Water Temp: 41
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hit it hard on Saturday. Fished Rodman Slough for 2 hours. Threw everything. Jigs, Huddlestone, Senko, Staysee 90's, Slow rolled Spinner-baits, Drop-shot. Not a bite. Moved to Rocky Point and repeated. Fished deep water, Shallow water, Wooden Docks, Standing Timber even punched laydow tules with a Sweet beaver - nothing.
Went out Sunday afternoon and headed south to fish Cache Creek and surrounding area. Didn't get a bite.
I think the water is too cold. If anyone has had some success I would love to know what worked and where?

Water Temp: 43 - 50
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Air Temp High = 60
Barometer Avg = 30.01
Wind Speed = 0mph - 5mph
Average Depth = 20 feet
Objective Today = Scouting Expedition Only
Lots of dead algae in certain areas. Drove around and searched for baitfish 1/2 the day in the north and south ends. Found one secluded hump with fish on it. I made one cast and caught one fat 3lb 6oz football then pulled up to go find more humps spending only 00:30 min per spot. Will post picture today. I found no large schools of shad or crappie on or near structure.
City: ModestoTips: These fish are ON THE BOTTOM and lethargic, so keep an eye on your electronics. Then keep your bait in front of their face. With consistent weather - it will pick up!

Water Temp: 43
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: My partner and I also fished 100% on Sat. Snowing on the way to the lake. Last time we fished here was like two years ago, could not take off the time to prefish. Talk about a tough bite. We had three bites by 10am missed all of them. Finally 11am got one in the boat. Saw the boat next to us boat two. We moved on. My partner missed 4 bites in a row and I missed a few more bites. Weigh in time the guy before us weighed in 24+ pounds and heard a roomer that someone got 28+ pounds. Great job guys.
City: San MateoTips: We got bit but could not hook them work the dropshot and shakyheads slow maybe let them take the bait longer before setting the hook, I'm thinking we were setting the hook too fast. fish were in the 17-19 foot depth. Good luck, hope the rain will take a break and the water warms up a little.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished 100% Saturday. Total blank. Between myself and partner, not one single bite. I was told to just stay home; should have taken the advice. Graphed fish, but could not get any takers on anything. Tried dropshot, darthead, shaky head, and a variety of cranks hoping maybe for some kind of reaction bite. Don't know what else to say. My hat's off to anyone who caught fish. Hardest day I've ever had there. Talked to two guys who had prefished for 2 days prior and they too had not one bite in 2 days. I must go and lick my wounds now.

Report: Fished the Won bass Vinyard this weekend.I have been fishing this lake for close to 10 years now and this was the toughest day I have ever had. not a single fish all day. I tried everything but mostly dragged a jig all day all over the south end from Rattlsnake to Jago.It took less than 7 pounds to win ON CLEARLAKE ?!
I did have a blue Herin try to eat my wake bait in the morning! Does that count?

Report: Fished Aba on Sun 1/20/08. My partner and I threw everything at them with not a single bite. We went north, south, east and west. 35 boats and eleven came in with nothing. The winners had 24+lbs, unbelievable? I guess we will need to practice more.

Report: Dead Battery in boat, left timer on live well for 3 weeks:), blown lower unit seal, nice wad of mono around my prop, truck would not start, fuel injector proplem, did I go home, heck no I jimmy rigged everything and got on the water at 2:00 pm and fished until 8:00 pm on Saturday and got 2 fish to 3 lbs(I must be a superfisherman, read last report:)) anyway how you catch a fish when the bite is this slow/bad is reaction or dead stick, when I say dead stick I mean toss your offering out there and eat a sandwich or drink a cup of coffee and do not move your bait for 3-5 minutes, its like fishing with live bait. I got one 3 lber on a mini C-rig with a 6 inch wormouth robo worm wacky style and a 2 lber on a water melon candy weighless Senko wacky style both loaded with smelly jelly and again I had to wait 4-5 minutes and not move it at all. I did try ripping for 30 minutes and cranken for about 30 minutes but not a bite oh and I did try a swim bait for about 20 minutes also. Saturday was dead calm, at 8:00 at night I did not have to touch my trolling motor and did not move for 30 minutes, Saturday at the same spot you could have surfed the white caps/waves were so high, very scary, I turned around and head to the creek but only had a hour to fish before the game.
City: San JoseTips: Tip #1 Plastics loaded with smelly jelly and dead stick it. Tip #2 Try to keep your offering off the bottom in there face but don't move it. Tip #3 wait unit water reaches 60 in Feb:)

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: You know the bite is tough when the minnow fisherman can't get a bite. The Redwood Empire Bass Club held their 1st tourney of the year on a chilly Saturday. Air temp in the morning hovered around 30 degrees. Out of 9 teams, only 1-15 lb limit came in. 2nd place went 9.28 lbs for 2 fish including the big fish for the day at 5 lbs. Almost everone who caught fish were using a jig and going as deep as 30'. Water clarity varies around the lake depending on how close you get to the creeks so you have your choice from clear to muddy. Check out all the weights at www.rebc.net and look for us next month at Lake Sonoma.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: fished off a dock in lucerne at my buddy's house. nothing all weekend and it was cold as hell both mornings. wind on sunday was blowing whitecaps and made casting into it nearly impossible. water was far clearer than i'd anticipated and shallow. area around the dock was no more than 5' deep. threw crankbaits slow enough to have them rippling just below the surface, swimbaits, jerkbaits with long pauses, senko's covered in "Bang!" drop shotted robo worms... not even a bite. kudos to those who got fish this weekend.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Ripped eight decent fish today and had one very nice jig fish. Today I fished the mid-lake area and found fish just about everywhere I stopped. My best 5 today went just over 14lbs. I observed several folks fishing for crappie but didn't see anyone actually hook-up at Kono Tayee or at Shag Rock. Sure seems like crappie fishing is slow compared to years past.
City: PetalumaTips: A decent shad scent is used on all my rip baits. I believe it definitely makes a difference.

Water Temp: 48
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Our club fished Saturday and found great weather but a tough bite. My partner and I decided to take a chance and stay on the North end to see if we could get a reaction bite from the bigger fish up North and it almost worked. I thought I could get a few bigger fish ripping a LC pointer 100 in shallow water first thing in the A.M.and our first three fish were 2.5 lb, 3.5lb and a 5+ with the biggest one coming unbuttoned at the boat. I was feeling pretty good at that point and then reality set in and 3 hrs and no bites later, I realized I should have went South. The rip bite died in the sun and with no wind and some pretty clear water for this time of year, the bite turned off for us. We tried swimbaits, speed traps, dropshot, shakey head worms and jigs with no takers. I finally was reduced to a wacky rigged worm to get the rest of my limit but I might as well of used a box of "Decon" since all we could find were rats!
I know the bite was better from the narrows South but I thought we could at least get 14-16 lbs fishing a few select spots on the North end. Oh well, as my wife keeps telling me....thinking is not my strong suit!
We ended up with just over 11 lbs but at least I got home in time to see the 49ers win one for a change. Probably should be thankful I didn't fall in!
City: UkiahTips: Go South young man!!!!! The fish on the North end do not want to bite.
One other thing I noticed was I do not remember hearing a single boat go by Corinthian Bay/Long Tule point area from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. Now when can any of you remember THAT happening on a sunny Saturday even in December?

Water Temp: 48ish
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: My buddy and I made a trip with the intention of splitshotting big minnows and seee what would happen. Jumbo minnows are expensive though. I figure they ran $1.50 apiece and I bought 4 dozen.......fairly pricy but it was a blast. My buddy dropped one down in 20 feet of water and caught a 2 lb fish right away. I missed several, lost 2 when I noticed that my #2 gami offset kept bending open------DOH! Switched to a 4ought offset hook, overkill I know and it looked kind of wierd, but it never got bent open! We fished 20' off deep rocks all day from redbud to henderson. We boated 18 fish to 6.5 lbs with 5 more up to 4.6 lbs. I fgure we missed as many fish as we caught. I would feel the fish bite and then run with the bait. Several times I freespooled the reel and let them run more. Swing on them and come up empty.
City: Yuba CityTips: split shot jumbo minnows is working now.

Water Temp: 49-52
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I had a very successful night fishing trip with a fishing buddy - we DIDN'T freeze to death!! Close however!!! The bass have experienced some freezing however as they arn't "thunking" the bait much anymore. We wanted to go Tues evening with the cloud cover (warmer night) but couldn't so experienced a very cold Wed evening with clear skies. The bite was best right at dark with Blade Runner and Rodstrainer jigs in Horseshoe Bay/Henderson area. I stuck a 7 even and a 5-5 and we each dumped 5's. He did land a near 5 and a 4 1/2. We did get several 4's and near 4's. It is always interesting to me how certain weight classes of bass feed on certain days and nights. We did not hook a monster to our knowledge. They might have fed more the previous night. But a real successful night (we quit at midnight) with 24 in the boat and a nice limit of almost 25 lbs. Best fishing was half hour before dark and 7 to 10 PM.
City: Yuba CityTips: Dress warmly when fishing the very cold nights - and days for that matter. You can always take it off, but you can't put it on if you don't have it!! When you are running from spot to spot, remember the term "wind chill"!!! Brush hogs were good as usual - I tried black/blue a lot. The jig bite was better as I suspected it would be in colder water. I threw Basstrix swimbaits some before dark but no takers. Fish are still moving some - areas that were good two weeks ago are slower now. Most quality bass were 15 to 20 feet, though I did try deeper water a lot. 2 and 3 pounders were shallower. Interesting, the last 3 we caught (I should say "HE caught", har), were the smallest of the night - 1 1/4 to 2 lbs. I think the quality bass feed earlier in the winter evening and then the smaller ones feel safe to try. I have experieced that on many winter night trips. Don't forget the Smelly Jelly!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I have been experiencing a pretty decent rip bite all around the lake over the last few weekends. A few Sundays ago I had a 24 fish day in only 3 hours of fishing. This past Sunday my numbers were down but the quality of the fish were much, much better. My best 5 for the day came in at 16-7. Big fish for the day was a 4-14.

Water Temp: 48-50
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Sun and Mon, Spoke to BFK (see photo's) when I arrived at Red Bud, they were just coming in at 10:30 am and I was going out, they had did well but had fished all night, cold and wet! I went out and got 13-14 fish to 4 lbs from 10:30 am to 8:00 PM. The 4 lber came at 6:15 pm and I started getting happy, the biggins are starting to play now but after the 4 lber all I got was 2 lb rats an my 6 inch long black blue jig, I mean this jig is big but all that would eat it was rats. Fished till 8:00 pm and said that enough stinging rain for me, if the toadies were biting I would stay in a hurricane or if I would of had some hot coffee!! Monday only got 4 fish to 4 lbs and I fished hard, I threw everything at them. The one thing I did not do is try the flats. The cool thing about Sunday was when they did hit that jig no matter how big they were it was a big thunk!! But I just started using braid and Floro on my jig rod so that may have been why it felt so much more aggressive.
City: San JoseTips: Black/Blue jigs & 6 inch warmouth Robo worms on drop shot, both with lots of Larry toe jam (smelly Jelly) sorry Larry:)
