Water Temp: 70-75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got on the water approx. 6 a.m. overcast/heavy fog. Headed to small islands near dam fishing points and shoreline with Green/Purple Senko rigged with jighead.Water was very stained from algae and also very calm. Threw at some stickups about 5-15 ft and got bit jigging the Senko.Caught a 7 pound LMB.Fished along more shoreline and different areas with nothing. Weather cleared and got hot! Bite died down.
City: OxnardTips: This experience showed me you can catch them in the summer! And BIG ones too! Early in the morning and probably late afternoon.Early morning with dark baits due to stained water and fog.I'll admit, the stealthy approach worked for me.It was very quiet out there.Hope this helps !

Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Wow I went camping for 5 days and it was dead on that water. No one caught anything first few days. There was a 7 1/4 lb in the morning on a night crawler and on my second to last day I caught some 5 pounders and one 3. mostly on robo's that I literally had to leave out there for 1 hour before a got a hit. Bass where full of shad and for good reason because the lake is filled with them. Use your loudest lures and buzz baits also use a strong attractant for that extra dirty water. I used scent on my girlfriends night crawler and she was catching perch when no one else was.
City: OCTips: loud shad like baits. I used a chatter bait in shad color and scent with my worms. even started putting flukes on my buzz baits. TOP WATER is dead right now so hit them in the mid 10 to 20 feet of water weightless worms for a slow fall. If you can get a hold of some live shad that is the way to go but I did better with my slow buzz and chatter baits. Good luck!

Report: Tough day for me. Tossed frogs, buzzbait, jigworm, cranks, nothing.Saw a bunch of them busting on top, but no takers. Water was very stained with algae everywhere I went. One guy said he caught four.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Found water clear or stained. Not as bad as it was. Caught one on a dbl. buzz and dumped another. Caught one on a swimbait, one on a worm and two on Cranks. No size to speak of as the best fish was maybe 3 pounds....Off the lake by 10:30. I just kept moving along. It was a slow start for us but it was okay just catch'n a few where I thought they would be.Start shallow and work it on out as your day goes on.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I fished the night tournament on Saturday night and the water conditions remain unchanged. The wind blew all day so when my partner and I got on the water we started with cranks. We had a limit in 30-45 minutes but once the sun went down we struggled for the rest of the evening.I caught a buzzbait fish and another crank fish around midnight and again we struggled. Last place my partner caught two fish on worms and we came to the scales with a meager 12+ pounds. Hats off to those who found the better fish as all the teams weighed in limits.
City: OjaiTips: Shad colored cranks during daylight/ crawfish colored at night. Fished parallel to bank just on the tops of the wood. Black buzzbait was my only topwater fish.

Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I was out Saturday fished East shore to no avail. Threw everything: Top,Jigheads,Drop, nothing! Then went to Station Canyon fished the South shore and coves and finally got one with the jighead/Robo oxblood worm. Used the advice Mr. Ripa gave me a while back, fish both sides of points in 5 ft. of water. The weather was cloudy at first then cleared. Saw quite a few boats out. Bite was tough today. Could it be that the bass are returning to their old selves? Pressure or just deeper?
City: OxnardTips: For me, this week the jighead/oxblood worm worked for one bass. And it worked the same way with a green/Prpl. Senko two weeks ago too. Had one LM and one Spotted along with a pretty big sunfish. Sure miss your guys' posts! Keep it fun!

Water Temp: 77.5--mid 80's
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The water has turned an ugly greenish color as there is an algae bloom of sorts going on right now. Prior to this the fishing was pretty decent for numbers of fish on worms/cranks/swimbaits but right now it is mighty tough out there. Took out a fellow angler for a days fun and it ended up closer to work. I ended my 13 hour day with a couple of limits for myself and one limit for my co angler. Our morning topwater was nonexistant and when we switched to worms I was surprised by how much the bite had changed in a week. In our case we had shad in the area we were fishing and the bass were literally flopping around on the bank after chasing the bait into the shallows. When we fished tight to the bank we caught a few but even that didn't last. As the day progressed it was evident that the fish had vacated the shallows and we started catching them further and further offshore. By the time the wind picked up the fish were back on the bank and much more agressive but that was the last two hours of the day.
City: OjaiTips: Don't give up on topwater as it seems to be an on or off thing. Oxblood Robo is still a good bet but try it wacky style on a dropshot for more bites. I have had some big girls behind my trout baits for three weeks now but none commited only 3-4 pounders on swimbaits for me at this time.

Water Temp: 68.5
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: The fish have been moving around and are as unsettled as the weather. Three weeks ago I was into good numbers. Then the heat hit and the fish moved out into a total summer mode and now this week with rain and much cooler temps the bite is some what better. I have had some limited success on early morning topwater but the fact that the fish have all the shad the want to eat in the shallows has made the bite on " artificials " just that much tougher. One week the eat reaction baits the next week ripbaits but it has been a steady pick with a plastic worm. Sometimes shakey head works better than dropshot but the worm is the same. Oxblood light red flake! If I had any advice to give to a person who would like to catch a bass here it would be this. Buy some brown 1/4 oz. Burrhead jigheads from tacklewarehouse along with some 6 inch fat and 4 inch straight tail worms in the oxblood light red flake color. Get some mega strike or other actractant and your set. It is very easy to use the burrhead and since it is weedless it is a good way to search the area first. Once you know where all the brush is you can go back over the same water with your dropshot. I'm glad that the shad are making the bite easier for some but if you are not using bait you will have to make the fish react as they are pretty well feed right now.
City: OjaiTips: Fish fast in the first hour....back off and worm until 11:00 or so and then haul out your big top water punkers and trouts etc. as the fish seemed to ebb and flow with the baits proximity to the bank. Seeing clouds of bait in the shallows makes me keep on moving until I find a nice sterile point where the fish are waiting for some action....Right now for me anyway...the points are better than the quiet water that looks so juicey in the backs of the coves....lots of grass starting to emerge and the normal morning topwater thing is days from happening...

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Lived in Ventura as a kid and went to Matilija Reservoir north of Ojai once on a camping trip back in the early 60's. Anyone know if it holds any decent bass or if it even gets fished much? Or is fishing even allowed there anymore?

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: At first the Great Lakes were very concenred about the Zebra Mussels and now the fishing for Bass in the great lakes is better than it has ever been. There is no obvious way top kill off the Quagga short of draining the lake and starting over and then there is no guarntee that they would kill all of them. Lake Casitas has been a good source of revenue for the city of Ojai for many years and can continue to do so for eternity. It's time to learn to evolve and accept those things that cannot be changed. some intelligence needs to be applied and quit panicing over something so trivial. Bass fisherpeople contribute a great deal to our economy and should be appreciated not punished.
City: BurlingtonTips: Tight lines

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Look it up on the internet. The Quagga can be spread by birds that migrate. I guess it's the boaters fault!
City: VenturaTips: Fish in a different county. Pretty soon Piru and Cachuma will be closed and San Luis county is having a meeting next month to talk about closing their lakes also.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Windy when I left the S.f. valley but dead calm at the lake. Water is up and the main ramp is in use. Water was mid-50's and slightly stained. Started in the back of Chismahoo Creek and got 1 shallow bite on a Fatzee (2-1/2 in...brown wth black flake) on a darthead. Had 3 other bites all day, all on dropshot worms. Didn't get any fish in the boat. Talked to someone at the ramp who said the water temp dropped 3 degrees from 2 weeks ago. He didn't have any bites all day but a friend landed 2 from deep water. This was the day after a cold, hard north wind and things were definitely off.
Tips: Be ready for tough boat inspections! I cleaned my boat thoroughly and barely made it. Clean everything including your hull. Fish deep and slow with green weenie and cinnamon brown/blue neon.
