Report: Talk about a humbling experience!!!! Just when you think your hot stu, a day like this comes along! For once I had the opportunity to go out in a nice bass boat with a riend and hit the water. We saw at LEAST a dozen ish OVER the 10lbs mark swimming in shallow and nesting! The advice I have here is..... be prepared to SEE not CATCH!! The ish are VERY wary and don't like company rom above. The only good chance you WILL have o catching right now are to ind some areas that have ish and work those spots over but good! See below or what worked or us or the ew we did catch.
    City: los angeles

Tips: There are really only two things that got us a ew ish here. I your a artiicials only guy then these were the best ideas we came up or the day. My least avorite which worked well was to ind a nesting ish and put a small sot jerk bait right against their nose and wait until the ish got mad enough to move it o their bedding area. When they put their nose down on the lure you better stike lighting ast beore they spit it out! I know this idea may oend some anglers, so I leave it to you to choose. I personally lean to the idea that this is a last ditch eort to land a ish ater a VERY tough day. I RARELY ever do this because I always eel that you can always ind at least some more active ish out there. The second idea worked only on one ish and it was the three o us just working the shoreline with "Shad Raps" and we just kept on casting. Now, or the best idea, which we were NOT able to pull o. Take a good shad net with you and bag some live shad!!! I you can ind a bait ball (we looked ALL day, but no luck)and get some in the boat, you WILL score some ish! And yes, we tried EVERYTHING else you could think o..... live nightcrawlers, plastic worms rigged anyway you can think o, crankbaits, jerk baits, twitch baits, topwater plugs, etc.!!!! Like I said just when you think your hot stu.....ugh!!! Good luck!

Report: Been having serious problems enticing the green ones into a bite. Was out all day Sat. and till 9:00 on Sunday. Started out Saturday with a big slaming bite on my Huddleston on like my 5 th cast. I had finished fishing the bait and was begining the lift for my next cast when a serious explosion and violent tug right at the trolling motor alerted me much to late to the fact that nobody told the fish to wait for the next cast. Fished swimbait alot without another tap on Saturday. Hooked and lost a fish on the glow/chart.ice jig in 35 feet. Caught a fish on a brown jig with brown trailer about mid day. I have had pretty good luck midday spooning in the back of Chismahoo and when I went there about noon there was a boat right on top of the spot with a guy spooning. I never got touched/neither did he or the other boat that pulled in so the spoon thing is dead until the water temps spark some activity. No fish on any other presentation this day. Did not fish any plastics. Came back Sun. with a different Huddleston with my stinger all ready...Fished it at the same spot for 10 minutes and ....tink....and gone...Damn. 2 casts later I get half a tink and that was my last bite for the whole morning. Don't know if the live bait boyz are making bait as I saw none on this trip. It is very tough...Ya just gotta pay attention at first light as that seems to be my only bite with any quality at this time. Unknown when the lock jaw will end as it's been tough for the last 3 weeks for me. with less than 5 fish in the day 3 weeks in a row. Need either rain or cold...I'll take either!
    City: Ojai

Tips: I think the swimbait bite is deep and that is why I have good to fair intial results when it is dark. I believe I need to drag the huddleston deeper after the sun light gets any penatration. I am just guessing as my research did not answer any clues.

Report: A wee bit Graphic Darrin but the reality is true. Now comes the BIG battle for all that paid for annual passes, advance camping sites, $40 to $50,000 on a new ride. Who at Casitas is willibng to refund even the annual pass costs? I am thinking it may be a 'too bad', that's life' situation. BUT you certainly can almost figure that you probably won't get back a "DIME" if they have their way about things. BUT!!! They will have available for a nominal fee, an inifficient, inadequate no live well facilitation 'rent-a-boat' for your use.. Go check the rental prices! Egads! So who in the H qq want's to rent a $80 proposed space rental charge for "your" $40,000 bass boat and only use it at their lake because if you take it out of the main gate, your DONE on this lake with that boat for the next year! What a shame.... Write your congressman and get these 'bleeding heart' I Hate Bass Fisherman of our planet!

Report: Fishing is great during the week. Wide actually, yeah the cold weather has pushed it back a minute, but only a minute. Should snap any minute.Big fish were chewing during the wind storm last week. My client got a 10.5 lb! It was great because there was no one around. No one at all actually.

Tips: If you hear about the lake being hot all week and go there on the weekend expecting the bite to stay the same, forget it. As soon as Friday comes the boat traffic is real bad and the bite shuts down. Yeah you can get lucky, but it is not the same.

Report: Fished april 1st. The day after I got home from Lake Shasta. My best day in about 2 months. Best 5 went 52 pounds on that stupid bread scale at the dock. I had 7 swimbait fish. biggest 2 were 14 # and 13#. My brother Paul fished the same day in the jet boat and had 40# for his best 5, all swim bait fish. Fishing is really really good. The worm bite is wide open, and fish are all over beds. Look at my website for pics tonight from this weekend, shaunsguideservice.com
    good luck and have fun!

Report: got on the water around 7:30 am and went directly to the cove just to the let o the sunken island. saw a large boil way back in the cove around the grass line. Threw a POP-R in a silver color right into that same spot, and boom!!! that ish just killed my lure. ended up being an 8 pounder. caught my second ish on the lats way to the west end o the lake. was using a small rapala that looked like a gold shad. that one was a hog at just over 10 pounds. all in all, it was a good day on the lake!
