Report: Fished Chabot or a ew hours to try and end the year with bang. Stated o ishing the dam with a jig and crawdad combo and elt a slight tap, but set the hook to nothing. Came around to alder pt. and ished some submerged structure I know o. First cast my jig got stuck in the brush, but inally came loose and I got bit right then. Set the hook and the ish exploded out o the water, then tried to burry back in the brush. Ater a quick ight I took some pics, weighed, and measured her at 7.4 lbs. and 22"/18". Im not sure i my scale is o, but I thought it was bigger that 7.4. Do those measurements sound like that o 7.4 lb. bass?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I walked the edges throwing a plastic worm at any piece o wood sticking up in water. Three hours no hits. Then walked up to a guy who just got there and he threw out a small rapla. Thrid cast he landed a 3 to 4 pound trout. Four casts later he nailed another 1/2 pound smaller.. Two o the biggest trouts I have ever seen in that lake. The irst one had red sores all over it digusting looking, 2nd one was very clean. The water has cooled alot sense last week maybe bass moved a little deeper. I,m guessing that they are about 25 to 30 eet. Who knows though I could not ind them...

The weather was ideal (very little wind)and was able to ish very thoroughly but no takers on Senkos or Texas rigs. I've noticed over the past years when the water gets murky, the bite seems to really shut o. The water is pretty cold too. No tips this time, but we tried!

    Water Temp: warm

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I went out on tuesday(10-8)rom 5pm until dark. The water looked pretty murky and the warm weather caused the surace temperature to me pretty warm. I started out around the dam area using plastics and worked my way to coots landing, ishing any spot that looked ishy. I caught a 10 incher in dense weed cover(the cove to the let o the coots landing doc) using a purple worm with brass and glass. I then headed back in the direction I came, ishing the same spots I had already ished, only this time with a popper (since the sun was setting). On my irst cast around the doc at alder pt., I caught and released a 19 inch bass, weighed approximately 4lbs. Two casts later in the same spot I caught a 12 incher. 3 bass in 2 1/2 hours at chabot. Although two were small, it suprised the hell out o me. I don't expect to catch quantity at chabot, but I have seen many quality ish. Although chabot doesn't really have any cover besides a ew docks, the vegetation has made or some good hiding grounds. I've been targeting the weedlines that descend into about 10-20 eet o water. I headed back on thursday ished 1-5 in pretty much the same holes. The wind and the cold weather shut the bass o compared to the hot stagnent weather on tuesday. No bites in 4 hours.

Report: To everyone concerned about Chabots Bass population Our next meeting with the parks Dept is in October. I will post the next bit o ino ater the meeting. I went out with the Biologists in the shock boat and much to my dismay my questions were answered by the results we surveyed. A boat load o small bass 3-5 inch but nothing between 6-12 inch range. The 2nd year o lie o a baby bass goes into the belly o a trouteater. Results in the second and third year ry dont survive because there is no protection or them. This will Change in January so keep posted and thanks or the responce I will try to get some dates established to better inorm all the volunteers out there so we can be ready to start the rebuilding process that Lake Chabot has desperatly needed or a long timeDonald C. Report: The reason nobody is ishing Chabot is simple. Check out Anglers edge on line and look at the planting reports. You will see that the ish are being planted 10 times as much at Quarry lakes compared to Chabot. As you might recall some months back Biologists were shocking the bass out o chabot to (establish a bass population at Quarry lakes)Total BS They needed bass at quarry because it was ished out in 2 months by meat ishermen not anglers. No ishy no isherman plain and simple. Want ish go to quarry leave Chabot to the shockers they can ind the ish. Any questions about this problem please eel ree to e-mail me. I have ished Chabot since I was 6 about 34 years ago. It is slowly being killed o by unethical acts by our parks department. Problem is we cant do shit about it but we are trying. I you care about the health o the bass population e-mail me or more ino
