out your drop-shot rod in the afternoon.

Water Temp: 50
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Tough fishing , the water is muddy and cold. We threw the kitchen sink at them and boated 2 spots around 2lbs on a drop shot.
The fish we did graph were glued to the bottom on island ledges.
Once it clears up a bit the fishing should improve.

Report: From Cooch's Fishing Camanche bite still strong! — at Lake Camanche.
February 2 at 6:49am ·
Took another day off from The River to head up to Lake Camanche, to continue our field testing of the new TNT S20 jig pattern and just CATCH some bass! We didn't catch any of the bigger fish we've been catching up there during previous high sky days, but on this leading edge of a new storm rolling in day, we caught 4 nice quality largemouth ta go with our eight, 2-3 pound Spots. The fish were scattered all over, in 16-30 feet, on the back side edges of ledges and humps with big trees and brush piles. Ya had ta git that jig down in the tree and yo-yo it up and down the limbs ta git bit. 1/2oz Waddas, inside of 20 feet and a 3/4oz Football, both tipped with a Yamamoto 208 Watermelon Red flake Flappin Hog was the ticket. Bob also caught a few suspended spots dropping his S20 Spade worm on a dart head right down on their noses when we could see the arches on his Hummingbird. Camanche is fishing great right now, as are a number of our Northern California lakes. The Delta is fishing really tough right now, it will bust open very soon, until then, ya owe it to yerself to head to one of our foothill lakes and go have some fun!

Guest columnist Michael Coleman of www.RBBassing.com gave his account of fishing Lake Camanche in his report at http://rbbassfishing.net/bass-fishing-reports/lake-camanche-fishing-report-by-michael-coleman-2/
“1/18/17 Air temp 36, water temp 48, water clarity 3’ main body and up the river 0 clarity”
“With one of the biggest storms in recent years just coming to a halt I saw an opportunity to fish my home Lake Camanche. In the morning it was socked in with fog and had a very cold north wind. Air temps were in the mid 30’s and the lake was on the rise in a big way. I was not too sure what I was in for since the lake came up 20’ or so in the past few weeks. I wasn’t sure if the fish would move up with the cold weather and dropping water temps. I started on south shore bluff wall in 30’ or so and not even a nibble. The bluff wall came to a point and a shallow cove so I tossed River2sea jig with Bass Assassin pure craw trailer in about 12’ of water and Booooom a nice fat 4 lb. largemouth was in the boat. I then started targeting the new cover that hasn’t been in the water for years and the bigger largemouth were there! The fish were shallow in the 12’ to 17’ range and the dropshot began t play a huge part and caught the big fish! I was dragging the gig every now and then and I would use my Lowrance see a arch and drop my Bass Assassin lit’l Tapper in watermelon red down on them with about a 1’ leader and ¼ ounce weight. I was targeting the spine of the points, but it seemed the fish were on the side of the points farther back. There is still a ton of good fish on the south shore islands they are getting heavily pressured and are a little harder to catch. All in all it was a great day. Staying to the north will find you the cleaner water and some better fish.”
We thank you for the detailed report Michael!

Report: From Lake Camanche
The storms kept rolling in with lots of rain and high winds which didn't make for the best fishing week. The lake levels have been crazy too. Due to flooding concerns EBMUD engineers dramatically lowered Lake Camanche in anticipation of the continual storm surges. Since Wednesday January 4th the release from Lake Camanche was approximately 5,000 cubic feet per second! That dropped the lake level down to 64% from 70% as of Monday 1/9/17. As of Sunday 1/8 Pardee Lake has started to spill over. Pardee has also increase their releases which has already made a difference in the level of Lake Camanche which as of this print 1/10/17 has brought the lake level back up to 68%.
The California Dept. of Water Resources is estimating 12,816 cubic feet per second of water is flowing from Pardee into Lake Camanche. Those of you that would like to keep track can go to: http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/reservoirs/RES

Friday 1/6 Mt. Lassen release 2,400 lbs. of trout with 800 lbs. planted to the pond and both shores at their boat ramps. Another huge release of 3,000 lbs. is expected this week before the weekend. Watch our FB page for the plant update. https://www.facebook.com/LakeCamanche/
Dave Gliebe was out with other bass anglers the 1st of the year and caught this monster 13.5 lbs. large mouth. I have to apologize for the late post but it took me awhile to track Dave down at Bass Pro in Manteca to get his permission to post his picture. I don't have the particulars of what and where but you can always stop in and ask for him in the fishing department. He release this beauty unharmed back into the lake.
Above: Kody Sackett of Ione got in before the storms to catch this very nice stringer of trout from the pond using rapala on Friday 1/6. Total weight of stringer was 11.36 lbs. with the largest coming in at 4.71 lbs.

We received a another big fish plant for the holiday weekend! 2,250 lbs. of Mt. Lassen trout was delivered on Friday 12/23 with 750 lbs. each to the pond, and both north & south ramps.
Heavy rains and warm weather will keep Lake Camanche capacity up to 70% or possibly raising higher . Lake Pardee has been releasing large amounts in anticipation heavy runoff to adjust for flood control. Lake Camanche has been receiving 1,463 C.F.S. from Pardee and Camanche in turn has also been releasing heavy flows into the Mokelumne River at a rate of 1, 346 C.F.S. Lake Camanche’s elevation as of this report at Camanche was 217.15 which puts the lake at 18.35′ from the spillway. Water temps was reported as 52-56 degrees.
mrs-lenard-12-31-300x400Nathan Lenard was out with his family and gave us a report of his trip. “Did a crappie only trip today at Camanche with the family. 1:30 pm or 20 fish was our stop time. Started fishing just after 8:00 am. Finished with 20 by 1:10 then we noticed two hitchhiking fish as we reeled them in. 22 fish came home. Best depths were 13-18′. One triple two doubles. Great tasting fish. Great meat gathering trip.”
James Sanchez asked Nathan for his secret which Nathan replied, “ no real secret. Grubs with a 4′ 10 lb. leader trolling 1.2-1.3 mph. 40 feet setbacks with a fishy scent. Yellow power egg in front. No dodgers. You troll over the schools they’ll come up and fish on.

Water Temp: 55-56
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Long cold front early morning, misty and foggy. Launched at 8:15, missed the morning bite. Had my Navigation lamps up until noon. Launched at South Shore, water level was up compared to last year (68% full) Lakemaster map -17 feet (not too bad). The bite was not on, Fished the south end mostly, 20-25' depths off main lake points. Humminbird was showing suspending, stationary fish 10' above bottom, Tied on a Pearl colored Norman Deep Little N crank bait and couldn't get anything, 3" bluegill Storm swim bait, still no luck. Drop shot had some bites but couldn't get fish to commit. Boated over some deeper water but nothing showing on the sonar, went back to 25-27' range and found fish. Moved around some, tied a few more lures on but they just weren't in the mood.
Tips: I would try spoons between 25-30' as the water gets colder. Definitely bring some warm clothes.
