Water Temp: 51-54
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Arrived in Lakeport around 7am with the air temp at 31 degrees. Supprised to see the water temp hasn't changed over the past 3 weeks. My goal was to break in my new Fenwick Elite series swimbait rod along with various types of swimbaits and get some experience using the larger baits. Threw them all morning and only landed 1 bass around 3lbs. The new rod is excellant and handles the large Osprey baits easily. Finally switched to plastics and caught 6 more around the docks, broke off a couple and lost another at the boat. The bite was very soft and tough to detect with all the wind. Talked to another angler late in the day who indicated they only had 3 bites all day.
City: Rohnert ParkTips: Fish still have not moved up. Water temp only changed 3 or 4 degrees throughout the day. Fishing slow with finesse baits was more productive than reaction baits.

Water Temp: Mid 50's
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got on the lake around 7am. Launched from Redbud and just fished the south. Went out with some friends. Hit the docks. Very first cast by Big V, fish on. 1.5(lb.) on a small Senko. 2nd cast by Johnson, fish on. 2 (lb.) on worm. We thought we were in for a 100+ day. Boy were we wrong. We caught about 10 fish between the 3 of us. Worms & Dropshots were the only thing working. I threw everything (Swimbaits, Blades, Crankbaits, Chatterbaits, Jigs, etc.). I had one bump on a Swimbait but no luck. Biggest fish of the day was probably pushing 4 (lbs.). The weather was good but could have been a little warmer for fishing. Water temp is not quite there yet. A ton of boats were on the lake so not a lot of choices on spots. Was there a tournament going on?
City: RosetownTips: Fish Slow. If someone is in your spot, give the angler the water and fish around them or move on. There is enough water for everyone.

Water Temp: 52-55
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: SlipKnot did'nt mention the best part of the Holder tourney; Saturday afternoon, the darkest blast of hail and rain headed right for us,we had four in the live well at the time, just as this thing hit us-WIND-WAVES-HAIL, the fish went crazy where we were at. We had our fist double hookup of the day, twice. My little NITRO was getting pounded by these massive rollers coming at as, but we were able to cull three fish in about 15 minutes. SlipKnot did'nt want to leave, but I had waves hitting my knees over the deck. It was the craziest 15 minutes of fishin me and ol Slipknot ever had, it was a blast.
Also, Sunday morning Ol SlipKnot caught the biggest bluegill I,ve eveer seen. Should have scaled it out of curiosity, but you can't be seen scalin a Gill during a bass tourney.(must've been 3lbs.) -
Water Temp: 51-53
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: These last few weeks have been the first time I've fished since October,(school and work), and I must say it's a warm welcoming. I have already (off the bank) caught over 60 bass, and easily a limit every time I go. I've been wanting to take my kick-boat out but weather and time availability have not permitted. Just last night I had an 8-03 and the night before a 6-12 on a jig. I can't complain. When I want to just get bit I've been going to a LC misty shad pointer 100, or a texas rigged beaver. Both have been producing a lot of fish in the 2 1/2 to 4 pound range and the jig is just my money bait. I prefer to fish it over anything. NO SWIMBAIT FISH LIKE LAST YEAR BOYS!!! Two days ago I drove down to Limit Out to pay Bob a visit and spent $60 on two swimbaits, but yet, haven't even had a follower. Oh well, we'll see what happens in about another 6 or 8 degrees. Hey Ripa!!! If you're out there and you read this, call me man! It's been to long and I got some stories for ya! Anybody who wants to go fishing e-mail me or call me at 349-2511. See ya on the lake!
City: Upper LakeTips: Rip when the sun is high (Early afternoon) and throw a jig as the sun sinks to the west and hold on. I'm sure everybody already knows what's up, but I haven't been out and it's the beginning of a new season for me.

Report: Hi Fellow Anglers,
I am taking my Dad to Clear Lake for his very first time the weekend of the 21st. He is from NM and mainly fishes Amistad. We are both excited about the prospect of catching some pre-spawn and spawning bass. Any tips or places to hit would be really appreciated. We will be the guys in the blue Gambler Intimidator.
Thanks in advance!
K.C.
City: Clear LakeTips: Any help would be great. I am wanting to chuck some Huddlestons but don't really know key ambush spots?

City: KentTips: Slow reel swim baits and make sure you hit under water toolies.

Report: Boy, haven't posted a report for weeks and seems nothing has changed. The 3 previous "reports" should be a fine example for our young kids reading the "reports" section for informative reports. Too bad! Anyway, since my surgeon doesn't bass fish nor read wb.com, I can say that a friend took me to Clear Lake yesterday afternoon, three week after my hip-replacement. I am not recommending this bad behavior, but I just HAD TO GO! Seriously, he has a big boat and the lake wasn't going to be rough, so I slowly and carefully attempted to bass fish - not wanting to catch one too big, of course, to possibly cause injury! We fished out of Red Bud - about 5 or 6 hours and had fun. We landed 9 out of about 15-16 bites. We each had one over 4 lbs and several 3 to 3 1/2 pounders - a nice limit pushing 17 lbs. I heard the bite had slowed some and that seemed reasonable to me since the weather was gradually cooling. I quit about dusk while he fished a bit more, landing the 9th bass. Great to be back and I still remember how to set the hook!
City: Yuba CityTips: The jig bite was good for me with the "Hemphill" special - brown/orange Rodstrainer jig with #180 Yamamoto grub - I got the 4 1/4 on that. I did rip one with the hitch #128 Pointer Minnow. My friend used jigs some but mostly fished Senkos I think. His 4 pounder was on a swimbait however. We did get a late afternoon bite but several were quite deep, 20-30 feet. Mostly bare pressure bites except one or two that nailed the bait. The rip and swimbait bite was pretty slow for us but jigs, Senkos, worms, were ok. Dark colors. I am looking forward to guiding again in about 2 to 3 week!!

Water Temp: 46-55
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished 3/15 to 3/17 from Red Bud to Shag Rock, got a fish or 2 every stop but it would take a few hrs to do it at each stop, I should have gone up to Lake Port, I heard the Ford turney had some very good weights up there and some guys did not do well weight wise but caught lots of fish.
We got about 9-11 fish each day to 3.5 lbs, I lost a fish that went 6-7 lbs, I knew I should have replaced my line, I replaced it 5 months ago and that is not that old but I knew that it must have been old from the start becuase when I would tie a knot and test it it would break easily, after I snapped off a 3.5 lb, I should have put the jig rod down until I put new line but I did not and it cost me a nice fish.
City: San JoseTips: Drop shot Zoom watermelon candy swamp crawlers for numbers, shaky heads with zoom watermelon red flake Dead Ringers. We caught fish from 4 feet to 22 feet so they are all over the place. We caught them in rocky areas, flats and docks. I did get one Senko fish watermelon candy also. My Brother got one fish on 5 inch curly tail worm black. The 6-7 lber I lost at the boat was on the dead ringer. One more tip, if you think your line is bad, change it don't take a chance, I lost a DD at Coyote Lake and this fish also, the DD I lost was after buying line at Wall Mart, the bad line I had on at Clear Lake I got at a very well known tackle shop that I will not mention but I will be going there in a few days to tell my friend he is selling old brittle line on his spools on the wall, yes I had them put the line on profesionally and it was old and brittle.

Report: like the posters below .... what a wild saturday at clear lake last weekend!!! had our small two day club tourney there. it was a team tournament and my partner "was" the team for most of saturday. with less than half an hour before weigh-in, i stick a 6.96. problem was ..... my hands were so cold i couldn't really get my fingers closed around the grip/handle to reel. my hands kept slipping off. i yelled at my partner to get that net over here ..... reeeeaall fast. i ended up sorta reeling and sorta pulling the fish in by walking towards the other end of the boat. luckily my partner was better with the net than i was at reeling.
that fish helped us take second in our little tournament. also held up for big fish.

Report: Fished Holder Ford. Had 20 lbs. Sat.
But let me tell you about my day.
Shot down south got to the narrows and my engine
oil alarm came on. Went back to look in oil compartment to see my buddies wallet sitting there
against the motor. Shoot your gonna need that
i think. Handed him the wallet and of course
forgot to top off the opti oil. So we idled towards
Baratos to see if we could score some oil. Buddy
hands me a Power bar and i crack my back molar
on it. Buy a quart of oil off a fellow angler,
thanks Dave, head to my spot. Wind is blowing
and oil alarm wont turn off. Head back to lakeport
and about a mile from Skylark i spin the hub on the prop. Dead in the water i call a buddy for a
tow and kick the minnkota up to 90. Hail starts coming down and suddenly i feel some tingling on
my head. Im wearing a beanie, a hoodie, and my
100mph jacket. The tingling starts buzzing all around my hair, and im thinking the cell phone
up against my ear is causing some kind of vibration. I turn the cell phone off and drop it
on the deck. At this point my hair is snapping and
popping and i think my hair is on fire. My buddy
thinks im going crazy until i tell him to touch
my head and it shocks his hand much to his amazement. Am i on fire? No im polarizing. So i drop down to the deck, my fingers are arching
everytime i curl them and suddenly realize that
no im not in the twilight zone, im about to take
a bolt of lightening. Luckily tommy shows up
with a rope and as the deck fills up with about
an inch of pea size hail i make it to the weigh in
with 2 minutes to spare.
Hillside Honda fixes my hub thanks guys!
Second day, buddy flies home and im amped though
fishing solo, get to about Konocti when suddenly
my engine cuts down to an idle and there goes
my lower impeller pump.
Cripple in to Konocti, call for a ride to
Lakeport and call it a day.
That was my Lakeford Tourney in a nutshell.
Should pick up my boat tomorrow $500 and shes
all better.
City: AngwinTips: Make sure your service is up to date.
Always wear your kill switch, carry a tow rope,
have #'s saved in your phone of fellow anglers,
and when you feel your hair standing up in a storm
take cover.

Report: Me and ol' Headgear fished the Holder tourny this weekend and had a blast. We caught fish everywhere we went, most of them small.I was slow crawlin a brown tube and Headgear was workin a shaky head. Before sunday was over we did a 180 and shot straight across the lake to a place we never fished before and found bigger fish, still no bucket mouths, but got to cull a couple.

Report: Put in a about 0900 at Oaks and went directly to the Keys. Slow; a few bites; caught a 2 pounder. Fought some choppy water over to the shallows on the back of rattlesnake. I was fishing up tight. Struggled to get two. Later found that the fish are still a bit deep. When I pulled off about 30 feet, I started getting hammered. I used a dropshot, wacky rigged senko. Pumpkin was the ticket. The bite was so good that the hail didn't stop us. My boat was carpeted white after it stopped! There were four to five boats nearby. It was hard to keep count!(of the fish, that is) Even though they were the 2 to 3 pound variety, the bite is on. The fish were still a bit red-lipped. Released several. The bite never stopped.
City: EspartoTips: Let the rod load up. Be patient. Waiting 30 seconds between bites shouldn't be that hard to handle. Also, if you see anglers fishing in heavy hail, you should probably join them!

Water Temp: 50-55
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I fished from thursday to saturday...On thursday I did pretty good on crankbaits and jigs. Caught around 8 fish for 3 hours of fishing. Biggest went 8lbs with a couple of 5's and the rest from 2-3lbs. On Friday I caught around 3 until 6pm, then it was on... I caught 6 more from 6pm to 7pm, and ended the day with a 6lber. All on a crankbait. On saturday morning I caught about 8 on a Rodstrainer Jig, all of them were with 3 feet of the bank...really shallow, until the hail came down. Took a break to let god do his thing. When I got back out it was slow. I only caught about 3 for the afternoon, and I noticed they were all in about 5-6 feet of water instead of 2-3 feet like in the morning..Darn hail.
City: San JoseTips: People using brush hogs were catching alot... I didn't have any on me though. Jig bite is on, and a few on a crankbait.

Water Temp: 53-56
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished monday 2:30pm-5:30pm, with ZERO fish first hour and a half, then bam, door blew open from 4:00-5:30, couldn't keep 'em off the hook. I couldn't buy a bite on rips, rattles or cranks, but switched to shakey's and t-rigged small curly tails in dark colors, and it was on. Then it was like someone flipped a switch at around 5:30, and it was over. Tuesday fished all day for 6 fish total throughout the day, again on shakeyheads with small curly tails, biggest fish both days 3 1/2-4lbs or so, nothing spectacular. All fish in 8-12' off of chunk and rip-rap around ends of docks, with some in between docks as well. Fish were picking up way after bait came out from under dock, and following it awhile. I'd feel a couple taps, then nothing, keep workin' it another 10-15 ft, and the rod 'd just load up.
City: San AnselmoTips: Work it all the way back to the boat. They weren't picking up straight tails/stickbaits, they liked the flutter on the ribbontails/curly tails, at least for me.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went to clear lake yesterday with my brother & son for mixed results. 20 fish but a small bag, maybe around 15 lbs??? Fished any notable point of interest in the North only. Hit just about everything from Lucerne to Rocky point to swim bait cove to Kelsy creek to State park to Horseshoe to Buckingham & more. Results My brother-13 fish - dropshot(7)Rip(2)swimbait(4 fish used a 6 inch swim bait but nothing over 3 lbs all choked the bait too, wierd??)My 12y old son - 2 drop shot, Me-5 only(I was pissed) 1 rip,4 dropshot to 3 lbs) I was surprised that the rip bait bit was freakin slow considering the water Temp. Talked to some anglers and guess we made a mistake by not going South. All swim bait bits were deeper, nothing shallow. Personally my day went like this- my arm was about to fall off from casting various swimbaits all day. I did miss my only one bit on a baitsmith then lost the lure mid air on the very next cast. 30 bucks down the drain, oh yeah, I also snapped a 200.00 rod in half somehow, had 15 out of the blue birds nest and lost one of my favorite rip baits on deep tule snag, there was more too. It was one of those days. Anyways just venting, I did managae to have a great time with my family so as long as your fishing have fun.
