Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Most of the lake is clear, the Keys are muddy. Jason and I fished in the Keys first thing with a Capt Jack's Jigs in Watermelon/Red Flake, got a 5,3 and a nother 3 lbs. Moved out in the open water with all of the other boats (30 or more). Using a Swim bait and dragging a Jig got 2 more. So we went north and found some cold wind and not fish. Went back down behind Rattlesnake Island again and worked the Keys again hitting the trees and tules, got one more 5 lb Largie.
    City: Rocklin

Tips: Stay out of the cold wind, the bass are moving up into 1-3 ft and stagging in 8-15 ft.

Report: The wife and I fished mid-lake to the north on Sunday. We caught 8 fish total with our best 5 coming in at just under 22lbs. All of our fish were taken fishing plastics fairly slowly on the bottom. We also caught one fish drop shotting.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: The fish are definitely moving up and becoming a lot more aggressive. Lake level is just about full.

Report: Started off slow and low and did not get much better, picked up first fish around 11 am around tule island on a crank bait, second fish came about 1 in state park, same crank bait. We missed a few on worms and had no other luck with anything, still a little slow, was probebly fishing to fast still.
    City: Grass Valley

Tips: Water is still warming, will be better every day if this weather holds.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got out on Saturday for a few hours early in the morning before the high winds and heavy rain came. Saw one fish taken by another angler on a crankbait near Shag Rock. I got bit twice using a hand poured beaver on a shakey head. Landed one fish a chunky 3lber. The winds picked up and skies opened so I headed back to the marina and was back on the road home by 10:30AM.
    City: Petaluma, CA

Tips: The one item I'll note here with this report is the two bites I had were very, very aggressive. Not the winter time pressure bites at all. Spring time is just about here on the pond. Ohh yes :)

    Water Temp: 48-52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I made a quick trip to the lake Sat afternoon to see what was going on. I started around 1 pm and fished a little over 4 hours. I went out of Red Bud and started across the lake, fishing tule/rock areas. My first bass came quickly in about 6 feet of water, 2 lbs 15 oz. About 2 hours for the second one, less than 2 lbs on some off-shore rock. About 4 pm, the short trip became worth it when I landed a fat bass an ounce or 2 under 5 lbs. Talk about healthy - my goodness - what a girth!! I think I had another fish on, but not sure. No bite whatsoever for the three I landed. Beautiful afternoon weatherwise - just great to be there!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: All three of the bass were hooked on a Berkley 4" green pumpkin Power Worm and 6 lb test line. Hey - I wanted some bites!!! I did a fair amount of rippin' - nothing for me. No jig bites either. I talked to some nice guys after I took the boat out and they did get a rip fish or two - one maybe 5 lbs - so it can happen!! My three were from 6 to 12 feet deep - on rock.

Report: fished for a few hours on the thursday before last and found a decent rip bite.I found a rocky point with fish stacked on it that gets very little pressure and managed to rip twin fivers and one about four, healthy chunks!went back the next day and had a haus on my second cast but lost her at the boat, still stuck a couple clones after that and cranked one at dusk.couldent get bit anywhere else.
    City: lower lake

Tips: riping is pretty much the only way I catch em this time of year.stasee 90 clown has produced fairly well, seven short snaps and long pauses and than switch it up.good luck

Report: Great advise D.B. and thanks for the info. I did fish a black/blue 1 ton but I was using the rod. I will try your suggestions next time things get tough. Tight lines!

    Water Temp: 45-50

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished mid-lake today for 3 hours. Man it was beautiful out there. Unfortunately the fish were still hunkered down and tight lipped. We got bit 3 times and got one ice cold fish in the boat. We got bit on the drop and black and blue jig. The fish we landed was taken with the jig. Glad to see the lake level has risen nicely, just about a full pond. Couple more weeks of nice weather and this place should catch fire.

    Water Temp: 41?

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Hey Kasezilla, it seems like there is a better bite in the south end of the lake right now from what I've heard. Jigs extremely slow in about 15 to 20 feet on rockpiles. Also the tube is deadly. The bites are coming later in the day. From your report I just read, it sounds like you're fishing way too fast and checking too many areas with too many baits. Just an opinion. Fish a jig all day and see what happens.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: Try a 3/4oz football(Skinny Bear) jig or a 1/2 oz weapon jig and use a yamamoto 5 inch grub as a trailer. Brown and orange barbwire skirt with the 180 color grub or black/blue skirt with the 214 color grub. Trim your skirt up to the hook. Fish extremely slow and finish your retrieve all the way back until under the boat. I get a lot of bites under the boat. Don't move your rod at all. Just use the reel to move your jig. Crawl it back on the bottom all the way. It's a tough way to fish, but it gets me bites when times are tough. Same thing for tubes. Black/blue and watermelon with red and purple flake.

    Water Temp: 41-44

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Found water with only 1 foot of visibility and found water with 6 feet of visibilty but it did not matter, they did not want to bite. I got one 3.5 lber at 5:30 pm on Sat on a 1/4 oz shakey head with a 6 inch warmouth Robo fat body, I fished from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm Sat with only one fish. On Sun I fished from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM with only one fish at 1:00 PM on a pumpkin seek 5 inch curly tail worm drop shotted. I fished a fav area for 45 minutes using drop shot, shakey head, rip, crank & 3:16 swim bait, got one smack on the swim bait but did not commit so I left for 45 min, I came back to same spot and there are 2 guys using minnows and the guy in front lands 3 fish in 15 minutes right where I could not buy a bite so I switched to a curley tail worm and dead stuck it, I did not feel the bite but I lifted the crucial drop shot rod and my line started moving ever so slowly and a 2 lber was on there, these fish are eating for sure but they want to see gills moving so that is why I went to the curly tail and it worked but only for one fish.
My 3.5 was in 15 feet of water and the 2 lber was in 25 feet of water. I spoke to a few Won bass guys fishing the vinard circuit and they were the AOY team last year and only had one a pc at 2:00 PM so I did not feel so bad, I spoke to a number of people and it was the same, zero to 2 fish per boat. If the weather stays this good for 2 more weeks we will see a huge turn around.
    City: San Joser

Tips: If you want to just enjoy good weather go now, if you want to catch fish wait for 2-3 weeks but look for at least low 50's in water temp before heading out. It's going to bust open and I will be there. Go to the Delta and follow Cooch around and see where the heck he is getting those toads!!!:)
