Water Temp: 59.7
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Central Coast Bass Club -- 17 Boats
6AM start time --
3 tourneys going today and also a Kid's Fish Day but Coyote Ramp was open. Dismall looking morning with 60% chance of rain -- Weather was not that bad in the morning.
Hit the small island edges and hit at 6:30 then not again till 8:20 - Keepers but only 2 pounders. Used red flake craws and blk/red 6"plastic worms for bite. Seen several fish being taken but size was small. Moved off island and headed towards points where bite and size were much better. Drop shot with red flake/blk was working. Bed fish taken on several colors but nothing stable. Hit miss on line size and color. Good weights on points heading towards dam.
Rain at about noon but light. Cloud cover heavy at top of mountain hoping fish may react to change. Points holding bed fish and some taking good weights with some deligent time spent on one spot.
Finishing weights: Winner with 14-8, 5-7 boats with 12 plus - Big fish at about 7.0. Four boats with only one fish - two with zero.
Overall: Dinner at TG Fridays in Oxnard was good -- Fishing wasn't... Margarita is next stop next month.
City: Santa MariaTips: Bring black/red flake 6-8" -- A white/green flake small grub on 8 pound took big bass on a bed so it may be something to think about but scary on the line size.
Small Island is still a good area over weed beds on worms. Big Swim baits did little to nothing today --- Save the $35 for better water temps.

Water Temp: UNKN
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Heard that fish have moved in and were on bed. Warmer weather this weekend should prove a better bite. Water was clear and fish were seen in the 8-20' foot range.
City: Santa Maria, CATips: Swims were working for some. Creme or Blk/Red jigs at 20' were semi productive. Oxblood Robo's were still bringing in smaller weights but still good keepers

Water Temp: 57 - 58
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The bite got tougher out here since last week. There are bed fish but the past cold storm we had kind of messed things up. We still managed to catch around 15 each day. Texas rig 7 inch Oxblood Light Roboworms in 20-30 feet. There are bed fish up but they are small.
City: FullertonTips: Anglers Choice tourney was won today out there with 42 lbs for 5 fish. Guys are getting them on swimbaits right now. It's hit and miss though.

Water Temp: 59-61
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Some fish on beds, mostly males prospecting. My partner stuck a 5lb male on a bed.
Most fish staging, 15-25' of water, near spawning flats.
City: los angelesTips: Look for spawning flats out of the wind. All CBC members, bubblegum swimbaits in 100'.

Water Temp: Morning 57.9
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Pretty fun day out there today. My buddy and I fished from open until close and caught 35. The swimbait bite was slow. We had 2 7-8lb. followers on the Triple Trout but no biters. Throw 7 inch Black grape Roboworm on a Texas Rig in 5 - 15 feet of water. The bite is all day. In fact, as the day progresses, the bite gets better. We didn't catch any big fish but most of the fish were 2 1/2 pounders. We had 2 over 5lb's and 3 over 4lb's. Bed fish were all over but they were very small. The biggest bed fish we ran across was about 5 lb's and very spooky. 2 more weeks and this place is going to explode! Have fun out there and good luck!
City: FullertonTips: 7 inch Robo Black Grape/Oxblood Light Red Flake

Water Temp: 59-61
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Weather was mostly sunny and at times partly cloudy with calm to light east wind. Water still has slight green stain and some faint mudlines in some areas. Theres enough color in the water that it would be really hard to see deep beds. Lots of boat traffic.
Started with swimbait again and stuck with it for much of the morning but seemed like a long shot with bright sky, calm wind, and lots of boats running around. Did not have any follows or bites on the big stuff. Changed over to worm pattern and found it to be slow. My partner for the day, who I had been to El Salto with recently, started tossing a senko and he landed a nice 3 1/2 pound bass. I think he brought confidence in the senko back with him from Salto. Over the next few hours he used his confidence to catch 2 more solid fish on senko. I was shaking worms and mixing it up with jigs, cranks, etc, but couldnt get anything going. Pitching worms on points like last week was not producing. Finally late afternoon I pitched onto point and missed a solid bite, and little later hooked a big fish. It immediately came up a wallowed on top and luckily she ran out to deep water and not into brush or over shallow part of point. Made a few runs and dogged at deep color and then into net - 7lb 6oz on digital scale. I just posted the pic on this site. Caught on oxblood roboworm and 6# fluorocarbon. Overall a slow day only landed 4 fish but quality was good 3-7lbs
City: Thousand OaksTips: I didnt spend much time looking in the shallows but Im guessing I would have found them if I looked at enough places. I'll probably do that next trip....

Report: bigest fish to date 11pds 8ozs previous biggest fish 11pds 4oz black berkley worm

Water Temp: 58-59
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Weather was cold with air temp in the 30's-40's and rain showers in the morning, and 50 or so mid day with mixture of clouds and sun. Wind was easterly about 5 knots and water temp was 58-59 with about 4-5 visibility and slight stain- it seemed like the water was clearer than last week.
Started with swimbait again and had 1 follow to the boat from an offshore hump. This fish was easily 7-8 lbs, and very thick. She charged at the bait but turned off about 5ft from the boat and left a deep boil alongside the boat. Dang! No other follows or bites on swimbait.
Went looking for last week's worm pattern in the brush lines in 15-20' Did not get bit on this pattern and did not mark fish on the brush edge. Eventually found the worm bite and developed a pattern on secondary points in 10-15'. Landed 9 fish and had 12-13 bites. Got most fish shakin and the rest split shotting, 6-8lb line, and robos in oxblood lt red, MMIII, aaron's. Like last week they were all schoolie sized 1.5-3lb. These fish were all short fat football shaped fish- its nice to see Casitas so healty.
Tried senkos, rippin, jigs and a little spinnerbait and crankin for nada. Found some nice backwater type habitat with flippable brush and wood in the water and saw one small cruiser up shallow but no shallow bites. Finished the day under a heavy dark sky tossing swimbaits.
City: Thousand OaksTips: Bring your rain gear, wear layers, gloves etc - it was friggin cold! There was snow on the hills above Ojai and my wife called to tell me there was a hail the size of small marbles falling in Thousand Oaks.
As far as tips for the smaller fish- work the brush and figure out how the fish are orienting to it. Once you have an idea of the pattern you may be able to fish fairly fast because when you put the worm in front of them they readily bite it. Most of the bites occurred on the sink or within the first few shakes. I can only guess where the bigger grade of fish are, so no tips for the bigger fish.

Water Temp: 59-60 AM rising
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Weather was warm, clear blue sky, mostly glassy calm. Air temp was 75+. Water was lightly stained, green, and healthy looking with about 3-4' visibility. Tossed swimbait on points for first hr with no follows or bites. Put the big rods in the box and switched to worms and eventually started getting bit along the old brush line in 15-20', I was shakin and my buddy split shotin. Also tried rippin, jigs, and senkos- no bites. Cruised the shallows but did not see any shallow fish or cruisers. Finished the day out on the worm pattern. We landed 8 fish from 1-3lbs and probably had 11-12 bites -nothing big but lots of bites and a fun day. All our fish were on 4" and 6" robo worms and 6 and 8lb line. Color did not seem to matter too much oxblood, aarons and ayu all worked.
City: Thousand OaksTips: Focus on the old brush line and you have a good chance to find the school sized fish, but keep an open mind since the fish will likely change quickly with the weather and rising water temp. You probably wont get any big ones doing what we did, but I thought it was worth sharing the info for guys like me that want to go out and get some bites and have a fun day.

Water Temp: 56 -58
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Through Swimbaits the first half of the day with no follows, started drop shotting aarons magic reapers on wind blown points and boated some nice fish. A couple of 3's and 4 or 5 fish between 2 and 2 1/2LBs.
City: GardenaTips: Fish were good on the island where you can find rock points with fewer stickups. Fish Slow. Good Luck.

Yeah I know not as big as some but almost to the day I caught a 6.7 doing the same thing with the same type of lure. Had another come look but not other bites for the day. It was a nice fish to break in my new swimbait rig.

Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the afternoon session. Got a nice 4 lb. chunk on the Hammer right off the bat. Then nothing until around 4pm or so. Picked up 3 or 4 keepers in tight to the tules + brush with a chugger. No great size. Finished the evening off at the airport for another 2 lb. fish. My buddy picked up a 3 on the buzz and had another much larger fish blow up but not take it.
Didn't see any shad balls up tight - they were offshore a bit judging by the western greebies.
City: Santa BarbaraTips: Evening topwater. The pause effect of the chugger drew more strikes than did the steady retrieve of the buzzbait that day.

Water Temp: 74
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 2:00 to 7:30, caught multiple fish under 12" on jerkbaits, caught 6 keepers to 3 lbs dropshottin worms on points in Station and the main island. Shad are everywhere, deep, shallow, some so thick you can walk on em, so beware.
