Water Temp: 79-85
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Well, really it was my first time fishing Clear lake. I gotta say I had a great time. I mainly fised of the docks of the resort I was staying at, and just killed it!! Almost every cast between 5:30pm and 8:30 was ringer! 2 - 3.5 good fighters all on ZOOM lizards and senko's wacky rig style. On my last day about 1:30pm I got my biggest fish yet 5.5 pounder. My personal best! Now to most people thats not too big, but for me with no boat and no fancy fish locator, I think thats good! In all cought about 25-30 fish on a dock in a 4 day span.
City: modestoTips: I did real good with 6" ZOOM watermelon red Lizards and any green color 6" senko. My dad had luck with 4"-6" swim baits (minnow and crappie)

Report: Went out with my dad and i pro angler. Started the morning throwwing topwater in bass alley with buzz baits, spooks, and frogs.Didn't get one blow up there so we started to fish docks and tullies with frogs and buzz baits got about 15 fish off topwater going bout 2lbs-6lbs. then when the sun came up we started to fish flats and structure fish using jigs blue and black patterns and shakey heads with mmIII.Then we started to fish deeper water with drop shots and shakey heads with pretty good resluts. When the wind picked up we found little coves and personal marina throwing watermelon red tubes and frogs.Once we went back on the main lake we threw rattle traps and senkos. Then we fished bass alley again with jigs and shakey heads. By the end of the day we over 45 fish and 10 over 6lbs.The best went 9.8 on a senko.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got out at 5:00 am Sunday morning and it was windy, really windy. Tried to stay in water that was for the most part protected from the wind. A few early fish on a lipless crank and flipping texas rigged plastics in 1' to 4' of water. Bite picked up as the sun came up. Alot of fish shallow hoding tight to rocks and fallen timber. Areas with a mix of rock, tullies, and fallwn timber were best. Alot of 3 to 3 1/2" lb. with the biggest going 7.3 lbs.(lipless) All in all best 5 for about 22 lbs. Off the water at noon with 35 boated bass.
City: LincolnTips: Flip tight to cover and make repeated cast at different angles. Slow roll lipless crank with speed changes and pauses, the lipless needs to make contact with cover. We used most colors in the box with darker colrs producing slighty better than light ones.

Report: Where are all the posts? I know people are fishing the lake - I saw boats coming and going as I traveled the opposite direction with my night schedule. Another night trip after a nice one Fri evening at Amador! After almost no breeze there, Clear Lake was simply nasty Sat night - wind never let up and blew everywhere! Guiding under those conditions with no moon can be and was stressful!! Our best bite however was "the whole trip". It can be summed up like this: 65 to 70+ bass in the boat with a non-stop bite, another 50+ missed bites, and ONE bass over 4 lbs. Yes, that's right - one 4 1/2 lb bass was big fish! We were fishing an area in the narrows about 8 pm where we were hooking bass non-stop for an hour with my second trip in a row "triple hookup"! Most of these and all of our bass were in the 2 to 3 1/2 pound range with even a few 12 to 13 inchers caught. We probably only had 6 or 7 in the 3 to 3 1/2 lb range. My clients were "self-contained", using mostly their favorite personal jigs and worms. The jig bite is still ON!! The first few places we could actually fish in the Oaks arm, they had 11 or 12 in the boat. I tried to fish a little and had 1! Boat control was my mission for the night. In spite of the wind, we had a fun night with more bass than I have seen in awhile, but still amazed at the lack of quality. Our best 5 probably went 18+ lbs.
City: Yuba CityTips: It is very hard to say much about this trip in a helpful way since the wind dictated everything we could and could not do. I had lots of plans for the big lake section but didn't want to risk that in the dark of the moon. Since the wind was swirling, the lake never got terribly rough but it was unpredictable. We found our fish very active on rocky bottoms and steep drop-offs. 20-30 feet of water nearby usually provides some larger bass, but not this trip. Catching 12 and 13 inch bass usually means that big bass arn't active. That had always been a good barometer for me. In parting, you should have seen us try to fish Dollar Island - the 50 foot or so section that was protected from the wind. Finally I just headed to the end of the island into the wind with the Minn Kota on high. Hey, we caught a few!!

Report: Fished on the 14th to the 20th and had a great time. We caught lots of bass up to 6 1/2 lbs on Shakey Robo MM-III and watermelon candy worms in 20-25 ft of water. Our best bite all week was frogs and spooks all day long with the largest at 7 1/2 lbs. We also got on an awesome jig bite blk/blue ripping it off the bottom and they would slam it. Around the rattlesnake the wind was down one morning and I lost a 8-10lber on a Spook. The last evening around the Redbud area I dropped a 8-9lber on a frog off a dock. I'd like to thank Joe Pool from the Tackle-It in Lakeport for giving us some great tips.
Tips: Try to find areas out of the wind and throw topwaters and frogs. Shakey head MM-III in 20-25 ft. Jigs in Black/blue fished around docks and weed edges.

Report: The water is cooler than a week ago. Mike Landy and I got a late start, hit the water @ 7:30am out of Red Bud. We started in shallow water with a spook, missed 5 blow ups. Fished around docks and got a 4.0 plus along with 5 smaller ones. We spent the morning looking for the bigger bass. We headed to Jaco bay @ the points with rocks finding 1.5 to 3.0 lbs. The wind picked up so out came the spinner and buzz baits. Had three more blow ups. Found thick weed mats, senkos and braided line found more bass upto 5.0 lbs.
Capt. Jack's Jigs in Green Pumkin with green/purple helped find 10-15 more of our fish along the rocky points.
The day ended @ 4 pm with 35-40 bass, 5 best 16-17 lbs.

Water Temp: 77-85
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Played hooky Friday the 13th and was happy that I did. Actually got there on Thursday night and picked up a few until I went to sleep at 11:00. Down on the south end of the lake, I couldn't find any fish that really wanted to bite after dark. (Black spinner bait, crankbait, and jigs) Caught 12 before dark up to 4 1/2 lbs. Started fishing on Friday at 3:30am and still couldn't catch any night fish. The bite came on just after daylight with a couple of top water fish. Started throwing a 6" senko in the watermelon color and caught a 7.2, 4.12, and a couple of 4's. Caught around 20 on the senko. I then started drop shotting the deep water docks along HWY 20 and caught numberous 1 to 3 lbers. Fished a point that went out into 30 feet of water and caught 6.0 on a MMIII drop shot rig. Ended the day with between 30 and 40 fish with the best 5 going just under 26lbs. (My personal best for 5) Had a great day but fighting the wind was a constant battle. I only fished until 3:30 on Friday. Probably could have been a 60 fish day if I had chosed to stay later.
City: ReddingTips: Caught a couple of reaction fish on a crank bait and a jerk bait (samller fish). Most of my action was on plastics and all of the big fish came on them. Don't be afraid to throw the bigger Senkos as the little ones and the big ones will eat them.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I guess I have to guide on more Saturdays since today my clients and I had a triple hookup and landed them all! I have had those at other lakes but not Clear Lake. That was a good omen since we had a good day along with more pleasure boaters than one would ever want to see. I think I am still seasick, er, lakesick!! One of my clients had only bass fished a few times before but did well on green pumpkin worms, though he lost several. I worked with both of them on their hookset. I was jazzed early when I stuck a 6-6 in an area I hadn't caught a big bass in years. I decided to try a blue/black jig since everyone had been raving how good they have been. I added a #157 (purple) Yamamoto single tail 5" grub as a trailer and that big bass wacked it, along with many others! I had the other client use the #921 Senko (brown/purple) and he did very well. He then used the Hemphill Special brown/orange jig with #180 grub and he caught a few, but not many. That's what I have been using the past few trips, so, maybe they shut off to that color today. I was going to try it later but didn't get around to it. I tried the LV500 and got my first crank fish of the year. A really fun trip ended with 31 bass in the boat (many were lost) and a nice limit a little over 22 lbs.
City: Yuba CityTips: I am keeping my eye on the overall quaity of the bass since the shad population is way down. Some bass seem a bit underfed but a few we caught this afternoon looked like bass of old - fat and heavy. I guess the jury is still out. We did catch many 2 and 2 1/4 pounders today, maybe because they bite on weekends!! Deep water access was the key for us today - sudden dropoffs from approx 15 to 27-30 feet. The Oaks arm had some pretty good color while some of the rest of the lake is still pretty clear. I wonder if that will change with the heat? I took the fellows to Henderson Point - my first visit there for awhile. One of the guys got one on the first cast but it was dead after that. Could be timing. Might have been good early. Anyway, we are all used to the great fishing at Clear Lake, but each and every time, remember - many folks around the country are wishin' they could fish this amazing lake - and it is in our own "backyard"!

Water Temp: 72-75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I was supposed to provide a repeat trip for my last Saturday trip but one of them couldn't make it so the other client and I tested Clear Lake on a Monday after a busy weekend! Did all the boat traffic slow the bite? - not a chance, though the early morning was still cool and the bite started slowly. Yes, Sat and Mon, very few if any carp rolling at first light both days. I knew some of you would be wondering!! The ones still spawning in the keys were sure creating a frenzy - boiling everywhere! He wanted to frog fish in the keys first so we started there and actually caught a few. He was using the yellow/black and I was using the green, Snagproof frogs. I got a 4 and a 2 3/4 while I was trying to slow down his retrieve of the frog. Finally, he first blowup and a good one! The 6 to 7 pounder made it all the way to the boat before coming off just as I was about to net it. Darn! Now he knows what a thrill frog blowups are!! Out in the main lake the bite just got better as the day went on. Great jig bite! I know many of you are using black/blue jigs with great success - I just wanted to see if the brown/orange-180 Yami grub "Hemphill Special" would hold up. I think it did with lots of bass to 5 lbs 6 oz. The worm bite was good as always and green pumpkin is still our favorite. Early afternoon bite was awesome - most of our quality bass taken then on 20 to 30 foot ledges. Best five only 21+ lbs however. My client who did so well on Sat struggled yesterday, losing several nice bass. I took a break - had dinner - and went out again myself to survey the evening/night bite. I caught 14 or 15 of the released bass around the Konocti Resort bass and then fished other areas after dark and lost count after 25 or so bass. I didn't get anything big but lots of 4's and 5's with a limit over 23 lbs. The 10" Power worm was working it's usual magic and they still love brush hogs. Lots of Smelly Jelly! I left my house at 4 am and hit the sack at 4 am this morning! Guess that trip will last me for 2 or 3 days!!!
City: Yuba CityTips: Wind, wind, wind! We are enjoying the cooler summer in Yuba City, but there is a price to pay if you love to fish Clear Lake. That lake area is the fan on nature's air conditioner. As the temp reaches the 100's for the next few days, the lake air conditioner should be shut off and you can fish where you want. A few nice bass are being caught, but overall, the size may be declining a bit which is normal when summer finally arrives. If the water warm up quickly, bass will probably re-position themselves a bit and may be a bit deeper than what you have been used to - especially from noon 'til dark. The early morning bite should become excellent again as this is the coolest and quietest time of day. However - the hotter the weather (water temp too!) the happier the bass are at Clear Lake - just like the "contented California cows make good cheese" commercial! (Not sure why I said that!)

Water Temp: 75+
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Shakey Shakey at Clear Lake! I fished Sunday tucked away from the wind on the southside along the shore below Konocti Resort. I did ok with a smaller Reaction Innovations Screwed Up Jig and a watermelon Zoom Trick worm in the calmer water. Out on the open points I used a Spot Remover Magnum and the same worm. That is about the biggest shakey head jig I have and the water was deeper off those points so I wanted to make sure it got down there quicker. Probably had 15 fish to the boat, biggest 4+ a few under 2. Lake was pretty rough Sunday so I didn't move much.
City: Oakland/ClearlakeTips: Smaller fish up tight, bigger fish out off the shore a little. Bite shut off where I was (for me) around 1pm. I was using 2 newly home built rods. One was a cheapie American Tackle Matrix blank and the other a G Loomis Spin Jig IMX Slate number SJ723. Guess which one I liked better? The G Loomis felt great, but I'd like to fish it more to see what I like and don't like about it for dropshot and lighter jig fishing. The Martix blank was just so so. Even considering the price it felt kind of dead in my hands, and to put in the time to build a rod I'd rather have a better finished product. Next I'm building a Batson Rainshadow blank. I'll be interested to see how that compares to the G Loomis.

Report: My neighbor John and I decided to hit Clear Lake to see if it was still as good as we experienced last month. We launched out of Clear Lake Oaks and hit 4 walls with very little wind. After getting some light on the water I hit a 5.8 on a Senko in about 8 feet of water with 8 pound line. After a little fight we were on our way to a day of wind, and some good jig fishing. John decided he realy didn't like his brand new Bass Pro Shop fishing pole and snapped the last 6 inches of it off while trying to get lose of a snag! Brown and purple jigs with a cinnamon and purple trailer was the ticket as John (with my rod) decided to catch more than his share of fish. I had a few more and did manage to catch my first frog fish........not a toad though!
City: SacramentoTips: Senko's and jigs......slow!

Report: Spent a week at Clear lake and had a great time cacthing fish. Fished with Guide Bob Myskey on Mon. and got my personal best 8 lb 14 oz. on a Sammy top water. Also got a 6.8 on a Shell Cracker. Ended the day with another 6.2 on a popper for 31LBs in best 5 fish. Bob Myskey is without a doubt the best guide I have ever fished with.Just a note,Stayed at Konocti Vista and on Sat Morning there was a small club tournamentin which someone in that club ran into my boat and caused pretty good damage to my motor housing. There was no one else moored there. If the guilty one reads this have some guts to at least apologize.

Report: I guided two guys today - caught nearly 50 - over 20 lb limit - thank you and goodby! Bet none of you thought I could make my report like that - you're right!! These reports are getting boring - someone needs a slow day for variety!!!! Anyway, this morning was chilly (amazing weather for this last week of June) and windy and the bite started kind of slow for us. The lake is dropping a bit so we concentrated on off-shore structure the whole trip. We didn't catch any real big bass, maybe because of the previous report - they caught them all! Seriously, the night bite is on because of the full moon and clearer water. Most of our bass were caught deeper than 15 feet - on rock.
City: Yuba CityTips: We really tried to force the jig bite and it was ok, but the worm bite ruled for us. Again, green pumpkin was just about all we threw. We used Berkley Power worms, Dead Ringers, and drop-shotted the MMIII Robo worm. We did break off a big fish drop-shotting.

Report: Fished with Jack Rosetti on Monday and what a great fishing day we had catching a total of 45 bass up to 5.8 lbs.(caught by Jack on a 5" wtm/rd/blk senko).Best five went 22 lbs. Also had success with frogs, drop shot and shakey head worms, but the 1/2 ounce brn/purp jig worked the best. We focused on offshore rockpiles and rock walls and found the bass stacked up. The best jig bite I have ever experienced. The summer bite is on. Take a kid fishing, and have fun.

Water Temp: 70-73
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: We launched Sunday just before 10AM to fairly windy conditions. We immediately caught fish using the drop shot....well the wife did I couldn't get bit right away with my shakey head worm. I switched up to a shad swimbait and proceeded to get bit consistently fishing a somewhat sheltered shoreline near Buckingham point. I ended up taking 6 fish off this shoreline in about 30 minutes of fishing including a fat 5-03 and a chunky 4-12. The wife also caught a couple fish drop shotting in the same area. We fished Glenhaven and scratched out a fish or two but decided to not fight the rollers and headed behind Rattlesnake island. I continued getting bit with the swimbait and the wife kept hammering fish on the drop shot. We ended the day behind Anderson island with two double hook-ups in a row... that was outstanding. All in all we had a another terrifc day catching just under 30 fish with our best 5 coming in at just over 20lbs.
City: Petaluma, CATips: Watermelon plastics and shad swimbaits caught most of our fish today. I also caught a few fish on a brown jig with a Yamamoto DT trailer. It was amazing to see how deserted the lake was there was hardly any boat traffic at all....odd for a beautiful Sunday in June for sure.
